A listener writes “I live in central Mississippi and about 3 weeks before Christmas of 2023 I was driving to work. I drove a truck route and had to leave the warehouse at 3am every morning. I lived little over an hour from work so I’d leave my house by 1:30am every morning.

I had just left the house and was maybe 5 minutes away from home, doing around 65 mph and some crossed the road in front of me. It was pure white, as white as freshly fallen snow and it was maybe 2-3 in front of my truck. It was stretched out and the top of its nose to the top of its tail covered the entire lane. I know lanes are 16 feet wide. I drive a Ford F150 with a 3 inch lift on it.

The good if my truck comes up to my mid chest and I’m 6’3, I saw this thing from the middle of its belly up. So standing on all 4’s it had to be 5-6 feet tall. The tail was kinda bushy like a raccoon tail. I only saw it for a second but it was like time stood still when it got in front of my truck. Not much of an encounter but for 2 years I’ve wondered what I saw. Any input is welcome. Thank you for your time and if you can give me any ideas of what this thing was I’d appreciate.”

A listeners writes “I’ve been wrestling with an experience I had five years ago while working as a first responder in East Tennessee. Let me tell you my story, and I’ll let you speculate on what it is that I saw.

I don’t remember the exact date, but I know it was between the hours of 2-3 AM between Thanksgiving and Christmas in Sullivan County, Tennessee, near the Hawkins County border in 2020. A more exact location would be the adjacent field/treeline at the intersection of Morelock Road/Beech Creek Road (TN Hwy 347). As I said before, I was covering a shift on a rescue truck for the volunteer fire department I was a member of. In that role, I responded to emergency medical, fire, and rescue calls in my area and rendered care until an ambulance arrived. My vehicle was a modified F250 pickup truck complete with lights and sirens. I responded to a call at the brick home near the intersection I mentioned before. After the call was over, the patient transported by the ambulance, I returned to my vehicle and put my medical bag in the truck.

The truck was parked in the gravel pull-off beside of the brick house in front of an old, unoccupied building to leave room for the ambulance in the driveway of the house where the patient was. The rear of the truck was facing Beech Creek Rd and the front was facing the old building. My red and white emergency lights were still flashing. As I put my bag in the back seat of the truck, I got this overwhelming feeling of dread, like something was watching me.

It was one of those feelings that gives you goosebumps, for lack of a better word. I looked to my right, toward Beech Creek Road, and saw a pair of red eyes staring at me in the wood line approximately thirty or forty yards off the roadway. The eyes were only illuminated when the emergency lights on my truck flashed. I couldn’t see any body features or any kind of silhouette. All I saw was the eyes. They were stationary and were staring constantly at me. I couldn’t help but keep looking at them but I kept getting increasingly more nervous and nervous to the point that I felt I needed to get out of there.

I honestly felt terrified as I left because I had to back my truck up toward the eyes onto Beech Creek Road to begin my return trip to my station. I did so very quickly and, unfortunately, was too cowardly to turn on my scene lights in the direction of the eyes to see what was there. I just got out of Dodge as quick as I could. I’ve been in many tense situations in my tenure as an EMT, but that one takes the cake and I don’t know why. I’m no longer with that department due to healthcare problems, but I did run calls in that area afterward and never had any other encounters.

Interestingly enough, my friend (and fellow first responder), had an experience with a creature on the same stretch of roadway where it chased him in his vehicle.

Perhaps what’s more disturbing is the fact that a small child, Summer Wells, disappeared from her home without a trace the following June (2021) and still hasn’t been found. Local, state, and federal entities have combed the area substantially and not a trace was found. Search dogs tracked her scent to a point near Beech Creek Road but then refused to track anywhere else. That leaves two options, either she was taken in a vehicle or the dogs were afraid to track further. What’s also wild was the number of federal entities that saturated the area. FBI and even homeland security was spotted in the area along with Black hawk helicopters and countless unmarked vehicles with government tags. It really makes you wonder.

