Watch the Russian (Siberian) Bigfoot photos come to life, in a short animation.
There are several accepted definitions of the word classic. One widely used definition is “something of enduring interest, quality or style.” Another meaning is “something honored as definitive in its field.” Still another definition is “something noteworthy of its kind and worth remembering.” When it comes to encounters with large, hirsute bipedal animals, the sighting of one William Roe certainly fits the bill as a classic. In fact, to many who follow cryptozoological matters closely, Mr. Roe’s sighting might very well be the most important bigfoot sighting of all time.
In October of 1955, William Roe, a highway worker and experienced outdoorsman was spending time near Tete Jaune Cache, British Columbia. Roe was part of a crew working on a road in the area. Roe found himself with a day off and decided to take a hike and scout out a good area for a future hunt. Roe carried his rifle but was not really looking to take a shot that day. He decided to visit a rugged and isolated area on Mica Mountain where there was an old abandoned mine. Roe had taken a grizzly bear in this area the year before. What happened next is best described by William Roe himself.
What follows is a sworn affidavit filed on August 26, 1957 by Mr. Roe regarding his experience. The affidavit was drawn up by the legal department of the City of Edmonton, Alberta, made up of Allen F. MacDonald, B.A., L.L.B., City Solicitor, H. F. Wilson, B.A., Assistant City Solicitor and R. N. Saunders, Claims Agent. The affidavit was in response to a request from John Green who had asked Mr. Roe if he would agree to make an account of his sighting while under oath.
I, W. Roe of the City of Edmonton, in the province of Alberta make oath and say,
(1) That the exhibit A attached to this, my affidavit, is absolutely true and correct in all details.
Sworn before me in the City of Edmonton, Province of Alberta, this 26th day of August, A.D. 1957.

EXHIBIT A.
Ever since I was a small boy back in the forest of Michigan, I have studied the lives and habits of wild animals. Later, when I supported my family in Northern Alberta by hunting and trapping, I spent many hours just observing the wild things. They fascinated me. But the most incredible experience I ever had with a wild creature occurred near a little town called Tete Jaune Cache, British Columbia, about eighty miles west of Jasper, Alberta.
I had been working on the highway near Tete Jaune Cache for about two years. In October, 1955, I decided to climb five miles up Mica Mountain to an old deserted mine, just for something to do. I came in sight of the mine about three o’clock in the afternoon after an easy climb. I had just come out of a patch of low brush into a clearing when I saw what I thought was a grizzly bear, in the bush on the other side. I had shot a grizzly near that spot the year before. This one was only about 75 yards away, but I didn’t want to shoot it, for I had no way of getting it out. So I sat down on a small rock and watched, my rifle in my hands.
I could see part of the animal’s head and the top of one shoulder. A moment later it raised up and stepped out into the opening. Then I saw it was not a bear.
This, to the best of my recollection, is what the creature looked like and how it acted as it came across the clearing directly toward me. My first impression was of a huge man, about six feet tall, almost three feet wide, and probably weighing somewhere near three hundred pounds. It was covered from head to foot with dark brown silver-tipped hair. But as it came closer I saw by its breasts that it was female.
And yet, its torso was not curved like a female’s. Its broad frame was straight from shoulder to hip. Its arms were much thicker than a man’s arms, and longer, reaching almost to its knees. Its feet were broader proportionately than a man’s, about five inches wide at the front and tapering to much thinner heels. When it walked it placed the heel of its foot down first, and I could see the grey-brown skin or hide on the soles of its feet.
It came to the edge of the bush I was hiding in, within twenty feet of me, and squatted down on its haunches. Reaching out its hands it pulled the branches of bushes toward it and stripped the leaves with its teeth. Its lips curled flexibly around the leaves as it ate. I was close enough to see that its teeth were white and even.
