The YouTuber says “This is a recording I made last year in the Sierra Nevada Mountains north of Truckee, California.
We were out 3 nights and drove to this lake edge just before 1:00 a.m. After waiting quietly for 5 to 10 minutes, we did one wood knock. The sounds you hear were an immediate reply that wood knock.”

I live in the high sierras and these are coyotes
Jerry W
Yep, yotes, although in the middle there was a different yell that sounded further away and deeper.

Does anyone know of any sights outside of the BFRO data base in the Grass Valley/Nevada City area anything near Nevada County California? I read one on this sight but am curious if there are more.

Coyote plain n simple.
Martin Z
This sounds too deep to be coyotes. Coyotes make a higher pitch howl and shrill sounds.

I live very near a low place in a large pasture where coyotes thrive and I KNOW one thing…those were not coyotes. Much different. When a train goes by you should hear them on a quiet night. Much higher tones than the above sounds. Totally different howl from squatch.

Do coyotes sound different up there than they do in the south? Cause I’ve never heard a coyote sound like that
