Camping With Sasquatch writes “Sasquatch Behavior & Observations – Washington State Bigfoot Investigator Scott Taylor. Here I interview Scott Taylor, a BFRO Investigator with many investigations over the years. he shares some great insights and knowledge about Sasquatch.”
Mysteries Unknown writes “In this episode of Mysteries Unknown, Darrell Denton shares a truly terrifying and bizarre Class A Dogman encounter that took place in the Land Between the Lakes (LBL) alongside Martin Groves. What started as a routine outing quickly turned into a nightmarish experience that defies explanation.
But that’s not all—Darrell also recounts another chilling night in the LBL where he and his group found themselves completely surrounded by both Bigfoot and Dogman. With strange sounds, eerie movements, and an overwhelming sense of being watched, this encounter left them questioning everything they thought they knew about these cryptid creatures.”
The Confessionals writes “In episode 728: Spider Crawling Bigfoot and The Cabin With Dark Secrets, TJ shares firsthand encounters with something beyond the realm of normal Bigfoot lore. Towering figures watching from the treeline, deep, unearthly whoops echoing through the night—but the real terror? A Sasquatch that doesn’t walk but crawls, moving low to the ground like a massive, inhuman spider. Reddish fur, forearms thick as a man’s legs, and intelligence lurking behind its eyes.
However, that’s just the beginning. Strange footprints under windows, guttural chatter from unseen mouths, and a primal force in the woods that seems to choose who gets to see it. Is this an undiscovered creature, a spiritual entity, or something far older than we can comprehend? When the forest comes alive, you’ll wish you weren’t there to see it.”
A listener writes “I thought I’d send you a couple of recordings that my ex husband and I made back in 2006 and in 2017. I will attach them at the end of this email along with a loop and spectrograph from David Ellis at the Olympic Project. This is what he said.
“One of the vocalizations you captured is a call I have been following for quite some time. I haven’t gotten into the detail just yet but suffice to say I saw the visual marker in a spectrogram that indicated this specific vocalization.”
The first recording was in Southern Oregon and we were camping up at Willow Lake which is near the small town of Butte Falls.
It was the first week of October and there was no one else in the campground except the camp host and us.
On a couple of nights, we were woken up by a strange, high pitch screaming/yelling. On the second night, after the first few screams, we remembered that our camera had a video setting and started to record it.
The camera microphone was extremely sensitive! You can clearly hear the water faucet near our tent dripping and the heater clicking.
After the first few screams, the coyotes started howling, then it became intermixed with the screams. We also heard loud growling, grunting sounds. These grunting sounds are heard at 12, 27, 46, 1:02, 2:02, 2:11, 2:45, 3:04, 3:34, and 5:07.on the recording.
After the first night I went 35 miles into town to buy a cassette recorder. We turned it on recorder at 4:00 minutes into the camera recording but it was too noisy!
A couple came to the campground the next day to use the showers and we talked with them a while. They were doing the fire watch at a logging site a couple miles from the lake.
When Robert, my ex husband asked them if they had heard anything strange, the guy said hell yes we heard something strange! And he said he got up and got his gun ready just in case! He said he half expected to have something come flying through the door of their RV!
This was not my first encounter with “strange noises” in the woods, which I have believe was Bigfoot.
In 1976, me, my first husband, Dave, his brother and his brothers wife, all went deer hunting in October of that year. We went to an area off Grizzly road, near 37 road, called Short Creek Burn, to camp and hunt.
The area to me, has always been kind of creepy. One of my sister-in-laws had actually gotten lost over night in the area the year before. It is fairly deep in the woods, and has a large open meadow that has a drift fence on 3 sides and a little creek at the end of the meadow. There is an old, abandoned forrest service cabin in one corner of the pasture near the tree line and we set up camp about 20 yards away from the old cabin. After we set up camp, my husband and his brother left in one of the vehicles to go scouting and see if there were many deer in the area.