The head was higher at the back than at the front. The nose was broad and flat. The lips and chin protruded farther than its nose. But the hair that covered it, leaving bare only the parts of its face around the mouth, nose and ears, made it resemble an animal as much as a human. None of this hair, even on the back of its head, was longer than an inch, and that on its face was much shorter. Its ears were shaped like a human’s ears. But its eyes were small and black like a bear’s. And its neck also was unhuman. Thicker and shorter than any man’s I had ever seen.
As I watched this creature, I wondered if some movie company was making a film at this place and that what I saw was an actor, made up to look partly human and partly animal. But as I observed it more, I decided it would be impossible to fake such a specimen. Anyway, I learned later there was no such company near that area. Nor, in fact, did anyone live up Mica Mountain, according to the people who lived in Tete Jaune Cache.
Finally the wild thing must have got my scent, for it looked directly at me through an opening in the brush. A look of amazement crossed its face. It looked so comical at the moment I had to grin. Still in a crouched position, it backed up three or four short steps, then straightened up to its full height and started to walk rapidly back the way it had come. For a moment it watched me over its shoulder as it went, not exactly afraid, but as though it wanted no contact with anything strange.
The thought came to me that if I shot it, I would possibly have a specimen of great interest to scientists the world over. I had heard stories of the Sasquatch, the giant hairy Indians that live in the legends of British Columbia Indians, and also many claim, are still in fact alive today. Maybe this was a Sasquatch, I told myself.
I levelled (sic) my rifle. The creature was still walking rapidly away, again turning its head to look in my direction. I lowered the rifle. Although I have called the creature “it”, I felt now that it was a human being and I knew I would never forgive myself if I killed it.
Just as it came to the other patch of brush it threw its head back and made a peculiar noise that seemed to be half laugh and half language, and which I can only describe as a kind of a whinny. Then it walked from the small brush into a stand of lodgepole pine.
I stepped out into the opening and looked across a small ridge just beyond the pine to see if I could see it again. It came out on the ridge a couple of hundred yards away from me, tipped its head back again, and again emitted the only sound I had heard it make, but what this half- laugh, half-language was meant to convey, I do not know. It disappeared then, and I never saw it again.
I wanted to find out if it lived on vegetation entirely or ate meat as well, so I went down and looked for signs. I found it in five different places, and although I examined it thoroughly, could find no hair or shells of bugs or insects. So I believe it was strictly a vegetarian. (TCH note: It was assumed by both John Green and Ivan T. Sanderson that Roe was referring to fecal matter located in the sighting location. In my mind, this is obviously the correct interpretation.)
I found one place where it had slept for a couple of nights under a tree. Now, the nights were cool up the mountain, at this time of year especially, and yet it had not used a fire. I found no sign that it possessed even the simplest of tools. Nor a single companion while in this place.
Whether this was a Sasquatch I do not know. It will always remain a mystery to me, unless another one is found.
I hereby declare the above statement to be in every part true, to the best of my powers of observation and recollection.
Signed William Roe
The sighting of William Roe has, of course, been dissected seven ways to Sunday. Critics most often point to the appearance of the creature’s breasts as reported by Roe and drawn by his daughter at his direction. They point to the fact that no other apes have hair on their breasts. Roe’s description is that the breasts did have hair with the exception of the area immediately surrounding the nipples. It should be pointed out that other primates, including human females, do have hair on their breasts. The hair is typically very thin, downy, short and lighter in color than the hair on the rest of their body but it is there. Some feel that perhaps the hair of the sasquatch remains constant in thickness and color over a higher percentage of its body than does the hair on humans or even other great apes. Why this would be is, of course, subject to speculation. To others, the hair on the breasts is a huge red flag that could indicate a hoax.
