Sean writes “Originally I wrote this a few years back when I first started listening to your show after my brother introduced it to me. Though I decided what I encountered at the time wasn’t big foot cause it didn’t really match my understanding of Bigfoot was, so I chalked it up to a weird encounter.

More recently I’ve come across episodes talking about Sasquatch throwing rocks and mimicking people speaking that made me reconsider. My strange encounter was brief but memorable, I was working on a campsite in a valley back behind my moms house, this is a suburb next to a protected forest but like the very tip of it.

I spent a week down there building a proper fire pit, occasionally I’d see the odd hiker come by and I’d wave hello or they would be on there way. Well this time I saw someone walk out the path I’d usually see the hikers come out and I noticed they were fairly tall, and wearing a fur coat and then a puff jacket around their waist. My first thought was “well someone doesn’t get out to the woods much” since they were wearing a black fur dress coat.

They stopped in the middle of the path waved at me and said “hello” Expect they sounded tone def when they said “hello”.

I stood up and waved and said hello, when I first stood up they slightly ducked as if I startled them which I thought was strange. They said hello again and continued to wave which at this point I was thinking they weren’t all there. They smiled and it honestly creeped me out. They had an extremely wide smile.

I watched them curiously as I kneeled back down to make it looked like I was working and grabbed my hammer. They then ducked behind a tree and kept popping there head out as if they were playing peakaboo with me. At this point I thought they were a druggy because of the behaviour. They walked behind some fallen trees and brush and it looked like they climbed up into a tree and continued this peekaboo game. I no longer saw them then later a rock hit the other side of the valley, my first thought was some kids threw it down from above I looked and saw nothing.

Then I saw another one and saw where it came from it was from this brush about 70-80 yards away. Where I saw the person walk off.

This second rock was about 10 feet short of me which freaked me out then I saw this person those the rock and this time it landed right next to me. I bolted and run up the valley through someone’s backyard straight home.

When I went back a week later with my partner at the time we checked out that area I saw the person and there was nothing to stand on I pointed out where there head would have been and it had be close to 8-9ft.

Using me as a reference I’m 6ft flat and I put my arms up and it still didn’t reach where I saw their head. I’m thinking maybe I did see a teenager Sasquatch and it was screwing with me. I’m not really looking to be on an episode I’ll leave that up to you but I’d like to hear what you think.”

Then we will wrap up with Myles from New Mexico. He had a encounter in New Mexico while camping with friends. A lot of strange things happened during this trip but the following night terrified the group and they left immediately when the sun came up.

Unexplained-Mysteries writes “An extremely strange story out of Argentina this week pertains to an alleged attack by a goblin-like creature. In what is surely a contender for bizarrest story of the year, a young farm worker – whose name has been withheld for privacy reasons – had reportedly been out on the fields somewhere in Argentina on August 31st when he was attacked by a mysterious assailant who “fell from above out of nowhere”.

The entity, which initially took humanoid form before apparently turning invisible, reportedly dragged him violently from his tractor for several meters, leaving him bruised and unconscious.

Later, when he came round, he told one of his fellow workers what had happened and showed off a number of nasty wounds that he claimed to have sustained during the attack.

It wasn’t long before the Argentinian media had picked up on the story, with news reports referring to the mystery creature as a ‘goblin’, ‘elf’ or ‘ucumar’ – a name for an ape-like creature of local legend.

The incident has also become associated with a piece of video footage that has been doing the rounds on social media which shows a small goblin-like creature running around next to a vehicle.

It remains unclear if the video is supposed to show the same creature that attacked the farm worker.

Whatever the case, the story seems to have gained quite a lot of attention in Argentina, with some people claiming that the whole thing is the real deal and others dismissing it as a hoax.

You can check out the footage of the alleged ‘goblin’ below.”

A listener writes “I live in southeast Missouri. I’ve hunted and been in the woods all my life. My family has a farm that I grew up cutting firewood and working cattle on.

In the late fall or early winter of last year, I was bow hunting on some public land. This land is 1500 acres and has new growth thickets all over giant hills. Really good deer territory. I found a little pond next to a trail in the thicket. I decided to sit on a log and just see what might come up or if there might be fish(no fish).

I was on the west side of the pond. To the south there was a slope(I wasn’t sure how steep at the time) and to the mother was the trail. Just before the slope, there were two tree roots that had fallen in a storm we had a while back.

