Sundays Show – Close up encounter: What questions do you have?

Randy Harrington had one of the best, close up encounters you’ll ever hear. After setting up a fake camp site to attract Bigfoot, Harrington hid in his truck. When the creatures stepped out of the woods and approached the site, it decided to check out the vehicle, where Harrington was hiding with his video camera and a handgun. He said he heard and saw the creatures rummaging through stuff in the back of the truck.

Randy has been studying the behavior of these creatures for many years and has put together a picture of what they do and why. I have to say a lot of what Randy theorizes about their behavior makes a lot of sense. Randy will also be giving us an update on the Falcon project.

Some people have heard Randy’s story before, some have not. What questions would you ask Randy?

      Mattie, I can explain many things about the terror I felt when I realized the size of this thing, and I thought it was coming down the driver side of my truck, Everything I felt was from a physiological standpoint. At the time I wasa firefighter, ( since retired) with lots of fire scene experience as a firefighter, driveroperator and captain……so the ability to calm myself and think clearly and pay attention to details surely helped me the night of my encounter, BUT the bdy will still go into extreme distress when confronted with something you are afraid of or have no experience with…… I felt terror, but no tie missing. But I have no doubt someone without training in stressful situations could easily block out or miss some time as aphysiological response to fear, and have absolutely nothing to do with anything supernatural.     This is going to be great! I want to know about the eyes (how big, round, slanted), and mouth (thin and really wide, or where it lines up with the eyes, thick lips, narrow). I don’t see consistent descriptions and it would be nice to have something to use as a “standard” of some sort. He really thought that “action” through didn’t he. Ha, ha, gotcha! Can’t wait.     1) have you ever heard of them Using Fire ?
    2) Would they not be considered Stronger than We our self’s are ? as are the Primates.
    3) Do they Swim ? I hear of them in the water , Catching Fish . But can they Swim ? Chimpanzee’s can not , no Fatty Layer to keep them afloat. Are the Sasquatch the Same ?
    4) is there any account of them Using Tools ?
    5) If they have Managed to stay out of the Public Eye for so long , How can they Only be an Animal ? They might not have Cell Phones . But do they NEED Them ? No . They are a different Manor of People , but 2 arms , 2 Legs , a head on top the Shoulders . Just like us , but we are not Covered in Hair . I work Outside , & in the Winter Time I grow a Beard just for the Protection against the elements . What would it be to be Covered with Hair ? You would not even NEED Clothes !
    I am down with the Physical aspect of it . I do not think they are from other Planets. If they are in Fact Found , wouldn’t they as Loyd Pye suggest, Be the Pre Humans that we are taught we are Descended from ?

    Never have heard about this encounter before!Did Randy anticipate the Squatch coming to his truck eventually and if so was there food there? So was this a site/area where there previous sightings?Wow am I ever looking forward to this show!!!Can’t wait!!

        Mike B. is right about that. Todd Standing is a fraud. Let me put it this way: The man couldn’t even convince Bobo from Finding Bigfoot, a man with a serious case of Bigfoot-on-the-brain, that his evidence was real. Because it’s THAT bad. Since Todd’s first time in the limelight he’s claimed to have accomplished what no one else in the history of Bigfootery has (less Patterson & Gimlin) and that is obtained clear footage of these creatures. And he purportedly not only did this once but THREE times. And all three times the footage was of only the face. And all three times these “creatures” looked dramatically different. Now, one could argue since there are varying subspecies of Sasquatch that that’s why they all look so different. However, Todd claims that all of these photos and videos where filmed in the same area. If that’s believed to be a fact then Todd not only was lucky enough to capture these elusive creatures on film BUT has just proven that there are at least three clans of different subspecies of Sasquatch living not only in the same region but on the same mountain. The probability of that happening under any circumstances aside from captivity in a zoo with any living animals on earth is nonexistent. Only one mammal is capable of such diversity within one region and that would be Homo sapiens.
        It’s also very suspicious how his videos were shot using a tripod. Imagine for a moment that you’re deep in the wilderness. Miles away from civilization. You’re alone and you’re creeping through the dense undergrowth and rugged outcrops of British Columbia when you come across a sight that until just this second existed only in campfire stories and Native American folklore. Your pulse quickens and you feel as if your heart is going to burst through your ribcage. For now you remain unseen and your mind is racing 1000 miles a second at the possibility of there being more nearby and that your life may be in danger if you’re found out. You are unarmed but you know even if you were that could have little consequence on one of the larger ones and being on the side of a mountain offer

