Arapaho Stories: Our Giant Uncle

Gary Wortman writes “Yufna Soldier Wolf, tribal historian, activist and storyteller tells us how she explains to young tribal members the nature of the being know to Arapahoes as “uncle”. Known to us today in popular parlance as bigfoot or sasquatch, it is a being that is very real to the Arapahoes but occupies both material and spiritual realms so is difficult for non-traditional people to comprehend.”

How can people call the Sasquatch ‘Uncle” when stories also tell that Sasquatch stole, killed and ate women and children. Would there be different types of Sasquatch?
