SC EP:193 Primal fear of being hunted

Tonight I welcome Jeremy to the show. He was recently out on expedition in East Texas and talks about his experience. Jeremy had a piece of concrete thrown at him in the middle of the night and then was roared at. He will be sharing this along with a short sighting he had while he was down there.

I will be also welcoming Robert to the show. Robert talks about an Appalachian trail encounter with “tall brown man.” The witness and his son were hiking and decided to stay in a shelter along the Appalachian trail when they encounter a strange creature the witness says “It was NOT a bear or a man.”

My final guest had a scary night hiking into a remote location. Ben talks about seeing the creature outside of his tent and being harassed all night by several creatures. The witness writes “Wes, I had an experience last year that left no doubt in my mind as to the existence of Sasquatch.

I told my dad about it and he said I should check out your show, he started listening after being screamed at in Idaho by an animal that he had never heard before and with a powerful set of lungs. I had a previous encounter the same year but was in denial about the whole thing. Its a pretty hard thing to wrap your head around…. The latter of the two experiences happened in a national park in Nevada while on a backpacking trip with a friend. The experience lasted around three hours starting at two in the morning. Ive never felt that kind of terror in all my life, it was like the primal fear of being hunted, there was more than one. There hasn’t been to many nights since that it hasn’t been in my thoughts as I try to go to sleep. I’m not a skittish guy and have logged more time in the woods than most people my age, thirty six by the way. I’ve been up close and personal with most of the big game animals of North America. My dad is a wild life artist and avid outdoors man and I was home schooled giving me the opportunity to spend countless hours in the back woods bow hunting, backpacking and exploring ect… I have never heard or seen anything like this before. I feel like it would help if i could talk about it with some one that knows the kind of fear that come’s along with running into to these things at close range. If you want get in touch with me and hear what happened I would love talk with you! you’ve got a great show and I’m sure that you have helped a lot of people by giving them a safe place to share stories that would other wise never be heard.”

I’m soo sick of we witnesses having to justify and qualify our sightings by saying “it wasn’t a bear”….I’m not bashing the witness by any means…if I’m bashing anyone its the “Finding Bigfoot” retards….especially The large woman that wears comfortable shoes….:)….if I had a dollar for every time she said “it was a bear”……Uugh….maybe when a Bigfoot is on all fours a bear misidentification argument could be made…bears awkwardly waddle for short distances on two feet…..misidentification of a biped humanoid for a bear on two feet is 99% impossible.

    • Matt P

It’s tantamount to calling the person an idiot to their face, point blank. A bear expert could see a Sasquatch and swear by it, and someone would still ask or insist it was a bear instead. People be dumb yo.

Cold mountain, NC? I’m trying to find the highway 60 and “widgeon springs” road in the vicinity of Cold Mountain NC…..can anyone “talk me on” to this area? ….I loved the weaving of the waitress remark into the account…it added a cool “creep factor”…great account. Wish I could hear his boys point of view since we have multiple witnesses of the same event.

Three really great ones! Enjoyed hearing Jeremy’s take on the expedition.. a really good experience. The others were scary! So, seeing shadows on tent wall??? Terrifying, just terrifying. Great job Wes, and hope you continue to recuperate fast! Thank you, and your guests.

This must be how frustrating it is to be David Paulides. Professionals will rule out any possibility of human or known animal involvement in a disappearance and dumb people will still claim one or the other. Ugh, no, sorry, it wasn’t a serial killer on the Appalachian trail, or East Texas, or anywhere else this is going on, serial killers get caught and the Zodiac killer’s dead or slurping jello in a rest home by now. No person(s) this successful, organized, or motivated across this much time and geography in killing people out in the wilderness. Lazy logic pervades, we’ll jump from A to D without accounting for B and C, cause it’s easier that way.

