Witness Observed

pasmith_RogueI have often thought I saw someone run across the road while I deliver the paper. I often stopped to use the restroom in the same spot. I heard funny noises, but thought it was a bear or some other animal grunting and what not. Last night (about 4:30 AM actually, so this morning) I was stopped along the road looking over my route sheet, when out of the corner of my eye I saw someone walking. I slowly reached up and turned off the light. I put the car in gear, and looked over. What I saw made the hair stand on the back of my neck, and got tears in my eyes. It wasn’t 7 feet tall, more like 6 feet or so – I’m guessing, because it didn’t seem to be bending over too far to look at me. It was maybe 5 or 6 feet away from my car. I was so frightened that I drove off as fast as I could. I called 911 and they thought I was a nut, and said it was most likely a vagrant, or homeless guy. I don’t think so.

Follow-up investigation report

I spoke to the witness by phone and the following comments are the results of that conversation.

The witness was working at the time of the sighting and was taking a break from his duty when something approached the vehicle from the passenger side. The windshield was covered with a light film of dust from the road, causing a reflection of his car stereo faceplate, which is blue in color with a dolphin screen saver. This is what the witness thought the sasquatch was interested in, as the screen saver was moving on his radio.

At the beginning of the sighting the dome light was on. The witness shut it off to see what the movement was outside of the vehicle. The witness stated that when the sasquatch approached, it was in a crouched position walking toward the vehicle, never taking its focus off the inside of vehicle. The witness also said that there was a small yellow strobe light on top of the vehicle that was blinking off and on because of his job.

The sighting lasted less than a minute and the witness gave a very good description of the sasquatch that approached within ten feet of his vehicle. One thing that was noticed about the sasquatch was the reflection of the eyes that were large in size.

The estimated height of the sasquatch was around six and one half feet. The height was estimated from the height of the Jeep the witness was driving. The witness watched as the sasquatch became aware of somebody inside the vehicle and crossed the road.

An emergency call was made and the dispatcher mentioned to the witness that this was not the first call to come across the board about a bigfoot sighting in the area.

“I never… NEVER believed in BIGFOOT before that morning. I was the biggest skeptic out there. I have a degree in science, and I still can’t believe it. To be honest with you, I don’t want to go back out there, but it’s my job and will just not let it bother me. I don’t think I will stop by the same area every morning.”

The Seattle Times: Sunday, August 10, 2014

John Ray, of Marysville, and Rob Parker, of Snohomish, have spent years hunting in the old-growth forests of Snohomish County for evidence of Bigfoot, also known as Sasquatch.

They haven’t convinced the scientific community, but the “squatchers” say it’s only a matter of time.

Parker, 60, is a former policeman and compliance officer for the state Department of Labor & Industries. He now oversees safety for a Bellevue contractor. Ray, 49, works as a procurement agent and contract administrator for a “large airplane manufacturer,” but he didn’t want to say which.

Recently, news broke that scientists determined DNA taken from hair samples attributed to Bigfoot in reality was from known animals.

Those who say they’ve seen one describe a stinky, ape-like creature covered with hair, standing about 10 feet tall.

Parker and Ray understand that they’re hunting something most people don’t believe exists. But they can’t shake the strange things they say they’ve seen and heard in the woods.

“When you rule out everything that lives in that forest, what are you left with?” Ray said. “You can’t say it’s not a Sasquatch.”

On a July night, under a full moon, Ray and Parker each drove a truck along the Mountain Loop Highway, communicating on radios.

“We’re going to see what jumps out in front of us,” Ray said. “Hopefully, we’ll get something big and bipedal.”

They use technology to help them in their hunt: dash cams, thermal imaging cameras, their radios and audio recording equipment.

Ray said he doesn’t use night vision cameras because he’s “pretty sure” Bigfoot can see the light that’s emitted. That’s why, he continues, squatchers on Animal Planet’s “Finding Bigfoot” series haven’t captured the creature on film. Ray appeared in an episode that aired in January 2013 called “Sasquatch Spies.”

Seeing Bigfoot, they say, is a matter of being in the right place at the right time.

Parker said he came upon his first bigfoot by chance. He was fishing at Mount Si in 1969. “There was this godawful, roaring scream,” he said. “It was terrifying. It clearly did not want us there.”

He said a hairy beast pulled a bush aside and peeked its head out. It stood and roared. At the time, Parker said, he didn’t know what to make of it. Later, he read a book about Bigfoot.

“I thought ‘son of a gun, it was a Sasquatch. Other people see them too,’” he said.

The pair serve as investigators with the Bigfoot Field Researchers Organization, a national group trying to prove the creature exists. The group collects reports of purported Sasquatch sightings and vet the claims.

Ray and Parker were invited to join the exclusive group years ago after going squatching with BFRO members.

“They’ve got to make sure you’re not too crazy,” Ray joked.

Parker said his investigative experience aids him in stalking Sasquatch and vetting other people’s sightings.

“It’s easy to tell when someone’s telling you a whopper,” he said.

Snohomish County, and the Mountain Loop, are considered hot spots for Bigfoot sightings, they said.

Parker has been researching Sasquatch for the past four decades. In the 1970s, he worked with John Green, a retired Canadian journalist, author and leading Sasquatch researcher who is known as “Mr. Bigfoot.” Parker also has his own group, Snohomish County Sasquatch.