The most common criticisms involving the details described by William Roe are actually not criticisms of his sighting at all; rather, they are criticisms leveled directly at Roger Patterson and Bob Gimlin and the sasquatch they claim to have captured on film at Bluff Creek in October of 1967. Many who feel that the creature filmed by Patterson that day is nothing more than a man in a suit point to the similarities between Patty, as the Patterson subject came to be known, and the creature described by William Roe. The crowned head, the long arms that nearly reach the knees, the thick torso that does not taper from chest to waist and, yes, the hair covered breasts of the Patterson subject all are reminiscent of the creature described by Roe. Critics feel that it is likely Roger Patterson and any accomplices he might have had modeled their ape suit after the Roe creature. While there is no proof this is what happened (no ape suit has ever been found), it has failed to deter hardcore critics from making this connection.
Of course, there is another possible reason that the Patterson-Gimlin subject and the Roe creature look so similar. Simply, maybe this is what wood apes look like. Entertain the idea for a moment that William Roe, Roger Patterson and Bob Gimlin encountered female individuals of the same species. Would it not be expected that they would share a great deal of physical characteristics? A female lion looks very much any other female lion. Are there small individual variations? Yes, but each individual lioness is easily identified as just that. Do sow grizzly bears look like other sow grizzly bears? Yes, and they are easily identifiable as such. Female gorillas? Orangutans? Chimpanzees? It is the same no matter the species. Individuals of the same sex and belonging to the same species look very much alike. In my mind, the fact that the subject filmed by Roger Patterson looks so much like the creature described by William Roe could just as easily be turned around and used by supporters as strong evidence that the footage is genuine.
Another aspect of the Roe encounter that fascinates me is the reaction of the creature once it realized it was being watched. Roe stated, “Finally the wild thing must have got my scent, for it looked directly at me through an opening in the brush. A look of amazement crossed its face. It looked so comical at the moment I had to grin. Still in a crouched position, it backed up three or four short steps, then straightened up to its full height and started to walk rapidly back the way it had come. For a moment it watched me over its shoulder as it went, not exactly afraid, but as though it wanted no contact with anything strange.” I have often wondered how the creature interpreted Roe’s grin. Did Roe show his teeth? In the primate world this is often a signal indicating agitation or aggression. Is this why the creature backed cautiously away? Additionally, the way it retreated is of interest to me. After shuffling backwards three or four steps, the creature began to walk, not run, back toward the tree line. The creature even looked back at Roe over its shoulder as it strode away. William Roe described the retreating behavior as “not exactly afraid, but as though it wanted no contact with anything strange.” Sound familiar? Indeed, this statement could have come right out of the mouth of Roger Patterson or Bob Gimlin as it perfectly describes the retreat of their film subject. Critics of the Patterson-Gimlin footage have pointed to the measured and, seemingly, unafraid manner in which Patty walked away as unnatural behavior for a wild animal. To them, this is another red flag. Again, I feel the similarity of the Roe creature’s retreat to that of the Patterson-Gimlin subject could just as easily be used to bolster the claims of the two men that what they filmed that day was genuine.
The physical description given by William Roe of the creature he observed back in 1955 is one that has held up and been repeated time and time again by alleged sasquatch witnesses all over North America. The crowned head, thick non-tapering torso, incredibly broad shoulders, abnormally long arm proportions, wide feet and more continue to be described by witnesses today. Most of these people have never heard of William Roe. These similarities, reported over many decades, would seem to indicate that people are seeing real flesh and blood animals that belong to the same species.
To my knowledge the credibility of William Roe has never really been criticized. I have never read anything that would lead me to believe he might have been some sort of charlatan or hoaxer. Remember, this all took place almost three full years before the term bigfoot was used in a newspaper article describing prints found by Jerry Crew in Northern California and twelve years before the Patterson-Gimlin footage became an international lightning rod. Roe did some interviews regarding his sighting but later took the additional step of having a sworn affidavit drawn up detailing his experience for John Green. He simply did not have to do this. This, in my opinion, is not the sort of action a hoaxer would take.
It is my opinion that William Roe had the remarkable good fortune of observing a wood ape that October day back in 1955. It is also my opinion that people do not continue to tailor their descriptions of these animals today to fit some sort of template created by William Roe years ago; rather, the reason the description of the physical appearance of these animals given by so many matches that given by Roe years ago is simply due to the fact that this is what these animals look like. Obviously, I cannot prove it but I have always felt that the Roe account had the ring of truth to it.