I saw something just past one of these root wads. I didn’t know what it was. I had heard a twig break and saw something headed away and down out of sight behind the root wad. I couldn’t place what it was.

I thought maybe a turkey, because it had ruffles like feathers, but it was the color of a light colored raccoon or a deer in summer. I didn’t see a tail so I didn’t think it was a raccoon or a deer or anything. The other thing was that as it went away it was going left to right. Like a man walks or a turkey runs when you see it’s back.

This Sunday afternoon I took a friend to this spot. We were looking for a spot to possibly hunt and I showed him this spot. Walking up there, he stopped me and asked if I heard somebody talking. I couldn’t. The direction he heard the voices from were downhill toward more woods and away from any of the nearest houses.

When we got to the spot, I made him stand by the roots and they were waist high on him and he had told me they drop off a lot. I walked over to the slope and it was about 6 foot below the top of the wad. After telling him this story, he didn’t want to hunt this property and I can’t blame him.

I don’t know what I saw, but now I get creeped out when I go to this part of that property. I don’t think I’ll be hunting there this season.”

There is a great conspiracy that says This was not from wind, sand, rain, stone scavenging. Khafre pyramid at Giza was under sea for a very long time.

Karst undercutting erosion of the Tura limestone cap of the Khafre pyramid at Giza. The erosion turns up parabolically at both ends, characteristic of wave-action induced seawall erosion at 90 degree corners in harbors and ocean breaks.

The Khafre Pyramid shows signs of erosion that seem to have been caused by seawater. The limestone used in the pyramid’s casing (Tura limestone) is vulnerable to erosion when exposed to seawater, while the limestone used in the structure itself (Mokkatam limestone) is more durable.

The erosion patterns match what you’d expect if the pyramid were submerged in seawater with waves averaging about 6 to 8 feet high. The water level responsible for this erosion is thought to have reached a height of 576 feet above sea level.

This erosion is centered around a specific height on the pyramid, which suggests that it was caused by a large-scale flood or inundation, either global or regional.

Located roughly around three points of Anchorage and Juneau in the south, and Utqiagvik, a northern coastal city, it’s an area that has more unsolved missing person cases than anywhere else in the world.

In fact, since the early 1970s, more than 20,000 people have vanished within this vast triangle which is significantly high given how sparse in population the location is, IFL Science reported.

Statistically speaking, Alaska has twice the national average of disappearances with an average of 2,250 people vanishing each year. Notable figures who have disappeared in the triangle include two politicians, US House Majority Leader, Thomas Hale Boggs Sr and Alaska Congressman, Nick Begich.

On October 16, 1972, the pair were flying alongside Begich’s aide, Russell Brown, and the pilot, Don Jonz in an aircraft from Anchorage to Juneau when they went missing. Despite a big search being carried out to try and locate the four, ultimately neither the bodies nor the plane were ever found.

Of course, this sparked conspiracy theories as to what could’ve happened – particularly since Boggs was a Warren Commission member (the official body created to investigate John F. Kennedy’s assassination) and apparently did not agree with findings the group had made.

However, what happens to those who go missing in the Alaska Triangle doesn’t always remain a mystery.

Gary Frank Sotherden from New York was never seen again after the 25-year-old travelled to the remote area to hunt in the 1970s and two decades later in 1997, a human skull was discovered along the Porcupine River in northeastern Alaska and DNA was later recovered in 2022. It was concluded the skull belonged to Sotherden and believed he most probably died after being mauled by a bear. So what exactly is causing all these people to go missing in this particular area?

While things like this can be a playground for conspiracy theories, everything from magnetic activity to aliens, the reason for the rate of missing people is down to the remote wilderness of the area.

As the largest US state, only 1/20th of 1 per cent of Alaska is actually inhabited with 730,000 people living in an area that stretches 663,300 square miles.

Earth.com writes “Deep within the mysterious Genovesa Cave, a remarkable discovery is rewriting our understanding of early human settlement in the western Mediterranean. Encased in the heart of the idyllic island of Mallorca in Spain, an ancient submerged bridge discovered in the cave silently weaves a tale older than we could have ever imagined.

This discovery has not only provided startling new data about early human presence but also challenges established timelines, flipping our understanding of human history on its head.”

Cave bridge and human settlement

A new study led by the University of South Florida reveals that human migration in the western Mediterranean happened much earlier than previously believed, challenging long-held assumptions and narrowing the gap between the settlement timelines of islands across the Mediterranean.