“If you’re not afraid to let people know you’re a nut, the reports start coming out of the woodwork,” he said.

Parker tracks the action on a topographic map. He and Ray also use the BFRO database to look for trends in activity and narrow their search.

In the woods, the pair let out long, guttural howls and whoops. They also knock on wood, clack rocks and make game calls.

“I want to say ‘hey look at these hairless dudes here,’” Ray said. “We’re just trying to get them to hang out with us.”

Ray started actively hunting the creatures following a BFRO expedition in 2008. A large, dark figure emerged on a ridge near his campsite, he said. “I saw these two huge, glowing red eyes,” he said. “They were the size of 50 cent pieces, nine feet off the ground.”

The beast looked right at him.

“I just stood there with my mouth wide open,” Ray said. “I never expected that would happen. I’m a logical person.”

That’s when a hobby turned into something more. He was hooked. “You get this thrill of seeing something that doesn’t exist,” he said.

Ray takes two of his sons, Michael, 16, and Christopher, 12, out on the bigfoot hunts. The boys are bait; children and women pique the creature’s curiosity, Ray said.

“They like women and kids because we’re not much of a threat,” Michael explained. That’s why he’s glad he’s getting older.

“Now, I’m no longer just bait,” he said. Still, he said, most of his friends think he’s “full of beans” when he tells tales of Sasquatch.

On their July hunt, a full moon illuminated the Mountain Loop. The reputedly elusive creatures don’t usually come out on a bright night. But when it comes to squatching, Ray and Parker heed one regard.

“If you weren’t there. If you didn’t see it. You can’t say it happened — and you can’t say it didn’t,” Ray said.

The Pekin Daily Times

Friday, July 28, 1972

A rural Pekin woman reported to Tazewell Co. sheriff’s officers that she saw Cohomo (Cole Hollow Road monster) while she was picking berries by the old coal mine on Rt. 98, about 3 miles east of Rt. 2, at 7:35 p.m. Thursday.

The unidentified woman did not furnish officers with any description of what she saw but said she became so scared she ran off and left her purse. Sheriff’s officers investigated the scene but found nothing.

The sheriff’s department received a call from a Eureka man who said he and his family were having a birthday party at 8:30 p.m. Wednesday in Fondulac Park, East Peoria, when they saw strange lights come in a vertical position and go down behind some trees. He said the lights left a vapor or smoke trail.

If Cohomo is actually Momo (the monster reported in Louisiana, Mo.) he apparently has been scared gray. According to first reports Momo was the same old black-haired, orange-eyed, stinky guy, but in the next 36 hours he grew a few feet, acquired an extra toe on each foot and learned to swim.

Thursday night East Peoria police said “two reliable citizens” told them they saw Momo. He was 10 feet tall, had a face with long grey U-shaped ears, a red mouth with sharp teeth, thumbs with long second joints, and “looked like a cross between an ape and a cave man,” they said.

Another sign of Momo’s neurosis may be his fear of lantern light, an acquired affectation for roaming thru damp caves and the exchange of his notable sulfur smell for that of “musky wet down dog.”

More than 200 calls jammed the switchboard at the East Peoria Police Department Wednesday night. Police vowed to administer a lie detector test to everyone filing a monster report.

Cairo Police Commisioner James Daley said anyone saying he saw Momo must submit to a breath test to determine alcohol intake.

Witness Observed:

bigfootcrossingMy best friend and I were returning from a hunting trip for turkey in eastern WA for my 50th Birthday. With no success further east we went to Teanaway. Again no success, as we returned to the freeway in Cle Elum I was saying to my friend we need to watch for elk and deer as I have seen some bad wrecks on I-90. We spotted one deer when the next thing my friend said “what is that”. As I approached the area I spotted the movement along the highway and he looked at me and said “bigfoot”. As we came closer this creature stepped onto the edge of the highway looking dead off into my friend’s face as we passed, me braking, I looked into the review side mirror only to see it take two steps onto the highway. I turned to look back at the road ahead so as not to crash, I returned my gaze to my mirrors only to have it gone from the road. It was not a person or a bear, absolutely not. I have never feared going into the woods but will no longer do my 3:30am hunting trips for turkey by myself ever again, let alone camp alone.

Encounter with an Ancestor

The discovery of a human ancestor variously referred to as Kennewick or Richland Man has shed light on the complexity of human immigration to the western hemisphere and ignited a controversy that may affect the future of paleoanthropology in the United States.

Discovery

kenmapOn July 28, 1996 two young men encountered a human skull in the Columbia River at Kennewick, Washington.  That evening I was contacted by Coroner Floyd Johnson, for whom I  conduct skeletal forensics.  I joined him at the site and helped police recover much of the skeleton.  During the next month, under an ARPA permit issued by the Walla Walla District Corps of Engineers, I recovered more wave-scattered bones from the reservoir mud. Throughout the process, I maintained contact with the Corps, which interacted with two local Indian Tribes.

