Shannon is gettin it down, she’s turnin to boss. Might be the best show notes I’ve heard yet. Next thing you know she’s gonna be wearing sunglasses during shows like Wes. That’s how much of a boss she is

Hey all, new subscriber here…Been hooked since episode 16 or so. Trying to balance all the adventure of this site vs the mundane responsibilities of the daily grind. Digging all the shows and love to hear the hosts banter back and forth. That alone is worth the price of admission.

Hooray for Show Notes with Shannon! I am glad Shannon has her own show, not only for more content but she is the perfect girl for the job. Level-headed with a lot of curiosity. I think the opening music is perfect for Shannon too, very up-beat. Whenever I hear it I picture Shannon driving down the street in a convertible with sasquatch in the back seat (He is such a back-seat driver)

Does anybody know why will said he encountered 1 bigfoot while interviewed on americas book of secrets but on this show hes changed the storie to 2 creatures? Just wondered after watching the episode on netflix today. Hmmm

    • Patrick W

He must have had more then 1 encounter plus they are good at cutting things out of these type showes. Any how will is impressive in that episode of “book of secrets” everyone should try and watch it.. Hmmm..

Wow! Really wonderful show Shannon, John, and Adam.
John, you are a story teller/keeper …like Adam, I was just staring at the wall, seeing in my minds eye the picture you painted for us all.
    Thank you so much!
    God bless you all

How many sucks does it take to finnish off some Jolly ranchers and copper pennies? Enough to keep you amd your dog alive for the rest of the night. God Father is a very wise man!!!! Great show Shannon, John and Adam. Jaw breakers? chewing gum?

Great show. I have to hand it to you John for staying the 49 days. I am not a native American, I am of Scottish decent. My people are brave, but I don’t think even William Wallace would have stayed after that rock concert.I was wondering what type of creature that was if anyone would care to guess. He did say it had a mongoloid face.

With the Guy who was Camping – He said that he figured that they Knew he was already armed ?
A Little while ago , I found this deal on Facething …. Where the US Army released some info from the Vietnam Conflict. When it First Started , Top Brass had realized that it could be to the Benefit of our Troops, If they could Deploy Indian Trackers . To work with the Men . So they sent Recruiters to the Villages in the Reservations. & They Recruited Men , to send to the Jungles .
But they soon Realized , that after they had cut their Hair. That it would seem as if they had Lost all their Tracking Ability. To be able to look at a Track & tell 50 things off the top of their Head – what was going on when the Track was laid . & The ability to Wake & be ready for on coming Danger , 15 minutes before it arrived! That it had something to do with their Long Hair !?!
When I read this – I instantly thought ‘ What if you were Covered with 5 – 6 inch Hair , Over your Entire Body ? ‘ Could it Possibly Be ? That THIS is the Reason for Band Class , Out in the Forest of North
      America ? Maybe ……….?

James, it’s both – depends on who you ask, it can be a fungus, it can be a willo-whisp – it can also be the floating spores of that fungus on the wind at night. The old timers never set into stone what it was, anything that glowed at night in the woods was Foxfire to them.

Great job, Shannon! You are always so gracious in your interviews. I’m excited to hear that the gentleman from Bigfoot Ground Zero will be joining you. I was wondering what happened to him!

Thanks Shannon, Adam and John: This was an excellent show. These guys can tell a good story, recall was unbelievable. What a week, Wes experience and the experiences of Adam and John. The excellent website of SC has jump up a few more notches! Damn glad I joined even if I had to steal the money out of my mom’s purse!!

GOOD SHOW! A word on swamp gas/foxfire. This is a natural phenomena that is most commonly found in the swamplands. It takes a couple of things. I believe one being stagnant water and 2 and most importantly breaking down plant life. Think of it as an under the sludge compost pile. As the plant life breaks down in these conditions it works itself through the sludge and rises into the air. I know everyone has seen on tv shots of these swamps with bubbles coming up through the sludge. It is a type of methane gas. “Vwalla”, swamp gas. It is not phosphorescent. It is actually burning.
It has been years since I have thought about this stuff but the last time I did this is about all science knew about it. They know what it is but not how it self ignites. A lot of my family have seen it,(Owning and hunting lands with swamps) although I never have.
I have to say though in closing that it gives me more than a little satisfaction that something as common as swamp gas has as yet got the high and mighty (god syndrome) scientist head up their axx.

I think it’s a good idea that Shannon have a co host. I was going to suggest awhile ago that Woody be her co host. Her show has lacked the banter that Wes and Will have had. I think it will improve her show a lot.

  13. DonRay

i do believe they can smell a used gun(not cleaned).. they obviously know what spent gunpowder smells like… I believe they smelled guns at Wes.s encounter…… my opinion. Ciao

  14. Jeffrey H

Some people think that the Sasquatch can smell the gun power, this may be true however I have read may places that they can also read minds. John was thinking a lot about his S&W 357’s (2 classic guns) which could have easily been picked up by the Sasquatch if their ability to read minds is true. Just a thought!

  15. Bob S

Great account John, I have always had a lot of respect for the native tribes, John, your at the top of that list my friend. That took gonads that many men could only dream of, your family should be very proud of you!