They left my sister in law, I will just call her T, and myself in camp sitting around the campfire.
It was a damp night, so we put the guns in the canopy on the back of the pick up, all except for T’s 270 and her 22 pistol. (I don’t want to use her name. When my daughter, after seeing one, asked her about this years later, she looked at my daughter and said “I don’t know what you’re talking about”.)
It was now very dark and we had a huge fire going. About 20 feet from the fire was brush and saplings that stood about 15 or 20 feet tall and probably 20 feet deep. The fire we had going was quite large, the place was lit up almost like daylight and all the birds and squirrels in that brush were going nuts chattering and squawking, rustling around making so much noise that I yelled “SHUT UP” really loudly.
Well they did shut up, but almost instantly, something else yelled back! And it was close, real close! And really, really loud!
It was a sound that I had never heard before in my life! And I grew up in southern Oregon running around in the woods.
This was a sound you could feel, that made every hair on your body stand on end! It started out like a deep moaning, screaming wail, then went higher pitched, then went down into a growling roar! It lasted what seemed like an hour but I’m sure it was not more than 10 or 15 seconds.
We looked at each other and I’m sure my eyes were just as big as hers! T, (who was a city girl) stuttered, “wha….wha….wha….what was that?”
I don’t really know why, but I immediately thought of Sasquatch, but I didn’t want to tell her that, so I replied,
“I don’t know, but I’m getting in the truck!”
But we didn’t have the keys to the truck, her husband had them in his pocket! Luckily, it wasn’t locked so we just sat in the cab with the doors locked, trembling with fear!
I can tell you for a certainty, if either of us had known how to hotwire a car, we would have been long gone! And we wouldn’t have stopped to open the barbed wire gate either!
We were not hiding from anything though. The truck was an old, early 60’s chevy pick up with and old wooden canopy on it, and we were shaking so hard the whole truck was rattling!
And we were both crying. T wanted to turn on the headlights (the truck was facing the pasture so our backs were now to the fire), I actually told her that if she turned on those lights I would shoot her! I did NOT want to see what made that noise. It all seems rather comical now, but certainly wasn’t at the time!
When our husbands finally showed up, the fire was down to coals, and they got kind of scared because we weren’t in the tent or any where around! They yelled our names but we were too scared to yell back. They finally walked over to the truck which was parked about 20 feet from the tent. We wouldn’t open the doors till they were right there next to the truck.
They were laughing because we wouldn’t get out of the truck because we were so scared. We told them what had happened and course, my brother in law tried to say it was an elk, or a mountain lion, anything but a Sasquatch. But I know what all the bigger animals around here sound like, and believe me, whatever made that sound had to be very big! There was no way he was going to convince me it was an elk or cougar!
We wanted to leave right then, but they finally convinced us to go ahead and spend the night there, after all, we had several guns in the tent with us. But that wasn’t very comforting to either of us.
The next day, we refused to hunt there, so we drove several miles away to hunt.
Both her and my abs were really sore from shaking so hard the night before! I felt like I had done several hundred crunches! All my muscles ached!
Also, later, Dave my husband told me that when he got out to open the gate when they came back, he heard a large limb break up the fence line from where he was. He didn’t mention that the night before since we were already so frightened.
Now before this happened, I wasn’t particularly interested in anything that had to do with Bigfoot. But that was the first thought that popped into my mind when I heard that scream. It was almost like every animal noise I knew went through my mind in a split second and the noise we had just heard didn’t match any animal I knew of!
But that was not the end of Sasquatch at Short Creek Burn!
In 1992, once again, my husband Dave and I, the same brother in law and his (new) wife went to camp at Short Creek Burn.
Only this time we were in travel trailers !
My husband and I had arrived late in the afternoon. We set up camp, built a fire, ate dinner, and were waiting for his brother and sister in law to arrive. They were bringing their own camp trailer up after he got off work, which we knew would be quite late since he was a bar tender.
