SC EP:402 Giant chimpanzee on all fours chasing the deer

I am in the process of working on the member show and I thought I would go ahead a release the public show early for you guys and gals. It should be available later today.

A listener writes “I had several encounters 20 years ago on and around some property that’s in the family. My Mother had lived there and past away from drug and alcohol problems in ‘95.

So I went up to her old house and started fixing it up as it was in pretty bad shape. But even though Mom and I never got along and I was never close with her or that side of the family they didn’t give me any grief about me just taking over the old place. No one else wanted it at the time. I was a teenager with my own home and my own ride. That combo tends to make boys think they’re men. Most of time everything up there was quiet and normal. But several events occurred over the years that scared me so bad I buried it deep inside and tried for years to forget about it.

But in recent years I’ve started digging for answers which led me to your show. But still I’ve never talked about any of it. But just 2 weeks ago I saw another one of these things just about a 6-7 minute drive from where I live now in Spartanburg County. Town of Cross Anchor in Enoree. I work second shift and was driving home. It was about 11:40pm. Foggy night. There’s a dirt driveway that leads to private property that can’t be seen from the road. It’s almost right on the Enoree river. As I past the driveway I spotted eyeshine approximately 7 feet above the ground. Directly in the middle of the driveway, about 30 feet or so back from the road. I could see the white of teeth and the hair on the chest, which was dirty blonde. Same color as a bail of hay. Eyeshine was red. Had it not been for the eyeshine I probably wouldn’t have noticed it. It didn’t move at all. Just as a Deer would “freeze”. Something I remember you saying on the show came to mind “I think these things live right on the edge of society.” You’re absolutely right!! When I look around where I live. I don’t see THEM. But I DO see habitat that is perfect FOR them.

The first encounter was on October 10th 1998. I’ll NEVER forget that!! I was 19, and invincible as all 19 year olds are, Mom’s old house is in a valley between two mountains off of highway 8 (which becomes highway 11 a few miles further down). It’s in Dacusville in Pickens County. It’s at the foot of the blue ridge mountains near bald rock, Table Rock, Glassy Mountain, and Ceasers Head. The area has grown up a lot since then, but at the time if you saw another car on the road then there was to much traffic. I was hunting a spot just a few miles from the house but left around 10:00-10:15pm frankly because it was very dark right there, heavy fog, and the woods were unusually silent. So driving along and almost to the old house in my ‘84 Jeep that I had at the time, I saw a deer jump off a ridge about 14-16 feet high, land in the middle of the road and continue running across the road down a valley.

Now having grown up in the woods and around wildlife I instinctively started slowing down because the deer was a mature Doe, so I was waiting to see if a fawn might be following her… One thing that was strange and spooked me was the speed of the deer. To this day I’ve never seen one run that fast. So I’m waiting for a possible fawn, and instead I see this huge black hairy.. Giant Chimpanzee on all fours chasing the deer. I’m trying to slow down but the brakes on Jeeps are pretty crappy. This thing that, thanks to you, I know to call a type 2 launched himself off that ridge (hunched over, Head and feet forward, arms and hands back). He was probably 35-40 feet in front of me and the image of this thing in midair still makes me… It’s EXTREMELY difficult to even type this.

He landed on the other side of the road effortlessly. I heard and felt the THUD. Hard to explain but the perfect fluid movement and speed of this thing is what made my blood run cold. My heart was in my throat, my mind was numb, stomach turned upside down. Primal fear. The creature continued the chase as if it didn’t know or care that I was there, it had perfect 200% focus on that deer. He chased her down the valley and I could just see her neck, shoulders, and outline of her back in the dim moonlight. Chasing her he appeared as a 3 and a half foot wide black shadow crashing through the brush like a tank.

I was approaching a curve, but just before it I saw her going up the other side of the valley headed for a tree line but she stopped and I saw that white tail. She was darting left to right and THEN I could just make out the outline of another one standing in the tree line! I was in the curve at that point and couldn’t see anything else.

