“Tennessee bigfoot a disagreeable fellow ”
By E. Randall Floyd Special Columnist

There’s a bigfoot attacking cars and trying to snatch little children in the Tennessee foothills.

Exactly what the Flintville monster is or where it came from remains a mystery, but more than two decades of sightings and terrifying encounters have left many people convinced that the creature is not only real but dangerous as well.}More than two decades of sightings and terrifying encounters with a massive, hairy monster have left the folks of Flintville, Tenn., about 70 miles west of Chattanooga, convinced that the creature is not only real, but dangerous.

“That thing’s so big it could easily hurt somebody,” complained Ned Sinclair, a farmer. “Who knows how many head of our livestock have gone missing because of it?”

So far no one has been hurt by the Flintville monster, which often leaves behind 16-inch footprints and a foul, skunk-like odor. But there are those who claim to have had close calls.

One man said a “7-foot-tall hairy monster” chased him through the woods, howling and screeching at him like an ape. A woman said she hid on the floorboard when a similar creature attacked her car.

On at least one occasion, a child was nearly kidnapped by a thing with long, hairy arms.

The trouble began in 1976 when a woman told police that a “giant, hairy monster” broke her automobile antenna and then jumped onto the roof of her car and began bouncing up and down. When the woman’s story made news, other citizens stepped forth to describe similar encounters.

Several attacks were reported in the early 1980s, including one by a plumber who said his truck’s windshield was smashed by the monster and another by a housewife who said a “black, hairy creature” chased her inside her house and beat on the door.

In 1989 a church pastor complained that “something” had destroyed the windshield and antenna on his car. That same week a group of teens reported a “large, manlike ape” loping across a field at the edge of town.

Of all the stories, however, none can match the nearly tragic drama related by Jennie Robertson.

On April 26, 1976, Mrs. Robertson’s 4-year-old son, Gary, was playing in the yard when his mother heard him scream. When she ran outside to investigate, she became conscious of a foul odor that reminded her of a skunk or “dead rats.”

Then she saw a huge, apelike figure bounding across the yard toward the house.

“It was 7 or 8 feet tall,” she told investigators, “and seemed to be all covered with hair. It reached out its long, hairy arms toward Gary and came within a few inches of him.”

Seconds before the shaggy beast could grab the child, his terrified mother snatched him up, darted inside the house and locked the doors. When she got up enough courage to look out the window, she saw a “big, black shape disappearing into the woods.”

Minutes after she reported the incident to police, swarms of lawmen and hunters descended on her property, armed with shotguns and rifles. They resolved to track down and kill the creature.

Throughout the night, they combed the woods on the outskirts of town. They never found anything, but on at least two occasions the creature screamed at them and pelted them with rocks.

The next day the hunters found more 16-inch footprints, as well as hair, blood and mucus. The hair was scientifically analyzed but could not be identified.

No sightings have been reported since 1993. Does that mean the creature has gone away?

“I doubt it,” said Mrs. Robertson. “It’s probably just gone into hiding for a while.”

Throughout the South, from Arkansas to Virginia, reports of monsters resembling bigfoot continue to reach the desks of law enforcement officers and park rangers. Most sightings can be dismissed as hoaxes or illusions triggered by poor visibility or unsteady imaginations.

But a few – like the Flintville monster – cannot be explained away.

YEAR: 1976

SEASON: Summer

DATE: Summer, 1976, late afternoon.

STATE: Michigan

COUNTY: Livingston County

LOCATION DETAILS: In Livingston County, MI, near Brighton, approx. 1 mile SE of Briggs Lake. N42 30.12′, W83 42.73′ , where the C&O Railroad crosses over the Huron River.

NEAREST TOWN: Brighton

OBSERVED: I was 8 years old, and very much a nature buff (when I was 10, I was helping grad students at the University of Michigan identify rare birds.) I was walking east along the RR tracks with my friend, who was 9. We were picking up rocks and talking, and as we were getting closer to the RR bridge that crosses the Huron River (a fast stream at that point) we noticed an odor that smelled like old roadkill mixed with cabbage(?); in retrospect, rather hard to identify but very strong and very distinct. We were expecting to come across a deer or some other animal that had been killed by a train. While crossing the bridge (about 80′-100′ long) my friend grabbed my arm and jerked it as if to show me something really quick. I looked over, and he was pointing down over the south side of the bridge. I took a few steps to look down, and about 20′ below us was the biggest pair of hairy shoulders I had ever seen. The creature looked like an ape, but its shoulders were MASSIVE ! – as if it was wearing football pads under its skin. Because of this, its head looked almost small. It had dark brown fur which covered every part of the creature, though we never saw its face. It was crouching by the east bank of the river, looking down into the water. It didn’t appear to be moving much, and I don’t remember splashing or ripples from where the creature was squatting. We didn’t stay long– I’d say we looked at it for 5-7 seconds before my friend started running east, and followed him. His home was about a mile down the tracks, and when we got there, he ran up into his room and locked the door. I had to call my father to pick me up (I lived on the east shore of Briggs Lake.) For some reason, this event ended our friendship. Although it frightened me a bit, I spent a lot of time in the school library trying to figure out what kind of creature that looks like a big-shouldered ape lives in the Midwest. This is when I first learned of the Bigfoot phenomenon.