When it started to get dark, My husband and I went inside and went to bed.
It was still early, just getting dark, but we knew we would need to be up early to hunt for elk.
After we had been in bed a little while, but were not asleep yet, I heard a familiar sound!
NO! Not again I thought!
Yep, it was back, only farther away this time. So not as loud.
I sat up and said….”Did you hear that?”
My husband, in a matter of fact voice replied, “Yes, I heard it!”, almost like he couldn’t believe that he was really hearing it!
I opened the window nearest our heads so we could hear it better. I was not scared this time though. Maybe because my husband was with me, or that we were inside an RV, or because it was farther away, or maybe just because I was older and wiser, but it did not affect me the same as the first time I heard it all those years earlier.
It kept screaming for an hour or so and seemed to move around and come from different directions like it was circling the meadow. Or maybe there was more than one. I couldn’t tell for sure.
Anyway, it finally faded into the distance and we fell asleep. A couple hours later, we woke up when his brother and sister in law arrived, so we got up and visited with them for a little while before going back to bed.
The screams soon started up again but we went back to sleep since they didn’t sound too close!
The next morning I asked my brother and sister in law if they had heard anything the night before. My brother in law said he didn’t hear anything, but my sister in law quickly answered “I heard it!”
I haven’t been camping at Short Creek Burn since then, but in 2017 me & my ex were going to meet up with my daughter and her husband up there to do some squatching, but the road down into the burn itself has been blocked off. And was grown over. Looked like no one has been down there for a long time. We drove on past the burn area on an old overgrown logging road till it was blocked with fallen trees and we had to turn around. We didn’t hear the usual forest noises, birds and small critters rustling the leaves on the forest floor.
It was extremely quiet. But we did hear one bird, or what we assumed was a bird. Although I have never heard a bird like that around here before, but I’m not knowledgeable of all the bird calls around there, so that doesn’t mean much. But it was the only sound we heard and it was reminiscent of the mocking jay in the Hunger Games movies! And very echoey sounding, but not a repeating echo, just eerie sounding. Was it really a bird? Maybe, maybe not.
After my daughter and son-in-law arrived we sat there near the burn listening for anything out of the ordinary. We did a couple of tree knocks and some whoops. We had a parabolic mic with a digital recorder on which we captured a very scary roar on! After that roar, we left the area!”

Qxir writes “No human ever had to fight a dinosaur – but they probably did fight these creatures. The Late Pleistocene to the beginning of the Holocene saw numerous extinctions of predominantly megafaunal (typically defined as having body masses over 44 kilograms (97 lb) animal species (the Pleistocene megafauna), which resulted in a collapse in faunal density and diversity across the globe.
The extinctions during the Late Pleistocene are differentiated from previous extinctions by the widespread absence of ecological succession to replace these extinct megafaunal species, and the regime shift of previously established faunal relationships and habitats as a consequence.
The timing and severity of the extinctions varied by region and are thought to have been driven by varying combinations of human and climatic factors. Human impact on megafauna populations is thought to have been driven by hunting (“overkill”), as well as possibly environmental alteration. The relative importance of human vs climatic factors in the extinctions has been the subject of long-running controversy.
Major extinctions occurred in Australia-New Guinea (Sahul) beginning approximately 50,000 years ago and in the Americas about 13,000 years ago, coinciding in time with the early human migrations into these regions. Extinctions in northern Eurasia were staggered over tens of thousands of years between 50,000 and 10,000 years ago, while extinctions in the Americas were virtually simultaneous, spanning only 3000 years at most. Overall, during Late Pleistocene about 65% of all megafaunal species worldwide became extinct, rising to 72% in North America, 83% in South America and 88% in Australia, with all mammals over 1,000 kilograms (2,200 lb) becoming extinct in Australia and the Americas. Africa, South Asia and Southeast Asia experienced much lower extinctions than other regions.”

