It Was On Two Legs Running

A listener writes “Two years leading up to this I would take a trip from Pennsylvania to Connecticut to visit my Aunt and Uncle for a week.

Every time I’d visit my Uncle and I would pick a day to go fishing at a nearby lake called Hall’s Pond. We always had awesome luck fishing, catching all sorts of large mouth bass and pickerels nothing out of the usual ever happened though. Well, the time I visited in 2012 something strange happened. We were fishing from my uncles boat all day at Hall’s Pond like we do every year, towards the end of the day around 7pm we were fishing one last shoreline before we called it quits. The entire length of the shoreline that we fished we kept hearing something in the woods walking parallel to us but it was out of sight. We just assumed it was a squirrel or a bird making noise in the leaves, we kept fishing and eventually came to a small cove like area in the lake and we continued to hear the noise of something walking on the shore in the woods, I looked up and behind a tree in front of our boat was something dark black but I couldn’t make out exactly what it was, I yelled out to my uncle “hey look that’s what’s making the noise” and I pointed towards it.

The second I pointed the black figure ran from behind the tree on two legs right along the shoreline in plain sight! It was on two legs running covered head to toe with black hair roughly 4 inches long. I never got a good look at it’s face but it’s arms and shoulder really stood out to me. It had long arms that reached below it’s knees and massive shoulder muscles, almost as round as a basketball. It ran so fast and so smooth it almost looked like it was just floating through the air that’s how smooth it ran, no head bobbing at all when it ran. It ran right Infront of us for about 5 solid seconds untill it dissappeared into the deeper forest. The second we couldn’t see it anymore we noticed that we couldn’t hear it making anymore noises in the woods no leaves or sticks breaking. My uncle and I both knew exactly what we saw. I asked my uncle to go the the shore for me to investigate a little but my uncle was genuinely scared and refused he insisted that we go back to the boat ramp and head home.

After we loaded the boat up and headed back to his place he said to me in the truck how he was so happy that I was there to witness that with him because my uncle would go night fishing out there and he said he had rocks thrown at him while he was on the lake and he would hear weird vocalizations out there at night. He believed that there really was a Sasquatch out there and the sighting in broad daylight that we shared together just put the icing on the cake for him that he wasn’t crazy!

We never saw anything else after that encounter but we will never forget that day. Ever since then we have both been hooked on learning more and more about these creatures and that interest brought us both to your podcast. Ever holiday that we are around each other we always bring up our experience with each other and kind of relive the moment and ask each other details that we each remembered.”

(New Jersey) Great Story!! I wish every member of SC – including myself- could have a safe, in broad daylight, encounter like this fellow and his uncle. Beautiful thing!!

It seems strange that these things can remain so allusive and yet sometimes it seems as though they make an effort to be seen by certain people. If there is one I assume that generally there are more. Something had been there for a while because the uncle had rocks thrown at him. Such a strange creature.

Hall’s pond is in the Northeastern part of CT, farmland and state forests and the 82 acre Hall’s pond sits between three state forests. Most of the CT activity takes place on the Northwest side closer to the NY border. I had to look on the map being from the other side of the state but looks like similar terrain.

Yes, western CT does get more reports filed but around here locals talk to their neighbors, and only if they get to trust you first.
Halls pond is about 15 minutes from my house, 5 minutes from my last one. Fished, kayaked, even swam there, many times, it does have a creepy vibe at times. Tons of game, and hiding spots. Its heavily forested from the CT river to rt 295 in RI, with a couple small highways and secondary roads but plenty of cover. In all reality, there’s plenty of habitat in most of eastern CT, farmland and forest, river bottoms and swamps, similar to other known habitats of these critters.

I’m really very glad to hear this. Sort of…..
I had a really super scary encounter when I was in boy Scouts probably around 1982 in southwestern CT. NOBODY believed us. Even though one of us was a 30 year old leader. They may be flesh and blood but they’re not from this planet or dimension or whatever. I have another story from Bethel CT from a 55 year old diesel mechanic who became emotional telling me about it. Happened in the 1960 ‘s. Nothing native to this planet needs to be as large and powerful as these things are. It’s very disproportionate to what they would need to be the apex predator on this planet. It’s not comforting to know these things are in my vicinity.
