SC EP:176 Hunter watches Sasquatch from ridge

I will be speaking to “D” and he writes “I was walking to my hunting spot late one afternoon and I saw a creature break a tree. This thing was wounded in the shoulder and it’s left arm hung limp. I don’t know if it was shot or hit by a car but it’s arm wasn’t being used. I was heading to my spot an it had rained the night before, it was the 2nd day of buck season. This creature broke a 6 inch tree using its right foot and it’s right hand.

I was squatted down in some mountain Lorele an watched it for about 10 to 12 min. The creature broke apart an old stump, I think it was eating ants. The creature milled around some and sniffed the air. I thought it  could smell me but I was up on a ridge line. It looked around but I don’t think it ever knew I was there. I would like to speak with you and share with you the details of what I saw.”

East Texas Sasquatch Expeditions

Bob Garrett will be coming on the show tonight to talk about some of the things they are planning for their East Texas Sasquatch Expeditions. You might be interested in some of things they are planning including having a commercial drone pilot on site during the expeditions. I may even make an appearance in February. I spoke to Mo and they currently have expeditions underway for February and March.

Great episode! He really got a good long look at the creature. Very interesting description. Living the life that they seem to I can just imagine how many times they get hurt hunting, foraging, running away from any situation, maybe internal fighting etc. It seemed to be foraging okay though, so maybe it will heal in time. If anything, I wish we could just tag them for satellite tracking like they do sharks. Now that would be a great way to get more information, wouldn’t it?

Great show as always Wes. I enjoyed hearing about “D’s” encounter. He was very observant and gave great details. And he gave you, Wes, the best reference as a show host. I was thrilled that he had such a great impression from just talking to you that one time. It’s something we all have of you Wes. I hope “D” will stay and be apart of our family.

Always great to have Mr. Garrett on the show! Really enjoyed “Ds” encounter. I felt I was right there with him watching this creature. I also liked his wisdom on how he handled the whole situation, I would have been shaking in my boots! You are getting better at asking questions about descriptions with every show Wes! Merry Christmas everyone and my prayer is for Peace on Earth for all.

Dave thank you for coming on the show and sharing your encounter. What make and model is your range finder? From a little research it seems like most models are 1550nm. IR goes from 700nm on up. 1550nm is actually in the microwave range. Anyways people can see IR up to about 1000nm-1050nm.(think red hot stove top burner) So I am not surprised that bf can see see IR especially considering how good their night vision is. I’ll bet that bf IR range is not up into the 1400nm+. Additionally I think bf and humans cannot see any IR when the visible light overpowering it. Just like a red hot stove top is seen very well in low/no light but with bright light cast upon it, you cannot see it, or less so. I suppose they could see ir very well during the day if their eyes are in shadows, like back in their deep eye sockets.

Another favourite encounter. Great job, Dave.
Just have to mention that I’m booked for February expedition. Can’t wait!. I’m already packed, too. LOL

Love the mission statement. It means a lot to someone like myself who likely never have the opportunity to experience anything even remotely close to a BF encounter.
Thanks Wes, Bob, Mo. See you February 5th.

GAME CAMS, NIGHT VISION QUESTION: Wes, or anyone who has these devices. Can you recommend any night vision goggles and/or cameras? I have a limited budget but was interested in a decent quality night monocular or binocular. ARe the cameras mounted separately or are these all-in one- units. Really enjoy have Bob back on Wes. Thank you.

Thanks wes for another interesting show! D’s encounter was fascinating. I feel bad that the creatures arm was injured..hate seeing animals hurt. It would have been amazing watching this sasquatch though. Thanks again and merry christmas!

  9. Jan W

Thank you so much for sharing your fascinating encounter. I thought your observations and descriptions of the creature were amazing and that you did a good job conveying what you saw. Also, so sorry to hear of the loss of your friend, Jay.

  10. Pat T

Wes, thanks again for making this a safe haven for your guests. That’s one of your best qualities is your ability to listen and make people feel comfortable. Merry Christmas! ‘D’ thanks for your story, I enjoyed it!