I will welcoming Doug back to the show. Doug was on episode 329 discussing his encounter in Colorado. Doug wrote me and said nothing has really happened for 7 years but activity picked up in 2018. I asked him to come on and give us an update.
In episode 329 Doug said as they slept in their tent something walked up and smacked the tent three times.
Here is a portion of the encounter as the third hunter returned to camp and the men were sitting around the fire: “My view of Matt had in the background the tent and a row of trees ten yards beyond it. Daylight was still hanging on, but would slide into dusk within thirty minutes. As I stared at Matt’s face while hearing him elaborate, bipedal movement of a grey form caught my eye. Usually when I see something grey in the forest, it’s what we deer hunters seek.
Immediately my eyes left Matt’s and locked onto a large, broad-backed figure slipping through the trees about 30 yards away. It traveled from right to left, and seemed to be going away from where our tent stood. It was very tall, and its light grey hair was clearly visible. Its hair was all one short length, starting at the top of its head and continuing without break down its neck onto its massive shoulders and back. Seeing its V-shaped physique struck me unusual because normally people up there on the mountain don’t go around shirtless. We wear either vests or jackets while hunting in the high country. This being wore nothing. It was quartering away as it moved between the lodgepole pine trunks, so I never saw its face.
When Matt saw my eyes shift away from his, my head cocked to the side for a better view around him. He stopped talking, and swung around to see what I was looking at. The creature I saw walked upright, unlike the horizontal body orientation a deer or elk would have. It was exactly the same shade of grey as a mature timber buck, which probably helped draw my eye to it. “What the…?”, I muttered. It continued to pass between several trees that were spaced about five feet apart. Then it disappeared into the thick timber heading southwest. “What’s up?”, Matt asked. “I don’t know…follow me”, I blurted.
I jumped up and hustled up a bank, past the tent, and down into the narrow draw toward the woods where I had seen it heading. With Matt behind me, we swung down and around hoping to intercept whatever it was below the patch of forest. We scrambled up a berm onto the ledge where the trees began. At this point we were exactly in its line of travel; probably thirty yards ahead. We moved in to have a look around. After a couple minutes, it was clear that whatever had passed by was now gone. Wow…whatever it was had to have traveled extremely fast to elude us like that! We got over there quickly, and I expected to intercept its path, hoping to get another look at it. We walked slowly all the way up to the very place it had slipped through the trees. Searching the ground for footprints, we found none… just thick forest duff.”

Extreme Mysteries writes “UFO encounters, Bigfoot Sasquatch sightings during the 1970s, and a howling ghost in the woodlands of Miramichi, New Brunswick.”
A Southern Illinois Film Student captured these sounds of two or three massive creatures howling in the night while recording sounds of the forest for a short documentary.
Shawnee National Forest lies between the Mississippi and Ohio rivers, in southern Illinois. Its terrain spans woodlands, hills and lakes. Wildlife includes bald eagles.
The Garden of the Gods wilderness area features ancient sandstone cliffs and formations. Trails include the long River to River Trail and the Rim Rock National Recreation Trail, circling an escarpment. Jackson Falls has steep bluffs and a waterfall.
Rick writes “When I was younger I lived in Mississippi in a very little town called Poplar Creek. Its very remote and there is nothing there but open farm land. I now live in Asheville, NC I sometimes go back to MS to see family from time to time.
When I do go back I always drive past where I use to live and where I first saw a creature. My family had about 80 acres of land most of it was woodland and swamp area. I never saw the creature until I was older at the age of 15. All of my life my Grandfather use to tell me and my brothers about a wild man and woman that lived in the area and was known to have been living in the area many years. I do know that land we had was very old my Grandfathers Grandparents owned the land and it was passed on over the years. If there were any activity going on over the years when I was younger I had no knowledge of any happenings. Everything changed the summer I turned 13.
