The face was haunting

A listener writes “I live outside St. Louis. I’ve been interested in the subject since I saw Patty in the mid 70’s on TV. As a kid I went to every movie and watched every documentary on the subject(and there were ALOT more than the 1 or 2 most people mention).

As I got older normal teenage pursuits made me lose interest in that kind of stuff which I thought was strictly a Wa. Or. Ca. Canada thing only. I had no clue they were everywhere. In 93 I took a trip to the Pacific Northwest. Before we went I wanted to see the Bigfoot museum in The Dalles, OR. I called information and talked to the municipal building in that town. The lady that answered said it closed but gave me a number.

I called it and a British guy answered. It was Peter Byrne. The voice was familiar. He had been on half the documentaries I had seen. I talked to him for 15-20 minutes. He was super accommodating. He said the Museum had closed but offered to take me around to witnesses and show me casts. When we went on the trip we never went any further south than Mt. St. Helens so I never got to meet him.

Anyway, On vacation in Gulf Shores Al. In late August 95 my ex and I were driving to the Beach House we were staying at around 2:30am and I saw one. It looked so different than Patty that for years I wasn’t sure what the hell I saw. It looked like a 6 foot 5 Lemur kind of. After I heard a couple other people on Not Finding Bigfoot describe them the same way I realized it was one of the Southern Skunk Ape types I guess.

It wasn’t huge, it was the exact color of a possum. It was looking at my car from partly behind a tree in the middle swampy area of the peninsula. I got a real good look as the tree was at a sharp curve, I had to slow down to about 15mph to navigate. It was maybe 8 feet from the car. The face was haunting. It was so strange looking. If you want to talk to me about it I’ll describe it better verbally. My ex was asleep in the passenger seat so I have nobody to verify. I have only told a few people about it. The right arm and most of the torso that I saw clearly looked like hell. It looked like when my indoor dogs used to escape from my yard and come back from the woods 8 hours later. It was extremely dirty and had missing patches of fur that were scabbed. Either injuries or mange.”