Until discovery day truly arrives, that is about as much as we can hope for.

Joe was a German shepherd that my grandfather was trying to train to be a hunter, but he was too wild at times and would often tear after the prey before my grandfather gave the ok, and would ignore being called back. That all changed one night, however.
It was a damp and bitter November night around 1972. My grandfather was hunting deer late into the evening and he had brought Joe and his other dog, Sampson, along. They were deep into a pine wood when Sampson began whining and cowering. My grandfather noticed this strange behavior, but Joe seemed fine, so they continued on.
About five minutes later, a putrid stench seemed to fill the air. He described it as like human waste, a rotting carcass, and garbage all rolled into one. That’s when Joe began to react. He flattened back his ears and growled at something back in the darkness. Sampson, too, began to growl.
My grandfather had his spotlight with him and he shined it in the direction the dogs were barking. The next thing he saw gave him the chills. Two gleaming red eyes reflected back at him from an enormous black shadow about 40 yards away. He recalled the shadow being at least 8 feet tall. And he was certain that whatever this beast was, it was what was giving off the horrible odor.
My grandfather immediately grabbed hold of Sampson’s collar, but he wasn’t quick enough to grab Joe’s and the dog tore after the creature. The beast backed away slowly and retreated into the blackness, seemingly unalarmed. Fearful for Joe’s safety, my grandfather strained his ears. He listened to Joe’s barks and howls for some time when they began to fade and my grandfather turned to leave. He feared the worst, but did not want to be in those creepy woods with a strange creature on the loose anymore.
When he arrived home, he told the family what happened with Joe and the creature. Although he thought it a crazy story, with his family’s urges, he made a report about the creature to the police.
The next day, they were in for a shock when his son, Paul (my uncle), came home carrying Joe in his arms. He said he saw Joe on the side of the road when he was driving into town. He thought Joe was dead at first, since he was just lying there, but he wasn’t, just very, very frightened. Joe continued to cower and walk around with his tail between his legs, fearful of everything and anything.
The family was stumped. What kind of creature could possibly scare a youthful and hyperactive young dog to the point in which it was terrified of everything? In relation to this, apparently my grandfather wasn’t the only witness to this creature. Nine other reports were made to the police about it.
I would like to tell you something about where I grew up in Northern Oklahoma on a farm in the 1960s and ’70s. The location is somewhere west of Interstate I-35 in the northernmost part of Oklahoma. It was a very wooded area.
My uncle, who had lived in the area all his life, told a story about how when he was about eight or ten years old, he was going out to the outhouse one cold winter night (they didn’t have indoor plumbing in the old house yet) and said that as he tried to open the outhouse door, there was something inside it, preventing it from opening. My uncle said he was sleepy and cold and just wanted to do his business and be done with it and get back into the warm house, so he pushed his way into the outhouse with a bit of force. He was suddenly confronted by running right into a huge, stinking, hairy creature.
He first told me this story before I was aware of Bigfoot, and I don’t think he was ever aware of such things. I don’t recall the Patterson footage being general knowledge around there at the time, and I was curious about all things weird and wonderful and read up on the paranormal as often as I could.
Anyway, what he described back then now today seems like a pretty average description of a Bigfoot creature. He said he just bumbled face-first right into this wall of stinking fur (said it “smelled like a dead pig”) in the mostly dark outhouse and not knowing what was going on (there aren’t any bears around there) he looked up and saw a huge wide-eyed “monster face” staring back at him. My uncle let out a terrified scream (as you naturally would, being a kid in such circumstances) and said that the “thing” screamed back at him at the same time, seemingly equally frightened, and then it shoved him out of the way onto the ground and stepped over him and started running away across a nearby pig pen toward the woods and the river beyond.
