SC EP:614 A Creature Interrupts The Hunt

We speak to Devin, Todd and Mason from New York. Devin writes, “I was using my hen call and I was getting no response from anything it was pin drop quiet with a slight fall breeze every now and again would pick up. I came to the edge and I could see the shelf and it was empty no turkey’s so I went down to see if I could find a track. Once I popped over the edge it hit me the feeling of like I am being watched looking for tracks.

I ignored it thinking it was just a squirrel or something so I ignored it continuing my investigation for the disappearing Turkey. I looked for about 10 minutes duck walking around looking for tracks when I stood up next to this tree looking down into the ravine with my gun propped on my boot like Daniel Boone would with his Kentucky long rifle. This overwhelming feeling like I was being watched was still in the back of my head when my brain said “TURN AROUND NOW!” so I did and as I turned from the corner of my eye I saw a massive red, brown auburn blur retreat from the edge which I just dropped down from.

My first though was oh it was a deer but then it occurred to me why didn’t I hear leaves crunching or it running through branches? So I said maybe it was my eyes playing with me so I tried to recreate the “blur” and I couldn’t. I will not lie when I say at 17 in the woods with the cannon I was carrying at this moment I was scared shi#less. My heart was racing and the adrenaline kicked in. I raised that shotgun to my shoulder and I started walking back along this shelf heading south back to the camper because it came right out to the driveway within eye site of our camper.”

He went on to say “A lot has happened, we returned to the area and this thing or things are still in the area. I have found a lot of strange structures what appear to be hunting blinds. My friend was roared at.”

These guys did a great job retelling their experience. Would love for them to come back.

They also gave me a new podcast idea…..we need a call in ‘Sasquatch Shrink’ (psychiatrist, counselor) …..
Is there a Dr. in the house that needs a side gig? ?

      Thanks all, good show

These guys are a “hoot”. Listening. Enjoying & laughing ’cause these guys entertaining… ‘hearing a bigger chicken.’

Oh, you don’t have to call out Canadian Gesse in Washington State. These birds never leave. They’re spoiled and sometimes chase me when I go for walks. We joke. When we see the geese fly by we say there they go, flying to the next town over so they can fly back.

      • Mary D

No, I believe that Canada geese fly to Washington DC for the day before they fly back to Washington state. You know that scene in “Forest Gump” where Jenny and Forest embrace in the reflecting pool at the Washington Monument? That scene makes me cringe, knowing the vast amount of Canada goose poop that surrounds and comprises that pool. It’s most unpleasant. Geese–they are everywhere, especially during tourist season.

They are a big nuisance in the city of Dayton also. They take over every pond in the Greater Dayton area, I am 25 miles NW. Best to have a large dog to keep these buggers away.

          • m99

All I know is they are mean sometimes. I had a particulare daily walking spot that turned into a running spot because they, the whole lot of them, chased after me. They are huge too.

It is hard to listen to a story told by three people.
The older gentleman seems to have difficulty staying on track. .
      Made it half way through.
Too bad. It does sound like it was interesting.
      Thanks anyway.

      • m99

Yes, and you said it best. I didn’t listen to the whole thing either. I felt as though it was a panel discussion with a group of hired actors and a comedian. I wanted to hear from all of the guys but dad monopolized the conversation. I don’t know if I’ll listen to the second part. Sorry Wes.

Great show Wes! Thanks guys for telling all of us about your encounters!! I used to live in Bradford, Pa. I can relate to those areas you are talking about. YEEEEEEEE HAWWWWWWW!!!!

  2. Janice K

Nice show! Makes me want to go bird hunting. Miss it! I had a giant light float over my back woods. It was silent. I had gone out to star gaze about 11 PM. I was looking at the stars and noticed it as I glanced down to the tree tops. We have a 22 acre wood outback. The trees are tall, but close to the deck, the yard slopes down steeply so on the deck I am quite high up. There it was, it had to be the size of a basketball or bigger. I looked at it in awe. What is that I thought. It just disappeared after a few minutes. I dont know how to explain that. It was there and then gone. Just very weird.

When these guests and others described the rapid fire wood knocks they heard as a sound they could not replicate I think they are really hearing the very loud and very, very fast drumming of pilleated woodpeckers. Just something to consider.

  4. rosalyn b

That rapid fire knock was for sure a pileated woodpecker. I’m always suspect when guests describe details about everything but the encounter. Devin seemed to enjoy just talking and monopolizing. Wes seemed to try to keep him on track but it seemed hard. I hope there isn’t a second part to this.