Not even blinking or deviating its gaze from your general direction once. Did you just capture a Sasquatch in a sas-squat taking a dump? Was it spaced out on shrooms? Was it bored and just trying to see how long it could go without blinking? And then when you ARE finally found out you have the frame of mind to turn your camera off before fleeing? Not likely.
          So then what are these things that he filmed? Well, it just so happens that Todd’s girlfriend worked for a special effects company that made things like monsters and masks for movies. Coincidence? Or convenience?

    im on the fence here. questions….
    1.what light source did you use to capture pictures at night?
    2.if audio alone, what did you do to illiminate a bear suspect?
    3.what audio or scent bait did you use to solicit the encounter?

    I’ve always wondered what their eyes look like? Do you they have the whites of the eyes like we do or are they more dark like the eyes of a deer? N did the sasquatch seem at all concerned that he was in the area or did he not really seem bothered by his presence? And also did he seem to have an aggressive demeanor about him or was it simply more of a curiosity thing?

      christopher, The creatures took a while to leave the comfort of the tree’s and enter my camp. They moved with some speed, stooped over wth arms swinging, moving directly into the most suitable spot for stealth. He positioned himself with my truck between him and the only place they could assume someone would be, in my tent. But he did not realize that I was in my truck watching him…not the tent. lol

    Wes, could you have Randy identify his tent maker there, such as bran name, occupancy rating, and the exact size dimensions? As that would better give a more accurate size scale and dimension upon the Sasquatch.

    As well: Randy, when the Sasquatch that is in the Image leaning over the tent backed away, did the creatures eyes uncross when it stepped back before it turned away?

    N did they seem like they came into the camp with a purpose or did they just seem to be there to ransack the place for food? N what did the body language and facial expression of the creature seem to be when he got the close face to face?? Any grunts, growls, bluff charges or lip flip??? N we’re they trying to intimidate him?

    I’d like to know how or why he picked the location for his decoy campsite. Did he pick the area because it was prime Squatch habitat or because of previous interaction with them? How did he set the sight up as far as a strategy on where he thought they might come from, or where he wanted them walk or stand? I know he was armed but at what point would he have protected himself or was there intentions of taking one if the opportunity presented itself?

    Question: Do you think you can kill one and get some physical evidence (blood, tissue, etc.)?

    Is it possible to bait them with food and if so, why not drug one?

    Questions Wes,
    Has Randy ever tried to put a camera or trail cam inside of a cooler and place it out to be noticed by a BF, or he talked about his pick up truck activity, maybe place a trail cam near the end of the tailgait shooting up so the infrared from the cams is not noticed and possibly catch the BF looking down into the bed of the truck like the cooler cam could possibly catch when opened. I would put multiple coolers and multiple cams in the coolers just to make sure. Just an idea ! Thanks Wes looking forward to the show.

    I can address many of your questions on the show. I know what brought them to the place I was camped, but it did not appear to be the foods I had laid out as an offering. The creatures were not willing to step out from behind my truck and go to the food, as this would have put them too close to the tent.

    Yes I have pictures of the 2 creatures from that night……the pictures were taken at other times in the same park, but I am sure it is them, after conferring with other researchers familiar with these particular creatures from that area. The large male is a big red haired fellow. and the young one got captured by a camera I had hidden among camping gear stacked up on a table, with a bait bag of food hanging……got a close up of his head/face, and shoulder….the only thing is, they were washed out white from being an infra red camera….no details, but it is his head looking over the table right into the czmera.