That’s it in a nutshell. I am very interested in the Bigfoot/Sasquatch subject and would love to learn more, particularly of sightings in my area.”

Adam Davies writes “In this exclusive interview, Adam Davies sits down with a Georgia deer hunter who came face-to-face with Bigfoot in 2010 deep in the woods. The witness recounts every chilling detail of the encounter — from the moment he saw the massive creature to how it changed the way he views the outdoors forever.

Topics covered:
• The exact location of the 2010 Georgia Bigfoot sighting
• What the creature looked like up close
• The hunter’s reaction and follow-up investigation
• How this sighting fits into other reports from Georgia and the Southeast”

Encounter While Hunting in Georgia

Adam Davies writes “While fishing alone by a remote river in Washington State in 2012, Kevin, who was not previously a believer in Bigfoot, experienced something he will never forget. At first, he thought he was looking at a tree—but then it moved.

Standing upstream was a massive, man-like creature covered in dark hair. When Kevin reached for his bag containing a camera and a gun, the creature reacted with a deep, thunderous roar that shook him to his core.

Raising his hands, Kevin spoke calmly: “I am no threat to you.” After a tense standoff, the Bigfoot turned and disappeared into the forest.

In this 7-minute interview, Kevin recounts every detail of that encounter—the sound, the movement, and the massive size of the creature.”

The Confessionals writes “Patrick and Patti’s story is one of deep entanglement with the supernatural—and an even deeper redemption. Years of shamanic practice, soul retrievals, and spiritual power left them facing darkness masquerading as light.

But when every false god failed, they found what they had been searching for all along: the real authority of Jesus Christ. What followed was a radical breaking of covenants, a cleansing of their past, and a surrender that brought true peace for the first time. This conversation isn’t about religion; it’s about the moment deception shatters, and truth finally takes its place.”

Homo floresiensis is an extinct species of small-bodied humans that lived on the Indonesian island of Flores until surprisingly recent times possibly as late as 50,000 years ago. They are often nicknamed “hobbits” because of their short stature and small brains, reminiscent of the fictional beings from The Lord of the Rings.

Discovery

  • Found: 2003, in the Liang Bua cave on Flores Island, Indonesia.

  • Discoverers: An international team of Indonesian and Australian archaeologists.

  • Fossil name: The most complete skeleton is known as “LB1.”

Physical Characteristics

  • Height: About 3 feet 6 inches (1.06 meters) tall.

  • Brain size: Around 380 cubic centimeters — roughly one-third the size of a modern human’s brain, similar to that of a chimpanzee.

  • Body: Despite their small stature, they had human-like body proportions and could walk upright.

  • Features: A mix of primitive and modern traits — their skulls and teeth looked somewhat human, but their wrists, shoulders, and feet were more like early hominins such as Australopithecus.

The Terrifying World of the Real Life Hobbits

Oregon Public Broadcasting writes “Indigenous peoples of the Nch’i-Wána, or Columbia River, know Bigfoot not as a monster but as a protector, a spiritual being that walks between the seen and unseen.

For thousands of years, oral histories of Bigfoot have been passed down as a knowledge system, rooting Pacific Northwest tribes in respect, reverence and relationship with the land. Amidst mainstream portrayals of Bigfoot, this film offers instead an Indigenous perspective on the world’s most famous cryptid—as a relative rather than myth.

Featuring the lived experiences of world champion jingle dancer Acosia Red Elk, artist Toma Villa, tribal council member Carlos Calica and anthropologist Phil Cash Cash, with an original score by Geneviève Gros-Louis.”

Strange Familiars writes “Timothy Grieve-Carlson returns and brings three stories of the paranormal from early American history. First we hear the story of Eleseba Beeler and what is likely the first documented poltergeist in America.

The case involves buried treasure, aggressive spirits, messages from beyond, and a strange religious ritual at the Ephrata Cloister. We also hear a tale of telepathic communication and a very strange UFO report submitted to Thomas Jefferson.”