My uncle says he was sat there on his butt on the ground screaming in fear and watching this big ape-like thing running away. It was a sort of comedy story when you envision a little kid and a Bigfoot frightening the bejesus out of each other in an outhouse, and I always loved that story and sometimes asked my uncle to tell it again because he’d be so animated when he did.
He said he ran back into the house screaming about “monsters” and woke everybody up. My grandmother confirmed this with a grin when she was still alive, and the whole family remembered the incident well. My uncle absolutely swore this was a true story, and years later, after learning about Bigfoot, it gave the story more credence to me. My uncle died many years ago, but his wonderful comic/horror story is still fresh in my mind because of the way he told it with wide eyes and an excited voice, even when he was an adult, and his absolute insistence that it was true.
Some years later, I had two Bigfoot encounters myself near there, but I won’t go into that here, as this is getting a bit long, but I will tell you of them at another time.
In mid July 2004 I was on my back porch it faces east and it faces a mountain I live in the woods on the side of my house where the creature was the house is scarcely wooded and the land is flat. The sun was shining. The reason I went out side is this, my dogs started to bark and run through the house they got half way through the dog door stopped an whined. I thought that was odd so I went and sat on the back porch. Then I saw the tree to my left move and the tree was about 300 yards away from me or less I am bad with measurements. So I watched the tree to see what caught my eye and then I saw the creature. It was behind the tree looking out from behind it. It’s head was in the branches and it was hunching. It’s head was large and it had a definite brow I thought I was seeing an orangutang. Except it was about 6 and a half feet tall. It was moving it’s head around the tree to watch me as I stood up to get a better look. It’s hair was a rust color like to color of dead pine needles, It’s eyes were haunting. And it was completely silent. It was watching me while I was watching it. I sat back down. I watched outside for about 6 minutes and didn’t tell the person on the phone.
Then I went in the house and watched through the window to make sure it wasn’t a trick of shadow. Then the creature moved in front of the tree, staying hunched over but watching me in the window. I watched a few more minutes and then went to the back of the house when I went back it was gone. While this was going on my kids were in the front yard playing in the water. I think if the creature had been aggressive it would have made some sort of move but it did seem peaceful. It seemed to be curious I think it was young to be in such a vulnerable open area.
When my husband came home we went out to the tree and all of the knapweed was completely trampled down around the tree. We didn’t find any hair though. I have never seen the creature again.
Discussion by David Paulides on missing people
PORT ANGELES, Wash. (AP) – Teams in Olympic National Park have expanded their search for a missing 60-year-old hiker.
Park spokeswoman Jacilee Wray says nearly two dozen people on Saturday finished a grid search around the area where Jim Griffin’s pack was found.
On Sunday, seven searchers are going further out from the trail near creeks and down steep slopes. Wray says searchers are looking in places where Griffin may have ended up if he got confused or lost during his hike.
Griffin hasn’t been seen since he went for a hike Monday on the Olympic Hot Springs Trail. His friends reported him missing Wednesday night after he failed to show up at a Christmas Eve dinner.
Monsters Underground host, Bill Brock has been in hot pursuit of a report out of Turner Maine. What Brock didn’t expect was to see when he got to the property was actual footage of something walking around a property. While the footage is not as clear as we would like, it’s obvious that the subject in the footage is a biped. In one cellphone video, the witness captured what appears to be a bipedal creature lurking in the trees. Watch the video for Bill’s reaction and the sincerity of the witness.
After several weeks where dogs went missing, trash bins ransacked, and other strange happenings in Kabetogama, John Simon declared that the township had been invaded by a Sasquatch. As evidence he produced several plaster casts of large apelike foot impressions, a tangle of brownish yellow hair, and photographs of powerful claw marks.
When Simon packed up enough camping supplies to last him several months, announced he was off to track the Sasquatch, no one paid much attention either. Simon was gone over six months before his friends and relations started to worry. A search party was organized. They scoured the State Forest for months. The State Police even got involved for a few weeks, organizing hundreds of volunteers but no trace was ever found of John Simon but people did notice the strange doings stopped just after he left to hunt the Bigfoot.