You should never cling to your opinion like this when you’re not trained or even educated on the subject, much less on a professional level… Very annoying to have to listen to that. I would just assume when law-enforcement, search and rescue, or even the FBI says another person or known animal wasn’t involved, you know, they might have some idea of what they’re talking about?

I’m like five episodes behind because I can’t listen to member content after I paid for a six month subscription in October plus I’ve been a member since the start of this website back in December of 2014. I tried getting in contact with the support staff today but got nothing back

    • Rich A

I’m sure the solution is on the way. Hang in there. Btw I hope you make it out to one of the Texas expeditions. I think you mentioned busting your butt trying to pay for it. Looking forward to hearing your experience!

Good listening Wes… and you were right about Appalachian trail,, Georgia to Maine, many disappearances…. or even the Long Trail in Vermont,,,,, Poooof!!.. they’re gone……… Ciao

  8. Robin B

Thank you!!!! Ben, I know exactly what you’re talking about!!! The vibrations of the footsteps and tge OK feeling afterwards….I hear so many encounter stories and people expressing the same emotions and thoughts. For many years I blamed the poor bears because denial is a good happy place. Sometimes yes, it’s better some stay there, for me I’m relieved to have Sasquatch Chronicals
Thank you Wes! You really do help people
    Thank you all

  9. Katana B

Ben’s stories completely terrified me. Were all his encounters in the Utah-Idaho area????? I was planning on doing a hiking/backpacking trip this summer up in the Uinta’s and now I’m not so sure… I was really hoping Bigfoot was not up there! Great show, thanks for sharing!

It never fails to turn my stomach to here people say these things need our protection ! BS ! No more cockroaches ! They been as long as they have and are about as endangered ,Last ly you finally bag one ! The Govt and this Wussy attitude will have your ass out of the woods liven in the city for life ! On the same trumped up crap ! That these things need protection BS !

You know I find it absolutely rediculous that many sceptics want to criticize the believers and the knowers. I say knowers because there are those who believe and those who know that these animals exist. I myself didn’t know but wanted to know if this was just tall tales or truth. I did my research online. That persuaded me to go out and look for signs. Now me being a hunter and trapper never had any experiences nor signs in the areas where I hunted and trapped. So me being someone who wanted to know if these animals were real went to other areas where there were reports. By doing this eventually I found signs. So from seeing or hearing signs (snapped high tree limbs ,twisted limbs, structures, complete silence ,knocks etc.) I wanted more proof . To get more proof I had to get out there more. After, my God at least a hundred times of going to these areas and spending hrs at a time walking through them and camping in some of them the proof was beyond clear. I’m sorry but anyone who knows animals especially native species and does a little research should know it’s not a native species of chimps or monkeys going ballistic with their calls in the woods in the United States . It’s not a gorilla from Africa that’s loose in the woods banging trees to let me know it’s near then whistling and then growling . you in my eyes have to be a fucking moron if you want to criticize all these witnesses without getting your lazy ass out there . Getting Out there is not going in the woods once seeing nothing then talking shit. I mean really get out there and I personally believe that your chances are much more likely to see something if you go with the least number of people possible. Sorry I just had to get that off my chest . It just really makes me look at those who talk shit and say wow you really are a fuckin idiot to say this yet you do zero outdoor research . I’m from Boston and there probably aren’t any in this part of Massachusetts(I’ve never seen any signs in the Boston area nor has anyone else yet to my knowledge ) . However if you take a drive out to western ma , New Hampshire ,Maine or probably any large wooded area ( miles and miles of forest) I’m sure you could find the truth. Also for those who want to say the government says they don’t exist. I’ve got news for you , the government lies all the time and has been for a long time. Do your research and you will see that that’s true too. I believe that’s why the gov won’t admit to these animals because then people might say “hey they had to know about these animals. so if they lied about this what else are they lying about. “

  12. Paul S

I find it really hard to believe any scientist who does the research outdoors in hot areas to not know there’s much more to this. Can’t help but look at that scientist as a fucking moron too. I’m sure if a scientist put the proper time in a hot area he would change his opinion rather quickly. Go to these areas right before dark and during the night repeatedly and you will know the truth.