Strange Familiars: An Exacting Relation of a Disembodied Spirit

Jeff writes “I’ve had 3 encounters with these animals, all unsolicited/unwanted on my part. Plus, I’ve never gone out looking for these creatures. It’s not something that I would recommend for anyone to do, but that’s just me & I’m sure I’m a little biased after my run-ins with them.

The first two encounters were in the late ‘70’s in a heavily wooded & small(especially back then) suburb of Charlotte called Mint Hill & about 6-9 months apart. I really had no idea that Bigfoot were even on the east coast & my only knowledge of them was mainly from the “In Search Of” TV show that showed the PG film, which I saw the original airing & made sure to catch the next time they showed it again, as I was very interested in those kind of things. My encounters began about a year or two later.

First encounter: As a teenager I used to practice walking thru the woods, with or without shoes, trying to be as quiet as possible as I admired the way native Americans were very skilled at this. One night I accidentally snuck up on an apparent BF while doing this & it was not very happy when it realized I was there!

Second encounter: A full visual(head to toe) of a white one on a full moon night shaking a tree right behind me. Of course, he wasn’t happy where I was either.

Third encounter: Fast forward 40 years to right before Covid hit & in Uwharrie NF while mountain biking.

JD writes “I was 17 years old. Heading into my senior year in high school. Life was good. This was in 2001, over summer break. On a blue sky summer day, my friend and I decided to go out for a drive and walk around a park, known as Shevlin Park. Now, back in 2002 you could go out to places in and around Bend and it wouldn’t be overcrowded by tourists.

Shevlin Park was on the outskirts of town with trails along Tumalo Creek that backed up to nothing but nature. Of course today there’s houses and it feels more like a park surrounded by residential housing.

I included a photo to help understand my encounter. In the photo, the red dot is where my friend and I parked. The yellow dot is where we had our encounter and the direction this creature went. That day we got lucky as there was nobody else around. We decided to take a walk over to Tumalo Creek. Within minutes of walking I noticed in front of me a large pine tree that had fallen over. The tree was resting up on its stump and it had fallen over into a thick growth patch of pine trees and aspens and your random shrubs. I got the immediate idea to hop up onto the tree and attempt to balance my way along the fallen tree. Now this tree, resting on the stump and the top of the tree now resting in a thicket of trees, there was probably about 3 feet of space from the tree parallel to the ground. I was about 5ft 11inches so I figured once I was up on the tree walking along it I would have been close to 9ft. My friend stayed on the ground and walked along the side as I walked my way on the fallen tree. Now I had only been up on this fallen tree for a matter of seconds and as I started to walk on the fallen tree I suddenly started hearing what sounded like branches breaking, shrubs being smashed, basically, trees being disturbed by something. I glance up towards the sound and all I can see is this black mass at the end of the tree behind the thicket of trees and shrubs. This black mass starts to rise and my first thought is, “oh shit, we just woke up a bear!”. Only problem was this black mass kept rising and rising and rising. I froze, not knowing that I was seeing.