Happy New Year Guys and Gals!
Don and Barb [not their real names] spend the holidays every year visiting both of their parents in the St. Louis area, where they were born, grew up, met and married. For the last six years the couple has lived in rural Jasper County Missouri and normally leaves on the morning of Christmas Eve to make the four-hour drive. This year, however, they decided to make the trip the evening of the 23rd, hoping to avoid the worst of the holiday traffic.
At approximately 7:05 p.m. they were eastbound on I-44 and had passed the Phillipsburg exit in Laclede County by about three or four miles when they both saw large dark humanoid figure striding out into their lane from the right-hand shoulder, less than 100 feet ahead of their vehicle. As it was illuminated by their headlights they immediately knew what they were seeing. “It was a Bigfoot, no question about it,” Don told me during a telephone conversation less than three hours after their encounter. (When they reached their destination he immediately used the internet to look up my number and placed the call. “It wasn’t a small one, either. He was every bit of seven foot tall and was stocky enough to play pro football with any team in the league. I don’t know if it was a male or a female, but if they are like humans I would have to guess it was a male due to its size. In some ways it reminded me of the one in the old black and white film from out in California; it had that same arm swing action going and turned its head to glance at us without breaking its stride. It was like he judged the distance and our speed, decided we were not a threat, and lost interest. He was only walking at a moderate pace, but with the long strides he was covering some serious ground rather quickly. He crossed both eastbound lanes, the median, and we could still see him as he went across the other side of the freeway in the headlights of a pickup driving east. I know the driver saw it, because the brake lights came on and the truck came to a very sudden stop. So with the three of us (their eight-year old son was with them and saw the creature as well) that makes at least four witnesses, and maybe more. The traffic was pretty light on that stretch at the time.”
A few questions led to additional details of the creature’s appearance. “It was covered with real dark brown hair about three to four inches long all over,” he said. “I would guess his weight to be in the neighborhood of four hundred pounds and maybe more. The classic features that I have read about over the years were all there; the kind of pointy head, little or no neck, and less hair on the face than the rest of its body. The face looked much more like a human than an ape, although it did have a noticeable brow ridge and a broad nose. I didn’t see any eye shine when it turned its head to look at us, like deer and other animals have at night.
Don also said that the encounter was something that he had hoped for, but never expected to happen. “My brother lived out in Oregon for a while and saw one up close about eight years ago. He was all excited when he told me about it and I started reading up on them on the internet. I had read there and in your columns about the sightings in southwest Missouri in recent months, and believe me I have kept my eyes peeled whenever I was driving in a rural area, especially at night. Then here we are, driving down the Interstate with Christmas dinner and visiting with our family on our minds, and one just walks out in plain sight in front of us.”
The area where this encounter took place would have to be considered excellent territory for one of these reclusive yet inquisitive creatures to make it’s home and stake out it’s territory. There are many large tracts of forest nearby, including the virtual wilderness of Fort Leonard Wood just a few miles away to the southeast. There have been numerous sightings over the years in that part of the state, including multiple encounters on the military installation’s grounds.