ALSO NOTICED: I lived in the area for three years, and spent a LOT of time in these wooded areas, but this is the only experience I had at the time.

ENVIRONMENT: Mixed forest (not too thick) among small, rolling hills. There is a quarry about .5 miles east of the bridge, and Island Lake Recreation Area about 1.5 miles west. The nearest home to the bridge was about .7 miles west.

ancient-hominids-reconstruction-1

Several years ago, a team of scientists from the Senckenberg Research Institute in Frankfurt, Germany, set out to put a human face to ancient hominid species that once walked the Earth. Using sophisticated forensic methods, they created 27 model heads based on bone fragments, teeth and skulls found across the globe over the last century. The meticulously sculpted heads are the anthropological products of years of excavation in Africa, Asia, and Europe.

In the last 8 million years, at least a dozen human-like species have lived on Earth. As part of the Safari zum Urmenschen exhibition (“Safari of Early Humans”), the facial reconstructions take us on a journey through time, going back seven million years to the species sahelanthropus tchadensis, and culminating with modern-day Homo sapiens. Each face tells its own story about the lives of hominids in their respective era, including where they lived, what they ate, and their likely cause of death.

The exhibition drew much controversy when it was first launched, mainly due to scholarly debates that have raged for decades regarding the classification of these ancient species. Fossils are extremely challenging to categorize as one species or another. Only a few thousand fossils of pre-human species have ever been discovered and entire sub-species are sometimes known only from a single jaw or fragmentary skull. Furthermore, like modern-day humans, no two hominids were alike and it is difficult to determine whether variations in skull features represent distinct species or variations within the same species. For example, the recent discovery of a skull in Dmansi in Turkey suggested that a number of contemporary species of early “Homo” – Homo habilis, Homo rudolfensis, Homo ergaster, and Homo erectus – are actually just variations of one species.

Bones can only say so much, and experts are forced to make educated guesses to fill in the gaps in an ancient hominid family tree that extends back 8 million years. With each new discovery, paleoanthropologists have to rewrite the origins of mankind’s ancestors, adding on new branches and tracking when species split, and rather than providing answers regarding our ancient past, many discoveries simply lead to more questions.

1234
‘Toumai’ – Sahelanthropus tchadensis

Toumai (“hope of life”) is the name given to the remains of a hominid found over a decade ago in the Djurab desert in Chad, Western Africa, belonging to the species known as Sahelanthropus tchadensis. Dating back 6.8 million years, it is one of the oldest hominid specimens ever found. Sahelanthropus tchadensis had a relatively small cranium. The braincase, being only 320 cm³ to 380 cm³ in volume, is similar to that of existing chimpanzees and is notably less than the average human volume of 1350 cm³.

123
Australopithecus afarensis

Australopithecus afarensis, is believed to have lived between 3.9 and 2.9 million years ago and had a brain capacity between 380 and 430 cc. A number of remains of this species have been found in Ethiopia, including the individual modelled above, whose skull and jaw were found among the remains of seventeen others (nine adults, three adolescents and five children) in the Afar Region of Ethiopia in 1975. The most well-known example of an Australopithecus afarensis is “Lucy”, a 3.2 million-year-old nearly complete skeleton found in Hader.

