Too Big To Be A Dog

A listener writes “I’ve been listening to your show for a little over a year now and I’ve been going back and forth about sharing my encounter of a creature that crossed the road in front of me in the summer of 2013 or 2014 in Northwest Iowa.

I apologize for not having a more accurate date or year of my encounter but it was such a quick sighting that it really didn’t occur to me at the time what this creature might have been. My sighting occurred in Sac County, IA at nighttime as I was driving on a paved county road. The area I was driving through is very rural, towns are anywhere from 10 to 15 miles apart and residences/farms are generally 2 to 3 miles apart. The stretch of county road I was driving on had a few residential/farm properties, a couple of creeks and mostly corn fields and soybean fields.

As I was driving on this stretch of county road, all of a sudden a creature ran across the road from the East side to the West side. I only saw it for 2 or 3 seconds but it had reddish brown hair, that looked patchy or kind of mangy and the creature looked like it was wet. What stood out about it was that it had a stance like Gollum from lord of the rings or the hobbit movies. It was hunched over and the top of its back was maybe 3 feet off the ground.

I thought it was too big to be a dog but it’s hind legs looked like canine legs, it couldn’t have been a whitetail deer because of the color and the shape of its head. It didn’t look like what I imagined a sasquatch would look like so I don’t know if it was something else. I’ve been thinking about this sighting off and on for the last 8 or 9 years and I’ve never seen anything like it and not sure what to make of it. I love your show and I think you are a person well-versed in this kind of stuff to get an opinion on. I would be very interested to get your opinion on what it could have been.”

What was the actual shape of the head? Did it have a neck, arms, front legs like a dog,? What kind of tail if any? What time of year was it? How long was the hair? Did it run on 2 legs or 4? Were the legs long? How did it move? There’s too much basic information missing
