A listener writes “My experience dates back to September 1997 in the Temagami area of Northern Ontario. My brother and I were on a 10 day canoeing trip to get away from the city, we’re both avid outdoorsman, and I’m a hunter and have clocked many hours in the woods.

The sighting of this “being” happened maybe a day or two earlier along gentle sloping rock along Lady Evelyn lake.

To be honest I wasn’t much of a believer of Bigfoot or Sasquatch or whatever they are at the time, so when I spotted this big black thing drinking from the lake, I said to my brother “look at that black bear along the shoreline,…. it turned on all four legs and walked up the sloped rock for a few steps, then it stood upright and walked like a man on two feet, we both said that ain’t no bear !!

We got a broadside view of this guy, I made a comment (as a hunter) that guy has to out of his mind dressed all in Black up here (head to toe) not sure if there was bear hunting in this wilderness park or not, but none the less we were paddling by in tee shirts and shorts and it was definitely weird seeing someone dressed in a ski mask black coat and black paints while it’s 70 plus degrees out !!!!????

At that point we paddled on and dismissing it as some dude dressed all in black pretending to be a bear but it was something I do remember in the back of my mind much like a photograph. why I haven’t forgot about that unusual guy dressed all in black that day I’m not sure… it was something that stuck out like a sore thumb I guess,

The main destination and plan was to paddle to place called maple mountain, hike up and camp overnight on its peak.

That’s when we heard it roar from a distance, I figured it had to have been 200 -300 yards to the west it’s put goose bumps and and the hair up the back of our necks!!!!

The screaming went on for about 20 minutes or so , this was late into the evening if not the next early hours of the third , we remember this because we were getting news from a little transistor radio about the Swissair plane crash as we sat around the fire.

There was also a spectacular display of the northern lights that night And something screaming out in the woods!!

Didn’t say too much about this event to anyone, except for a few fellow hunters, sort of putting it out there hoping someone would share something back to offer an explanation of what we heard or seen during that trip.”
