The “Kangaroo Man”

This past weekend (26 March), my son and I went camping on some family land that is located just south of Georgetown County. This property is in an area that is steeped in local history (Revolutionary war, Civil war, reconstruction) and is renowned for its duck, turkey and deer hunting. We have been working the property for the past 2 years: logging, road/trail building, planting food plots and building duck blinds in an effort to get it ready for hunting and wildlife management. It is an amazing piece of land and we are blessed to have it.

Turkey Season opened this week in my area of South Carolina – so we FINALLY decided to camp out and have our 1st ever Turkey Hunt on the property (which is LOADED with Turkeys). This weekend, we made it happen.

We set up our campsite and enjoyed an amazing lowcountry spring evening and night; Temps in the low sixties, crystal clear night sky, crescent moon and great story telling of past adventures with my brother, his long time friend, me and my 12 year old son. It was amazing; great food, great conversation, lots of laughs and some solid life’s lessons conveyed to my 12 year son old from his uncle(s) and his dad around the picnic table and the campfire.

At about 11PM we called it a night, as we were to be up at 5:30 AM to rig-up and head to our respective Turkey blinds. Given the cool evening air and a massive camp meal – I was out like a light and slept solidly through the night.

I was awaked by my son at 4:30 AM who told me that he saw a “Kangaroo Man” while he went outside the tent to relieve himself of the 8 Yoohoo Chocolate Sodas he consumed around the campfire. He noted that the “thing” stood about 40 feet away from him, was about 5 1/2 feet tall and was standing just in front of the wood line. He described it as very muscular (like a kangaroo), a bit “hunched over” and standing on two legs. He also said it was “covered in white hair.” The one detail that caught my attention is that he noted that it had “very long arms – the hands went down to its knees.” This is a detail that I know well from listening to your show – but he has never heard your show and does not know this detail.

He noted that he was frozen in fear when he saw it. The creature looked at him and then began to walk off – paralleling the wood-line. My son stated that it walked upright about 15 yards and then it “just disappeared…” as it came to a large tree. He claims it literally just vanished “Poof…it vanished”……He told this exact account again this morning to my wife at breakfast.

I do not know what to make of this. My son is not one to make up stories. He is a very self confident, well adjusted and popular young man He is a solid multi-sport athlete and a very good student. I am inclined to believe that he saw something – what is was – I have no idea.”

Wow!!! Sorry that He was Scared, BUT I’m glad Someone Like him Saw 1, Just Because Of His Credibility & Hobbies It takes Some of the STEREOTYPES Regarding US Witnesses… Everything happens for a reason. Also It confirms To ME that My son Did INDEED see What he says He saw In the woods With me 1day. I have been Doubting it HERE & THERE but Similar Details & His reaction As Well .. Perhaps He’ll become a Researcher Now As well.. The More the merrier!

Seeing as your son called it “Kangaroo Man”, I wonder if he saw what is known as “Dogman” – to a kid, an upright walking canine with long upright pointed ears may resemble a kangaroo.

Sounds like an intriguing account. Would love to hear more details from them. Especially if the confident upstanding young man would like to share from his possibly untainted perspective. I can’t imagine how this young guy could be feeling about what he saw and how he’s dealing with it. I sure hope SC’s and Wes has the opportunity to show them both some love, support, and respect for coming this far.

Your son seems very trustworthy, and I wouldn’t doubt him for a second. Him being frozen in fear and not really knowing about these awful things that roam the woods, says one thing, you need to be very careful and carry one big gun not just for turkeys. Thanks

Glad this young man in his short life has accolades piled up, along with a dad and uncles who can attest to his honesty which allow his dad the opportunity to come forward and share his son’s experience. It’s the things that happen absolutely out of the blue that leave their mark on our minds and make us wonder just what this world is up to.