This research, published in the journal Communications Earth & Environment , focuses on a 25-foot submerged bridge discovered in Genovesa Cave, located on the Spanish island of Mallorca .

Mallorca, despite being the sixth largest island in the Mediterranean, was long considered to be among the last to be colonized.

While earlier research suggested human activity as far back as 9,000 years ago, inconsistencies and poor preservation of radiocarbon-dated materials, such as bones and pottery, cast doubt on these findings.

Newer studies have used charcoal, ash, and bones found on the island to create a timeline of human settlement around 4,400 years ago.

This aligns the timeline of human habitation with significant environmental events, such as the extinction of the goat-antelope genus Myotragus balearicus .

Studying the Genovesa Cave bridge

The discovery of the submerged bridge in Genovesa Cave has provided compelling evidence that pushes the timeline of human activity back even further.

Led by USF geology Professor Bogdan Onac, an interdisciplinary team of researchers used this bridge to trace historical sea-level changes and date its construction.

“The presence of this submerged bridge and other artifacts indicates a sophisticated level of activity, implying that early settlers recognized the cave’s water resources and strategically built infrastructure to navigate it,” Onac explained.

The cave, situated near Mallorca’s coast, has passages now flooded due to rising sea levels .

The submerged bridge, along with distinct calcite encrustations formed during periods of high sea level, serves as an accurate marker for dating.

By analyzing the mineral overgrowths on the bridge and the elevation of a light-colored band, researchers concluded that the bridge was constructed nearly 6,000 years ago — more than two-thousand years older than previous estimations.

This finding compresses the timeline gap between eastern and western Mediterranean settlements.

Constructing history from constructs and calcite

Professor Onac emphasized the significance of this interdisciplinary approach in uncovering these historical truths.

“This research emphasizes the importance of interdisciplinary collaboration in uncovering historical truths and advancing our understanding of human history ,” he stated.

The findings not only enhance our knowledge of early human settlements but also highlight the role of scientific collaboration in reconstructing ancient timelines.

This groundbreaking revelation stands as a testament to the essence of scientific inquiry, showcasing how interdisciplinary research can redefine our understanding of the past.

As we continue to delve deeper into the annals of our shared history, discoveries like those in Genovesa Cave remind us that history is often more complex and interconnected than we once believed.

Early human settlements

As we delve further into the mysteries of early human settlements , the cultural implications of these discoveries cannot be overlooked.

The presence of advanced infrastructure, such as the submerged bridge, suggests that early settlers in the Mediterranean were not just surviving but thriving.

Their ability to construct and utilize such structures indicates a level of societal organization and technological proficiency that challenges our existing narratives about prehistoric communities.

Artifacts uncovered alongside the bridge, including tools and remnants of what appear to be communal gathering spaces, hint at a rich cultural tapestry woven by these early inhabitants.

These findings provide new insights into the social dynamics and daily lives of people who lived thousands of years ago, offering a glimpse into their interactions, trade practices, and possibly even their belief systems.

Cultural exchange

Researchers are now focusing on understanding the cultural exchange that may have occurred between these early settlers of Mallorca and neighboring regions.

The discovery of materials not native to the island suggests that there was some form of communication and trade with distant cultures, which could have influenced the development of their own customs and technologies.

This cultural exploration adds another layer to our understanding of human history , illustrating how early communities were interconnected and how their innovations laid the groundwork for future civilizations.

As more discoveries come to light, we continue to piece together the story of human ingenuity and resilience in the face of environmental and societal challenges.”

A listener writes “I wanted to share with you my encounter. Bartow county Georgia. On November 30th 2017 in findings that around my property on December 9th 2017. What happened to me on the 30th in November completely changed my life. It terrified me the no end and it has kept me from going Into the Woods to do my absolute favorite hobby, which is white tail deer hunting and Turkey honey. Little backstory on me. In 2003 I enlisted in the United States, Marine Corps, 0 3 11 rifle infantryman served 8 years in that role, with 3 combat deployments, 2 in Iraq, 1 in Afghanistan.

November 30th started out like any other day. I had off from my manufacturing job. I decided I wanted to go hike. Some old logging trails that I had hiked several times prior in the past of living on my property, the trails were approximately. Five hundred yards away from my front Door and you had to go down a ravine through a pine thicket to get to the start of the logging roads.