    Wes,
    I would ask about the number of toes ( and fingers) the creatures have, that is if they were observed or tracks were found.
    There has always been varying numbers of toes found in tracks, all the way up to six. The six-toed tracks are of significance as they go back a very long time in history.
    I think it would be useful to be able to identify which category of creature is associated with specific toe counts and track types.

      I saw the hand as it grabbed the side post of my ladder racks….. it was his left hand, with the thumb pointing straight up, did not count the fingers, but there was nothing that would lead me to believe there were not more than 4 fingers on that hand.

    Am wondering about why there are reports of them pushing down a tent, getting into tents and dragging people out of them. I remember the episode where the guy had the roof of his truck smashed down while he was inside it, also.

    What questions do I have?
    Simple.

    I have seen black bear and interacted with many behavioral differentiations. I have been between a black bear and its cub. I have been between a black bear and its food. I have had a black bear in my backyard that was habituated to humans I have been bluff charged by black bear three times throughout my life.
    The only time I was scared to my bones was the time the habituated to humans blackhead bluff charged. I ran like a girl. I did not real fear , meaning I did not have time to deal fear. I just ran like a girl.
    I have felt fear in the bush though weird fear. I have met a grizzly on the trail and felt like “he knows where I am, and I know where he is and we aren’t bothering one another” and passed by with zero incedent.

    My question : how does bear fear differ from Sasquatch fear? (For those who have not had a sighting).

    I am new to the island. I am big on backcountry backpacking. After my few experiences I will never go alone anymore.
    What advice would you give to folks who are backpacking?
    There is advice for hunters, there is advice to hikers. Here on my island there are tons of city folk who wander around in the bush. This is also prevalent to anywhere in North America. What advice would you give for those folks?

    What advice would you give for people who only think that bear and cougar are their only worry? (Not all of us are hunters and Canada has strict gun laws)

    It only makes sense, to think that different creatures have different personalities, just like people and other great apes. An older male will pass on his beliefs and traits, to his young ones, as much as is possible, with him and his mate being their dominant role models. At least it would seem that way, not that I know anything about them. Just trying to help figure why different creatures seem more cautious than others. They probably have varying degrees of encounters with humans, that shapes the way they will investigate and/or interact with people. I’m guessing that one that has had a very negative encounter, like being shot at, will be much more likely to be more aggressive in the future. Or just imagine, one that has maybe seen his/her mate die at the hands of a human, will probably turn into one of those to be feared! I don’t even want to imagine that, that maybe we are responsible for creating the bad ones, but it’s a possibility.

      Elaine, The left hand of the creature grasped the vertical side post of my ladder racks on the driver side rear while I watched in the side mirror of my truck ( drivers seat) his right hand was grasping the cross beam bar that connects the racks across the back of the truck….. I went through a therapy session several years later under hypnosis to try and pull more details from that evening,there was nothing about the hands that seemed out of place. The thumb and finger positions were very similar to human. If there was a longer distance from the the thumb to the forefinger, I could not tell by my brief sighting of him grabbing the post.

    Hi Randy, I herd you speak at the Stilwell OK conference a couple of years ago. I was pretty much spell bound. You speak from the heart. At that time you recounted at encounter while 4 wheeling with friends, and found 2 different rock stacks with lost items (one item was a picture) from your group. My question(s) are, could you describe a rough time line of when the items were lost then found, and the distances traveled. It appears that your group was paced as your 4 wheeled the trails, and do you have any theory of how they knew where to place the rock stack(s) so your group would be sure to find them? You may have explained this at the conference, but my memory isn’t as good as it use to be. Thanks

      Joyce, Yes The rock cairn’s incident……one of the most interesting things I have ever tried to figure out. I am sure it had something to do with my history of going to that area, but it is only conjecture. We arrived late on a Monday night and travelled by ATV to the first campsite ( 10 pm)……after changing campsites every night, we were in another campsite on Thursday, the night before the conference, when the items were placed on the trail for me to find….so 4 days they were missing.