I didn’t sleep that night at all. I laid in bed with my clothes and boots on with the SKS I had at the time. Around 3am I heard screams/howls/roars and a series of whoops in between, up the mountain behind the house. It went on until about 20 after 4am.
After that, events that today I can attribute to them were few and far between. Just this and that. Occasional stray dogs or cats that would show up. A day or so later they would be gone. Folks that live in the area would stop by looking for their dog. I was hiking the area one day and picked up a horrible smell. Like sewer and roadkill.

Not knowing what it was, but always being mindful of my surroundings in the forest, I raised my rifle and backed out of there slowly. But most of the time there was nothing going on that I could tell. But what finally was the last straw for me was guys from a work crew pounding on my door. This was in 2005. These guys were pissed off saying that a guy in a gorilla suit was throwing rocks at them from the woods! They said they threw some back and he ran off towards my house. They thought it was me and I actually let them come in and look around and when they saw no monkey costume and could see I had food on my table that I had been cooking. They could see it wasn’t me. They were asking me if I had any weird neighbors or practical jokers around. In my mind I knew what happened but what could I say? After that I moved away.

I now live about 2 hours away from there in Cross Anchor about a mile from Horseshoe Falls which is a Revolutionary War Battlefield and national park. I’ve been listening to your show for about a year off and on. I’m Married now with a 20 month old son. I don’t feel like I could come on the show because I don’t really get along with that side of the family. They are very well known in that area. Several of them are Lawyers and Police Officers. They would be none to pleased to say the least and could easily make my life a living Hell. I also have to think about my Wife and baby boy.

I spend most of my time with her and her family. They are very good people but deeply religious and total skeptics. I have been able to open them up to possiblilites by saying things like “You know, they say Sasquatch isn’t real, but would you really want to find out they’re wrong the HARD WAY?”

Originally I was just going to write you to thank you for your work… Wes I really do appreciate what you do man. It MATTERS!!

20 years I’ve been silent about this. You’re the first to know. I can’t even tell my Wife, not because she wouldn’t believe me, but because she would. And I don’t feel like she could handle it.

I appreciate your time and apologize for the long email”

Those we’re great encounters, told very well. Thanks so much for sharing them, I lived close to that area in’98 and it was a beautiful area, nobody lived out there for miles it would have been the perfect habitat for them. Anyway I’m glad the guest had courage to share with us

My father has a farm in Walhalla SC . It’s the same thing, certain areas nobody feels comfortable and alot of strange things happen around the farm. No sightings, just the feeling of being watched.

  3. RickyV

WOW what an experience! A real white knuckler! I could feel his anguish, pain, and terror at every turn! So glad he was able to let go and share his encounters. Very courageous; wasn’t easy. Took a lot of guts man. His story deserves to be honored. Respect!

This guy was one HELLUVA good story teller. He sounded absolutely natural, not rehearsed, but also not confused, not bouncing around going off on tangents. Excellent descriptions. It is amazing how he made an unbelievable story completely believable.
It makes me wish we knew more about his mom, she sounds like she may have been a very misunderstood person.

Travis here, I feel bad that this guy felt like he was pressured to leave the property. I think his mother may have built a good relationship with the wild people but just did not know of her passing. I wish there was an opportunity for him to rebuild a relationship. This might sound a little nuts but I’m not scared of a little ridicule plus I know it will never happen face to face so I wish to tell everybody that they need to start hanging garlic outside their windows so that the wild people can get it. I firmly believe that the hanging the garlic in the window was a customary thing to get along with the wild people. If there is not a cedar forest or Cedar Swamp nearby to keep the mosquitoes and ticks at Bay I am sure that the garlic is a highly desired commodity. I also want to tell people that they have currency and I was paid in marbles 4 animals that was taken from our farm when I was growing up. I sent on this for 30 years and somewhere around 2015 when the dawn of Internet came for me, Bigfoot was the first thing I googled. I was getting Impressions from people’s encounters that everybody thought that they were monsters and wood validate the need for the government to kill them off. I hope to be able to Enlighten people that they would much rather get along with us at a distance then to have Strife between us. One more major fact I need to say is that fear is a very dangerous thing and Wild animals and wild people we’ll see the fear as a threat to their safety. I’ve never used a flashlight in the woods and I have had encounters in different places not including the habitation that I was fortunate enough to experience and learn how to coexist with them.