The completeness and unusually good condition of the skeleton, presence of caucasoid traits, lack of definitive Native-American characteristics, and the association with an early homestead led me to suspect that the bones represented a European settler.  I first began to question this when I detected a gray object partially healed within the right ilium.  CT scans revealed the 20 by 54 mm base of a leaf-shaped, serrated Cascade projectile point typical of  Southern Plateau assemblages  from 8500 B.P. to  4500 B.P.  However, similar styles were in use elsewhere in western North America and Australia into the nineteenth century.  Nevertheless, the  point raised the possibility of great antiquity, while the skeleton’s traits argued for the early nineteenth century.  We either had an ancient individual with physical characteristics unlike later native peoples’ or  a  trapper/explorer who’d had difficulties with “stone-age” peoples during his travels.  To resolve this issue, the Coroner ordered radiocarbon and DNA analyses.

Forensic Observations
I conducted a standard forensic examination and measurements with assistance from Central Washington University student Scott Turner, and photographed the skull, teeth, and pathologies.  Physical anthropologists Catherine J. MacMillan of Central Washington University and Grover S. Krantz of Washington State University examined the skeleton briefly.  Kenneth Reid, Rainshadow Research, helped identify the projectile point.  Kenneth Lagergren, DDS interpreted dental X-rays, and Kennewick General Hospital CT scanned the right innominate and cross-sections of longbones.  AMS dating was conducted by Donna Kirner of the University of California at Riverside, who also measured amino acid composition and stable C and N ratios.  Frederika Kaestle of the University of California, Davis attempted DNA extraction.

The skeleton is nearly  complete, missing only the sternum and a few small bones of hands and feet.  All teeth were present at the time of death.  This was a male of late middle age (40-55 years), and tall (170 to 176 cm ),  slender build.  He had suffered numerous injuries, the most severe of which were compound fractures of at least 6 ribs and apparent damage to his left shoulder musculature, atrophy of the left humerus due to the muscle damage, and the healing projectile wound in his right pelvis.  The lack of head flattening from cradle board use, minimal arthritis in weight-bearing bones, and the unusually light wear on his teeth distinguish the behavior and diet of Kennewick Man from that of more recent peoples in the region.  A  fragment of the fifth left metacarpal analyzed by AMS has an isotopically-corrected age of 8410 +/- 60 B.P. (UCR 3476) (ca 7300 to 7600 B.C.).  Amino acids and stable isotopes indicate heavy dependence on anadromous fish.  DNA was intact, but two partially-completed extractions were inconclusive.

The man lacks definitive characteristics of the classic mongoloid stock to which modern Native Americans belong.  The skull is dolichocranic (cranial index 73.8) rather than brachycranic, the face narrow and prognathous rather than broad and flat.  Cheek bones recede slightly and lack an inferior zygomatic projection; the lower rim of the orbit is even with the upper.  Other features are a long, broad nose that projects markedly from the face and high, round orbits.  The mandible is v-shaped,with a pronounced, deep chin.   Many of these characteristics are definitive of modern-day caucasoid peoples, while others, such as the orbits are typical of neither race.  Dental characteristics fit Turner’s (1983) Sundadont  pattern, indicating possible relationship to south Asian peoples.

Current Status

On August 30, four days after the startling radiocarbon result, the Corps insisted all studies be terminated and soon took possession of the skeleton. After publishing their intent to repatriate the remains to an alliance of five tribes and bands–Umatilla, Yakama, Nez Perce, Wanapum and Colville–the Corps received numerous requests for scientific study from citizens, congressmen and anthropologists.  The Colville then filed a separate claim of their own.  A group of internationally-known archaeologists and physical anthropologists filed suit, asserting that NAGPRA does not apply to this case and seeking the opportunity for study.  The Asutru Folk Assembly, a traditional European religion, also sued for the right to determine if this individual was their ancestor.  The Umatilla, who have taken the lead on the issue, intend immediate reburial in a secret location.  The remains now lie in a federal repository awaiting resolution.

The Unknown and Unknowable
The Kennewick discovery, along with other recent finds in Nevada, may significantly alter conventional views of how, when, and by whom the Americas were peopled.  If the Corps persists in its refusal to allow additional studies and decides on immediate  repatriation, experts will lose the chance to directly examine this rare phenomenon.  Although I have studied him extensively and learned much about his life, our descendants–of whatever ethnicity– will lose the broader view that only multiple perspectives  can provide.  Data that might be used for such studies in lieu of actual bones remain incomplete as of this writing.  When the remains were seized, I had yet to take measured photographs of the postcranial skeleton, and I was still waiting for specialized equipment for state-of-the-art skull measurement.  Furthermore, DNA was well preserved and, if restrictive enzyme analysis and detailed sequencing were completed, we might ultimately learn this man’s relationship to other peoples of his time and ours.  In broader view, reburial without study may set a precedent that forecloses the opportunity for study of most future paleoAmerican finds.

Much, however, is beyond our reach regardless of political outcomes.  No matter how long we might study the Kennewick man we would never know the form or color of his eyes, skin and hair, whether his hair was curly or straight, his lips thin or full — in short many of the characteristics by which we judge living peoples’ racial affiliation.   We will never be certain if his wound was by accident or intent, what language he spoke, or his religious beliefs.  We cannot know if he is truly anyone’s ancestor.  Given the millennia since he lived, he may be sire to none or all of us.

Hello all.
I would like to share my experience regarding my personal sighting. I will try to be as detailed as possible without being boring so bear with me…

Sighting: 15-20 feet
Location: Huntsville, Ontario near otter lake
Duration: Aprox two minutes total
Time: Early morning, daybreak
Season: Summer

I am from Michigan. We went to this cabin our family friends owned in Huntsville. Our group consisted of two adult women and four children. I was 12 at the time. If you Google map the local, you will see that it is surrounded by hundreds of miles of timber and undeveloped land.