Me and my family had moved to the Montgomery County area in October of 2001.In December I had noticed a old logging road leading into the Sam Houston National Forest from the sub-division which was still under development at the time.I haven’t hiked since I was a teenager so I decided to see where this road went when weather permitted. In April 2002 I had taken some vacation time from work and one afternoon after mowing I thought I would go for a walk a routine I continued for several days going further down the road and deeper into the woods with each trek.I had seen evidence of deer, hog, squirrel and even bear in the area. On the sixth day I walked by an area that had springs on both sides of the trail which alternated sides every so often. I noticed on this trip there was no animal sounds or activity and I felt watched. So I stopped and surveyed my surroundings and to the east of me about 25yds in the thick underbrush something quite robust in size and dark in color seemed to be crouched between a couple of trees looking in my direction. I thought it was a large hog or maybe a bear so I turned south heading toward home and this creature moved along with me keeping a distance of approximately 15-30yds between us at all times. We continued this kind of cat and mouse routine for about 20-25 minutes. I stopped to releave myself. Then suddenly I don’t know what possessed me to turn into the woods toward this creature. It stopped and crouched very low to the ground and remained perfectly still. I had gotten into about 10 yds. and I got wind of a strange odor I can’t describe I heard a low guttural growl coming from the creature’s area. I could see it was very dark in color and almost lying in a prone position much like a sniper lining up a shot it and human like legs only very hairy I could make out thick arms and shoulders also covered with thick hair probably no more 1-2″ in length. It was down almost as if it was trying to hide it’s face. I would estimate it to be no more than 6ft.tall.The hair on my neck stood up when I heard movement of something large moving in woods from across the trail behind me. I moved quickly back onto the trail and it seemed I wasn’t being followed so I slowed my pace, by this time I was about 100-125 yards from the point I had urinated I turned and saw this dark figure walk upright out of the east woods and stop at my puddle area it squatted for a few second then stood up and looked directly at me for a few more seconds. It head turned abruptly toward the west woods and much larger dark being came slightly into view they both watched me as I back peddled watching them for another dozen or so yards when I decide home was the best place to be and ran off.
ALSO NOTICED: Over the next three years of living in that area I would often feel being watched when I was outdoors.Loud crashing sounds from the woods.Times of no animal activity at all my dogs growling fearful towards the woods.Occasional chattering and screams.Foul odors.Sticks and debris coming from the woods And even eye shine one evening about 8ft.from the ground.Neighbor at the time said she heard grunts and groans some nights and her dog would shake.
Hello, my name is Thomas G., I live in Medford, Oregon, I travel to the Applegate Region, Del Norte,Humbold regions quite often, mostly Applegate in the Red Buttes Wilderness, I had a confirmed sighting June 3, 2009, and have had strange occurrences since 07 in this area.
I’m still very emotional about with what I seen, and can describe every moment. I didn’t know what was gonna become of me, because it’s weird trying to anticipate what it was going to do, it was 50 yards are closer to me, I watched as it ducked behind some brush by a boulder on the hill, looking down upon me. 6-7 foot tall before ducking down behind brush, ovalish head, Reddish/Dark brown fur, I seen the sunlight shining off of it’s shoulders which were as big as a linebackers with full gear, amber/brown eyes, flat faced, long hair matted, and big ass eyes staring straight through me, I was crippled in fear until the adrenaline started to kick in, and I ran, and jumped down the hill which was about 8 feet above the road, ran into my car, told my friend who was with me by the river, to get into the car now, we need to go, and I didn’t stop until I got home, and out of the woods. I had planned to spend the day there swimming, and fishing the Applegate River, I have to say we were only there for less than an hour, 60 miles away from my house, so it’d be a waste of gas to take that trip for only an hour, I left my house at 9:30a.m. and was back by 11:15, I admit I was speeding the whole way to my house.
If it were a bear, it would of crashed off into the woods before I even would of known it was there, cause it would of known I was there, or if it were a Mountain Lion, I probably wouldn’t be typing this to you. I know what I saw, it wasn’t a bear or cougar, they don’t walk on their hind legs. I grew up in the Wilderness of Klamath Falls, Oregon, I’ve seen the animals that God has put on this planet, and this isn’t anything I’ve seen before except on all these videos of sightings, Think of Patty, that’s what I saw, I dunno if it was threatening at all, it was to me, there’s been a lot of unsaid sighting that happen in the Red Buttes Wilderness which extends from the Ore/Cal boarder, to hwy 96 Siskyou county, Saied Valley, Happy Camp, Indian Creek Road, Oregon Caves National Monument, and probably 1000’s of more.I read on a report that a hippie farmer from Talkemla says that he and his cohorts since they were little have been warned about the bigfoot living in this area, and that they are highly territorial, aggressive, and traveling into this area, is putting yourself in opportunity/danger of running into one of these creatures.