This encounter gets you to thinking what would have happened to this man of he had gone outside or had stayed on the property? He may have been one of the Missing 411 victims?
Wes! Have thought about or tried to have a round table show with David Paulidies (Missing 411l and really dive into the link between these creatures and missing people? That would be a great show. There has to be link and I believe it is one of the main reasons the Government is covering this stuff up?

Great job Kevin, thanks for coming on and sharing your experiences. I’m probably like most out there where the thought of being alone in some small house out in the middle of nowhere surrounded by nothing but woods would make one extremely uncomfortable when the sun goes down. I’ll take suburbia any day. Wes, 2018 is off to a great start!, keep up the hard work.

    Kevin and Wes ~
    Excellent Story Telling
    Excellent Listening and Interviewing.
Kevin, your descriptions were detailed and clear. Your conclusions and assessments were well thought out and well spoken. Thank You for sharing your experiences and I am sorry you lost your Eden.
Wes, as always, Thank You and keep up your good work.

Funny Kevin Eluded to Tracy’s Encounter because it had that type intensity to it. This was a very well told and had to be terrorizing for him series of encounters. I do agree with the relic hominid theory. They’ve been around probably a few million years along with a multitude of other bipedal hominids. They’ve succeeded where others have failed to survive. Really good show very well told. Thanks Wes. Thanks for sharing Kevin. Tough and I know personally you cannot Un-See.

Keowee-Toxaway State Park is a state park in Pickens County, South Carolina. It was created in 1970 along the shores of lake Keowee which is a HUGE manmade lake. I was surprised to learn that such a large body of water was man made.

I had heard that when they flooded the valley to make the lake they covered a lot of old native American villages.

I think its disgraceful people leaving stray dogs and animals out like that, i can only imagine the savage killing the dam bigfoot did to them. Whats wrong with people, funny i don’t care about humans or kids but animals can’t defend themselves, i hope something nasty happens to anyone who dumps animals like that, to me they are pieces of crap.

    Hello Wes & Kevin!

Kevin your account was so well presented, that Wes had few questions. I’m sorry you were driven off your land.
The senseless dumping of family pets is cruel and could have contributed to your problems.
I’m glad you offered the helpless pets a hand.

    Thank you….. ??

A BIG thanks to your guest for sharing all his experiences! Very, very informative and justifies what we are hearing from other reports. Fascinating and terrifying.

Thanks for coming on and sharing your encounter. I visualized it as you were describing what happened. I wish I could have drawn a picture from mind when you said how he jumped across the road chasing the deer. Would have made a awesome picture.
        One of my favorite episodes.

  16. Michelle L

Really glad Kevin came on as it was a pretty intense show and scary to hear about in the safety of suburbia. I can’t fathom the level of fear he felt when they came up to the house and I hope I never have a similar experience. Thanks Wes and many thanks, Kevin. Stay safe.

  17. Denise F

I’m fairly new to Sasquatch Chronicles but I’m already addicted lol. This was a great (yet spooky) episode.

I’m picturing the Appalachian Trail at the end…….

  18. Dan M

Wes, I’ve been a member since the very beginning, I rank this show in my top 5, what an excellent guest!! An amazing & frightening series of events that were presented in a clear, descriptive manner along with dates/location. Thank you!! As a paying member this was worth every cent!!

    • Kevin X

I hate to admit it, but you’re right Rusty. Hard to explain but it’s extremely difficult to talk about all that. Basically how I did it was to replay the events and describe it as best as I could.

  19. Maria D

My biggest fear is encountering one of the “giant Chimps” someday, they scare me the most. Even regular Chimps creap me out, I can’t even imagine seeing one of these monsters. Thanks for sharing.

  20. Brenda O

    Kevin,
Thank you for sharing your encounters. So scary. When I was about 13, my sister and I were home alone and heard a noise at the window in our living room. It was about 2am. We pulled back the curtain and there stood a neighbor -peeking in at us. We screamed and ran next door. I thought that was scary….I cannot imagine seeing a huge creature in the window! Hope things are better for you now.

    Thank you Wes for everything!