12345
“Mrs Ples” – Australopithecus africanus
“Mrs Ples” is the popular nickname for the most complete skull of an Australopithecus africanus, unearthed in Sterkfontein, South Africa in 1947. Although the sex of the fossil is not entirely certain, ‘she’ was a middle-aged individual who lived 2.5 million years ago and had a brain capacity of 485 cc. Mrs Ples died when she fell into a chalk pit and her remains were preserved when the pit later filled with sediment. The Australopithecus africanus species, which lived in southern African between 3 and 2 million years ago, has long puzzled scientists because of its massive jaws and teeth, but they now believe the skull design was optimal for cracking nuts and seeds.
012
“Black Skull” – Paranthropus aethiopicus
Paranthropus aethiopicus is a species of hominid that is believed to have lived between 2.7 and 2.5 million years ago. Very little is known about them because so few remains have been found.  The individual depicted has been reconstructed from the skull of a male adult found on the west shore of Lake Turkana in Kenya in 1985. He became known as “Black Skull’ due to the dark colouration of the bone caused by high levels of manganese. Black Skull had a cranial capacity of 410 cc, and the shape of his mouth indicates that he had a strong bite and could chew plants.
0123
“Zinj” – Paranthropus boisei
“Zinj” is the name given to a 1.8 million-year-old skull of the Paranthropus boisei species found in 1959 in the Olduvai Gorge of Tanzania.  Named after the original classification of the species, Zinjanthropus boisei, Zinj was the first one to be found belonging to this group of hominids.  Paranthropus boisei lived in Eastern Africa from about 2.3 to 1.2 million years ago. They had a brain volume of about 500 to 550cc and they would have eaten seeds, plants and roots which were dug up using sticks of bones. Due to the strong jaw that would have also been used for cracking nuts, Zinj is also known as the ‘Nutcracker Man’.
000
Homo rudolfensis
This model is of an adult male of the species Homo rudolfensis, reconstructed from 1.8-million-year-old bone fragments found in Koobi Fora, Kenya, in 1972. He used stone tools and ate meat and plants. Homo rudolfensis lived from 1.9 to 1.7 million years ago and had a larger cranial capacity than his contemporaries, ranging from 530 to 750cc.  They had distinctive features including a flatter, broader face and broader post-canine teeth, with more complex crowns and roots.
00001
“Turkana Boy” – Homo ergaster
Finding ‘Turkana Boy’ was one of the most spectacular discoveries in palaeoanthropology.  His reconstruction came from the almost perfectly preserved skeleton found in 1984 at Nariokotome near Lake Turkana in Kenya. It is the most complete early human skeleton ever found.  Turkana Boy is believed to have been somewhere between 7 and 15 years of age and lived 1.6 million years ago. According to research, the boy died beside a shallow river delta, where he was covered by alluvial sediments. Homo ergaster lived between 1.8 and 1.3 million years ago and had a cranial capacity of 700 to 900 cc. Remains have been found in Tanzania, Ethiopia, Kenya, and South Africa.
0101
“Miquelon” – Homo heidelbergensis
‘Miguelon’ is the name given to the remains of an adult male belonging to the Homo heidelbergensis group, discovered in Sima de los Huesos (“the pit of bones”), Spain, in 1993. More than 5,500 human fossils of this species, which are considered to be the direct ancestor of Neanderthals, have been found in the Sima de los Huesos site. Miguelon, which is the nickname of “Atapuerca 5”, is the most complete skull of a Homo heidelbergensis ever found. Miguelon is a thirty-year-old male who died around 400,000 years ago. His skull showed evidence of 13 separate impacts and he died of septicaemia resulting from broken teeth – a tooth had been broken in half by a strong blow, so that the flesh had been exposed and led to an infectious process that continued until nearly the orbital bone. The model, shown here, does not include the deformity. Homo heidelbergensis lived between 1.3 million and 200,000 years ago. Their cranial volume of 1100 to 1400 cc overlaps the 1350 cc average of modern humans. Fossils of this species have been found in Spain, Italy, France and Greece.
0000001

“The Old Man of La Chapelle”

– Homo neanderthalensis

The “Old Man of La Chapelle” was recreated from the skull and jaw of a Homo neanderthalensis male found buried in the limestone bedrock of a small cave near La Chapelle-aux-Saints, in France in 1908. He lived 56,000 years ago and was the first relatively complete skeleton of a Neanderthal ever found. Scientists estimate he was relatively old by the time he died, as bone had re-grown along the gums where he had lost several teeth, perhaps decades before. He lacked so many teeth in fact that it’s possible he needed his food ground down before he was able to eat it. The old man’s skeleton indicates that he also suffered from a number of afflictions, including arthritis, and had numerous broken bones.

Neanderthals are generally classified by palaeontologists as the species Homo neanderthalensis, but some consider them to be a subspecies of Homo sapiens (Homo sapiens neanderthalensis). The first humans with proto-Neanderthal traits are believed to have existed in Europe as early as 600,000–350,000 years ago, and they died out around 30,000 years ago. The Neanderthal’s cranial capacity was notably larger than the 1350 cc average for modern humans. However, they also had a larger body size. Recent research now points to the fact that they had the same or similar levels of intelligence as modern humans.