      Joyce, The distance from all the camp sites and the beginning of our trek through the woods that first night was about 5 miles. The items were lost on the trail the first night going in….. I am still amazed by it. Thanks for asking.

    Randy, hope all is well… I have a question about their eye’s, I’ve heard they glow. Not eye shine, but glow with their own internal light. I have read and heard many accounts, but they are all similar but different when it comes to the “eye shine thing”

    Randy, cannot wait to hear the show, question, these creatures are smart and disturbingly sneaky, but how do they avoid so many setups catching them on camera or video, because of the infrared they see ?

      Mark, I cannot possibly tell you why or how they seem to avoid our traps. I can only tell you what I observed and heard that night…and that behavior will give you a glimpse into how they remain so elusive.

        They somehow can see infrared or can hear the mechanisms working. If you want to keep them out of your camp, put some on a tree and aim at your tent. You’ll be worry free all night. I’m not being flippant just honest.

          Tristene, I have had some luck with a game cam hiding it in a pile of camping supplies in the campsite of my encounter, caught a close up head and then a shoulder and arm pit as it stood up after approaching the table down low ( either crawling, or in 4×4 mode I assume) Anyways, if you have ever listened to the Sierra sounds story, from the late 60’s and early 70’s, they too tried to use camera traps, and they did not have the super sensitive infra-red cameras we have today, They just used simple push button cameras with string trigger traps….To make a long story short, they had the same issues we currently have, avoidance as well as thhe camera’s destroyed, so there has to be something else besides the infra red lights, or even the electronics in the cameras today, or it would not have happened back then with very simple camera, we are starting to record clicks and pops at a different frequency range, and we hear them often enough to know it is coming from our target species, and it would indicate a simple sonar echo location being used by them, they would immediately hear the echo off a plastic camera as it sits against soft bark of a tree….at least that is starting to be the most logical assumption in light of the clicks we are recording…Thanks.

    How about asking a detailed description of the face and body. Eye size and color, brow ridge, nose, mouth, lips, jaw and color of skin. Neck, shoulder width, arm length, waist size, legs and an estimate of weight. I have never seen one before, so a detailed description would help paint the picture in my mind. Did it look like Patty?       Russell, The full moon was shining behind the creature as he moved toward my position. When he stood at his full height at the back corner of my truck he was a neck and head taller than my ladder racks. I measured them from the ground at 7 ft. So this male creature was about 8 to 8 and 1/2 feet tall. I guesstimated his weight at least 6 to 800lbs. Based on how far my truck sank down when he climbed on. I put some hefty sized men on my bumper to try to gauge what amount of weight would sink the back end as much as it did that night. Sometime after that I also found that a leaf spring on both sides of my rear wheels was busted. The tongue weight has a limit of 500 lbs as listed on my bumper, so I can only assume he was way over that limit and cracked the leaf springs on both sides. He looked like an ape in his movements up until he was standing next to my truck, where he straitened up as tall and straight as you please.

        Hey Randy, I don’t know what kind or how big your truck is but 600-800 lbs shouldn’t break your leaf springs especially if you have a full size pick-up. I’ve loaded up my frontier with 1000 or better and went down the road with it and it’s by no means a beefy truck. I think Big Red is heavier than you think. If he broke your springs just by getting on the back of your truck, that boy was really big. I think I saw on some documentary that they estimated Patty to weigh about 700 lbs from the dimensions they gave her on the P/G film and they estimated her at around 7’2″. I think your Big Red is significantly larger if he’s 8’+. Anyway, what kind of truck do you have?

    Wes and Randy…Sunday’s show…sounds amazing!!! Luv reading questions and answers. This show will be amazing and I cannot wait. Always wanted a sighting but now only if Squatch didn’t see me and I could merely validate my lifelong opinion they are real. I really wonder about the Missing 411 cases since being made aware of the possibility of cannibalism and abducting people. The accounts of their savagery in killing and devouring prey is a far cry from the big guy I thought was hiding in the forest eating fish and vegetation. Thanks Wes for the time you devote to SC. You have really done an amazing job on your own and I like the show so much. I love your time with Woody but he’s really busy with the new baby. Maybe he can join you again in the future. For now it gets better each week. Can’t wait for the TX trip. But until then Randy will entertain and terrify us on Sunday!! Rock on Dude!!

