Tonight’s Show: Helicopter Pilot Has An Encounter

A listener writes “I’m a helicopter pilot and I work for a utility company the inspects high tension power lines and does maintenance on those lines. We are oftentimes in very remote areas. I generally have another guy in the aircraft with me as we fly different sections of lines each day.

This happened in the summer of 2017. We were inspecting lines in Northern Utah two summers ago when I saw what I think may have been two or more creatures. It was about 0800 in the morning as we were flying along this valley headed to the section of lines we had for the day. As we neared a clearing the guy flying with me yelled to turn around. I asked why and he explained that he saw two large creatures walking through this clearing. I made a hard right 180 back to the clearing and brought it to a hover just outside the clearing.

I thought maybe he saw elk or maybe a bear and half figured the rotorwash and noise from the aircraft would scare off anything but as we both scanned the area he yelled and pointed, right on the edge of the clearing we both saw two large figures standing upright. Standing about 20 yards on their right were three much smaller ones, all looking up at us as if they were curious. We were at least a good 60 miles into the wilderness and I can’t see a human being that far out as there were no trails lending to that area. I hovered for probably another 3 or 4 minutes when the smaller of the two large ones walked over to the smaller ones and they walked into the trees while the bigger one followed behind them. We continued our day and didn’t really talk about until dinner that night.”

      I agree, it seems three kids is a big family for them, usually only one or two. Also interesting the considerable noise of helicopters did not scare them off. I hope the pilot comes on. I remember one from summer of 2018 that I think Wes posted here of the crop duster in MO that saw deer coming from the woods into the corn at high speed, when this huge Bigfoot he described as Might Joe Young went after them and took one down.

    Too bad they didn’t take their phone out and video it. I know; how many of us would think about that if that happened to us? And if they did take their phone out would they have walked into the quicker?

    Would be interesting to learn if the young were the same size or two the same, reason why is that there has been some information that they have twins often but I can’t remember hearing about triplets! Interesting account and would love to hear more. Thanks

    I’m sure not keen on there being sasquatches in Utah (I guess they are everywhere though.) I live here in Southern Utah, and while there are no real forests (cedar forests, I guess) to speak of in this area of desert, it is vast and lonely with a lot of terrain features to make homes in, innumerable muleys and elk to eat. There are plenty of places for these guys to hang out. I go out on day hikes with my dogs and I don’t know what I’d do if I ran into one so far from home. Makes me just want to stay in my house.

      I know right? I lived in a small town in Prove Canyon area. We’d go up to look for good hunting sites. I encouraged him to leave me by the stream so I could “be alone” in nature! Duh. And I was preggers too. I’d never do that again.

    Wow amazing story I would love for him to come on and tell his account and find out where at in northern Utah he came across these creatures. Because I live here in northern Utah just at the mouth of provo canyon. There’s been a lot of sightings up that canyon.