I knew there were no animals known to Central Oregon that were that big. I had no idea what to think. And that’s when this black mass steps out from the thicket of trees and shrubs into full view. My eyes could not believe what I was seeing. Frozen in fear, hair standing up on the back of my neck, here was this huge dark brown bipedal creature that I would estimate to be maybe 2 feet taller than me. The head rested right on the body as if there was no neck at all. The shoulders on this thing had a massive width. And the arms seemed to be long, which would place the hands right around the knees. At the time I was experiencing mostly fear, but I know a small part of me was also amazed. I was seeing something that wasn’t supposed to exist. I had heard about the legendary bigfoot and seen the Patterson footage. But I never thought much on the subject. When this creature stepped out, it was clear as day what I was witnessing and when I try to describe what I saw, this thing literally looked like the creature from the Patterson footage, except the hair seemed a bit shorter and cleaner. As this creature walked off into the woods, it never looked back. My friend and I only saw the back of this creature. I think it was possible we woke it up. In Shevlin Park there is a pond (the green dot in the photo) that was usually stocked with fish. I could only think that it might have come down in the night, had some fish, and decided to sleep a little longer than planned. As this creature walked off into the woods every step sounded like if you took a brick and threw it on the dirt and heard that thud. We watched this creature walk away for about 20 seconds until it was no longer in sight. This whole experience from it rising in the thicket to stepping out into view and walking off probably lasted around a minute. But during this encounter it felt like time almost stopped and my friend and I were frozen in fear for an hour. After the creature was no longer in view I turned to hear and all I could say was “what the heck was that!”. She couldn’t respond, still being confused about what she had just witnessed. We headed back to the car and when we both got in the car, I turned to hear and said, “I think we just saw bigfoot.”

From that day nature has never been the same. I still have a huge passion for the outdoors but since that encounter, I always catch myself scanning the tree line or taking a moment to pause and listen, wondering if I would run into this creature again. I remember being excited to share the experience with my mom once she got home from work. First thing she asked me was if I had been smoking anything. She found the whole thing funny and she listened to my whole encounter but I could tell she did not believe me. It turned into a joke, a laughing matter, that to this day, I still get laughed at if I bring it up. It was the same way when I shared my encounter with my friends.

That was a huge blow realizing that nobody believed me. I realized that this was something that I couldn’t just share with people. So I kept it locked away. I figured, although terrifying, what an awesome experience to get to see something that most people think doesn’t even exist. I moved on with my life after that encounter figuring that was a once in a lifetime encounter. Odds of something like that happening again, yeah right. Which brings me to my second encounter.

Encounter #2

In Bend there wasn’t much back to do on a weekend when I was in my early 20’s. You could go to the bars, or find a house party, or take off into the woods and have yourself a nice bonfire party with friends. Those were very popular back in my day. Now I cannot remember the specific year this took place. Maybe 2004. It was summer. My group of guy friends and I were always looking for the next best place to have a bonfire party so we would cruise the forest roads, or even unmarked roads, looking for the perfect spot. In the photo I included you’ll see the yellow dot is where we had found this perfect little cul de sac at the end of a dirt road. This was just south of Bend so it didn’t take long to get there either. It was perfect and became our go to spot for just us guys. The cul de sac had a huge manzanita field growing next to it. In the photo you’ll see the manzanita is the light green area and we were also nestled up next to the lava flow. However the end of this dirt road was lined with fresh pine trees that ranged in heights of just 1ft to around 20 ft. They basically created a wall to where you couldn’t really see the field unless you pushed through the wall of trees to the other side.

So, one night my friends and I head out to our spot. It’s a normal night of relaxing, having a very laid back time. At one point during the night, out of nowhere, we heard this scream/howl off in the distance. In the photo the red dot on the other side of the lava flow is where I would have guessed this sound came from. This scream/howl lasted for maybe 10 seconds. We all got real quiet wondering what that was. And of course, after the encounter I had a few years prior, I immediately said, “That is bigfoot!” I of course received plenty of laughter from my friends but I told them again, “I know it’s crazy but that is legit a bigfoot. That’s what they sound like.” After my first encounter I dove into my research and listened to recordings of howls, read up what research was available at the time. They kept poking fun and eventually I just brushed it off. I was reminded that it didn’t matter that I had an encounter. I knew they would never believe me anyways unless they experienced it for themselves. So I brushed it off and we continued through our night. Now I would guess around an hour and a half to maybe 2 hours later, there we are, chatting it up. It’s nice and quiet. The fire is going strong. The sky is filled with stars. And then it happened…