0000002
“The Hobbit” – Homo floresiensis
“The hobbit” is the name given to the female remains of hominid species known as Homo floresiensis, found in Liang Bua, Flores, Indonesia, in 2003. Name after her small stature, she was about 1 meter tall (about 3’3″) and lived about 18,000 years ago. Partial skeletons of nine other individuals have now been recovered, and these have been the subject of intense research to determine whether they represent a species distinct from modern humans – it is now believed they do. This hominid is remarkable for its small body and brain (420 cc) and for its survival until relatively recent times (possibly as recently as 12,000 years ago)
00000003
Homo sapiens
Homo sapiens (Latin: “wise man”) is the scientific name for the human species.  Anatomically modern humans first appear in the fossil record in Africa about 195,000 years ago. The model depicted above was reconstructed from skull and mandible fragments found in a cave in Israel in 1969.  This young female Homo sapien lived between 100,000 and 90,000 years ago. Her bones indicate she was about 20 years old. Her shattered skull was found among the remains of 20 others in a shallow grave.

I want to share with everyone a sighting of a Bigfoot that a friend of mine had.

The man who saw the Bigfoot is a trucker and he makes runs between Anchorage and Fairbanks. We’ll call him “Tim.”

Anyway, my wife and I babysit his two girls while he makes his trips. One night while I was in the kitchen making dinner for everyone, my wife decided to log into our Xbox live account so the girls could watch something on Netflix. It just so happens that my avatar is (you guessed it) a yeti.

So the older daughter asked what it was, and my wife told her about it. After a couple seconds, she responds with this, “Oh yeah, my dad has seen one of those.” She said it so naturally it was almost comical, because I did a double take and had to ask her if she said what I thought she had.

Fast forward to a few days later when “Tim” came back from his trip to Fairbanks to pick up his daughters, I had to ask him about it. And he said yep. It was about three years ago. Somewhat later in the summer, kind of like right now.

He was having a smoke on the back porch of his father’s house off of the Knik Goose Bay road. To be more precise, he said it was close to Hollywood and Vine. Where exactly, I don’t know. But it is somewhere in that vicinity. He said it was surprising because that area isn’t exactly rural.

Anyway, as he was having his smoke he happened to look up into the woods where the yard ended (which was no more than 30 feet away), and he said just as plain as day there was a dark hairy creature looking at him square in the eyes. It was standing beside a tree and had its hand raised up over its head with its fingers around the tree. One thing he pointed out was that he vividly remembers how white the creatures eyeballs were.

As he continued telling me about it, he shared how intimidated he felt, and the only thing he could think to do was to look down at the ground and act like he didn’t notice anything, and just hope that it would go away. On a side note, I am sure that is what most people would do if they were to see something like that.

The whole thing lasted for maybe 8 seconds he said, but it felt like a lot longer. One thing that really got me, was how “Tim” says he understands now why people are hesitant to shoot a Bigfoot. In his own words, he told me how human like the thing was.

What caught me off guard was that he said it was taller and more slender, maybe like a juvenile. There also wasn’t any smell that he could detect. What’s even more puzzling is that there was a fenced in place for their small dogs to run around in, and it was located right at the edge of the woods where the creature was, but oddly enough, the dogs didn’t seem to notice that the creature was standing right by them.

He went on to tell me that when he was younger he was the type that liked to roam around in the woods a lot, but not anymore. The things are definitely smarter than we give them credit for, and they do a great job of avoiding us. I am pretty sure many people have been close to a Bigfoot but just didn’t know it. Humans don’t do a great job of seeing things in the woods if they aren’t moving.

It literally took “Tim” about a month and a half to get up the nerve to go back to where he saw the creature, and told me he reached up to where the Bigfoot’s head was, but he couldn’t reach it. That would make the creature over eight feet tall.

He told me the experience was one that you want to have, but than after you have it, you wished you hadn’t. I’m pretty sure he was referring to the intimidation factor.

And the night before the sighting, his mother heard something walking around on the roof of the house, and straight up told him, “There’s someone walking around on the roof!”

“Tim” isn’t a story teller and there is nothing for him to gain by sharing his story with me. I fully believe with 100% certainty that he genuinely saw a Bigfoot.