There may be another option to proving the existence, and vindicating those who have been harassed, oppressed, and/or ridiculed. This option would also be agreeable to those who have aneurysms over the thought of one being killed to produce a body:

Expose those entities and individuals responsible for the threats against those who have viable evidence. Darkness cannot work in the light.

    • Eddie M

I was totally shocked that many people were calling a guy a “known hoaxer” and even “thinker Thunker” … But, not one would say “why” or “how” they know. Really makes me think they’re plants…paid or stand to gain by discrediting the subject.

  14. David D

Great comment, Steven B.! Kinda goes into the category of those who “suppress the Truth in unrighteousness”. Any truth, that points people in the right direction will be suppressed, held down.

Simply awesome Show, Wes! I’ve listened to it 3 times, so far!???????????????? ???????? Great guests with amazing, and bone-chilling, encounters! The plight of poor Ginger, the Retriever, really got to me. Ginger’s human may not have come away from that night’s encounter as a ‘knower’, but poor Ginger certainly did! ????????

    http://www.appalachiantrail.org/home/community/news/2012/04/25/federal-authorities-have-offered-a-$10-000-reward-for-information-leading-to-the-conviction-of-the-death-of-a.t.-hiker-scott-lilly-in-virginia-last-summer

Ayers said, “Any information, even if it seems trivial, may be the piece that solves the puzzle.”
Morehart said the combined investigative team—including National Park Service A.T. rangers, U.S. Forest Service law-enforcement officers, and Virginia State Police—has conducted 83 interviews of hikers, maintainers, and others, “in multiple states and two other countries,” including all long-distance hikers known to have been in the area in that time period.
Timothy J. Heaphy, U.S. attorney for the western district of Virginia, noting ATC’s involvement as well, said that “the level of cooperation on this case…is remarkable.” He stressed that his office is placing a high priority on this open case, as well as “unsolved murders” along the Blue Ridge Parkway and a 1996 killing of two women hikers away from the Trail in Shenandoah National Park, but right now he has seen no connection among them.

Duenas, declining to provide more specifics about the coroner’s report or the “many possibilities” being investigated, said the reward announcement and news conference “are part of the investigative strategy—to generate more leads,” particularly from 2011 hikers who might not have seen last August’s news reports and from 2012 hikers noticing something unusual. “I have no reason to believe the Trail is any more dangerous. Hikers just have to be aware and take all the normal precautions.”

Wes great show. You caused the hair on the back of my neck to stand on end when you said the Texas bigfoot mimic owls, but they always mess up the ending of the call. My wife and I and another hunter/friend of ours heard that around November of 2013. We were at our deer lease north of Brownwood,TX. We were sitting around the campfire when we heard a loud owl about 60-70 yards up a small hill to the west of us. We all perked up and looked at each other for a couple of reasons. First, this was our fourth season on this deer lease and we’d never heard an owl before, and secondly and perhaps most importantly, after hooting for a few seconds the ending would turn into a weird trailing “woo” sound, did it three times in a row, and we went “WTF!” The hoot sounded genuine enough, but loud, the trailing woo sound was human sounding. It was very strange to us.

    • M B

Pete, glad you posted this about the mimicking. I knew that I had recorded, with my video camera, the sound of an owl just prior to my encounter in Oct 2013. I’m going to review my recording to compare with Sibley.

Great show. Thanks to Jeremy, Robert, and Ben.

I felt so sorry for Robert’s dog! Wonder if the creature zapped the poor thing with infrasound? And then it sat between Robert and his son the entire night in sub freezing temps to stay on alert. What a great dog!

And the death of Mr. Lilly on the AT is horrible. Interesting the coroner is not releasing more “specifics”.