This cabin set empty all year round unless occupied briefly by our family friend and or their guests. Aprox 100 feet from the cabin door stood the beautiful lake. The entire area was surrounded by old growth forest and there wasn’t a neighbor within 10-20 miles. Town was roughly 15 miles away so we were secluded. We arrived late night, took in our gear and slept. Upon seeing the light of day, I hurriedly gathered my little tackle box and fishing pole and headed out the door towards the lake. I was excited to fish, being from the city I didn’t get to fish often. Everyone else in the cabin was still asleep so I estimate the time around 6:00 6:30.

As I walked down the path towards the lake, with the cabin at my back.. I experienced the most powerful sensation of being “watched” I have to this day ever felt. The hair on the back of my neck stood up. It was so pervasive, I instinctively turned around fully expecting to see someone directly behind me! I turned and looked, the path behind me was empty.. but my attention was immediately drawn to the large boulder that jutted out of the ground ( approximately 6-7 feet out of the ground) next to the cabin. That’s when I saw it… its was peeking out from the side of the boulder!

Now mind you.. Ive camped up North in the Upper Peninsula of Michigan all my life. I have seen bears, wolverines, bobcats and all kinds of creatures. This was different. I stood there and just stared at what I can only explain as a large dark face with big shiny eyes staring at me. It moved slightly behind the rock, maybe hoping I hadn’t seen it. Oh but I did.. it peeked back out and stayed that way for a minute.. probably wondering what I was going to do next. I held my ground, I wanted to see what this thing was!!! The forest line was about 20-25 feet away on all sides so it wasn’t gonna slip away easy. It must have realized that as well, because no sooner did I think that.. it just stood straight up.

The top of the boulder came to about the top of its stomach. Its chest, shoulders, head and easily cleared it. I estimate it between 8-9 feet tall! It was massive! Its head looked small in comparison to its shoulder width. They had to be about 4-5 feet across. Heavily muscled yet lean. The hair wasn’t very long, maybe 4-5 inches all over. Dark brown. The face was human looking. It reminded me of an aborigine, like from Australia. Hair covered except around the eyes. The skin was a medium gray color. It had a very pronounced conical shaped head with the hair extending all the way to brow ridge. Eyes were black and shiny. I could see them move as he looked me over. Mouth/lips wide and thin.

And there we were… neither of us moved for about 20-30 seconds. I think we were both in shock. Amazingly, I was not afraid at all at that moment! I did not feel threatened nor was its posture aggressive. Its did not make any sounds.. or show its teeth… just stared. Then, it just turned… without taking its eyes off me, and took three steps and it was in the timber line. Its “steps” were weird and very long. It kinda hopped-stepped, while swinging its arms. It cleared open grass to that tree line in a split second.. but the way it walked and swung its arms looked like slow motion. Graceful, yet weird. As it went into the forest, it started breaking branches, trees it sounded like as it made its way deeper into the woods. That was the only time I was scared. It sounded like it was tearing the whole forest down in there. Wood was snappin and cracking like gun shots it was so loud. In retrospect.. I think it was doing that so I wouldn’t follow it… and I didn’t!!!! I ran back up to the cabin and woke my Mom up and told her what I saw. There was no misidentifying that! It was Bigfoot!! I will never forget that encounter.. and I remember it as if it was yesterday. Thanks for reading my sighting.

Below is a drawing I did of the creature…. truly looked more human than ape.

On an upcoming show we will be interviewing Brad Lockwood, author and researcher into giants. “On Giants” is a study of big things, or why we want to be small. Including original sources, interviews with experts, and startling archeological finds, author Brad Lockwood retraces several tall-tales (and debunks most) including those of an early antiquarian “Doc” T. Apoleon Cheney to reveal why we have created or enlarged actual people, events and myths for varied reasons. Brad was kind enough to give us a PDF version of his book which will we will give to our audience.

Texas– A man says a group of tall ape-like creatures entered his property and climbed up onto the roof of his northern Texas house.
“I was currently staying at my parents place when I had finished college, ” Courts Griner, a man in his mid-thirties, told Cryptozoology News in an interview. “I was chatting with my girlfriend online, now wife, at around 1 a.m. when I began to hear movement in the front of the house outside,” he added about the November 2005 encounter.

The noise, says Griner, was unusual so he decided it’d be best to leave and go to his girlfriend’s house in Dallas. As he headed out of his parent’s residence, something else caught his attention.
“I was a bit creeped out,” he said. “That is when I caught a quick view of two large individuals cross the front lawn along the fence line.”
According to the eyewitness, the creatures had “broad shoulders” and were over 8 feet tall.
“When seeing this, that was the last straw… I was pretty scared. I had my mother come with me to the porch, because whatever was out there I wanted her to see as well when I opened up that front door.”
As they walked out to the front porch, the man claims they could hear “loud thuds on a tree coming from the fence line in the pasture”.
“I then heard the branch from the oak at the side of the house tree hit against gutter and several ‘footsteps’ ontop of the roof,” said Griner. “I am to this day guessing… that possibly a younger juvenile creature may have gone up the tree and got onto the roof of our home. I was not at the time going to investigate. I told my mother to go ahead and get inside, lock the door and call the authorities if they hear anything near the house.”
He then reportedly got into his car and “left for the night”.
The following day, he explains, at around 2.30 p.m., he returned to his parents’ house and “ventured out into the pasture along the fence line” when he noticed “something large and rust colored in the lightly wooded treeline” at around 300 yards and on the neighbor’s property. According to the man, he had a “pair of binoculars” that helped him see the alleged creature up close.