It was late June and summer vacation was in full effect. Living in this area everyone has a garden of some type. My family’s garden was kind of big because we grew most of our food along with hunting. My Mom and Dad went out of town for a the weekend to visit some of my Dads family. During this time I staid at my Uncles house who also lived on the land we had. That Monday afternoon when my Dad came back home he took a walk in the garden and some plants were torn out of the ground and watermelons were busted open and just left in place but were eaten.
Other veggies were also picked and parts were on the ground not fully eaten also. My Dad was pissed! He called me and my Cousins over to the garden and questioned us about it. We told him no it was not us and that we did not do any of this. My Grandfather saw my Dad getting on to us about this so he came over and saw everything that had happen. I will never forget my Granddaddy face as he said ” It was not the kids. I know who did this”. My Granddaddy told us kids to go play as he explained to my Dad about what had happen. My mom and Uncle grew up on the land so I believe they knew but refused to say anything. Come to find out years before my Granddaddy had problems with the wild man and wild woman getting into his chicken coop until it got to the point he quit raising chickens. My Mom and Dad got married when i was 4 or 5 so he missed out on that time and had no idea that even happened.
After my Dad heard the story he was in shock but did not believe it until the next morning when more watermelons and other fruits were completely gone. Our two apple trees were picked bare and branches were broken along with our peach trees with peaches that were half eaten or were stepped on. My Dad noticed that our black-eyed peas were being picked and eaten as he would find half eaten hulls or just the hulls on the ground.
That night my Dad called his 3 brothers and they came to our house along with my Granddaddy and uncle and they had a meeting in our Livingroom and we the kids had to go play in our rooms. Wes I’m not joking with this my Uncles were locked and loaded Mississippi rednecks were in full effect. LOL.. My Granddad and uncle ( his son) were in the loft of our barn.
Two of my Dads brothers got on top of my Dads work shop and my Dad and his other brother were posted up in the field in the back of his old truck. I do not know what time it was but it was late and guns were going off. I jumped up out of bed and ran to a window to see what was going on. After a bit my Mom was pacing back and forth wondering what had happen. The family walked in and each one was shook up. I think because they saw IT.. They told me to go to bed and don’t come back out. I could hear them talking and one of my Uncles saying This is not true There is no way that is real I cant believe it .. They staid the night and in the morning everyone went into the woods looking for what they may have seen the night before. around 11 am the men came back with a lot of questions on their face. None of them talked about it and I was told to not talk about this ever to no one. From then on there were no more encounters until the spring of 1993.
I was riding the school bus home and was sitting at the back of the bus on the right hand side and my friend Joe was sitting across from me on the left hand side. We passed a bridge that had a small open field on the side of it. This field met the edge of the land my family owned . There it was squatted down drinking water from his hand and in the split 3 seconds Joe and I saw the creature we both turned to each other asking DID YOU SEE THAT! I said what the Hell was that and Joe straight out said Bigfoot!!! a few moments later i was off the bus and was running into tell my Mom. At this time my Dad and Grand Dad had both passed so now this news really shook up my Mom. It was not until a few months later my mother sold the land and we moved away.”
We will wrap up with Timothy Renner to discuss his new book, I Have Never Minded the Loneliness: Hermits and Their Stories.
What compels a person to leave behind society, forsaking family, friends, and the comforts of modern life to live in solitude? The hermits of the 19th and early 20th Centuries are as fascinating as they are mysterious. These enigmatic figures often became the focus of public interest, with newspaper stories turning them into local legends, folk heroes, and symbols of a life apart.
Within these pages, you’ll discover the extraordinary lives of hermits who defied convention: John Stink, rumored to have died and risen again–more than once; William Woodruff, whose long vow of silence followed a broken heart; Brusher Mills, the serpent-hunter who sold his own snake-oil remedies; and Truman “Commodore” Downs, who claimed Mars as his homeland. Meet Adolphe-Julian Fouré, the reclusive priest who carved strange tales into Brittany’s coastal rocks, and Alice Grace, who made her home in an old bacon box, telling fortunes. From William Pester, the desert-dweller who may have inspired Nat King Cole’s Nature Boy, to the Old Leather Man, a wandering enigma clad in patchwork leather, and O.B. Joyful, the hermit some call America’s first hippie–these stories, and many more, reveal the complex lives of individuals who chose to live apart from the world.
