SC EP:230 Creatures chased us off of a deer lease

Spoke to the witness last night and the witness is still upset over the incident and rightly so. He writes “Wes, we were chased off the deer stand by two or more of these animals, after the chatter stopped,we could see them through the brush keeping up with the ATV, I would like to tell you my story”

If you have had an encounter email me wes@sasquatchchronicles.com

Scary encounter. Im glad they didnt harm you. Down there in east texas they are not nice at all. I hope you continue to spread the word that these things are real so that others can be prepared when they go out into the forest.
    Thanks wes. Youre the best.

Thank you for sharing Marc. When people question my interest in sasquatch I point them to here. If they want to hear believable encounters -episode 230, Tracy in episode 75 and the one where two brothers parked on a game trail to talk about life. Thank you Wes.

Just spoke to my brother in-law today about getting back on a deer lease with him in Northeast Texas…This just made my mind up for me!!
Couple of years ago when I was on it before, we were setting around deer camp talking to one of the guys that managed the lease and he spoke of an encounter he had. Think I will contact him and see what else I can find out and if he knows about SC.

I am so glad he didn’t shoot the sasquatch. It only would have made it worse for the next guy. I am curious if most hunters feel like the wild creatures don’t have any right to defend their turf at all? If they object to human presence by growling then they might get shot for showing their displeasure. Whatever happened to mutual respect? Maybe the sasquatch considered the humans to be poachers too. Try TALKING to them the next time you encounter them. Just like any other person you meet you would introduce yourself to them. I not saying that they are going to come up and high 5 you but it might make them at least back off a bit if you respectfully recognized their presence and their turf. Just sayin.

Loved this one. He was really upset and you could tell. You did a good job Wes, as usual, and the details were stunning. I’m sorry his son won’t go anymore, but I hope they find somewhere they are comfortable again.

I’m 49 yrs old and have Lived and hunted in east tx all of my life. I have believed in these creatures all my life. I guess for years I didn’t believe they were in east Texas. This encounter crazy! I wish I knew what general area this happened.

  6. Ginger T

My gosh…I’m so happy my encounter wasn’t aggressive I would NEVER step foot in the woods again … Went out to our deer lease today in central Texas, in the middle of nowhere, no phone service. We had 1 of our game cameras ripped from a tree about 6 feet up & smashed … But that’s about all. I looked for Bigfoot as we walked around & checked all the feeders & cameras. I always look for ’em. This is one of my new favorite episodes. The chatter, the smell, the way they move…wow so happy this dude made it out of there safe. We took a 22…I think we need to be better armed when we go out. Grat job Wes. Great show.

    • David R

Ginger, I try to tell people to put the camera up as you can get it, or even climb up the tree to keep it out of eye level. I don’t know if it will work, but it could! They could be watching you all the time, so be careful!

A simple single action Ruger .44 mag should be every hunters sidearm (Or similar depending on taste) It will bring down any big game if you are threatened, and have no choice. I would not shoot a BF unless it became a life and death matter, I would try to back out and give them their space. Great show!

    Mark,
Thanks for sharing, that was quite the encounter. Hang in there buddy.
Now that youre living in the Mogollon Rim, you ought to consider contacting J.C. Johnson of Crypto Four Corners. He has been researching bigfoot in the southwest for many years and is another good information source.
3 years ago in the Sierras my son and I breifly heard the chatter and got nailed with the stink, later having a rock thrown near us. But our encounter, particularly the chatter aspect, was nothing compared to yours.
Again, I appreciate you sharing as you have given me more to think about and helped me to understand a little better.

    Thanks,
    Reed

  8. Reed D

    Wes,
Great interview. Certainly one of your best. Thanks for having Mark on, his encounter helped me undestand some things a little better.

Great interview. Great witness. With so many credible people telling about their encounters, how could one not believe these creatures exist? I like to think there are still mysteries on this earth and we don’t know absolutely everything. Thanks Wes.

    • Nancy A

Not talking about making friends. Talking about mutual respect. These creatures live in the woods full time. Hunters don’t. Need to learn to co-exist. Sasquatch have rights too guys. Nobody was charged or physically damaged in this encounter. They were “walked out” of the sasquatch territory.

  10. Mary W

An AR15 seems so small at times like that! I was hoping for more tales of the mogiean rim! Hope mark comes back with future encounters to share ! Ty 4 sharing your experience! Ty 4your time.