“I saw what appeared to be a very large orangutan,” he recalls. “It was on all fours and viewed me, rocking back and forth, from behind a cedar tree. It would lean out, then lean back behind it again. It then looked to its left and then, slowly, rose up to a height of 8 or 9 feet… it then gracefully walked with both arms swaying to its left and lowered again near the ground. That is when I saw a second one behind it.”
And as the two animals “rocked back and fourth”, they would also look at one another and move their mouths, as though they were communicating.
“They appeared to be talking,” said Griner, “and as I crossed the pasture I noticed something big and black moving through the woods coming the opposite direction. At the time, yes… I had a small digital camera with very-not-useful 55 mm lens. At that time, there was absolutely no detail of any subjects through that lens at 300 yards. There was much more I could see through the binoculars. I looked through them and saw the third Bigfoot creature on all fours viewing me from behind a small cedar tree. It was a little closer, but still at 200 yards to our treeline of our woods. It sat there and look at me, and then looked left in the direction the others were in the property next door. I did not want to venture closer to it for a possible picture due to my safety. I very much regret that to this day.”
But he was able to take a close peek at the purported cryptids. The ones standing on his neighbor’s property had “well built” bodies with broad at the shoulders, arms hung down close to their knees”. They had a “rounded head like a chimp”.
“They moved very gracefully and I could see the muscles in legs moving. I believe it to be an adult and possibly a younger adult together.”
The third creature, which walked all the way to Griner’s property, was “was also very big”.
“It was on all fours and atleast 4 and a half or more as it sat couched on its knuckles behind the cedar tree. It had caucasian skin color, roundish chimp head, more of a short beard, was charcoal black in color and surprisingly I could see faintly, it had grey in its bearded area. I also could see its chest going in and out as it breathed. He seemed to be an adult or close to it,” he explained. To this day, Griner is certain that what he saw that day were “Bigfoots” and that it wasn’t a “prank or a hoax”. “The physical qualities of the creatures were of flesh and blood. I know what bears look like. We do not have bears in northern Texas.”
As to why he didn’t try to take a picture of the monkey-looking critters even though he had a camera, Griner says that was the last thing in his mind at the moment.
“I believe one, I was in shock at what I was seeing, and two, the subjects could not be seen at that length of distance,” he said. “I could see much more through the binoculars. Now, I bring a variety of long lenses on every outing in the event that I have the opportunity again. I hope to have that type of encounter with that much detail.”
Griner has now become a Bigfoot investigator and is a member of the Timberline Bigfoot Team, a research group whose mission is “to search for viable, physical evidence of the existence of the creatures collectively called Sasquatch or Bigfoot.”
Bigfoot sightings in the Lone Star State are unusual. Possibly more known to cryptozoology enthusiasts and paranormal investigators, Susan Sullivan series of books, Texas Bigfoot, documented the purported encounters with the beast that she and her family have been experiencing throughout the years on her Texas property.

Witness Observed

Before I start, let me give you my background.
I am 50 yrs old, have 2 kids and 2 grand kids, have been married for over 29 yrs and have been a Toronto Police Officer for over 28 yrs. I started shooting when I was 7 yrs old, started hunting woodchucks and rabbits when I was 9 or 10 yrs old. I did alot of fishing, canoeing, boating, camping and hiking when I was a kid. I started hunting Deer and Bear when I was about 14 or 15 and have every year since, and started hunting Moose about 14 years ago. My parents were Salvation Army Officers and were transferred all over Canada. I have done all of the above all over Canada during my younger years and continue now in Ontario where I permanently reside in Ajax which is just 10 minutes East of Toronto. For the last 10 yrs I have hunted Moose about 30 miles N/E of Sault Ste Marie, Ontario near a small town called Searchmount near Northland Lake.

Over the years I have seen all kinds of wildlife but have never laid eyes on what I saw last week while hunting Moose. I thought I was losing my marbles and that thought was reenforced when I told my brother in law (my hunting partner)the story. I later told my wife over the phone my story and she was intrigued by my story. She apparently told a coworker who found your site on the internet. When I called her to tell her I was on the way home she told me of your site and that there were several sightings in Ontario. That’s when I realized that maybe I wasn’t just seeing things or losing my head. When I got home I checked out your site and figure your the only people I can tell my story to that won’t think I’m completely nuts. Anyhow… to my story…..sorry….it’s a little long but it doesn’t make sense if I don’t tell it all…..

My brother in law and I were hunting Moose just N/E of Sault Ste Marie. On Tuesday 14 Oct 2003 I went up an old trail to where it came to a dead end. I got stuck on my ATV in the mud but managed to get out and turn around. I went part way back down the trail to where I found a clearing and parked on the West side where I could see about 200 yards North and South. I stopped there at about 7:45 am. I put out some Moose cow in heat urine scent on the surrounding trees and a few minutes later did a Moose Cow call on my horn. I looked at my watch which said it was 8:05 am. At about 8:15 am it started to rain. I didn’t want to get my gun wet so I put it back in the gun boot on my ATV. The rain helps hide my scent but at the same time makes it noisy in the bush with the water hitting the ground, leaves, trees etc. At 8:30 am I started hearing footsteps and snapping twigs coming from the N/E of my position.