  16. Eddie M

This was a cool show for me because it geographically close to my only visual experience between Sylva and Culowhee in October 1980…only I could have seen one and thought it was a released family pet but, it was my only reference point….having been around a family with a Gibbon ape growing up…it was obviously a young juvenile but, did not resemble a chimp…with the “double lip dip” look…lips appeared thin and poked out like a whistle or kiss much like the Gibbon I was accustomed seeing only all black and in a tree. I never even considered at the time it being anything else…Just wow they let it go and it’s doing fine in the wild…because it appeared healthy and robust. Probably a good thing because now I’d be looking for mom and dad and be scared to death. Great show Shannon…I agree with Adam …John’s detail was excellent. I’d have taken the ridicule and booked after the first sighting. You’re a brave guy John!

  17. willowswhispers

Thanks Shannon loved the show. Have to agree with many of the comments already made. I also listened twice. Really enjoyed John, the detail and Native American history was wonderful.. Great job looking forward to the next Show Notes! I have a question, anyone ever heard of foxfire in other areas of Eastern U.S.?

  18. LC B

I dare say the population on the East coast might be larger than that of the Pacific Northwest, logically it is a bigger region
and if you combined the sighting data it would not even be close, strikingly Illinois, my home state, is surpassing many
states including Ohio. So why are the creatures sighted at greater rate in such areas, primarily I think it is due to the need
for movement, these are very wide ranging creatures in this sparse habitat, they seem to be on the move most of the time.
I do not think in parts of the Midwest that they take up long term residence in a particular area, but have a wide ranging
territory that spans many miles. If my interpretation of the sighting data is correct these movements are in the 100 mile range.

  19. LC B

So due to the movement they are caught at times and sighted, so it may not mean more creatures per given area, just more movement per creature, and couple that with a larger denser human population and the sighting data starts to make sense, a cursory inspection of the data reveals the geographical nature of these sightings, and adds to the validity of the overall data

    • Patrick W

Yep aint it funny how that works. Seems that if your native these days you automatically have a celebrity know it all status in the bf community. The same people that put the cannibal lable on sasquatch and burnt them alive in caves now seem to have this connection and traded w them and spoke native language w them too. Give me a break.. good fun. Not..lol

  20. Eddie M

I think sightings correlate to how much forest and how many humans inhabit area. They’re obviously very resourceful but, as they lose their travel corridors the gene pool is going to be affected in those areas. The Applachian rain forest and Northwest Pacific rain forest probably offer their best opportunitys to avoid inner breeding and a healthy breeding population. I’d really like to see a no kill (unless life threatened) protection but, if the government says they don’t exist ? Not much chance. Shannon I know you want to see one maybe a wee one like I saw would be in order…no PTSD in that.

  21. Patrick W

Xlnt show tonight. John can paint a picture w details. It was like reading a good book or watching a movie. Good job Shannon. The rock clacking can be frighting when you dont know exactly whats doing it but I cant imagine how distressed john must have felt. I’ve heard it myself while hunting and for some reason it didn’t bother me as much when it was very fast clacking. It was the slow tapping that terrified me. Go figure?

  22. Bob S

Almost wonder if the extermination as it seemed back in the day of all wild North American game animals was done purposely by our gov to control the population of Bigfoot by cutting down there food sources, the disappearance of coyote, turkey deer and buffalo had to greatly affect there population growth enormously would be my gut feeling

  23. Letty

Great show, Shannon! Love the guests too! They were credible and descriptive. Love the Native American information and can’t wait to hear about the on site investigation the team plans to embark on. Look forward to the report. Hopefully, you will see one this time around. I have never seen one but I am there with you….Having your friend come over to join you as a co-host is a great idea. The more hosts the more encounters to share. It will lighten the work load too. 🙂

  24. Brian C

Coming to the party late. Ashamed we don’t see a lot more of Shannon these days. Hope all is well. Good show.

Them liking to suck pure copper pennies sort of make sense. Copper tastes like blood.

Such a great show. The Appalachians, Great Smokies and Cherokee National Forest are my home. My Cherokee ancestry is from my mother and I’ve worked and spent much time on this reservation. John is a great story teller, much like my grandfather, my mom’s dad. His recounting and description of this area is perfect. He mentions Foxfire and also that it was raining …. foxfire is a fungi that grows on trees, deadfall etc and in certain conditions it glows. Willo the wisp is different and is in a different landscape…swampy. You can reference Appalachian foxfire fungi online to see it. It’s spooky, but pretty.

Adam indicates there aren’t that many sasquatch here unless you’re drinking moonshine and hallucinating….offensive description of mountain folk that isn’t true. Most are good Christians that aren’t drinking moonshine and you won’t find “Deliverance” either. These “things” are scattered over the Southern Apps, Great Smokies and Cherokee Natl Forest from North Georgia wilderness thru Tennessee, Carolina and on up into Kentucky and the Virginias. There’s tens of thousands of acres that include lots of wildlife, water, caves and areas that man rarely if ever travels. I’m currently looking at such an area where multiple sightings have been seen as they have come out of the mountains into the foothills, and have had my own experience that’s not very astounding.