About a 1/2 mile into my hike, there was a little off trail that I decided to investigate that I hadn’t investigated before or prior to this date, I decided to go down there. Because I detected the smell of just something dead. I wanted to see what it was when I got down there. There was a shredded deer carcass that was hanging about 6 and a 1/2 to 7 foot up and a small pine tree over a couple branches, thinking that a hunter must have killed it. I started looking for A gut pile. I started looking for signs of a hunter. Didn’t see any and what was strange about the deer carcass was. The legs had clearly been snapped and there was no Head.

Upon closer examination of the body. I realized that this was a buck, surely a hunter must have shot the deer. Even though I couldn’t find any bullet wounds, I couldn’t find any arrowhead wounds that killed the deer skinned it out took the heads. I continued on my trip about another Couple 100 yd down the trail, I decided to set and get a drink of water, eat a protein bar just because well, it was still warm that time of year. It was a particularly warm fall. I remember sitting down and hearing some rustling behind me. I turned around and looked, not seeing anything. Thinking must have been a squirrel. going down the trails or roads? I started noticing odd things right, saw a small pine tree that had been snapped in half pine trees that were bent over and found what looked to be something like a make shift bed. something built out of basically Briar patches, and Other things that you normally wouldn’t see an animal make a bed out of at this point I’m starting to get a little uneasy feeling.i don’t know what gave me the uneasy feeling. I decide to turn around and head back home. On my journey back where I got to the entrance of the little clearing, where I found the deer carcass, I decided I wanted to go see it one last time, get some pictures of Things that I’ve been seeing upon coming out of the little clearing to get back home. You turn left to go home here. You take a right, continue down the trails well since I was heading home. I took an immediate left and I was in a hurry if you will.

It was at that point I heard the loudest scream. That was so deep that literally shook me down to my core. I frozen my tracks now that day I was carrying a Springfield Armory M1a M14 patterned rifle chambered in 7.62 X51 mm. NATO (308win) it’s a rifle that I’ve owned for many years that I’m comfortable with, and I’d carried a modern version of that rifle. In my time with marine corps serving as a designated rifleman, I turned around, and that’s when the most nightmarish thing I could have ever Imagined, we’re standing right in front of me at about 50 yd. The way it was standing was in a posture kind of bent over chest puffed out what I like to call an aggressive stance.
It stood about 7 foot tall shoulders were probably about 3 and a 1/2 feet.

I drew my weapon pointing my rifle at it took it off Safe. And started shouting warnings at it, basically screaming at it. If you take a step, I will kill you. I started to think. That this is or was some kind of joke. You better let me know right now. Because I will fucking kill you. Because at this point in time, I was still thinking, this has gotta be a man in a suit. This has got to be a joke. Someone trying to just scare people here. Because it was also the fall where people were dressing up as clowns, or what had you and trying to scare people when it didn’t respond, and it was just standing there I made the realization that this wasn’t a joke. This wasn’t a person that this was a living, breathing, flesh and blood creature.

But still not completely sure that it wasn’t someone just trying to screw with me. I fired one round the right side of its head. The round probably passed within 6 inches of its head. So at looking at it, it would have been my right, it’s left.

After firing that round, this thing took off at a speed that just was completely not natural. It’s like it was standing there 1 minute, and then poof gone Well thinking, well, now it’s my time to get the hell all out of here. I took off running back home upon getting home, ran inside, lock the door. Went upstairs, went to my master bathroom and just lock myself in there because at that point. I don’t know what it was, but some sort of just emotion hit me and I just couldn’t stop crying. My wife came up to check on me. Course, my stepdaughter was home so were my three children were there for Visitation and I knew I just had to snap out of it.