The rain noise disguised this noise until it was very close to me and because of this I wasn’t ready (gun still in boot). All of a sudden I heard the distinctive sound of a Bull Moose raking his rack on the brush very close. I looked to my left and saw a huge bull raking his rack about 70 yards from me. I reached back and pulled my gun from the boot but dropped the boot cover on the top of my ATV which made a banging noise. When I turned back to where the Moose was, it took off back into the dense brush. I thought this was a bit strange because I have seen several Moose in the past that just stood there. They don’t seem to be afraid of anything and just stand there. I’ve had them stand in front of me for several minutes before walking off into the bush in the past and couldn’t understand why this one took off so fast. I stayed still for about an hour hoping he would come back. During that time I called on my horn and heard him rake his rack on the bush twice and grunt at me as he headed off in a Southerly direction through the bush. It turns out there was a gulley just out my line of sight that he used to walk around me and disappear.

I was later able to raise my brother in law on the radio who showed up and went to where I had seen the Moose. He checked the bush and found fresh tracks which showed the Moose had gone around me in this gulley which was just out of my line of vision. He suggested that I sit near where the Moose had come out and see if he might come back. I then crossed the clearing and sat on my ATV about 5 yards from where I saw the Moose and sat facing East. Again I sprayed some Moose Cow in Heat urine scent on the trees around me and did a few calls on my horn. By this time it was around 12:30pm. I had decided that I would sit there for the rest of the day hoping to see the Bull come back. While there I ate my lunch, got off the ATV a few times to stretch my legs, had a few cigarettes and even had a little snooze. During this time my back was to the gulley that the Bull had used to walk around me. At about 1:30pm I started hearing heavy thumps behind me every now and then. Every time I heard one, I would turn around but there was nothing there. I should mention that it was still raining. The sound of the rain hitting the ground or the leaves was quite loud but these thumps were much louder. They sounded like a stone or something heavy hitting the ground, but every time I turned around, I saw nothing.

At about 5:25pm I got off the ATV to stretch my legs and have a smoke. I put my gun on the front bag of the ATV to make sure I had it within reach and stood in front of the ATV facing the gulley which was to my rear prior to this. While I was having my smoke I started hearing the distinctive sounds of footsteps coming from the gulley (snapping branches and leaves crunching). I kept my eyes on the gulley while I reached for my rifle. I thought the Bull was coming back. When I looked into the gulley about 40 yards straight in front of me I saw what I thought was a man walking towards me. He was stooped over and looked like he was having trouble walking in the bush. He grabbed a tree and swung himself around and ducked or dove down behind some thick brush. The total time of this took 3 to 5 seconds and he disappeared. He looked to me as if he was dressed all in black with a black toque or a balaclava on his head. The reason I though he was wearing a toque was his head seemed to be long at the back like a man wearing a toque. It looked like it was wearing a jacket and the front of his jacket was open half way and I could see a different color of lining showing around the neck area. It looked like it was light gray or almost blue on the chest area in the shape of a ‘V’.

sasbody_v5_0604I couldn’t really say how tall it was because his legs were behind thick brush and I could only see to about mid thigh. But I would have guessed at the time that he was anywhere from 5’8″ to 6′ tall. But he was about 40 yards away and it’s hard to judge height or size in the bush when you’re not sure of the distance. His arms seemed too long for a man but he was extremely muscular, like a body builder with the typical ‘V’ shape build. There was definitely no fat on him at all. I could see the different muscle groups on his upper body and arms bulging out and could see that it had a washboard stomach. When he grabbed the tree I saw that he had hands, not paws. He swung around the tree and dove for cover as if trying to hide from me. As I said earlier, it was a dull day and was raining and he looked wet. He was covered with black or dark brown hair and it looked like the hair was stuck to him fairly closely because he was wet. What also gave me the body builder impression was that he seemed to have no neck, or he had so much muscle on his shoulders that it gave that appearance. On top of all this his shoulders were extremely broad.

There was a line of dense brush leading off to my left from where it dove into which carried on for about 30 – 40 yards. About 10 to 15 seconds after it went behind this brush, I heard a hoarse, raspy cough followed by a long, hoarse, sad sounding howl. It sounded like a wolf howl but much deeper than any wolf I’ve ever heard. The sound came from about 20 yards from where I first saw it dive for cover.

When I first saw it, I thought it was a man maybe lost in the bush. But my first thought was “Why isn’t he wearing any orange” and “if he’s lost, why doesn’t he just ask for help”. But the howl made me realize quickly that this was no man. The next thing going through my head was “What the hell was that?”. That was no Moose. It was definitely not a Wolf or a Bear. It was like nothing I had ever seen in 35 years of hunting. What it looked like to me was a Gorilla or very close to one, but it walked upright, not on all fours. I stood there motionless for almost an hour and a half waiting to see if it would show itself again.