On Monday, September 29, 2003, at about 5:00 PM, an off-duty, New Jersey State Police Officer reportedly encountered a huge, hair-covered, bipedal creature while taking a solitary stroll through a section of the Bass River State Forest. This officer’s claims are most intriguing as he is a seasoned state trooper who allegedly came within 100 feet of an animal for which he had absolutely no frame of reference. Though he was thoroughly unnerved by the sight, he had ample daylight with which to observe the animal’s form and physical characteristics. The officer claims that as he returned to the parking area for his vehicle, the strange animal followed him through the woods ultimately revealing itself to other witnesses.

This investigation was a unique opportunity. In fear of professional reprisal, it is quite rare for law enforcement personnel to come forward with sightings of this nature.

A comprehensive report on the Bass River Forest Encounter can be found at the following link: http://www.research.umbc.edu/~frizzell/BRSFreport.html

easternsasquatch13In 1981, while enjoying his favorite fishing spot, Mr. Lon Strickler waded into the South Branch of the Patapsco River near Sykesville and began to try his luck. As he fished, he took notice of a large, mixed-breed, stray dog walking along the opposing river bank about 50 feet away. As he watched, the dog began bark and growl at a large clump of brush near the river. As Strickler observed the dog, he was amazed to see a 7 to 8 foot tall, hair covered, human shape emerging from the brush. The dog, now highly agitated, attacked the huge creature. Mr. Strickler said the beast made an odd “ticking” sound as it struggled with the dog. Within seconds, the creature slammed the canine to the ground. The dog ran off. And as the creature turned to walk back into the woods, Strickler said he caught the strange animal’s scent and described it as heavy musk.

At this point, Mr. Strickler’s story becomes stranger still as the following excerpt reveals:
” I drove to a phone in Sykesville and called the police. I was told to return to the scene and wait. It took me about 3 minutes to get back….and a [State] police cruiser was already there. I was immediately told to leave the area. I returned an hour later and noticed several state vehicles and one federal vehicle as well as police…the area was taped off. I could see people combing the area….I was told once again to leave. I tried for several days to get answers from state officials but never got an answer. I called [Baltimore TV stations] WJZ, WBAL and WMAR about the incidents and each seemed very interested. I contacted each station [several days] later and was told that they had ‘no idea’ of an incident and did not want to talk to me.”

The specific area where Strickler had his experience (a section of the Patapsco State Park) is still very heavily wooded and unpopulated.

STATE: Utah

LOCATION DETAILS: It’s a CWMU known as Thousand Peaks.

NEAREST TOWN: Coalville

NEAREST ROAD: Chalk Creek Road

OBSERVED: I was hunting Elk with my Bro in Law. Up in Chalk Creek. That is in Summit County in Utah. We had been in this deep canyon for some time. It was getting dark, so we heeded out of it. I can still see this in my head,..We were climbing up out of a small draw onto a flat meadow. As we got to the top of it. We both saw something very black in color move into a small stand of pine trees. It let out a huge Whoooff sort of sound as it went in. Also it moved a pine bow that flipped from the ground to about five feet in the air. My Bro in law said ” What the Heck was that”!!! As he put a shell into the chamber. This stand of pines was no bigger than a front yard. There was a clearing behind it. I have thought on this for some time. I think that we came in contact with it. And we surprised each other. The Creature was to our left, and we had a Beaver Dam to our right. The thing was about 30 feet away from us in the pines. We were on a Deer path between the pond and the pines. We backed up, and this thing let out a low gutteral growl at us. You could hear it’s teeth chatter also. I have felt fear in my life, but a sense of evil came over me. On the way home we talked about what we had saw. We were so close to this thing. I know for a fact it was not a Bear or Moose. A Bear does not move that fast on it’s hind legs. I used to work at Lagoon in Farmington. It’s an amusement park. I used to feed the animals down there. They had a Leapord that would growl at you when you walked by it’s cage. That growl was almost just like what I heard on that mountain. I have been in the hills all my life, and have never seen or heard anything like that.

OTHER WITNESSES: My brother in Law

OTHER STORIES: Yes I was at an Archery shop last Fall, and I told this story to a freind. Half way through the story. He said ” Your not going to tell me a Bigfoot Story “. I had not even mentioned it to him. He told me that I was the second person he had heard to see one, in the same area.

La Porte County, Indiana
Kingsbury Ordinance Plant, October 1987

In October of 1987 a friend and I went camping just outside of Kingsbury Ordinance Plant (KOP for short) in Kingsbury, IN. The nearest city there would be Stillwell. We were about a mile to a mile and a half off Hupp Road (which is the road the enters KOP).