Telling my wife about what happened? She just started laughing, said that I just I had to see a bear Or it was someone messing with me. Of course, we talked with in bedroom with the door shut so that our four children would not hear cause the last thing I Didn’t want was any of my 4 children. Especially my 2 boys heading off Into the Woods and trying to find this thing. I did contact. I believe his name was david From the expedition Bigfoot museum located in Blue Ridge, Georgia David contacted me, came down the next day and I reluctantly went down the trails with him. I showed him where everything was and where the incident took place. When he started questioning me about the Creature, it was kind of like a memory block. Just came over me. There was certain things I could remember of the incident, certain things I couldn’t and I think he completely lost interest when he was showin me pictures, different body styles, I guess of what people have reported this thing to look like. And I flat out told him that None of these are, it cause everything he was showing me, looked like a gorilla, and that’s not what I saw, what I saw was. It looked like a 7 foot version of us except more hair cover, more primitive. Looking in the face the skull wasn’t pointed like you. Hear people report, it was rounded like ours. But the face was definitely more caveman, in the eye brows body was lean and very fit but not like Arnold or a body builder. More like a very trim but muscular athlete. like I would say, that’s just when he said he would be in contact and I never heard back from him again. Now As for December 9th, we had a massive snowstorm. Come through and after a few days of being, I’m stuck in the house because the property’s set up on a hill if it snowed or iced, you weren’t getting out. I decided to grab my rival and just go walk in the woods close to the house, but Far enough in the ravine, where there was an old ladderstand and possibly harvest a deer. Now, as soon as I got about ten yards in the woods directly in front of my home, there were massive sized tracks in the snow I put my foot up next to the tracks and of course I’m not a large man. I wear about a size 9 and a 1/2 boot. These tracks just swallowed my foot. I did follow them for a couple hundred yards, and they went down The ravine to the very bottom, where there were 2 overhanging rock formations for probably about 50 to 80 yd in length. Now, to me something in my brain told me, this is a trap. This is horrible idea if I was gonna set up an ambush, this is where I’d be. Now is that what it was probably not? I’m pretty sure this thing had no idea that I was going to go Into the Woods that day. So I decided, well, that’s enough. I am heading back home with no further incident now. For the next couple weeks after the storm, you would hear strange howls coming from the woods across the street. There was never any of my personal animals like my dogs come up missing. I think the neighbor said he had a dog come up missing. I had another neighbor have some cats and chickens. Come up missing and what really scared me. And what kind of made it where I no longer let my kids ride their bikes up-and-down the street? Was my oldest son who was 12. We’re 13 at the time was riding his bike and luckily he came back home when it happened. ’cause I guess it startled him? He said he heard my voice calling his name from the woods and he knew that I wasn’t in the woods. I who was at the house. Resting to go into word that night.

But that was The last what I would call incident on that property.

Now I did sell the home two years later, and I haven’t been back since.  I still am not comfortable at all about telling this story. I’ve never even spoken this to my father who I’m very close with. I have not shared this with any of my co. Workers or my closest friends? I never even told my mom about it and the reason is I don’t want to be labeled as some lunatic.”

A listener writes “I am a subscriber to Sasquatch Chronicles and am enthralled with the show. No sightings for me, unfortunately, however I daily scan our woods behind our home. I’m aware this is off topic, however, I couldn’t find a way to contact you for the After Dark show.

I’ve listened to different guests on your show and prior to this have always believed Sasquatch is real. My parents, myself and one of my sisters have witnessed UFO’s and a “haunted” house when growing up in West Virginia. This house affected every one of us profoundly and we still talk about it alot. My mother passed last year and she was always up for discussing what happened there.

I’ll try to summarize. This took place when I was 11-18 years old (ugh, I’m 56 now, don’t want to think about the math!) on the outskirts of Rainelle, West Virginia. My parents bought the farm which included a mountain top where I had the best and the worst memories of my life. The people that sold the house to us, joked around that the man’s father died in the house and that the ghost would visit them. It didn’t take too long before we moved in that activity began. My dad laughed it off, but never made fun of us when something happened.

I had my own room in the back of the house where 3 orbs of light would circle around in a tight pattern on the back of a dresser that abutted my bed. I was always terrified seeing them, but being raised to stand up for myself, I often got out of bed, searching where they came from. I’d hold my hand up and the lights didn’t fragment, as if there were just coming from the back of my dresser. Didn’t come from a window either, so I told my parents about them. After hearing me tell the same story, over and over, my mom stayed with me one night and she saw them too. Scared her pretty bad, so she went to get my dad. He didn’t see them and ran outside thinking we had a peeping tom. Of course there wasn’t anyone outside, but I always had a feeling that the lights weren’t human, but they were alive. I know, weird. My grandmother and her sister came for a visit and they stayed in my room, not believing me or my mother. They ran out screaming, relaying the same story I’d always told. This happened mostly in the fall and winter.

These next 2 events changed our family, and we eventually moved out. During a summer break from school, I was 16 and my mom, my sister and I were watching tv. Mom made us grilled cheese and tomato soup for lunch and we were eating in our living room that was covered in a godawful puke green former shag carpet. Real 70’s throwback. I was sitting on the floor when something caught my attention, rolling toward us. It was the lid from the can of tomato soup, rolling on it’s edges. I remember mom, my sister and I watched the lid roll past us and then fell over in front of our tv! We didn’t say a word, then mom started talking. She said she’d left that lid on the electric can opener. That lid had to have rolled off the counter, about 5 feet through our linoleum floored kitchen, then made a 90 degree turn onto the carpet, where it rolled another 15-17 feet before it stopped. We were spooked. My dad came home from work and laughed it off, thinking we were joking around.