  19. JEREMY E

Thanks chuck. My email has been down since the show
    But it’s Jedwards@norriscollisioncenter.com

Anything you have would be great to hear. I thought your show Friday was great too Sorry Wes was so sick. That just proves what a believer he is though. It was awesome meeting you. Let’s plan another one together. This time I’ll leave my buddy back. Poor guy can’t get around any more since his accident. Feel sorry for him.

    Jeremy

Sounds great Jeremy, still working on the audio, having a small issue with transferring files but I’m getting there. Let me know when your e-mails back up, got a few picks but I was very disappointed. Doesn’t look like anything we saw! Anyway, got some leads on a couple of areas here in Oklahoma that I’m tracking down…..ill let you know!
    Thanks,
    Chuck

    • Randy S

I’m also wondering if the government is poking around again. Last time with the Texas/Bob site shut down, Will & Sharon leaving, all the trolls spaming, attacking member comments, harassing Wes. Let’s hope And support Wed here. At least I saved #! On my Kindle. Wes hang in there buddy!

I would say the gentleman is UNDER informed on MANY topics. Take the cougar for instance. I live in East Tn. That makes us neighbors. An according to TWRA the Cougars are making a come back, well enough so that we had the first cougar hunt this past season. Now the people who are supposed to know such things say some Mountian lions have a Territory that can span as much as 370 sq. miles . Knowing all of that a cougar wandering into a Forrest near him doesn’t seem that big of a stretch when you have all the facts.
Note- TWRA =”Tennessee Wildlife Resources Administration”

I intentional left out wich national park it was For safety concerns. I think that people who haven’t ever been around one of theses creatures think they would like to see and experience it for them selfs not realizing how much their lives will be effected. I have trouble sleeping and wake up frequently, I have really no one to to talk to about it and the main reason I agreed to come on the show was to be able to ask Wes a few questions. I defiantly felt like this thing wanted to kill me and the 45 auto and thirteen round magazine wasn’t enough to stop it. Funny enough the laser sight I had was very effective in backing it away from my tent. I forgot to mention in the interview how torn up the ground was around my tent. I spent about an hour looking for prints in the morning and found nothing good enough to take a picture of but I did find the skid marks from when this thing charged my tent. I’ve heard people talk about shooting one of these creatures and although I’m sure they could be killed after seeing the size of this animal I would not recommend it. I left some details out of the interview, I’m not really sure why but here’s a few more details. The pine chucking incident happened in the mountains of southen Utah. My parents were screamed at in the mountain near McCall. The track we found was within forty miles of Florence Idaho, which used to be a mining camp. The national park incident happened in Nevada and I’ll just leave it that.

~Thanks for sharing Ben. Long ago, when expecting my first child, we lived in Utah. We’d go up in the mountains and hike around. Sometimes I’d want to sit my myself while my husband hunted. It’s just wrong that we weren’t better informed. Thankfully nothing bad ever happened, but I see now how we took risks we shouldn’t have taken. Utah is such a beautiful place, as well as other places I’ve been, and didn’t have a bit of fear. Fear is a safety guard that I’m sure was built into us for a reason – but of course rebellious young people just know that their parents are silly fearful. Anyway Thanks again. I’m amazed at how much I learn from every encounter story I hear on this site. Wes is rare. God Bless you and yours. _marlene

~Protecting the Creatures (according to the guest)? How about the truth becoming known so PEOPLE are given the proper and truthful warning and tips of how to stay SAFE. I believe (and of course I could be Wrong) that the government is already protecting these animals, and don’t want to tell anyone because it would put a damper on the bottom dollar if it was known (among other reasons). They are PROTECTED, People are in ignorance.

Sometimes when you hear these witness reports they’re like, I didn’t know what I was looking at… so we’re left vulnerable. Well, tell me, do Native American lie? What about numerous reports, then society pegging the witnesses as kooks. Something is wrong with this picture. Something is so wrong with this picture…
