Strange Events Around A Small Town

A listener writes “I lived in a small town called Twisp Washington and the first incident happened between 1980-1983. My father was the Chief of police and one night I was awoken by a car pulling into our driveway with the car horn blaring and the passengers were yelling and I think I remember the sound of the car sliding or screeching into the driveway.

Anyway, we didn’t lock our house doors at the time and they just ran into the house still screaming and yelling. My father and I went down stairs with weapons to see what the heck was happening. It was our neighbors (husband and wife) who lived a block or so away. They said they were parked at war creek (a campground up Twisp river) and a lion man tried to get in their car. That’s like a 20+ minute drive? The whole thing was quite weird, almost like the thing followed them all they way to our house.

I had the impression that the thing was like materializing in and out of their car…it was strange. I don’t recall my parents ever discussing it again. I heard, somehow, that the police went up there and didn’t find tracks etc. I know some other people that saw a lion man close to Twisp but they are still living and I don’t want anyone to be singled out. I also heard a yt story of a camper being attacked at the black pine lake campground. My mom (later in life) said she and my dad went for a drive up Twisp river, when I was in high school and a bigfoot crossed the road but they never told me at the time, plus my mom said she saw one when she was a kid.

Trying to get any information out of her was like pulling teeth. One weird thing that she did say once, is my dad went hunting up Twisp river and when he came back he had cancer and it was like his body had just been invaded. He was a smoker and I figured the non-Hodgkin’s lymphoma had caused that. I just found that comment weird. I also remember my mom mentioning there was a teacher that lived up Twisp river who moved cuz the UFO’s kept stopping close above his house. Also my mom had a story of some hunters that brought a bigfoot head to town and she thought it was going to be this huge story but nothing ever became of it.

I think she said that happened when she was a kid and I don’t recall her saying she actually saw the head. I’d have to say there’s something going on up in that area and an effort to keep people out (especially at night) is in force. I have never seen a BF (for certain) but I have always had a passion to see one and figure out what they are all about. I’ve heard the footsteps around the tent but until I actually see one or it’s footprints I will discount it. I did hear what sounded like chest beating but it could have been a grouse etc. I did have a weird incident near a campground called buck creek in Darington Wa.

I decided to follow the trails above the campground and was way out in the middle of nowhere and pitched a one man tent parallel with a huge fallen tree. I was camped above a fairly steep drop off and was close to a small creek too. I was very camouflaged as I put a green camo poncho over the tent. Anyway, just as it got dark, I was in the tent with my dog and I heard whistles. The whistles sounded like a whistle without the ball in it. I remember there were 5 or 6 of them and were somewhat evenly spaced and they whistled in a row. Meaning, one would blow and then the other, all the way down the line then they would start over. If I remember correctly I was in the middle of the row. To say the least, I was a bit scared and strangely enough my dog was wagging her tail and acted like she wanted to go outside the tent. The whistles all sounded a bit different. They sounded nothing like elk.

Just before daybreak they came back up the same way. Later on I researched what else could possible do that and I thought maybe ground hogs? My impression was, it was a hunting party, either driving deer down the hill of they were just whistling to keep their spacing etc. It could be something interesting or nothing at all. If my memory serves me correct there was a place not too far from there called sasquatch falls (there was a sign along the highway) where legend has it the BF hunted by driving deer over the cliffs.”

I don’t let these types of stories, or my own non conventional experiences keep me out of the woods. But I do change how I go about it to take these issues into consideration. I also don’t let it detract from my time in the wilderness. If something happens it happens. I’ll deal with it the best that I can. Having said that. I’m looking into buying a 1967 21 foot aluminum hull Starcraft Islander V with a 2.5 or 3.0 liter 4 cylinder Mercruiser I/O with a 120 to 140 hp rating, and a 30 hp Evinrude on the transom for backup. That has been sitting partially dissembled with a fresh rebuild on the main engine from 30 years ago in a garage. For use as an offshore power boat for ET/ED contact work in less than 1 person per square mile areas.

With a 52 gallon tank, it has about a 250 mile range. Banking up stackable 6 to 12 gallon poly fuel cells that can be strapped down can extend that out to a 500 to 1,000 mile range. Once you get into international waters 12 miles from the coast, as long as you stay out of foreign territorial waters, you can bring guns and reenter the US without reporting it. Though you should have a passport and all of the right paperwork and safety equipment if you get stopped.

I’m not going to stop my wilderness field trips. But I’m going to add remote river and offshore capabilities. The fours in that hull plane at 18 mph and comfortably cruise at 20 to 25 mph. Top speed is around 35 mph. The hull is rated for a stronger powerline. Using a later model 190 to 220 hp 4.3 liter V-6 drop in with fuel injection and electronic ignition. The top speed is over 50 mph. Which is pretty quick for deep water ocean travel. Though the fuel efficiency is less.

Cryptids aren’t limited to bigfoot, there’s a wide variety of them. I’m looking for what works. I stayed away from the forest that I’m currently working after my bigfoot vocalization close encounter 3 summers ago for a couple of years. Until I was able to deal with the contingent liabilities from a stronger position. Establishing working relationships with positive ETs/EDs is my goal to be able to get up on the ships and obtain one of my own. And the extended lifespan that goes with it if you play your cards right.

I’m open minded, I just don’t want to end up missing or get shot with a beam weapon again. I accept that cryptids can be part of the mix. I’ll deal with the encounters on a case by case basis. Experience is the best teacher.

The writer says “The whistles sounded like a whistle without the ball in it. “-

That’s a good way to describe it!
Also, many people describe Dogman as having a ‘mane’? VERY interesting.

Yes, Wes – please invite this person on your show! Also, I hope you will have another interview with Wyman. He is defintely at an off grid BF ground zero location.

Yes Louise that perked my interest too and like Denise said it having a mane made me think dogman also. Interesting stuff, I’d like to hear more of this person’s experiences and theories.

I have been to Twisp a few times. It is up in the foothills of the Cascade Mountain Range. Lots of National Parks land and wilderness areas around there. The Pacific Crest Trail is not too far from there either. There is plenty of land up there without many people. BF, Dogman, and other cryptids would have plenty of space to do their thing up there.