The last major event happened about 6 months prior to moving out, changing my dad’s mind on every incident we’d told him. There were a lot of little things happening weekly, but nothing like the lights, tomato soup lid and his own encounter. My parents were in their bed, awakened around 1 am they said later when retelling. We had a Boston Terrier that liked to sleep with them, however on this night she wasn’t with them. They both woke up and looked at each other, when their blanket was being pulled at the foot of their bed. My dad said he did a soft kick and yelled out our dog’s name, thinking it was her moving their covers. He was shocked when the dog ran in there from me or my sisters’ room. He told mom, it was probably the dog leaving and they laid back down to try and sleep. The same thing happened again, this time our dog yelped and left their room. My dad was mad by now, got up, turned the lights on and looked under the bed, closet, checked the room and even took the blanket and sheets off the bed. When he was satisfied it was nothing, they remade bed and tried to sleep again. My dad, when recounting this to us, is still visibly shaken by what happens next. Just as they were dozing off, the blanket on the bed was being pulled again. Him and mom slowly sat up and was watching the blanket move. My dad tried holding the blanket and felt the strength of whatever was pulling. They both said while watching that it looked as if someone was slowly pulling it from them since it was gathered/bunched up at the bottom. My mom started praying and my dad yelled for it to leave them alone, since they couldn’t see anyone, just the blanket being pulled. It did stop, whatever it was, but spooked my dad enough that he put the house up for sale.

The house was sold six months later, and we’d often sleep in sleeping bags in our living room, huddled together until that time. We kept in contact with our neighbors and they told my parents that around 2 months after we left, the new homeowners wife came running out to their house and screamed, “They sold us a haunted house!” and cursed my dad for not telling them. We never told our neighbors what happened in this house. This really did happen to me and I think it affected me and my mom more.

We both had strange things happen, me more than her. I’ve been struck by lightning in front of my daughter on her orientation day at college. I’ve had lightning bolts strike my car, a fire ball tear up the ground where my grandfather saw it with me, a large UFO when I was 4 years old, and 3 years ago a giant light orb coming from my neighbors yard toward me on multiple occasions while walking my puppy during the night.

My mom and I often discussed if the house was haunted or if it was our family. Our family is devout Christians, mostly Baptists, and also believed that all of these events were real. My mom always told me, “Of course there are aliens and different beings. My God isn’t so small that He can’t create other planets. They probably have their own Bible too.” I miss her terribly.

Anyhow, I’ve been wanting to write for a while, especially hearing your guests talk about the lights. Didn’t have a reason, other than sharing my story. One day, I may write a book about my crazy life, but for now it feels good to let some of this out. If you want to contact me, I am willing to speak about it and possibly some other things that has happened to me.”

Modern Explorer writes “Hey Wes, Glenn Norberg here from Modern Explorer in Colorado. I recorded some curious sounds a few nights back. I was hammock camping in a heavily wooded ravine up by Marshall Pass, CO scouting for elk. On the hill above me (it sounded like it was about 1/2 mile off) I woke up to a ‘ululation’ call at about 10:30a at night.

A couple of years back, I had a curious happening – while archery hunting on this hill, I was grunted at, and had something thrown into the bush right next to me, but never saw anything.

As is my habit now, I placed recorders out. Two at camp, and one about 1/4 mile away from camp. They all caught the sound, but the distant recorder actually caught the sound better (perhaps because of ‘line of sight’)
This particular clip came from the end of CR-204 (D?) the North Western most dirt county road. I placed the recorder there in the trees, and caught this.

Due to the size of the file(s) I have only attached one clip:
An audio enhanced version (short)

I cannot describe it in any way better than a high pitched ‘ululation’ that drops off . It did not come in a repeating pattern – like a bird call and the Sonogram shows distinctly (albeit minor) differences in the sound (unlike a bird call) it lasted for about 3 1/2 minutes each time. I heard it twice. it sounded like a ‘call’. There were cattle grazing in the area that day, but the following morning they were off the mountain.

Have you ever heard a ‘ululation’ reported? If you can identify this sound, I would appreciate it and would love to write it off as ‘normal’.

