A listener writes “First and foremost, I’m a highly educated, professional who is scientifically minded and I’m not the kind of person who is easy to convince. Also, I’m an avid outdoorsman who has spent more than 40 years in these woods hunting deer, turkey, hogs and any other wildlife. I debated making this report for some time, but ultimately decided to proceed with the idea that perhaps my report may be a key piece of a larger puzzle.

In 2016, my wife and I purchased 2.5 acres off the beaten path bordering a larger 700 acre cattle ranch which butts up to an extremely rugged and wooded area close to Mark Twain National Park. There are a few homes in our area, all of which sit on multiple, wooded acres.

The first incident / sighting occurred in February of 2017. While building our home, I was living in an RV on our land. In the previous nights, my propane heater had run out of gas leaving me freezing cold. One evening, around 2:00AM I was awake waiting to hear the distinct noise of my heater kicking on at which point, exhaust would shoot out of a vent next to the door in the bedroom where I was sleeping.

While sitting in the dark, I heard the thermostat make its “clicking” noise instantly followed by the sound of my heater starting up. As soon as I heard the heater activate the sound of the exhaust exiting the pipe was clearly heard. At that moment something very large hit or pushed the side of the 29’ camper rocking the entire structure to the point that items fell off my dresser. I had a 9mm and a flashlight in my room. It took me a few minutes to gather myself but I finally opened my door with my gun and light and began to search around my camper. I looked all around my camper but found no indication of anybody. My property is heavily wooded and located on a dead-end gravel road. The ground was frozen solid from and there were still patches of snow scattered. As I searched around the camper I noticed a light behind my camper hovering about 10 feet off the ground. It was light blue and about the size of a softball. I looked behind me to see if one of my neighbors was driving or walking with a light but no one was out. I turned back around and watched this light make its way directly away from me and drift on a straight line off my property and onto the 700 acre farm. As it moved through the trees, I could clearly see branches and trees begin to obscure my view of the light but nothing ever actually moved. After several seconds, the light drifted off the point I could no longer see it.

The second possible sighting occurred in the Summer of 2018. My daughters’ new kitten had gotten out of the house and I was tasked with tracking the critter down. I heard some meowing coming from the area of my brush pile and archery range. My archery range consists of a 4’ long by 3’ tall rubber horse stall mat suspended by chains off the ground about a foot. This is all located on a decline of about 20 degrees. I was panning that area with my flashlight and found the little kitten hiding next to the wood pile in front of the range. As I picked it up I heard a noise behind my target. I raised my light and saw a bright orange/red eyeshine looking directly at me. The eyes were much larger than a deer or coyote. I initially told myself that it was a cow from across the fences. After a brief moment, I realized the eyes were much closer to me than the fence line and way too high to be from a cow. I immediately raised the light, but the eyes were gone and no sounds were made. The next day, I walked back down to the range and did my best to recall the height of the eyes. I had my dad who is 6’4” stand behind the mat for an estimate. He was nowhere near as tall as the eye shine.

In the following years, my wife and I heard independently multiple tree knocks, all coming from the ranch behind us. Most of these knocks were made between 10:00 PM and midnight and in the Summer of 2021. After the 4th or 5th tree knock-like sound, I went to shoot my bow one morning only to find that my 3D buck had been knocked over. This is nothing extraordinary other than the fact that its rack had been pulled off and taken about 20 yards toward the back fence and placed about 8 feet high into a large wild rose bush. I had no explanation for this. At that point, I began to set out trail cameras and various tokens to see if I could get something on camera. I set up a stump and began with fruit or nuts I had at the house. Each morning the food would be gone, but I would have nothing on the cameras. I even went as far as to keep the fruit in those mesh plastic bags and nailed it to the stump. The next morning, the net was torn off and I still had no pictures. I did trial pictures every evening for test and size comparison data, but it never captured what was taking the tokens. After about a week of this, the activity stopped around the cameras and no more tokens were ever taken.

Another incident that I experienced was in August of 2021 about 9:30 at night. I sit on my screened in back deck every night to decompress before I turn in. It’s always quiet and peaceful out here so I was enjoying the quiet when I clearly heard something very large “falling” through the tree limbs. This was quickly followed by one extremely loud thud which was followed by a second thud then the sound of a large rock rolling down the hill. It was clear to me what had just happened. A large rock was thrown from the back fence and struck a large hickory tree located about 15 yards behind my deck. I mow that area weekly so it wasn’t difficult to locate the large rock that I couldn’t mow over. It was the size of a volleyball. This actually scared me and I went inside.

I have had old tools left on top of my woodpile, Sounds of children playing in the woods behind my house, and one evening something slammed into my garage door, just after I shut it behind me. I thought for sure there would be damage due to the extremely violent sounds, but there was none.

On News Day this year, I was sitting on the deck. It was 10:15 in the morning when I heard an extremely loud howl from the Northeast. It startled me as it wasn’t a dog or coyote. A few seconds later another howl came from the Southeast and appeared to be several miles away. At that point, my dog came around to the back, walked toward the wood line growling and let out the most vicious bark I’ve ever heard him make. Instantly, a third howl rang out much louder than the first two and was much closer to us. My dog instantly turned around and jogged onto the deck and sat down beside me.

July 30th I was sitting on the deck before church drinking my coffee when I began to hear loud limb breaks coming from the wood line to the Northeast of my house. It was really early on a Sunday morning so I wasn’t expecting anyone to be up doing yard work. I looked around and didn’t see or hear anybody out and about. About 10 minutes later, I heard a large, heavy thud sound in the lower portion of my property. I waited about 30 minutes and when I hadn’t heard anything else, I walked down to the area. My kid has a playhouse down there so I keep it mowed and trimmed. Sitting in the grass was a rock the size of a baseball.

In addition to all of this, I have captured various strange pictures of orbs on my game camera, all of which I’ve attached to this email.

We don’t know what to make of all of this, but I’d love to discuss my situation with someone who doesn’t think I’m crazy.
