SC EP:463 Homeland Security Sasquatch Expedition

Tonight I will be speaking to two guests. Brent writes “Hey Wes! My name is brent and I live out in banks, Oregon. A friend and I had an experience a couple years ago up in Washington. Here is a copy of what I first wrote down while it was fresh. I have attached the recording and picture

In the recording you will hear me trying to calm down my dog and get him to stay. Then I walk a short distance down the gravel road in the dark with no flashlight (crazy in retrospect) I stop and have my cell with the mic end pointed in the general direction of the initial screams. It’s a poor recording at best. But during most of it in the back ground you can hear the screams. In real life they started out as guttural grumpy ape sounds and then would escalate to high pitched screams and then back to guttural huffing and puffing from the “main one” . The responses were similar but seemed more like a “I’m in position chase them this way” from the others.

Me and a friend recently went to forlorn lakes on 9/22 for a camping trip. We arrived at approximately 7pm.

At approximately 1am we heard a very loud scream. There were 2 or 3 then another one answered back. It sounded like it was near the other side of the small lake we were camping at. Similar but slightly different tone. Then there were multiple answers back. I thought there were possibly 3 answers back to the first scream that was first and closest. My friend had better hearing and he thinks possibly 4. So that’s potentially 4 – 5 total. This went on for about 20 – 30 minutes. I have a German Shepard/wolf dog. He was whining, scared and trying to get as close to me as possible. When I put my hand on him his heart it was beating very rapidly. I have never seen him act like this before. And me and my friend were shaking uncontrollably. He asked if I could record it with my phone. After retrieving my phone from my van I turned on the voice recorder. And walked towards the first and closest screams. I got 2 minutes of recording, but as soon as I got down the road towards the main entrance it stopped. And the whole forest was completely quiet. We both slept in our vehicles that night.

The next day I walked completely around the lake. I found a fresh set of elk tracks cutting across the edge of the lake where the screams were coming from. They were in a tight formation. almost single file. It read obvious that they were at a full run by the way that the softer mud was very churned up. And were not there for a drink. I triangulate the direction and went to the main road where I thought they were coming from. When I reached the swath of forest between the lake and road my dog went to a spot and started sniffing. When I checked it out there was a foot print that I would of never found if he hadn’t pointed it out. It was on the upside of the ditch headed in the same direction a the elk tracks. The dirt was already compacted, but I could clearly see a big toe print and heal. It was still early in the day and you could see the fresh moist dirt that was disturbed compared to the sun baked surround. I snapped a pic with my phone and ran back to camp. After that we decided to leave. I camp on average 30 days a year. And Indian heaven and forlorn lakes are one of my favorite spots. I have never heard anything like this before or been more scared in my life. I googled big foot /forlorn lakes when I got back and bfro report #26572 is very similar. same time of year/ conditions. The main difference is these screams were very close. I would guess about a block away. And the responses were about 2/3 blocks away. Also I feel like maybe they were hunting the elk. And that the loudest one was driving then towards the others and using the lake as a natural barrier to funnel them to the others waiting to ambush. Why would they make do much noise exposing their present and location? My only guess is to scare us away or hunting… Thanks

Since I wrote this I have read many stories and listened to most of you pod cast. It was hard at first to listen to them, but but I feel as time goes on I have less ptsd about the situation. And I can really relate to you last couple episodes. Also now that I am more educated on the subject I realize there have probably been multiple times I have been in close proximity to them and being watched.

Would love to grab a beer and talk about this in person some time

I will be attending the conference in Kennewick and have tickets to Bobs dinner. With any luck I will be at you table

Hope your well!”

      Wes:
You’ve been saying for months that you would have an episode about what YOU THINK these things are.
I think I already know, and pretty mucch agree with, what you think.
So – when do we all get to hear?

  1. Frank D

Love the shows Wes, long time paid member. I don’t want to upset anyone, but, would it be possible to know what time the audio recordings of bigfoot noises start and end.

It makes it difficult to listen to the shows at night, my dog starts barking like crazy when he hears all the bigfoot noises when the recordings are played.

Again, not trying to rain on anyone’s parade or be a stick in the mud LOL

    God bless 🙂

  2. Nigel D

Curious the tale of the Homeland Security dude. Interesting he compared camouflage abilities with Cephalopods. The mystery keeps getting deeper and weirder…..

  3. Graden Q

Hey guys, love the show. Just curious though why this recording was sounding like he was rolling around on the ground? It was so loud and hard to discern the howling, but good audio for the small portion that was decent…

  4. Janetta V

Two great guests. The recorded sounds were great and the next guest hearing sounds so close to him, but not seeing a thing was very mysterious. Interdemensional? Yes maybe they are. For me if you believe in the bible, which I wholeheartedly do, then you must know some things are other worldly. And also for me evolution does not exist. I am a creationist. Thanks Wes and guests.

Wes that was one of the best shows!!! Geeeez, I thought I was in the moors walking into the scene of American werewolf in Loudon. Ha! Seriously, creepy! He did a great job recording those screams. Second encounter, I’ve been on the edge of what I believe… you can’t chase something that doesn’t want to be found. ?Thank you!!!