Out of nowhere, the loudest scream, growl, howl, which seemed all combined into one poured into our little cul de sac area. It sounded like a monster. That’s the only way I can put it. And whatever this thing was, was directly right behind the wall of trees. It had to have been maybe 15 to 20 feet from us. I’ll never forget, when I play the event over in my head, the feeling I had in my chest. It’s like I could feel this animal’s growl/scream/howl inside my chest. It felt like I had been stunned. All I know is when this vocalization hit me, it knocked me over in my camping chair. My friend to the left of me also was knocked over. But my friends that had their backs to the wall of trees, they lunged forward out of their seats unbelievably fast. Myself and my friend who had also been knocked backwards in our chairs got up from the dirt at lightning speed. I think myself and my 4 friends were in my car, doors locked, in a matter of seconds. In the photo, as mentioned, the yellow dot was where our site was, and the red dot next to it, is where I believe this creature was. My friends and I sat in the car for over an hour debating on who was going to get out and put the fire out.

None of us wanted to exit the car after hearing this beastly roar. I could see in my friends faces they were scared, as was I. I kept thinking, that could only have been a bigfoot. But instead of hearing one of these vocalizations from far away like others have heard, we had front row seats. Only difference was that this creature sounded mad. The vocalization gave the feeling that this thing wanted us out of there. Eventually we all agreed to get out together and put the fire out. I had never seen my friends move so cautiously and on the ready for retreat in case this creature was still around. In the end, we got the fire out and left. And after that night, we never went back to that spot. The car ride back into town was quiet. I could tell none of us wanted to talk about what had just happened. And after that night, we didn’t speak of it again. We all knew we experienced something that night that scared the toughness out of all of us. Almost like the feeling of being a little kid scared of a monster. And I hope to never hear a noise like that again in my life.”

The Rougarou (also spelled Rugaru, Roux-Ga-Roux, or Loup-Garou) is one of the most enduring and chilling legends of the Louisiana bayous, a werewolf-like creature rooted in French folklore.

The story begins in France, long before Louisiana even existed.
In medieval French folklore, there was a creature called the Loup-Garou  literally meaning “wolf-man” (from loup = wolf, garou = man who transforms).

The loup-garou was believed to be:

  • A person cursed or punished for sins or broken vows.

  • A shape-shifter, turning into a wolf-like monster under the full moon.

  • Vulnerable to holy objects like crosses or blessed weapons.

When French settlers and Acadians migrated to the New World  especially to Louisiana in the 17th and 18th centuries they brought the loup-garou legend with them. Over time, the term evolved phonetically in the Cajun dialect to Rougarou.

The Rougarou is often described as:

  • A tall, human-like creature with the head of a wolf or dog, covered in hair.

  • Possessing red, glowing eyes and razor-sharp teeth.

  • Said to prowl the swamps, sugarcane fields, and graveyards at night.

Some versions say it hunts sinners, particularly those who break Lenten promises, while others claim it punishes evildoers, liars, and those who don’t respect community rules.

In the early 1900s, a Cajun trapper from Houma, named Jean Baptiste Landry, reported being stalked by something in the swamp late one night. He claimed he was checking his traps by lantern light when he heard splashing footsteps behind him not the quick movements of an alligator or raccoon, but slow, heavy steps, almost human.

“It was walkin’ on two feet,” he later told friends, “and when I turned, the light caught its eyes red like fire. I shot my pistol, and it screamed, like no man or beast I ever heard.”

When he returned in daylight, he found tracks shaped like human feet with claws at the toes. The creature was never seen again, but Landry reportedly gave up trapping after that night.

Around 1925, residents of Bayou Goula, near Donaldsonville, began reporting a hairy creature that came out of the cane fields at night, killing livestock and terrifying families. One farmer claimed he saw a tall figure covered in dark hair walk upright across his yard. Dogs refused to approach it. A local priest was said to have blessed the area, urging people to attend Mass and keep their Lenten vows linking the attacks to the Rougarou’s punishment of sinners.

After several weeks, the creature reportedly vanished, and the killings stopped.