I’ve been listening to eyewitnesses for decades now and this gentleman absolutely is telling the truth. He never stumbles with any words, has immediate and precise answers to Wes’ questions and sounded quite affected by the experience based on his voice pattern. Also, he has no desire to become a researcher and insists on staying away from this area of woods which comes across as quite genuine.

I grew up in East Texas. Along the Sabine River bottoms south of Lake Fork. I remember as a kid riding my bicycle along old oil top roads and running into “walls of stink” on occasion. I just chalked it up to something dead on the side of the road. However, after hearing so many accounts of the stench associated with these things I wonder if maybe it wasn’t so simple. I also remember going to a junkyard with my dad this old man had on his property that was about a mile south of the Sabine River going towards Grand Saline. I overheard him talking to my dad about how “those damn river monkeys have been raising hell again.” I was maybe 12 at the time and thought he was just an old racist talking about the folks who fished underneath and around the bridges that crossed the river near his property. Now, I’m not so sure. Which further more brings back from memory my dad telling me to watch out for the old man of the woods at dusk and not to “mess with him”. I thought he meant some old hermit who lived in the thick woods in the area we lived in but again I wonder.

  13. June P

Wow!!! It is awesome to hear a hunter’s accounts. They are out there in the woods A LOT, and when they see Sasquatches, you know it’s going to be good. Guess it’s two predators in the same space, a perfect mixture for a scary encounter!

  14. Rod C

I would have driven the four wheeler outa there top speed until I ran out of gas somewhere a long ways away. Camp trailers offers little protection. Hard shell on the outside, chewy on the inside.

  15. Black-YETI

    Good Show!
I really like the hunter encounters as they spend a lot of time in the woods and know the wildlife in the area.
East Texas seems to be hot or maybe its just a cycle? I have driven thru there before but never stopped.
Man looking back this caller had such a chance to film one or kill one if he wanted too!!!
I have a FoxPro caller myself and the sounds you can play are awesome. He played a pig in distress and that must have fired up the squatch and called him/it in.
There was another show where a hunter used a call but would not say what sound he used and it WORKED!
As far as cameras a handful of PLOT Watchers work great during the day time. They put off no IR and just keep taking pictures.

  16. Bal G

After interviewing this guest for an hour, why didn’t he specicify what part of East Texas this so called encounter took place? In the future, Wes please get the guest to give the general location of his or her encounter. It does not have to be the exact place, just the general area. Thank you.

  17. Anthony H

This is what I’ve been waiting for… Someone to say they saw it make the sound!!!! Absolutely loved this show, thank you for sharing and thanks Wes …. I’ll be giving you a call soon to share my experience.

  18. Diana I

Wow!! What a frightening experience. I felt like I was there as he was telling his encounter. One of the best encounters so far. Thanks Marc and Wes. Keep em coming!!

  19. Seamus J. C

A full sasquatch encounter: saw road (creek) crossing, heard chatter, nailed with the Stink, paced in ATVs, growled at, roared at, flanked. Fascinating, but SO glad I wasn’t there. Mark, you’re a trooper–and then to go live by the Mogollon Rim!

I worry about your intention to shoot one–where there’s one, there’s three, or four, or more. You would more likely be putting yourself in danger, Mark, more so than if you just carry the firearms as a visual deterrent. Or so it seems from past stories, there are some in which one sasquatch takes huge hits and just keeps on coming. Imagine a troop of them, and they’re all enraged at you! Something to think about, anyway. I’ve read some discussion about how could it be possible for them to keep going after being hit with large caliber rounds like that? …Comparing them to cape buffalo in Africa, some speculation that they have a reservoir of oxygen in their cells that can keep them going even if their lungs are ruined, and so forth.

Point is, no one would have been having this discussion had people not witnessed them continuing to run or attack after being shot with rounds that should have taken them down.

Also, the people present at the Siege at Hanobi (spelling?) seem to have brought on that sustained group attack by shooting one of them, if I remember correctly.

And I want to thank you for your raw frankness in telling your story. I felt like I was right there, almost.

    Take care, man!

  20. James

Mark, I live about an hour from Fred Texas. I have spoken to a few people from southeast Texas. A lot of activity north of Beaumont around the Neches River. What I would do is look for water ways between Fred and the Neches. That’s where I’d look.