During that time I remembered a show I saw on the Discovery channel about a month before this trip about a man and his son that were hunting in British Columbia where they saw a large animal throwing rocks at them. They took off and reported it to whoever and they later figured out it might be a Bigfoot warning them to get out of his area. I then thought about the loud heavy thumping noises behind me and realized that maybe this creature was throwing something at me. After a while it started to dawn on me that I may have just seen a Bigfoot and I started to get just a little scared. I normally leave the bush after dark when hunting but this night I left about a half hour prior to make sure I had lots of time. I was going to go back to that area the next day looking for that Bull but I couldn’t bring myself to go anywhere near that spot. That’s the first time in 35 years I have ever been afraid in the bush.

Since then I have wondered if this thing I saw is what scared the Bull away. Like I said earlier, I have seen many Moose in the bush and have never seen one run from me like that. Interestingly though, from where the Bull ran off to where I saw this creature was only about 50 yards.

Another thing…I don’t know if this means anything or not….Where I was sitting I saw a large, probably Moose leg bone laying on the ground about 5 feet from my ATV. It wasn’t cut or sawed, it had been broken or snapped. It looked to be about at least a year old.

87 year-old John Green has been researching the bigfoot mystery since 1957! That’s close to 60 years! Here’s a recent interview with the bigfooting legend. The sasquatch scientific community is not a large group but two Canadian researchers stand tall in their midst.

Thomas Steenburg and John Green are among the elite of researchers with a large body of work, both published and Internet-based.

bilde“I’ve been involved in sasquatch research since 1957,” said the retired 87-year-old Green who lives in Harrison Hot Springs, B.C. and is regarded as a cryptozoology authority. “In fact, I started hunting sasquatch when the village of Harrison Hot Springs decided to hunt for the sasquatch. I did a story on it, and it started what has turned into a lifelong quest. My wife and I went down to Bluff Creek, California in 1958 and began making plaster casts of prints found near a logging road.”

He said efforts were later made to discredit the footprints claiming them to be man-made and faked, a notion that has followed nearly every footprint discovery since then.

“While I have not seen a sasquatch myself, I have investigated hundreds of sightings. I have seen the Patterson-Gimlin film, and I believe that they are real,” said Green during a telephone interview. “After all, why would anyone want to fake anything like that?”

The octogenarian author noted he was in the area of California where the famed film was taken a few weeks prior, and was taken to a site where nearly 500 footprints were found by a contractor, made by possibly three individual Bigfoot walking along a road. By the time he arrived, all he could find was a handful, but he took casts of them.

“The issue of whether or not sasquatch is real depends on a couple of issues, those being how did it come across to North America, and how can we link it to any physical evidence.”

The researcher believes the creature to be an entirely different species than humanoids, and an advanced primate, adding that DNA evidence may already be in our possession but we don’t recognize it. There have been discoveries of a huge Asian ape made that might possibly be our sasquatch dating back only 10,000 years ago.

“Scientists seem to automatically tag a bipedal discovery as ‘human’, where they may really be part of the sasquatch story,” said Green. “We also have to wonder why we have not found any recent skeletons, but due to the likely small number and habitats it would have to be a miracle to find one.”

He added that it is virtually impossible for someone to fake footprints worldwide for so long without some evidence of their efforts. The work to create the mystery would not be worth the effort.

“In this field things are upside down and backwards,” said Green. “The people who investigate are called ‘believers’ and the people who believe there can’t be any such thing and therefore don’t investigate are called scientists. Researchers fall in the middle, and say show me the evidence.”

YEAR: 2007

SEASON: Spring

MONTH: April

DATE: 15-21

STATE: Iowa

COUNTY: Lee County

LOCATION DETAILS: I was hunting private property near Shimeck state forest Croton Unit.

