That’s Where The Neanderthal Man Roams

A listener writes “Big fan of your show I already know these amazing creatures exits
all of the encounters I have had took place in Allegheny County, NY. My cabin that has been in my family for 4 generations borders the Klipknocky Forest.

My first encounter happened in 1977, my family was remodeling our cabin and the children were staying at the cabin across the road, me being 8 years old at the time was the oldest of the children, the cabin had 4 steps to get up to the level of the cabin with the bedroom windows being at the top of the ceiling that were 8 foot from the ground outside to the bottom of the windows that were 4′ wide by 2 high mostly for ventilation and some natural light during the day. The remodel was going to be for a long weekend from Thursday to Tuesday some time in august, on Friday night the adults stayed up late in the cabin being remodeled to have a few beers and then some while contemplating progress, @ approximately 1 am I woke up and felt every hair on my head and back of neck stand straight up looking up to the windows that are 8′ off the ground I saw 2 red eyes looking into the bedroom, I freaked out ran to the front porch and started screaming for my mother and father, with them hearing my terrified screams for help they came quickly, investigated and told my that it was only my imagination, I tried to believe that until next summer.

Next summer same location, ahh a long weekend with fishing target shooting and scouting for deer signs at our fixed up cabin, no more holes in the floor or roof, Saturday morning woke up just before dawn to go to the out house natures call, on my way back in I heard what sounded like someone clacking rocks together 2 times so me being 9 years old picked up a couple of rocks and clacked once, reply 3 clacks this went on for about 10 mins or so until I felt that horrible feeling of being watched again hairs straight up on back and neck then a large tree across the road from the clacking sound began to shake violently, good thing I had just went #2 or else it would of ended up in my pants the tree was less than 30 yards away, freaked out again ran back to cabin and told dad, my over active imagination again.

7 years later 16 years old hunting with a 12 gauge shotgun on our cabins hill, scouted a nice spot with a lot of deer sign, tucked myself into a dead fall and waited for a deer, heard a man coming my way definitely something on 2 feet been in the woods with my family since I was 4 learned how squirrels make a racket deer moving through the woods this was definitely someone or something walking as it got closer here goes the hair on back and on neck, so I stood up from dead fall and said in a normal voice ( hello I am hunting over here) everything from the birds to the bugs went silent not normal for this area, feeling as being watched overcame me, I put a slug in the ground BANG, then I heard fast foot steps leaving the area, my hair and feeling of being watched went away.

5 years after that Bully Hill State Forrest, a short drive from my family’s cabin, my Father, Uncle and myself decide during hunting to try some place else, the deer weren’t moving a lot on our hill, so we decided to try (exact location removed). Plan drop my Uncle off at lower hill, me off at middle of hill and my Father would go to the upper hill. Just go in and look for sign both my Uncle and Father were going to work in a zig zag trying to push a deer to me, I am a pretty good shot and always sure of my target and what could be behind it. My Uncle would always ware camouflage with the state minimum of blaze orange on a vest and would put it in his pocket when not on the move. 2 hours into the hunt I see my uncle coming across a wooded area, no vest on he is a big man 6’5″, so I proceeded to sign him via whistle 1 quick blast, well it was not my Uncle the thing stopped dead in its tracks, it was difficult to see where it stopped, here goes that feeling again being watched hairs on end, as I was trying to locate the thing again a rock struck a tree next to me from a different direction distracting me when I went to look back I SAW A LARGE DARK COLORED FIGURE MOVE AT SPEEDS THROUGH ROUGH TERRAIN THAT I COULD NOT BELIEVE. Enough for me went down to where I first seen it no way it was 6’5″ a tree branch was 8′ where I seen its eye level. Got out quick to truck only to find my Dad he to seen something, a clearing with what seemed like a bed down area for something large with a lot of animal bones deer, cattle, bear and some unknowns in one corner, he to felt uneasy, my Uncle saw of found nothing unusual. Found out later at a bar that the locals do not go there, claiming that’s where the Neanderthal man roams. I haven’t been back to that hill since.”

Wow freaky for sure. You know when your hunting with a gun almost nothing scares you except a bear. Now I too know something not normal is? out there. Never go in the timber unarmed.