The 1971 Prairieville Highway Encounter

In 1971, a man driving late at night near Prairieville, Louisiana, claimed to have nearly hit something “huge and hairy” that darted across the highway. He described it as “part man, part wolf”, with a snout and yellow eyes that reflected in his headlights. When he stopped to look, the creature allegedly stood up from the ditch, bared its teeth, and growled before running into the woods on two legs.

Local sheriffs found nothing but other drivers soon began reporting a “beast of the bayou” on that same stretch of road.

The 1990s Atchafalaya Basin Fishermen Encounter

In the early 1990s, two fishermen near the Atchafalaya Basin claimed to have seen something stalking the banks as they camped. Around midnight, they heard splashes and heavy movement through the brush. When they shined their light, they saw a tall creature with glowing red eyes — taller than a man, covered in dark hair. One witness said:

“It wasn’t no bear. It was standin’ straight up, lookin’ right at us. And when we yelled, it took off into the swamp like nothin’.”

Locals later told them it was “the Rougarou” and warned them not to talk about it, saying “if you speak its name too often, it comes for you.”

The 2006 Lafourche Parish Sighting

A more recent case came in 2006, when a group of teenagers driving home from a football game near Lafourche Parish reported a “large, gray, dog-headed figure” crossing the road.

They said it paused, looked directly at their car, and then bounded into the sugarcane field with enormous leaps. When sheriff’s deputies checked the area, they found no animal tracks only large, humanlike prints leading toward the marsh.

Several residents later told local radio hosts that the Rougarou had returned a warning that Lent was approaching, echoing the old Catholic versions of the tale.

The 2013 Houma Swamp Festival Encounter

In 2013, during Houma’s annual Rougarou Festival, a man from Thibodaux reportedly had a real sighting on his drive home. He claimed to have seen a creature crouched by the roadside, glowing eyes reflecting from the swamp water.

“I thought it was just somebody in a costume from the festival,” he said, “but when it stood up, it was too tall seven, eight feet easy and it turned its head, like a wolf on a man’s body.”

He refused to attend the festival again, saying, “I saw the real thing.”

Eyewitness Themes and Behavior

Across all accounts from early oral legends to modern sightings certain details remain consistent:

  1. Red or yellow glowing eyes

  2. Foul odor (wet fur, decay)

  3. Stalking behavior at night

  4. Disappearance at dawn

  5. Religious or moral warnings attached to sightings

Even skeptics agree the Rougarou functions as a powerful living legend, with psychological and cultural weight that keeps it alive in Cajun memory.

The Dahl Bigfoot encounter is a mysterious and chilling story from the Pacific Northwest, often cited in older Bigfoot lore as one of the strangest early disappearances connected to the creature. While not as famous as Bluff Creek or Ape Canyon, the Dahl encounter stands out for its eerie circumstances and unexplained ending.

The year was 1958, and William “Bill” Dahl was a prospector, logger, and outdoorsman who often worked in the Mount St. Helens wilderness of Washington State — a region already rich with reports of strange “hairy men” seen in the forests and canyons.

Dahl was known locally for his curiosity about such reports. According to accounts retold in cryptozoological circles, he’d been hearing rumors of large footprints found near the Lewis River, and booming screams at night echoing from the ridges. Determined to find the source, Dahl set out alone on a short solo expedition in early summer.

Dahl reportedly set up camp near the river, close to a small cabin he sometimes used for prospecting. Over several nights, he began experiencing increasingly disturbing activity:

  1. Unexplained Footsteps:
He wrote in notes later found among his belongings that he heard “heavy, two-footed walking” outside the cabin after dark — the sound of something circling him slowly in the night.

  2. Thrown Rocks and Screams:
On the second night, he described rocks being thrown at his campfire and hearing a “deep growl or moan” coming from the tree line.

  3. The Smell:
Dahl also mentioned a “sickening stench like dead animals and wet fur”, something long associated with Bigfoot encounters even today.