NEAREST TOWN: Argyle

NEAREST ROAD: IA Highway 27

OBSERVED: I do not know what I saw. But I do know it was something that should not have been there and it will remain with me the rest of my life. I was turkey hunting 1 morning approximately 4 years ago. I have never told my story due to I feel people will not believe me. It rained all night long that night and thus it allowed me to walk into the forest in complete silence (No leaves crackling etc.) I set up on a hill side over looking a small creek and valley. It was nearly pitch black due to the overcast sky but soon the rain stopped and the forest became brighter. Soon after I realized I was sitting within 15 feet of several birds that were roosted in a tree next to me. I didn’t know they were there until they started shaking the rain off. My gun was already propped on my knee and pointed at my decoy. As things became brighter I could make out most of the valley floor and I continued to watch the birds roosted next to me. Soon after 1 of the birds gobbled I began hearing something off in the distance almost immediately after. I only remember this because it was a very strange paced sound. The rhythm of it seemed odd. Nothing I could think of would make a sound like this. I could see down the valley to my right for a fairly long distance however, to my left a separate hillside came out and I could not see up the valley in that direction. The noise continued with almost near perfect rhythm for several minutes with only occasional breaks. It continued to get louder. I soon realized the sound I was hearing was coming from up the valley in the direction I could not see. The turkeys in their roost next to me stopped gobbling and remained silent. A few moments later the forest was becoming fairly bright and I could see most everything around me. All of the birds roosted in the tree flew down and hit the forest floor running. They didn’t even seem to notice the decoy. I remained perfectly still watching the birds run through the forest down to my right through the valley. They acted as though something spooked them. At first I thought maybe it was me that spooked them but then it occurred to me the sound had stopped about the same time the birds took off. As soon as the birds were out of sight the noise began again. I remained still leaning against a large ash tree. Maybe 1 minute after I lost sight of the birds the sound was becoming much louder and apparent of what it might be. My first instinct was that another hunter was walking through the forest. However, to this day I will never forget what I saw in the coming moments. The sound with an almost steady rhythm reminded me of what it would sound like if I were walking on dry leaves in the forest. There was not a drop of wind on this morning and I believe the valley might have been echoing the sound. A few moments later I caught sight of it. Maybe 50 yards to my left coming into view on the bottom edge of the valley. At first I thought it was a hunter in a ghillie suit. But upon closer examination I realized this was no human wearing a camo outfit. It continued to walk up right on two feet down the valley towards my right. When the creature got to the bottom of the hill out cropping I was sitting on it stopped dead in its tracks and remained perfectly still momentarily. I think it was as this point I truly realized what I was seeing. When it stopped and stood still it became nearly invisible in the forest. It seemed an eternity passed while I sat against this tree uncontrollably shaking. I was scared out of my wits even with a 10GA shotgun propped on my knee pointed in the direction of the creature. What happened next scared me so bad I would have bet my life on it that was going to have a heart attack. The creature turned its head and looked directly at me. I stared directly into the eyes of this creature for an unknown amount of time. It made no sound, it did not move, only stared at me. I was in full camouflage including a face mask so maybe it was not sure what I was?? Shaking so bad at this point the only thing I could think of was to defend myself. I clicked the safety off on my shotgun. When I did this the creature went into an almost crouching position only it seemed more like it was in a position that would allow it to move quickly. The stare down went on for what seemed forever. I readied my shotgun not afraid to move anymore since it was apparent I had been seen. When I positioned my left hand under the forearm of my shotgun the creature sprang up nearly causing me to pull the trigger. It continued its walk though the forest with its head turned watching me. I continued pointing my gun at it. I never pulled the trigger. I was so afraid I didn’t know what to do. Eventually I lost sight of it. I jumped up as soon as it was gone and I ran back to my truck without stopping to rest once. To this day I will never forget what I saw or the feeling of absolute terror that overcame me. I do not want to be famous nor do I want my story posted all over the internet. I just thought I should tell somebody my story.

YEAR: 2013

SEASON: Spring

MONTH: April

DATE: 10

STATE: Michigan

COUNTY: Missaukee County

NEAREST TOWN: Lake City

OBSERVED: We received a voice mail from a witness, and he stated “I live near Lake City on 66. It’s really weird because I’m having some stuff happen out here, and I was really wondering if there is somebody in my area. I’m right by Missaukee Mountain and its all forest and swamps.”

I am Investigator Kim Fleming and I am filing this report on behalf of the witness. I returned the witness’ phone call and can add:

There is ongoing activity near the home since early spring of 2013. The witness’ first encounter was while walking in an area of pines. He heard a wood knock so loud that it frightened him significantly. He actually thought he had been shot at. He also heard several whistles coming from an area of the woods where he regularly walks. Several sets of tracks have been found, large and small.

OTHER WITNESSES: One other witness has seen tracks in his yard which is right behind where the witness lives.

ENVIRONMENT: The incidents have mostly occurred in a patch of pine trees about 25 to 30 feet tall. There is only a few houses in this area and surrounding area is a mix of pine forest, hardwoods, higher elevation and swamps.

Follow-up investigation report by BFRO Investigator Kim Fleming:

I have been investigating this report since April 2013. The witness has cast several sets of prints. The most recent set included a set of possible juvenile prints at 9.5 inches. See photo of the casts:

A larger print found was measured at 14.5 inches, here is a photo of the cast:

I also found a dumping station for road kill, not two miles from this location. Note the tree break and trail close to one of the deer carcasses dumped at the location:

January 2014 –
The witness reported seeing three large, dark colored creatures he thought were either people or possible bears, at the high point of a local ski area. The reported sighting was followed up by an immediate visit with the operators of the area. When they were asked about people being at the top of the hill, the response was, “No one is up there! No one can get up there! The slope is too steep and rocky!” The witness pressed in stating that he saw three figures at the top of the hill, but was repeatedly told that he must be mistaken. When the witness walked back out to his car, the figures were gone. The witness’ girlfriend also saw the three figures. Several families, including many children were sledding the area at the time.

Update Spring & Summer 2014 –
The creatures are becoming bolder, coming closer to an area where you would not expect them to be. (I am purposely being vague here to protect the site) One day after my husband and I visited the area, a huge spot was found on the ground nearby. We believe it was a urine spot due to the smell and the fact that the grass died immediately. The spot was approximately 2.5 feet in diameter and was close to the witness’ car. Another spot appeared the next day, only much smaller. I was concerned about the creatures coming so close and using urination as a sign to mark its territory. Other researchers familiar with habitation sights agreed that this was an aggressive move, but the witness does not feel frightened or intimidated. This was the time frame that the 2nd 14 inch print showed up. Shortly following my visit to the site, the witness called and stated that there was another 14 inch print type, different from the first. The witness believes there are two 14 inch print individuals, as one of them has a bend in the right foot like it was injured at one point.

Following is a list of other things going on: Prints on a window, white mucus like splatter on another window, hearing low vocalizations, sightings, a hand print, several prints believed to be knuckle prints, gifts being left (see pictures), stick structures built, rocks displays changed or moved, feathers and multiple sticks being left, structures built to copy ones built by the witness, different types of moans and chatter on occasion.