  6. Pat T

Good job Wes, loved your guests!, you know these pranks are gonna come back and bite you for sure. Let us know when it happens. Your first guest captured some great vocals! Scary stuff

  7. pam

nice! sounds like homeland sec. knows exactly what is happening;wonder if these guys’ bosses knew they used their official vehiclrs, equipment on bigfoot experiences! Uh uh!

  8. Rick C

Fascinated about this Expedition. I wonder exactly what category of Federal Employees these were? What exactly do they know and do they have associates who know more? These are the types of shows I live for..

  9. Amy H

Forlorn lakes! I’ve camped there a few times. Sasquatch is around there I am 100% certain.
I did one time, in my naivety, do some wood knocks there. I scared myself so bad that I won’t do them anywhere again. Peterson prairie is not far from that CG and they are there also. I recently camped at trillium CG in the same vicinity.
Mountain Adams seems, at least from my experience, to be a hotbed.
I’m surprised he could even sleep after hearing those vocals! I would have laid there all night frozen in fear ( as I have several times before).
    Thanks for sharing….. I think?

I’ve heard the recording sound. In late 90’s early 2k’s I actually walked or drove clients to their deerstand. I would always sit on a stand where someone had to pass me going or coming. More than once I physically climbed down my stand 14’ up to look for “poachers” on a locked gated 2100 acre tract that had 2 miles of river frontage. Heard a “conversation” once. Definite instructions and definite acknowledgement. Couldn’t understand a word. That was one time. Huge limb breaking in dead calm wind that sounded like rifle report and literally someone throwing a coke machine from 70’ up out of an oak…And the ground shaking when it hit. All were get down go looks because I thought they were poachers that some how snuck on property. I’ve since just stayed on ground once I have people on stands. I never really hundred to shoot but to look. Since then the guys I take hunting every years have come to be knowers not just believers. They got the up close and personal mgm Lion/ t-Rex roar from 10’. Three growls preceded so it’s not like (big George) he didn’t warn them. Their faces and eyes told that story plus they didn’t hunt that morning after that and they were so pumped prior to getting roared at .. spoke volumes. Happened just prior to dawn on way to stands. They came back to cabin quickly.

The first guest who is playing the laughing noises? We hear those all the time right near our house and it turns out it’s porcupines in heat. They sound very similar to humans. We proved it by going down stairs out the door and into the woods and out came the porcupine whimpering and screaming

As for the scammers who try to tell you your card was used? You should play along with it and ask them how they want you to make up for it and then if they ask you to send payment somewhere make a note of it and turn the suckers in !

  12. Philip V

Umatilla definately a fox…we had a pair generating same sound outside our bedroom window just a week ago…very impressive for such a small animal. Now if u want to hear a real bigfoot sound look up the ohio howl…I encountered it while deer hunting years ago….so intense it was bone ratteling.

  13. Wolf

As others have said, the Umatilla sounds like a fox to me too.
I’ve seen them all my life but had never heard one until about 12 months ago when we started hearing them at night on our property… freaked us out for a while til we googled fox sounds.
A Hairy bloke has huge lung capacity. His noises would last a lot longer.

  14. John P

I totally agree with Dave the human species is not from here we never were, we don’t belong here we’re The Strangers…. awesome showest keep up the good work!

I have not read any of the responses as yet.
I listened to both sound recordings. It is strong in my mind that this persons is so very very different than the one Wes provided.
The first one is truly a scream of consistent volume and “phrase”…meaning it did not go up and down like laughing or worbling.
The second one Wes provided did sound like there could have been laughing or “yakking” in it. I have heard recordings where the BF is mimicking the coyote, and I have also heard on these sites plain coyote singing.

All but the last 30 years (here in Alaska) I lived in my birthplace in the Sierras and hiked, hunted and camped in the most remote and high places while living at around 3500 ft elevation. I have listened to coyotes in chorus and singly and they will sound like the recording Wes provided, but I have also heard the “fake” ones too. Coyotes will cackle and yakkle until their voice kinda “breaks” and sometimes it sounds a bit like a roaring sound, like howling but not for a long one.

I’ve heard single coyotes do that and groups. I imagine they follow the BF around for scraps so may be why they are often seen when BF’s are spotted. Its no different then Arctic foxes following Polar Bears around; or ravens magpies and crows following wolves or any other predator for that matter.
Once I spent the night in a sleeping bag under the wing of a bush plane next to the shore of Pillsbury Lake in California and a large group of Coyotes started singing and calling coming closer and closer until quite close, surrounding us. It was wonderful and I could hear distinct animals as they joined in with the typical yak yak yaks breaking into their version of a howl and trailing off into the yak barkings. This was in the 80’s before I had realizations of BFs…now I wonder if IT was with them.

Its the same general area my dad and I saw the one print up the S. Rice Fork River that dumps into the lake at the south end, that I didn’t realize was a BF print until a few years ago after seeing thousands of Brown Bear (grizz) tracks that could not compare to what we saw in length and width (narrower heel and human toe structure). I was about 11-12 at time of Rice Fork and was before the “Patty” film. I’m 72 now.

But, the sounds this person on this episode recorded are pure uninterrupted roars with a pretty high pitch over and over that could not be from coyotes. They’re of a huge volume that coyotes don’t possess. Even wolves could not do that, with that volume and they are capable of infra-sound (wolves)…I had a large Timber/Akita cross for awhile and when they give off a low warning growl deep deep down it will vibrate your insides and it could easily be terrifying. that’s another story.