  4. Massive Tracks:
He followed large humanlike footprints near his camp the next morning each about 16 inches long and deeply pressed into the mud.

Then, suddenly, Dahl vanished.

When friends and coworkers noticed he hadn’t returned, a search party went out to find him. What they discovered was unsettling:

  • Dahl’s rifle was found leaning against a tree near his camp.

  • His boots and backpack were still inside his cabin.

  • The ground showed large footprints leading away into dense forest but no return tracks.

  • No body or trace of Dahl was ever found.

Even the dogs brought in by searchers were said to have refused to follow the trail, whining and backing away. The Dahl Bigfoot encounter remains a mystery without closure part of a broader pattern of disappearances and unexplained happenings in the forests around Mount St. Helens.

Researchers later connected the case with earlier incidents like the Ape Canyon attack (1924) and later theories explored in Missing 411, where wilderness vanishings occur under odd and often “impossible” circumstances.

A listener writes “Hello Wes, I just came across your podcast recently and have really enjoyed hearing everyone’s stories. I would like to tell you about a sighting I had in 1991.

I grew up in Louisville Ky and have always loved the outdoors, and in 1991 I was an 11-year-old boy scout.

My scout troop was in Perryville Ky for a scout gathering and to see the Civil War re-enactment of the Battle of Perryville. Perryville is a small town in Central Ky
that is surrounded mostly by farm fields with patches of forest here and there. My scout troop was camped just outside of town at a farm that many troops stayed on.

I was one of the younger scouts and the 1st night the older scouts took me out to go “Snipe Hunting”, a common prank that the older scouts like to play on the younger ones.

It was early fall, I think October, but I am not certain. About a dozen of us scouts were walking through a huge farm field that was lined with a wooded section down 2 sides at around 8-9pm.

We were about 25 ft from the edge of the tree line, and I had stopped to tie my boot when I heard rustling in the woods right next to me. I looked up and shined my flashlight at the noise and right next to a huge tree was what my 11-year-old mind thought was an Ewok, like from Star Wars. I assume it was a juvenile sasquatch. It was about the same height as me, maybe 4 1/2 ft tall and covered in hair. I remember its pupils dilatating when my light hit its eyes, they were huge. Almost its entire body was in my view with the exception of its right arm that was behind the tree.

After about 3 seconds of us staring at each other, it looked up to its right, and then it seemed as if something jerked it back behind the tree and out of my sight. I now believe that maybe its mother was there and pulled it out of view when it realized it was being seen. I yelled for the other scouts and took off running to tell my story where they all laughed and no one believed me.

That was my sighting story, and I do have an encounter story from 2012 if you would like to hear about that as well.”

A listener writes “The first encounter was on a creek in south central Kentucky. I wasn’t your normal teenager. I didn’t run around with my friends much but my passion was hunting and tracking. I read tom Jones Jr’s book, The Tracker” and I was hooked on the outdoors.

When I was approximately 13. I used to go down to the creek at night and take a lantern and catch catfish. I just really enjoyed it. It was so peaceful and occasionally id catch a drum or snapping turtle that would really test my set up. One night I had been fishing for 3 or 4 hours. I should add that to my southwest probably 100 yards there was a road cut Into the mountain. And to get the road to stabilize there. They had put huge amount of rip rap rocks to build it up for the road. We’ll I could and still can hear very well and even at 13 I knew every animal in the woods. That night something very strange happened. The road was on the other side of the creek and the woods run up to the road. As I sat in there in the dark with my lantern glowing on low I heard something running barefooted on the road then I heard it grab the guardrail and jump the guard rail. I could hear rocks sliding where it landing in the rip rap rocks.