  21. Seamus J. C

Mark, I’m wondering how much of the animals who “chased you out” of the lease you saw? You obviously could tell that they were big–you said so–I’m just wondering how much of them you saw, if you could see that they were tall like bigfoot, or if you had any idea if they were walking upright on two legs at that time? Obviously you were assuming at that moment that they were pigs, I’m just wondering if you caught a glimpse of a leg or torso, head or anything at that time.

I’m assuming you came to the conclusion that they were, after all, bigfoots and not pigs.

    Thanks!

  22. Greg T

Love these east Texas stories. When different witnesses do that chatter sound, that weirds me out. That chatter is on my list of things not to hear in the woods. Thanks for telling your story.

  23. Jane M

That was like drinks, dinner, desert, a smoke and after dinner drink Wes. Damn a good old fashioned Sasquatch episode and it WAS 100% real…hands down genuine report! Thanks for the excellent interview. Loved his imitation of Asiatic Samuri dialect. Cool!

  24. Spanky

Mark thanks for telling us your encounter. I live in Orange and have been in the east Texas piney woods all my life. I even lived in pineland for a while. Your encounter really hit home. Never seen them but I am a believer. Scary stuff

  25. Barbara S

This show and the guest is one reason why I recently subscribed rather than spend my money on the much more well known Coast to Coast. Wes has so many guests who seem extremely credible.
I will have to go back and find Tracy’s show number 75. This should be a safe place for experiencers.

  26. Bryan H

Great story Wes, it’s guys like you who will bring this Epidemic to reality, while being so humble. Thanks for putting fear ASIDE, for sealing the truth. A true patriot.

  27. John L

Shannon S i also live outside of orange not far from sabine river off 87 past papermill. U need not go far to find one these creatures here. 2 years ago when i moved my family here from louisiana i realized these things were traveling the canal that borders the back of my property that runs into sabine river. One night i heard my lil girl giggling and talkn thru the monitor we kept by our bed. I got up n walkt thru the house to her room and as i pusht her door open my blood ran cold as i saw my two yr old baby girl standn at foot of her bed with curtains pulld back no more than foot away from whatever the hell this thing is. I made her come to me as this thing glared at me whole time. Wasnt even afraid of me. Last 2 yrs have changed our lives drastically. We see them frm time to time. Mostly door knobs turn house gets banged on. Goats will come up missing from the field beside the house. Round october as starts to cool at night things ramp up alot thru winter. Just go to river bottom at night alone and build small fire. Theyll find u befre long.

    • Spanky

No shit!?! Wow!! As for finding me that ain’tbe happening! Where are you ? Deweyville? I guess I’m like everyone else. I’ve ran the Sabine all my life hunting fishing trapping. Never would have believed it. Maybe we can get together sometime. I would like to see some evidence

  28. Anthony L

One night my family and I came home it was 11pn when we pulled in the driveway got out of the car walked in the house and my wife walked into the bathroom and came running back out saying someone was outside messing with the window and said she turned the light off looked out the window and someone was standing there and looked like he had a hood on she could only see the outline because of the way the moonlight was. I grabbed my gun and flashlight went outside and couldn’t find anything now the strange part is I measured where she said the top of the head was and it was 7ft 5 -7ft6. I’ve heard screams that sound like a monkey imitating an owl I’ve heard rocks being banged together wood knocks and have had the house slapped a few times. I’ve got a growl and sounds like wood knocks on audio and what looks like a face peeking around a tree on one of my game cams. Sorry long comment hearing the guy say it looked like guys with hoodies on got me to thinking I should share my experiences

  29. Jan W

Wow! Fantastic show! Really interesting to hear Mark’s description of the “wall of stink”; they must have a scent gland , as he stated and as Dr. Miller confirmed. All of the details provided were excellent. Wonder if the creatures dug the 2 large holes/pits mentioned? I also thought Mark’s rendition of them talking was good and that it sounded very similar to some of the actual Sasquatch recordings.

This is a perfect example of why people need to be aware of these creatures. I wonder if the property owner knew? So glad no one was hurt, but I have no doubt Mark was in danger the last night there. Terrifying experience. And now he is out at the Mongollum (sp?) Rim! Stay safe, Mark.

    Thanks for the great show.

  30. Marc C

I’m in Arizona, too. Have had two encounters up on the Mogollon Rim. I’d talked with Mitch. Didn’t care for all his paperwork and rules, etc. RIP, Mitch.
