The truth about orbs, strange lights and Sasquatch

St. Elmo’s fire is a weather phenomenon in which luminous plasma is created by a coronal discharge from a sharp or pointed object in a strong electric field in the atmosphere (such as those generated by thunderstorms or created by a volcanic eruption).

St. Elmo’s fire is named after St. Erasmus of Formia (also called St. Elmo, one of the two Italian names for St. Erasmus, the other being St. Erasmo), the patron saint of sailors. The phenomenon sometimes appeared on ships at sea during thunderstorms and was regarded by sailors with religious awe for its glowing ball of light, accounting for the name.

Strange balls of light are not only seen out at sea but in the woods.

I don’t think Matt is a skeptic. He’s just objectively addressing possible causal factors, of which there could be any number. The “truth” is we can only speculate.

I’ve experienced St. Elmo’s Fire numerous times. It’s essentially static electricity. Watch a helo land at night with no light source and you can see it glowing green at the ends of the spinning rotors, just before the landing gear make contact.

I’ve also seen it just before an electrical storm (my first time). I was in the field many years ago, as a young Marine, standing next to a HMMWV amongst a field of radio antennas (RC292s – I hated those cursed things) when I noticed all these little pinpoints of light on my sleeves and the brim of the boonie hat I was wearing at the time. I had never seen that before and said something about it, and my squad leader reached out of the Hummer and dragged me inside…about two seconds later lightning struck and it sounded like an artillery round. My Corporal then explained what I had seen and that, although the same as the rotor lights, far more dangerous in that situation.

I’m sure St. Elmo’s Fire may manifest in other ways, but I don’t think it explains orbs/lights in the woods I’ve witnessed or have seen on video. At least not in many cases.

Are these and other “high strangeness” phenomena connected? Well, yeah, in the sense that every being in the Universe is ultimately connected. But the mystery will still persist until we return to whatever Source we’ve come from – I imagine there are more variables than we could wrap our head around in a single lifetime.

    Enjoy, I say.