    • Todd S

I can see why one would dismiss as Palliated Woodpecker. They quite large and peck rapidly. Yes, Sound was like that but not loud or intense enough . However, at home we see and hear them frequently in swamp we hunt outback. This was unbelievably loud. Hit the right tree with that right log/stick as loud as possible. But it’s impossible to get volume and speed. We’ve tried over and over.
      Can’t duplicate sound.
Yeah we were all nervous. People constantly distracting me. Someone spilled full bottle of gator aid all over my notes with talking points. Felt like it was going down the drain. I felt we needed to step up the pace. So I had to kick it into gear and wing it….with out my notes. 5 years ago. A lot happened. Felt it was important to keep time line together. Since much was happening at same time to each of us. This was totally off the cuff only moments after long stressful day at work. I literally walked in door when Wes called. Mason arrived from work shortly after. There was no retakes or do overs. Yes, we play hard. But we do love to make each other laugh. We can be very animated when together. This was first time in long time the 3 of us been together. Devin just returned home from his tour with the Marines. We’ve wanted to do this when all of us we’re together again. And this is exactly why Witnesses don’t share their experiences.
      Regretfully yours.

I THOUGHT THE 3 OF YOU WERE PERFECT! AND AS THE FATHER OF THE 2 BOYS, I COULD HEAR THE RESPECT THEY BOTH HAD FOR YOU! ITS REFRESHING. THIS HAD TO BE ONE OF MY FAVORITE SHOWS EVER.
PLEASE DONT LET THE NEGATIVE PEOPLE GET TO YOU, THAT RUINS IT FOR THE REST OF US THAT HAVE NOTHING BUT APPRECIATION TO ALL 3 OF YOU.
AS THEIR FATHER, YOU ARE SUPPOSE TO TAKE CONTROL AND I TOTALLY GET WHY YOU DID, YOU KEPT THE SHOW GOING. AS THE 3 OF YOU TALKED, I COULD PUCTURE EXACTLY WHAT EACH OF YOU EXPERIENCED!!! I THOUGHT THE SHOW WAS REALLY REALLY AWESOME. NOT ONE NEGATIVE THOUGHT EVER ENTERED MY MIND. I WAS HOOKED FROM THE MOMENT THE 3 OF YOU BEGAN TO TELL YOUR ENCOUNTER,
I CAN NOT WAIT FOR PART 2…
THANK YOU SIR, AND YOUR 2 GREAT BOYS ,(MEN REALLY)

In the early years of this century I use to travel west to east through NY on the 86 to avoid the tolls of the 90, but was rewarded with beautiful forest and mountains. A couple of times coming back I would travel the 219 to get to Pittsburgh. I had a feeling before hand this action was going to take place around the Allegheny National Forest. Seems to me to be a beautiful place to live.

  5. Charles R

Thanks Todd, Mason, and Devin. Really enjoyed your group and am happy that your guys are going to stay out there and keep looking.
Maybe the Bigfoot klan will get accustomed to you and more neat behavior will be rewarded and hopefully some more sightings. Best of luck. As for the disappearing I will tell of what Kevin Laing said about his Bigfoot best friend Glagg. There favorite game to play was hide and seek. Glagg always won as he was almost impossible to find, but could sniff Kevin out in seconds. They use to go on long hikes together with Glagg usually leading. Kevin said he could blend in with the surroundings so well that Kevin often ran into him by accident, however he said Glagg never really disappeared. They can just blend into the forest so well.

Look forward to hearing part 2.

Could you imagine seeing these 3 guys in the woods ? It would be a slapstick comedy show for sure. You can imagine these guys slapping each other, one stops the others run into him, poking each other in the ribs. Beating on trees. The crazy sounds they would make. I’d love to be in a tree watching them..

    • Todd S

Lol, we do have serious times. The 3 of us work hard, play hard and enjoy making each other laugh. But when chips come down we have each other’s back and are a force to be reckoned with. Typically I do most the eye poking but get hit in the face with cream pie!

  7. Tracy L

Please make sure that the next time you have them on you ask them about the UFO encounter that your guest mentioned towards the very end. I loved having all the witnesses on together where they could ask each other if they remembered such & such, etc. Great program.

  8. Matthew W

Great NY show Wes, thank you. New York, especially Allegheney County is very rural with tons of places to hunt or look for Bigfoot, without having to pay to play. I don’t understand why he paid? I guess because he could. In NY it is not legal to hunt from a motorized vehicle or to hunt after sunset.

  9. Dimitri K

Thanks for sharing your story Todd. I enjoyed the episode the way it was. Not all interviews are the same, so get over it people. Haters gonna hate so don’t sweat it Todd, you can’t please everyone, nor should you have to try to. I don’t and it makes life more pleasant for me anyways.
    ?

  10. Tyler S

Man it is really rare that I don’t enjoy a episode but these guys were too much I couldn’t stand listening to this just sounded like pure bs they are just reiterating past episodes

  11. Kathy B

Thank you for this interesting show.
How scary for Devin to have this huge thing right behind him. I like the fact that you all continue to go out and enjoy yourselves. But you go to the same place….are you hunting or wishing to actually see Sasquatch!
Todd I found it interesting that when you were screamed at and felt the scream through the machine you were sitting in that, I believe it was Mason, did not hear anything. That is food for thought, that the scream was directed at you only….and to mentally hear ( if he wanted you dead he could have already gotten you) Looking forward to hearing more events from you. Stay safe when out.
