Two boys walk up on a Sasquatch

Mt Rainier National Park

Location: Washington State, near Mt. Rainier National Park
Date: Early Summer 1980

Witness Observed: On a bright, clear, sunny day, Chris (age 12 at the time) and his cousin Eric (about the same age) went trout fishing. His cousin lived on the opposite side of Kermahan Road. They hiked about 2 miles back through the forest and when they emerged at the bank of the creek Chris said, “Hey look, a bear.” And sitting on the opposite side of the creek (only about 40 feet away) was what first looked like a bear, sitting with its back towards them, rubbing its back on a stump. When Chris said, “Hey look, a bear.” It stood straight up and turned to face the boys. It was about 6-7 feet tall, with about 3 foot wide shoulders. It had medium brown, well-groomed hair. Neither muscles nor genitals were noticed. It had a round head with a round, blonde mane, like a lion. It had blonde, much shorter hair on the face. The face was flat with human-like eyes, human-like flat nose. He could not recall seeing the mouth (when I asked him), most likely due to the hair. The arms were human-like in length, not abnormally long. It definitely had hands. When I asked if he noticed finger nails or claws, Chris said he doesn’t remember. The sighting only lasted about 10-15 seconds and then boys dropped their fishing gear and ran, never ever returning to retrieve their gear.

Chris also added an encounter when he was 18 years old. Late one night while in a tent with his girlfriend, they watch a large hairy silhouette walk between the side of the tent and the fire, and as it walked by, it rubbed its finger across the top of the tent. They left promptly afterwards.

What an awesome picture ! Is that a photo, or a painting? Anyone know? Good encounter stories also, thank you. I camped alone and unarmed for years (50+) and never gave a passing thought to having BF visit, though I was sure they were real, so these camping stories are especially spooky for me. I still camp and roam alone, a lot (ask my old lady, I mean my dear wife) but NEVER without some real firepower, .454 casull, .45-70. Oh, great BF joke!

That’s one crazy mountain ,a lot of things have been reported around this mountain like U.F.O’s ,strange lights, and of course Sasquatch and missing persons cases to name just a few.

Thank you Gabriel H ! Thats exactly what I wanted to know. Kinda reminds me of what northern California looked like when I was a kid, before our air got so dirty.

My dad spent time growing up in Mineral WA and all over Mt.Rainier (1930’s) as a logging railroaders kid. He told us many weird tales of that place. A lot like Shasta stuff- strange lights which he thought was lava activity and gasses; of screaming screeching sounds the Mt. would make (thought it was from earthquake fissures grinding)’ and of the native people telling the crews not to go any farther into the forest than needed or “the boss of the woods” would start taking their wives and kids out of the camp.
Told of picnic group from their camp (don’t know the # of people) going up a trail to see the wildflowers and picnic one day, which was a rare rest day and rarer still, outing. He was too little to go and his mom was camp cook and brothers were on laundry duty so they did not go. His mom had made a lot of fried chicken for the group, along with cornbread , he recalled because it was what they feasted on in the camp that day and being the depression era he said meats other than elk or deer were basically a special Sunday thing, and he and his brothers got to eat their fill! At dusk a group of men went to the trail to call for the group, that should have been in camp hrs. before. They went up the trail and found a small number of the group huddled next to a big boulder, wet and cold!
There’d been no rain that the camp knew of. The folks said the others had run off terrified by something as they set out their picnic goods, and they had all been picking in the wildflowers; when they ran to the site no one was there. They saw them running helter skelter, heard them screaming (all from a distance) and assumed that a bear or bears had taken them.
They said they ran for cover at the lg. boulder and a sudden rain storm hit them with hail and rain the likes they’d never seen, which caused the tracks of all to be washed away. Dad said he knew nothing more about it because he was too young, but from then onward no children were allowed to wander outside the camp boundaries.
I tried to find something on the story but guess it never made the papers- maybe was only a few people missing; fried chicken being set out for the picnic I feel was a significant part of the problem.