Then things got weird. It got super quiet in the woods. I could hear faint footsteps but I was down lower than the forest because of the creek bank was about 10 feet high. Which probably blocked my light shine I just kept fishing. I was young and I thought it was just my mind playing tricks and some deer had crossed the road. Then all hell broke lose. At first it started throwing rocks in the creek. First small ones then ones that sounded like basketball size. I just ignored it and kept fishing. Thinking maybe fish were jumping. Then about about 20 min went by and I caught a catfish and I turned up the latern. And I could see eye shine on the opposite banking was messing with the fish and after I unhooked it and threw it back. The eyes were still steady on me.

Then in one motion the animal turned its head and was gone. The next 15 minutes it made vocalizations. It didn’t seem mad. Just like it was Maybe trying to find its group or just to get me to leave. The only sounds that I can compare them to are barn owls. I never felt in danger. Before I left I caught a pretty good size bluegill and left it on the bank as an offering. Just in case we ever had another encounter.

The second encounter was when I was 16. I bow hunted my entire life Im now 47 and still love it as much as I did back then. But in southeastern. Ky is the big south fork, a vast wilderness of bear, probably elk now. And whitetail deer. Which I was after. I had walked in on a muddy pretty well cut trail that fish and wildlife kept up. Its called the Helipad.

I guess if they have a rescue from the bottom of the Ravens they would use the field at the end of this road to chopper them out. At a out the 5 mile mark there’s a road that turns to the left so I was going out that was and my dad was going the other way to the helipad to hunt the fields. It was early in October and some leaves had fallen. So visibility up a tree was actually really good. I could see probably 200 yards down. Towards the fields. I probably got settled in around 230. I had climbed a popular tree. Bc it was straight and easy to climb. And be quiet. At around 330 I saw movement down the point as far as I could see. It was dark and as it moved towards me.

It moved like a bobcat jumping from the base of each tree to the next to make no sound. Ive observed Bobcats do this before to be quiet. Except this animal was standing doing it. Its arms were long and it moved effortlessly. It would walk fallen trees when it could it was only 5-6 tall and it black with red tips at the end of the hair. I was watching it thru binos. It looked like a juvenile. Its hair looked well groomed and almost shined in the sunlight. It was graceful and strong. It would jump what looked like 8-10 feet to bases of trees and grab the truck with one hand and you couldn’t hear it coming. Finally around 75 yards it spotted me idk how. Maybe it sensed me. It jumped behind and tree and would peep out from the far side trying to figure me out. After what seemed like.

An hour but was only 15 minutes it turned and made its way back the way it came. Being as quiet as possible. When it got outta site. I got down and high tailed it out bc if there’s juveniles there’s adults please contact me i have a degree in biology specializing in fish and wildlife habitat. And I would love to talk with you about what I saw.”

A listener writes “I feel compelled to write to you about my Sasquatch encounters after listening to your podcasts. Thanks for taking the time to read this. I was born & raised in Charlotte, NC in the early ‘60’s, & have lived here or just outside the city limits for almost my entire life.

I’ve had 3 encounters with these animals, all unsolicited/unwanted on my part.

Well, so much time went by(decades from the first two) that all the fear & emotions associated with these events started coming back to the surface of my emotions & conscious mind that it was getting to the point where I wouldn’t be able to function properly unless I started talking about them & trying to get these things out of my system, just from a healthy emotional state of being point of view. I was having flashbacks & couldn’t focus on what I was doing as an example, and it was becoming more frequent as time went on.

I only started talking about these events to a very small amount of individuals since right around the 3rd encounter, because I never wanted to give out false information if I wasn’t 100% sure of what I was talking about regarding what I’ve seen &/or encountered. I’ve since spoken with Matt Pruitt multiple times & love talking to him, especially since we grew up only a few hours apart geographically. He understands literally where I’m coming from, knows the terrain, the fauna & flora + is very knowledgeable on the subject matter as I’m sure you’re aware.

He’s also the one that recommended that I listen to your podcasts after my many questions thrown his way. I probably owe him a few thousand $$ that he’s saved me on avoiding psychiatric help, just by listening to me recount these events & getting them off my chest lol. I’d love to talk to you & discuss these events if you’re interested.”