At the time of this sighting I was homeless and living in my station wagon. I always took showers at a campground on Harstine Island. At about 11:30pm I was traveling north on the Island and was doing the speed limit and watching out for deer in the road because there are a lot of them on the Island. I was coming up to the grange hall turn where there is a connecting road that travels south on the eastern side of the Island. There is a hill at the point of the intersection and I slowed down to the recommended speed because there is a hairpin turn just down the other side.
As my light’s came over the top of the hill I could see into the large pasture next to the road where it turned left. It was a clear fall night and the moon was out so I could see very good.
I noticed something standing in the field couldn’t remember seeing it before. I thought it was a tree stump at first but there wasn’t one there before. Then I thought about the horses that are usually there in the daytime but it just wasn’t it. I was slowing down to about 10-15 mph so I could turn left when this thing turned it’s head and looked straight at me. I remember quickly slowing the car and almost came to a stop. As I rolled through the corner it turned in the same direction and walked at the same speed I was rolling.
It was absolutely HUGE! It wasn’t very far from my car maybe 40ft. The field is about 3-4 ft below the road and this thing towered over me so I had to look over the top of the steering wheel to see it. I could smell it and it burned my nose. My window’s were up but the heater was on. It took long stride’s and was actually moving faster than me and I stopped the car because I thought it was going to come over the barbed wire fence into the road in front of me. It walked down the fence line and I followed at a distance but I could still see it very clearly.
At the corner of the fence line the road turn’s sharply to the right and it just stepped over the fence with no trouble at all. I remember feeling scared to death and the hair on my body was standing up. It crossed the road at the corner and disappeared on the other side in the brush.
The turnoff to the park is about a 1/4 mile past that and to the left. I raced to the campground and took my shower as quickly as I could. I remember almost being in tears when I came out to get back in my car. I was still pretty shook up and I knew it was not far away from where I was.I usually stayed at the campground on those night’s but not that night.
The next day I returned to the area of the sighting and I didn’t see any horses or tree stump’s but I did see where the fence was pushed down. I talked to a friend of mine who lives on the Island and he said there were 3 or 4 of them there. I never came back at night again.
In July 1984 at about 11:00 p.m. my friend Will and I were traveling westbound on state route 4, when I noticed movement on the south side of the road. What I saw was a large black head and shoulders coming over the guardrail on the south side of the road. As I came to a stop, I turned on the high-beams and saw the creature step easily over the guardrail. It was about 8 feet tall with a kind of shiney black hair covering most of its body.
As the creature walked, I noticed it never quite straightened its legs, yet it had a graceful stride. Its arms hung fairly low, coming to just above the knees. It was very powerfully built with massive chest and arms. Even though it was covered with hair, I could see its muscles flexing in its legs and arms.
Most of the hair was an inch or two long with some maybe 4 inches on the back and shoulders. This thing was big. In my estimation it had to have weighed 800 pounds or more. As it neared the center of the road it actually turned and looked right at us. Doing so required it to turn its upper body as its head sat low between its shoulders. When it looked at us its brow furrowed in what I believe to be a look of anger. It looked really pissed off. I could see its palms as it swung its arms and noticed it had either no or very little hair in the palm area. Also the “soles” of its feet appeared to be devoid of hair. there was almost a hairline at the sides of its feet.
Also noticed was what appeared to be male genitalia , though the genitalia would have to be considered quite small when taking into account the size of the creature. It turned its head back to the forward position and continued across the road and out of my headlights.
On the right (north) side of the road here is basically a shear cliff. It had to have climbed right on up. There was no other place it could have gone. I actually turned my truck in the direction it was moving to see it and could not. My friend who was quite frightened, said “what the hell was that?” I believe my response was something like ” A damned bigfoot. That was a damned bigfoot” In my opinion, there’s absolutely nothing else it could have been.