Amazing sighting, you mentioned it had hair reddish-brown with blonde highlights. Can you elaborate on that? Where were the highlights located on the head, arms, legs or everywhere?
    Thanks,
    Brian.

    • Dave J

Brian S about the blond highlights they were all over it reminded me of an animal that was maybe shedding a Sumer coat an growing a thicker lighter in colder winter coat because like I said his hair was thicker in some spots an I only saw him turn around once so most of what I saw was his back

Wes had a good point. Whoever has the nerve to actually pull the trigger and then actually bring in a body is gonna be in a world of hurt. That’s a conversation in itself. Who is willing to accept the probable ruined life as “The One”. ?
Alas begins the Pompei closer. Bittersweet if you know what I mean……..

WOW!!???????????????? What a fantastic show! Thanks “D” and Wes! What a lucky man “D” is to have had such a safe and long time to observe such a fine creature/person that the Sasquatch is. The only other person that I can think of that had such a long but safe observing time might have been The late Paul Freeman. “D”, I can’t thank you enough for telling about your wonderful encounter. You described it so well that I was able to picture the whole encounter as if I was there. So thanks again “D”!! Wes, you are the man when it comes to getting great interviewees and interviewing, thanks brother! Happy Holidays to you both and all the best for 2016! ???????? BTW, I know “D” accent well, beautiful area where he is from, another reason why he’s so lucky!! lol ????????

Anyone else thought that the swollen arm and it’s inability to use it (or refusal, possibly?), may have been due to envenomation?

I’m not sure what, if any species of pit-vipers (Rattlesnakes & Copperheads) are abundant in the area where this sighting took place, but having known several people over the years whom have been bit (I live in BFE Tennessee, so we have plenty of both here), the fashion in which the witness described it’s arm swollen in such fashion reminded me of those who’ve suffered Copperhead bites.

Hell, maybe he stuck his arm in the wrong hole, searching for a snack, and WHAM!

  15. Dave T

Great encounter Dave J. If I could choose how I had an encounter, it would be exactly like yours. I tell ya, your encounter was almost the perfect storm as far as an opportunity to take one for proof. I’m not saying you did the wrong thing or ridiculing you for it, I’m just saying you had everything in play to do it neat and clean. Glad your a full member now. See you in the forums.

Excellent show. I wish we could have shows around 2 hours with a couple accounts, however i am sure its mainly cause there is little out there as open to discuss rather than rhetoric and arguing. Thank you so much Wes for bringing us more and more to fill the cup.

I really don’t understand the mindset; we get a clear description of a man, a human like being, in other words an obvious observation of someone, not a creature, not a monster, not a thing, minding his own business just trying to get a feed, yet we get this inane suggestion that it would have been a good idea to have shot/killed him.

I can’t wait for the title “Doctor sees Sasquatch” as an episode. Which will never happen because Wes has an absolute hard-on for fellow hunters. God forbid intelligent people get to share their encounters on a show with a very clear bias towards rednecks. Like, literally every episode or every other episode at the very least. I’m done hearing the same talking points over again, we get it, you think one should be shot, and they’re not all mindless killing machines. Very stale show these days. There has to be normal people that don’t hunt calling into the show, but you don’t hold their any value in their opinion if they don’t own a firearm. Apparently you need to spend your entire life out in the woods to know the difference between a biped and a quadruped.

  19. L S

Great guy. Awesome encounter. I’m intrigued by the blonde hilights. I have trouble picturing it when witnesses describe that and it Almost makes me want to see one. Almost.

Vanessa G, please don’t soil the comments section with your race baiting. If the creature looked like an ugly black guy then that’s how it looked. If it looked like a ugly white dude I bet you wouldn’t have an issue. Sick people crazy times in a Clown World.
Then there’s Matt P (ness) Mr intellect, so in your world only Dr’s are intelligent? If you had half a working brain cell you’d figure out there aren’t as many reports coming in from city folks as they are not in the timber as much as hunters. Go put your pointy hat with a big D on it on and go sit in the corner. Oh I get it, you sent Wes a boring incident in and he chose a more interesting account from a hunter and your all upset, ahh okay got it.