From The Shadows writes “This week, Judy joins Shane to share her recent Dogman encounters. Her boyfriend, Brian, joined us on a past episode to share his own terrifying Dogman encounter in the same area as Judy’s incidents. Judy also discusses Brian’s plan for hunting down one of these creatures!”
A listener writes “I’ll go ahead and preface this story with some background information about myself. I am college-educated and currently getting ready to attend Law School. So, I tend not to believe a lot of nonsense, and usually, everything has a logical explanation behind things. This story takes place in 2001 in Ottawa County, Oklahoma.
I was 16 years old. I am 40 now. My three younger sisters and I were coming back from visiting our baby cousin who was recently born. It was about 10 pm driving down the road and headed back home.
We see a figure walking down the side of the road, just casually. I mentioned to my sister in the front seat it was awful late to be walking down a dark road without any type of lights. I slow down as I come up behind him.
He stood about 9 to 10 feet tall with almost a dark fur coat. He slowly turned his head, and he had the evilest yellow eyes I have ever seen. By this time, my younger sisters are in the back seat screaming and crying, saying don’t stop Ernie. I proceed to lock the doors and speed off. To this day we all have the same story. My sister’s age at the time is 15, 8 and 6.”
Lebanon, Oregon, December 31, 1885, Much excitement has been created in the neighborhood of Lebanon, Oregon, recently over the discovery of a wild man in the mountains above that place, who is supposed to be the long lost John Mackentire.
About four years ago Mackentire, of Lebanon, while out hunting in the mountains east of Albany with another man, mysteriously disappeared and no definite trace of him has ever yet been found.
A few days ago a Mr. Fitzgerald and others, while hunting in the vicinity of the butte known as Bald Peter, situated in the Cascades, several miles above any settlement saw a man resembling the long-lost man, entirely destitute of clothing, who had grown as hairy as an animal, and was a complete wild man.
He was eating the raw flesh of a deer when first seen, and they approached within a few yards before he saw them and fled. Isaac Banty saw this man in the same locality about two years ago.
It is believed by many that the unfortunate man who was lost became deranged and has managed to find means of subsistence while wandering about in the mountains, probably finding shelter in some cave. A party of men is being organized to go in search of the man.

Visitors to Cypress Hills Frightened by a Strange Figure. Brooklyn, New York, August 25, 1884. Visitors at Cypress Hills Cemetery and residents in Glendale, East Williamsburg and Fresh Pond, a little town just outside the limits of Brooklyn, have been greatly excited recently by occasional glimpse of a man who is said to frequent the woods in the neighborhood and who roams about in an exceedingly scan costume composed solely of oak leaves.
Efforts have been made to capture the strange individual, but so far they have proven unavailing. The man was last seen on Tuesday evening when Mrs. Robert McKenzie, of No. 208 Twenty-first Street, South Brooklyn, was attracted by a succession of screams and beheld a feeble old woman endeavoring to escape from the strange man. When the aged lady reached Mrs. McKenzie’s side, she said that while sitting at her lot in the cemetery the nude figure approached her by a leaping movement, and made the most frightful grimaces and gesticulated wildly.
The woman gave her name as Mrs. Banfield, of No. 116 Java Street, Greenpoint. Mrs. McKenzie, when she saw the man, brandished a pruning knife over her head and threatened to kill him if he approached any nearer. With a maniacal smile the wild man, as he is called, ran away, shouting some unintelligible gibberish. Supt. John T. Runcle, of the cemetery, says that frequent complaints have been made about disorderly person being seen in the back part of the cemetery. He discredited the wild man story, but stated that very strange stories were always to be heard concerning weird inhabitants of graveyards.