If not, It intrigues me all the more.”

A listener writes “Since 2019 our life has changed!!! We bought property in North Georgia several years earlier. At the time I had hunted most of my life and never knew of Bigfoot possibly being in the southeast. I was 50/50 that some could exist but I thought it was only possible in northwest US, Canada, or Alaska.

I had noticed several things on the property that didn’t make sense. It had to have been done with hands and no people had been in the area. There also were no bears in this area so they were ruled out. In 2019 for Christmas our kids gave me a life size black plywood cut out of a Bigfoot. I placed it at woods edge off the back porch so I could see it. Two weeks later my wife went outside after watching a movie around 1 AM something came by the back porch (just far enough you couldn’t see it) and was whistling loudly. It whistled 4 times and our dogs in the outside pen were going crazy. One of the whistles was within 10 yards of the dog pen. My wife woke me up and had me come outside. I didn’t hear anything but she told me what happened.

It didn’t match any animal I knew of in all my years of hunting. Two weeks later at 4:47 AM something hit our brick house so hard the whole house shook. I checked the internet and no one reported anything that could have caused it. The next morning I went outside and found the grass was flattened and the dirt and dust was gone high up on the wall. I was able to rule out everything that I thought could have caused it, earthquake, tree falling, sonic boom, etc. The hit was at least 9 foot high on the wall. I used the internet and queried Bigfoot and the town closest to us. I did that not only because of what had happened but also because of what I had seen on the property. A BFRO report appeared and hid the location but I could tell it had to be close to where we lived due to details in the article. I called a person in north Georgia that knows a tremendous amount about Bigfoot.

I told him what had happened and he asked me a lot of questions. At the end he told me he knew what was going on. He said that Bigfoot has been watching you and wants to let you know they are there and wants to coexist with you in peace. A couple of Bigfoot investigators came by and found footprints, tree breaks, and proof that Bigfoot had been here for a long time. They also found out that the hit on the house wall was so hard it broke the bricks from the top of one of the bedroom windows all the way to the roof. So then we knew Bigfoot was here!!! Since that time we have built a trust with this Bigfoot clan and have amassed a tremendous amount of proof of there existence. We have had many interactions with them and would like to share the events with others. We have seen 3 more babies that I’m 90 to 95% sure of (unless we have an escaped monkey or chimp here). We have evidence of all types but below are just a few.

1. Crazy howls at night.
2. Several footprint pictures of various sizes.
3. X’s which mean stay out of this area.
4. Tree bends.
5. Bigfoot hide.
6. Peanut butter jar that a young Bigfoot stripped down to get peanut butter out from the bottom of the jar.
7. Peanut butter jar found in the woods that appears to have been stepped on by a baby Bigfoot.
8. A gift they left us on the railing of our back porch. This is how it looked after it was cleaned off. They have given us many extraordinary gifts.”

A listener writes “Dear sir attached 10 sec movie and couple pics of property. I have been seeing these for the last few months on my blink cameras. Usually traveling farther from the camera left or right . This occurred 2 nights ago. No Bigfoot issues yet this year, this is the time of the year something showed up last year. I put Cameras and motion lights outside on the wall it seemed to like.”

This is a strange light that was captured. It moves how the lights in the woods move. Take a look.

A listener writes “Hey, Wes. So, I had an odd experience in July of 2012. Having found your podcast it makes me wonder what it was, as it was completely out of the ordinary. I didn’t see the animal, but the behavioral characteristics has some interesting correlations with what others have described.

I grew up in Texas and spent lots of time outdoors. In my late teens, a friend and I would go camping and pursue packs of coyote at night for fun just to see how close we could get. Served in the military, mostly overseas, traveled solo around the US camping, hiking, biking and canoeing. Been around lots of sounds and wildlife in camps and remote areas. Have lived in Virginia for thirty years, now, and spent plenty of time in the woods of Appalachia hiking and hunting. Live on a hundred plus acres in a hollow surrounded by everything that makes this area so wonderful, day and night.

My event occurred above Fridley Gap trail on the Massanutten Mt range on July 22, 2012 at about 2pm on a clear sunny day. After it occurred I typed it up to remember the details, but have since lost the file while upgrading computers, but I recall it well and will jot it down again.

Fridley Gap heads up from the west side of the range in the national forest north east of Harrisonburg. It’s an easy hike along the lower creek and a cool, shaded place in the summer with pools of rolling water that folks like to visit. As I got to the upper end, a couple with young kids were playing in a pool having a good time. A little farther up a couple had set up a tent at the fork with another creek that flows from the east through the gap in the mountains.