      Phyllis, I am pretty sure many of the missing 411 casas are bigfoot related, All because of a chance conversation I had with a friend who contacted me on FB and said his mom had a sighting up in Idaho years ago, I went to church with these friends as a youngster many years ago, well I contacted her and she is in her 70’s, but she told e all about what happened to her, it was in the late 60’s outside of Challis Idaho, they were at a family cabin and was out fishing in a stream, she was sitting with her back to the tree line while watching her husband and son fish…se said se heard a slight shuffle behind her, and turned to look, and there was this thing only about 3 feet from her with a bush parted and was looking at her, she said it was something between a man and a gorilla, and it blinked, she blinked and screamed and ran down the embankment and crossed the strem to her husband, and she was hysterical….when they went back, of course it was gone, But I can’t understand why the bigfoot would need to slip that close up behind her unless it had bad intentions…..and her son and husband was just down at the water….so a few seconds longer without her turning around could have ended up being another missing 411 story, where she went missing while in view of other people….. so I believe because of her telling me this, that it is happening this way with others.       Bobby, I have had one instance 8 miles west of Honobia on a logging road with my wife and 2 daughters, it was a response to my own tree knock, about 50 yards down in a gulley from the road we were on, it responded in just a manner of seconds with it’s reply knock…so at least in that instance, it was pre- armed with a stick.

      Bobby, I was just going over the questions from this show, and I have an answer for you in regards to these creatures keeping a club close by at times, I was just up in the Blue mountains of Walla Walla ( Paul Freeman bigfoot locations)….anyways, I recorded several nights of tree knocks on a ridge above me while I camped, and One of my recordings is of a club or stick breaking when it struck the tree, it either vibrates out of the creatures hand or it breaks, and you can hear the club/stick clattering down against the wood as it falls….so pretty fantastic catch !!!!

    Randy, do you think that human pheromones, would be a better attractant then the gorilla, that most researcher uses. A lady and I had a very clost sighting and it was a female. While we were at Okmulgee Lake back in 1979.

    I will answer the last few questions in this one reply, James, I have only used a Pharmone chip once, it was used but still had some stink to it….did not have any success with it so I don’t know if a fresh one would have worked or not. I once took a bunch of dirty laundry from my wife’s and teenage daughters clothes hamper and hung them all up around in the trees and brush around my campsite in an active area…I also had my wife supply me with her urine in a jar during her menstruel cycle…..I placed urine soaked cotton balls all around another campsite I had….those techniques did not produce any more results that just regular camping, but maybe it could if tried on a more regular basis.
    Jeven, the best advice I can give you is to get a good parabolic mic. One that you can lay outside your tent with the cord running inside the tent with the headset or earplugs for you to listen. That is the one piece of equipment that produces results, better if you have one you can plug a recorder into to record what you hear…then get in the tent at darktime, and learn to GET QUIET…just lay quietly and listen…..they will come snooping around, and you will learn to understand what you are listening for, small rocks hitting your tent are an easy indicator that they are around. I have experimented in many ways, once I took a tent and a recorder several miles back into a mountain logging road, about 10 pm. I set the tent up back in the woods and left a small light and a recorder laying on the floor……..their behaviors towards tents are very consistent. My recorder picked up their movement about 30 minutes after I left….they start creeping around, making noises, then a few rocks get tossed at the tent…..and in this particular case I had what we call ” A run by” that is where one of these things sprints by the tent and and the recording is awesome… I heard a researcher from Colorado explain the same scenario while he was in a tent, he called it a ” run by” so now I know that is a consistent behavior like rock throwing and tree knocks……good luck.
    John, my back up plan is a bright light or camera…….there is no other better deterant than those two items……and if you are wrong, you will have a great sighting or get one on film…..LOL