We set up camp just before dark around 6 pm or so. After about 45 min, my friend went home to eat and call another friend of ours to come out when he gets off duty. Just around dusk, while getting fire started, I heard rustling in woods about 25 yards away. I didn’t think anything of it at the time thinking it might be a deer. After about 10 minutes, heard noise again, but it was about 15 yards away this time. I yelled “Hey” real loud and the noise stopped for about 5 minutes.

Then I heard grunting about same distance away. Getting nervous, I yelled again and said, “Knock it off.” I then picked up a stick and said that I had a gun. The noise stopped after 3 or 4 sec and as I turned to look at fire, I heard a loud thump to my right.

I looked and saw a large tree stump that landed about 8 ft away. I turned around and faced the woods and yelled very loudly, “Knock it off or I will shoot!” I then saw another large log sailed through the air toward my direction and land about 3 feet in front of me and about 5 feet to left.

I started running down a trail toward the road. I did not hear anything for about the first 100 yards, and then I heard rocks moving as if someone was running in the same direction as I, but they were on the RR tracks to my left.

The sounds of the steps were about 1 sec. apart. I heard this for about 8 to 10 sec. then it stopped. I ran for about 25 more yards and stopped. It was dark and overcast skies. I turned and looked behind me and then to my left. I then turned back toward the road and walking very fast, I came to a dip in the trail. This is where I saw a large figure standing in front of me. The dip in the trail sloped down to about 3 feet deep and ran the depth for about 30 feet then it rose again to ground level.

The figure was standing in the center of the dip in the trail and stood at the same height as myself. I am 5 ft 9 inches; so I figure it was from 8 to 9 foot tall. It was dark, but it stood about 8 ft tall and was dark and hairy. This thing let out a scream that would make your blood curdle. I did what any normal person would have done; I took off running toward my right through an open field. I ran as fast as I could away from this figure, until I finally reached my friends front steps about ¾ miles away. At first I thought it was him, but when he came to door he had been eating dinner, his shoes where off, and his mom said that he had not left the house. After he ate and our other friend arrived we all went back out there about 3 hours later. The small tent we put up was tore down and logs and stump was lying in the spots that they landed. Whatever I saw was not human. It was not my imagination. And to this day I will not go out there because of fear. I went out there one time after to drive through the ordinance plant and I felt that it was watching me from the woods.

This is NOT a joke, I’m well known here married to a funeral home director my brother n law is a law enforcement officer. I saw it clearly crossing the road right in front of me, I’m 6’4″ so is my brother n law this creature was considerably taller than me probably 6’8″ shuffling like an orangutan but more human-like but not like a man. It was covered in long hair maybe 4-6 inches long. It was not walking but not running… quickly shuffling. The most distinguishing feature was its arms, slump shouldered and its hands were below its knees. Now here is the deal, I don’t drink I don’t do drugs, I’m 55 yrs old as of May this year, have three grandbabies and two sons. I’m a christian and have NEVER, EVER, believed in bigfoot. I don’t know what this was but i do know this…. it was NOT human, no costume but not 100 percent animal. I SAW IT CLEARLY MYSELF. Please take this seriously! I don’t care if you contact me personally or not but please check this thing out there is something out there i saw it myself. Is it “bigfoot” I’ve no idea but its something… thank you for your time

We were at a small pond just off the road, doing what you did back in 1979,drinking a few beers ,well we had the radio going pretty mellow for the day, when my friend Tim, whose car we were in said did you hear that?We turned the radio down and rolled the windows down a little, listened ,nothing, so we turned the radio back up and in a few minutes We did hear something,it was a pretty loud growl, not like anything I’d ever heard before,we were on the north side of the pond and it was on the south side, there were cattails that were at least 7 foot tall on that side of the pond,Tim turned on the headlights and across the pond there was a huge hairy ape it looked like, with huge green eyes, and it was turning its head slightly from side to side, blinking its eyes, which were green only because of the headlights of course, well that got all of our attention real good, I remember asking everyone if they saw what I did,and we all agreed that bigfoot was on the other side of this real small pond,it had to be at least 8 feet tall, and had a very cone shaped head, just like a silver-back gorilla, and was black as far as I could tell,it was making some grunting sounds every now and then,we cut the headlights off and cranked his car, which chose to take a very long time to fire up,when the animal let out the most spine tingling roar I’ve ever heard, kind of like a lions grunt but much louder and longer, the car fired up and we got out of there ,when the headlights came back on it was still there,I have to say it scared us so bad we didn’t tell many people, but it has remained in my memory all these years,I can still hear that roar, its quite distinctive,I grew up in those woods since I was 7,always felt like something was watching me,from bicycles to dirt bikes we would ride those trails. At the time of the sighting the area was being developed into a industrial park, and hwy 220 bypass was in its first stages,we really were on the edge of Jackson at the time it was good bigwoods, with streams and ponds here and there.”