Here, the trail forks, either continuing up the hollow or east following the other creek. A short way up to the east a different trail forks to the south and heads up the mountain rather than following the gap. This is the trail I took. It gets steep and zig zags its way up. I had my head down watching my steps until I got to a large boulder about the size of a van in one of these zigs when I heard three deep, loud grunts immediately followed by a heavy thrashing of brush from behind the boulder. The grunts were something of a rough grunt with a huah mixed in. My first thought was a bear, but after a few seconds of thrashing it went silent. No sound of anything running away, which is what bear
always do around here. Been around a lot of bear in the woods and have them on my property, but I have never heard this nature of a sound from a bear.

Couldn’t see anything and nothing ran away, so I wasn’t sure what was up. I had strained my knee hiking the day before and I was packing light. No weapons, axes or anything else, just some water and food. About thirty feet back down trail was a tree growing at an angle, so I climbed it to get elevated and look around. I got more caught up in the beautiful day than what I thought was just a bear and was up there for about fifteen minutes.

When I came down I eased wide around the boulder to find nothing and continued up the trail. Reaching the ridge line I wanted to take a break and walked over to a line of rocks that looked down the shallow valley on the other side. Lots of mature hardwoods, lots of dry leaves and I made lots of noise getting there. As soon as I stepped up on
those rocks, Wes, I felt more uncomfortable in the woods than I have ever felt. When I’m out, I poke around and observe everything for hours and take my time. I stood there thinking, this is a really weird feeling and makes no sense. Why in the world do I feel this way.

Tried to push it off, but after a couple of minutes it continued to have hold of me and I headed back to the trail crunching through the leaves. I decided to give it one more shot and head down in the next hollow. The trail hear was clear of leaves so the soft, damp duff was exposed. There was a brush screen on my right for a hundred feet or so and I went from making lots of noise in the dry leaves to no noise. When I walked out of the brush screen, to my right, which was below where I was standing on the rocks, there was an explosion of movement.

I was amazed by the speed. There was under story brush and boulders and I did not see a thing, which still seems strange to me. There were no foot steps, it was just one continuous crashing movement like dragging a tire through the leaves at a really fast speed. Sounded nothing like how a bear runs. A creek with a thicket of growth was about two hundred feet down the slope and this thing came to a dead stop, and silent, when it hit that thicket. My thoughts were, this is way too odd and the trail goes through that thicket. Three odd things like that in forty five minutes is enough to call it a day, so I headed back down the
mountain.

It was such an odd experience. Still reflect on it sometimes since I’m out in the woods so much. I’ve had a couple other anomalous sound events in the past on that mountain range, but this was much more peculiar and lasted longer.”

On September 27th Tony and I will return for a new “After Dark” episode. We are still working on the title but I think you guys and gals are going to really like this episode. I will post more information next week.

If you want to join the After Dark show, I will post it under the episodes a week before along with links to come on live with us. Hope to see you there.

As the ice thaws, there is the potential for long-dormant viruses from the distant past to be released back into the world.
In the plot of classic science fiction movie The Thing, a team of researchers inadvertently unleashes a hostile alien entity that had been frozen in the Antarctic ice for millions of years.

While this hasn’t happened in the real world (yet), it is not unheard of to find frozen organisms in ice that have not only thawed out, but that also have the potential to actively infect things.

This was the case recently when scientists conducting a study of a glacier in Tibet discovered a whopping 17,000 viruses in an ice core sample dating back 41,000 years.

This amount of viral information is 50 times greater than anything found in a glacier before.

Those concerned about these viruses triggering some sort of pandemic, however, needn’t be as none of these 17,000 are capable of infecting humans – they can only affect single-celled organisms.

Even so, it does open the possibility of something that could infect humans being thawed out in the future, potentially unleashing some ancient virus on today’s population.

On the plus side, such discoveries are helping scientists understand more about our planet’s history.

“Among these glacier archives are viruses that potentially played key ecological roles in the past before freezing,” the study authors wrote.

According to co-author Matthew Sullivan, they dictated evolution and diversity “from the bottom up”.

“These kinds of data are just so foundational for asking any questions about what Earth looked like previously,” he said.

“Collecting these 1,700 genomes now empowers scientists doing glacial work elsewhere to unlock the stories that are in these other ice freezers, so to speak.”
