I want to thank Nathaniel G. for sending this to me. Nathaniel writes “I recently found some references to possible sasquatches from the 1850s as well as a neat newspaper clipping about a bear fighting a sasquatch from the 1930s.”

I love historical accounts of booger sightings, thank you Wes for the extra efforts you put forth in researching in all aspects of this amazing creature. Please continue to do the good work. I’ve been with the show since the beginning and felt like a kid on Christmas morning when I first heard the program. Thanks brother and bless you and yours.

Total Bullshit. This is clearly made up. Too early for April Fools.

I like it!

Great find! Nice to see these old stories from before the press was owned by 6 corporate giants and something like this could actually get out. Thanks Wes!

That’s as good a story as the one Gangway Deisel told of his fight with two Sasquatches.

Sasquatch was not a term used by the average journalist in the era this is supposed to be written in. Wild man or giant of some kind would be more likely used.

Totally agree Lewis. The terms and writing style bear no resemblance to nineteenth or early 20 th century news article. Guys it’s made up sorry.

Great! I guess you two experts were alive at that time.

Thanks Wes, ask Nate what newspaper and date that article appeared in.

I just do not know what to believe about this, but indeed it is a neat find. The only other Sasquatch Bear encounter I am familiar with was the fisherman in Alaska docked off shore for the night when what he described as 11 foot Grizzley walked out and stared them down. Then that bear took off fast down the shore. Out of the woods comes what he described as a nine foot Sasquatch. This was from a episode of Monsters and Mysteries in Alaska a few years back. A lady that reads facial expressions suggested this fisherman was being honest. This is how I really would expect a bear to re act to a large male Sasquatch, but I was not there. However papers from an earlier time where known for this kind of journalism.

The type face and perfect spelling screams word processor.

Agree it’s totally made up.

There is a news site that allows one to create a fake news article that looks and appears authentic, and that is why it always good practice to name the source i.e. the title, publishing newspaper, local city if its local, date and page number. Barring that, if send an article capture the original Newspaper source and date the article appeared in it.

WHEW! Thank goodness! I thought this sounded like something from The Onion! It was too oddly written for me.

I keep thinking of the Simpson’s and of Jebidiah Springfield killing a bear with his “bare” hands! 🙂

“ugh, ugh” ? Seriously? I don’t think I have ever seen that sort of reporting, even from 200 years ago.