Mississippi, 2004

Witness Observed:

I had went and hung a stand on a tree the day before, for hunting deer. In an area around north sardis lake on public land.I knew I was the only person in there, because of the trails hadn’t been used for some time.I rode in about 2 miles in and then walked about 300 yards to where I had hung my climber. It was just about day break, I was 20 or so feet up a pine tree when I heard what sounded like someone beating a stick against a tree. I spotted some movement in the area the sound came from,What ever it was was brown and tall,my first thought was its a bear.I was using my binoculars, but it was about 200 yards from me and dawn.So I pulled up my rifle to look threw the scope, hoping I could see it better. It wasn’t any bear, it didn’t have ears on top of its head and its face was flat. It was at least 8 foot tall and stood like a man.and I noticed its skin was grayish/green where the hair was thin. I was so startled I stood up.It turned toward my direction and knew I was there. It leaned Its head back as if smelling the air, then took off. It move 40 or so yards in a few seconds and was gone.I was shaking badly and climbed straight down.I just could not believe what I had seen.

So I started walking in the direction I had seen it.I walked over to a hill where it had slid and left a track. It was a human looking foot track. This scared me because I was trying to tell myself, it was just a bear, then a sound came from the woods that sounded like whoop…whoop. So I hurried back got my stand and left those woods. That has been six years ago, and every time I told anyone my story. They made fun of me, so I been reserved about letting anyone know.

Spring 2014 in Washington State-

Witness observed:

I went out to get a couple empty plant pots located at the north corner of my house. I had some stacked up in a box. To the north and behind my house, the neighbors dog was barking like crazy from inside their fenced off back yard… There’s thick barrier of brush between me and the next lot facing west so I couldn’t really see the dog. I grabbed the two small pots and stood up and yelled at the dog to “shut up” just then the bushes in front of me started thrashing like crazy and deep growl/grunt/exhale emanated from behind them. It was surreal as sound seemed to penetrate right through me, whatever it was, it wasn’t happy.

Watching-You-II__2005epiInstinctively, I started to cover the distance to my shed about 35 feet and while I was on my way, I could feel/hear the ground pounding as “whatever” was moving for cover in the brush to the south. It was like “boom, boom, boom, boom then it crashed into the woods and there was loud sound of sticks/branches breaking… I ducked to the shed and just stood there, confused as to what just happened. I waited for what seemed to be a few minutes, grabbed a sledge hammer for some protection and was just about to make a break for the house, when the bushes and branches behind the shed started snapping, again; it was like a buffalo was charging through them… So, I stayed put and I was getting kind of freaked out. Then there was silence for a few minutes and I made the dash for the house. Once inside I grabbed my Mossberg 500 loaded with “00” buckshot and headed back out on my back deck. There was nothing to see and even the dog was quiet… I thought about looking for tracks but, I reasoned it out that whatever could make the ground shake like that would be best left alone. I’m a cautious person by nature.

I would have chalked this up to maybe being a bear except for the pounding foot steps that shook the ground… I’ve had bear run past me before in this yard as I’ve been here for 19 years. There was no tell tale Squatch smell as the wind was blowing from the South West… However, two days later, there was a horrible musky skunk smell coming through my bedroom window. Needless to say, I closed it… Something was still out there…

I’ve told this story to a few friends and it got me some weird looks…

After recently reading “The Hoopa Project” and the many incidences recounted with ground shaking foot falls, I say, put me down for a class “B” incident that was too close for comfort… I think twice about going out to the mail box now.

Today’s Daily Giant continues the story of explorer Paxson Hayes and the Giants of Sonora. In this photo from the San Jose News, December 31, 1935 pg 12, the description is given,

“Paxson Hayes, explorer, studies the head of a giant mummy discovered by him in a deep cave hitherto unexplored regions of Sonora, Mexico. The mummified remains were of a race 7 1/2 feet tall and preserved in excellent condition. Corn found with the mummies has been given to scientists.”

