So loud I felt it in my chest

A listener writes “Two of my friends and I went to stay up at a cabin near Helen Georgia in 2013 in early spring. There were a few other cabins within a mile of us but they were pretty spaced out on this specific side of the mountain.

I’ve always believed in Bigfoot ever since I was a child so this was an opportunity for me to try a few things that I had seen on these shows growing up. I tried wood knocks and whistles with no response. I had brought a home made boom box with me as well, subwoofer and all. So I thought why don’t I look up a video of know Bigfoot sounds that others recorded and blast a couple of these calls down into the valley of this mountain side. I was standing on the deck of our three story cabin aiming this call from the main door onto the patio which was the second story on the mountain side of the cabin but the floor you’d enter when coming in on the road side of the cabin. So I started the blasts pretty loud from the box and wasn’t hearing anything back.

I figured I’d just let all these different sounds play to see if something got a response. Nothing had happened through most of the video and I figured I wasn’t going to get anything back. Then all of a sudden a call played that was a deep moan, scream and something made the same sound right back at me. Whatever it was was close enough to make the same sound so loud I felt it in my chest. I immediately fell backwards into the cabin over the boom box. I kicked the door shut, crawled behind it, and locked it. As I fell the box unplugged from my phone and so the sounds stopped playing. Wes, I have never experienced that kind of fear in my entire life. I grew up here in Florida and I’ve been stalked by a bobcat making those infamous screams they do and this was nothing I’d ever felt before. My friends ran up from the basement and asked me what the heck happened and when I asked them they admitted one of those calls was much louder than the others and seemed like the sound was pointed at us instead of out down the mountain side.

I am 6′ 2″ and at the time I was 220 pounds so not much scared me. But my friends told me I looked like a ghost. To this day I can’t find that playlist on YouTube of those calls. Though I was recently back up in that area with my family and I refused to be outside alone at night. I told my best friend who had missed the trip but the and the other two friends I was with are the only people I told in all these years until my step daughters asked me the question. And honestly, I could have probably rationalized it by now. But when I popped my head up over the door to see if there was anything outside that cabin I could see in the dark of night I realized every single cabin within a mile of us had their porch lights on. This was at 1am in the morning. There wasn’t a cabin light I could see when I started these calls. That’s when I realized I was not the only one who heard that response. It was loud enough that almost every cabin down the side of that mountain had heard it too.

I absolutely love your show Wes and I can’t thank you enough for what you’re doing for all these people scared or confused in what happened to them. And encouraging them to come forward and talk about these experiences with listeners who won’t ever judge them for what they say on the show. Keep up the amazing work and I’ll keep listening to every single episode. Many thanks!”
