A listener writes “I lived in Huntsville Alabama for most of my life back in the early 90s. I played in a band for about 9 years Me and my band decided one weekend to go on a camping trip and we went up to a place that people don’t normally go.

We used to go up there and have BB gun wars and while we were up there something came up the back side of the mountain which there’s no one that lives over there except for down in the valley and it would be one heck of a trip up the side of that mountain.

We heard it coming we couldn’t see it but it was definitely on two feet and it got to just Within the sight of us I guess where we couldn’t see it and it started just circling the camp it did it for about 45 minutes. We’d only been up there for about an hour and a half. We loaded our stuff and left we didn’t want to stay up there anymore all of us felt very uneasy wasn’t normal at all on the way up the mountain it was breaking branches and we just thought it was a deer at first but there’s not a lot of big deer up there in North Alabama not like out here in Washington which is where I live now I live up in Snohomish County just north of Seattle.

There was another time where me and the other guitar player in the band Carlos, we’re up at the Powerline Trail waiting up there for a bunch of other friends to show up. this was up on top of the same line of mountains but not in the same spot. It was very dark up there there was nothing but Moonlight we hadn’t started building a fire. Me and Carlos were sitting in the car he was looking down in his lap he was actually rolling a joint on a frisbee. We were listening to a new heavy metal album that had come out.

I had my window rolled down he had his window rolled down cuz it was hot, it was the summer and it’s very hot in the South during the summer we had turn the car around facing the way you came in so we can see headlights coming through the woods well there was a place where a Big Pine branch was hanging out into the trail, you always had to drive around it. I was just looking down the trail just looking into the woods and there was enough Moonlight to where you could see the Trail because it did not have grass or anything on it.

I saw something come out from the left to the right took about two steps it was very big it was probably I wouldn’t say 8 feet tall but at least be 7 ft. and at first I thought I was seeing something and I didn’t even say anything to Carlos and then as it walked across the path the branch that was hanging out across the road pulled back and swung that’s when I knew I had seen something and I looked at Carlos I said did you just see that and he did not see it I was so mad because it freaked me out. That part of the mountain has always had a very weird reputation anything from devil worship to murders up there. I’m 49 and we always went out never hung out at the house we are always in the woods or down at the river. even if you don’t use my encounters I would still like to hear back from you about where some of these Alabama encounters have been whether they’ve been Northern or Southern or middle of Alabama.”