Yesterday I posted a picture of the ancient city in Sonora, Mexico where the giant mummies were found. Reported in the Washington Post, July 22, 1937 is “Smithsonian Amazed at Discovery of 6 1/2-Foot Mummies in Caves.” We are informed of the following about Paxson C. Hayes and G. C. Barnes from the article, “With several dozen snakes (all alive), and the burial robe of a prehistoric giant (quite dead), packed in their trailer, they stopped in Washington yesterday to promote interest in their unique fields of activity. Herpetologically speaking, their purpose in coming here from California was to present President Roosevelt with 15 Smoki snakes., 10 California and Mexican rattlers and an 8-foot baby Mexican boa constrictor, which was shedding. Marvin C. McIntyre received them at the White House, expressed gratitude and suggested the reptile house at the zoo as perhaps the best place for the snakes. Dr. Ernest P. Walker, assistant director of the Zoo, officially welcomed the snakes to their new home. That over, the visitors then dropped in at the Smithsonian Institution with the prehistoric burial robe and a four-legged stool, both of which they unearthed in a burial cave in northern Sonora, Mexico. The Californians explained that the cave, one of 18 they had discovered, contains well preserved mummies of a race which averaged over 6 1/2 feet in height (up to 8 feet tall). The caves are scattered over an area of 450 square miles. Hayes who has just returned from his fifth expedition to the caves heard about their existence from the Yaqui Indians of Mexico.”

The article also shows a photo of Hayes, Barnes and Head Keeper of the Washington Zoo, William H. Blackburn as they assist a Mexican boa constrictor. I found the following information in the Annual Report of the Board of Regents of the Smithsonian Institution “Smoki People,” through Paxson C. Hayes and G. C. Barnes, Prescott, Ariz., 5 Western bullsnakes, 2 red rattlesnakes, 2 Mexican rattlesnakes.” This if further verification of Hayes and Barnes meeting with Smithsonian officials. Lost city, giant mummified head, and a burial robe of a giant. All three with photographs, Another case where the Smithsonian Institution should be compelled to answer questions

Fossilized-jawbone

The first ancient human fossil found in Taiwan may indicate the presence of an unknown archaic species of humans who lived in Asia during the Pleistocene era, possibly hundreds of thousands of years before modern humans arrived.

The complete right-lower jaw and teeth, found in the deep waters of the Penghu Channel, west of Taiwan, was pulled from the seafloor by a fishing net. The surprisingly primitive specimen, dated through analysis to have originated from between 10,000 and 190,000 years ago, may prove to be from an unknown species of human.

“During the Pleistocene Epoch, which lasted from about 2.6 million years ago to 11,700 years ago, humans generally evolved smaller jaws and teeth, but the new fossil from Taiwan appears larger and more robust than older Homo erectus fossils from Java and northern China,” LiveScience reports on the discovery.

A study analyzing the find, published in the journal Nature Communications, suggests that multiple lineages of unknown, now-extinct humans may have existed side-by-side in Asia eons before the arrival of modern humans approximately 40,000 years ago.

Penghu-1-mandible

The Penghu 1 mandible, jaw and teeth in various orientations

The jaw, dubbed Penghu 1, is similar to a fossil found relatively nearby, in Hexian, southern China, dated to 400,000 years ago. These fossils may indicate a new species of humans, but researchers are reluctant to confirm that pending further finds.

Yousuke Kaifu, paleoanthropologist at the National Museum of Nature and Science in Japan and co-author of the study told LiveScience, “We need other skeletal parts to evaluate the degree of its uniqueness. The question of species can be effectively discussed after those steps.”

As reported just this week, the skull fragments and teeth discovered in 1976 in a cave in Xujiayoa, China are raising surprising questions about the prehistoric origins of humanity. Dental remains were recovered from four different individuals, and were examined for size, shape and surface of the teeth, as well as other defining characteristics. When the teeth were compared to a database of over 5,000 teeth of known species, María Martinón-Torres of the National Research Centre on Human Evolution found that they did not match any of the accepted hominids.

BBC Earth reported on the Xujiayoa teeth, “We know there were as many as four other early humans living on Earth when modern humans were still confined to Africa. The Neanderthals lived in Europe, the Denisovans in Asia and the “hobbit” Homo floresiensis in Indonesia: plus there was a mysterious fourth group from Eurasia that interbred with the Denisovans.”

The question is now whether all these Asian fossils represent a hybrid of known prehistoric humans, or whether scientists have an entirely new human species on their hands – or several!

The Penghu 1 jaw and teeth, combined with the recent examinations of the Xujiayoa, China teeth and skull fragments, add up to discoveries challenging the established theory on the history of modern humans. These significant finds may reshape perceptions, and show that the issue of humanity’s origins is far from settled.

Kaifu told LiveScience, “This is a very different, complex and exciting story compared to what I was taught in school.”
