SC EP:335 Encounter on Harstine Island

Rich Germeau revisits his November 11, 2010 encounter with one or more Bigfoot on Harstine Island near Shelton, Washington. This encounter culminated a five year search for Bigfoot with the Olympic Project, The Sasquatch Genome Project, and independently. Rich has an impressive background and has been looking into this subject for several years, and I’m glad he has agreed to come on the show.

I like the sound of this guy Rich. After listening to him, he seems very credible. Apparently these cannibal monsters are very good swimmers, I doubt they took the ferry to the Island. I love to put this on late at night and doze off watching it, and then I watch it in its entirety the next day…LOL

Wes, awesome interview with Rich, he seems very knowledgeable in the subject, a no BS guy for sure. This guy has done and seen it all regarding BF and we’re still no closer in finding out what these things are all about. Your conversation was spot on. The more we look into this phenomena the less we know. Speedy recovery to you and thanks for bringing the best!

  3. Shelly S

Yes! This is so great. I’ve been waiting on this..i will listen on my way to work, taking the LONG way there! Growing up in an island in the Puget sound, this really fascinates me. Always thought I was safe on an island….ha. And Rich is so believable and well spoken.
Wes, hope you are feeling better!

  4. m99

~ Good Job writing that memo!~ When we started listening to SC and realized this is real, I was angry for a while too, because people should / need to know the dangers and reality of what is in the woods.

  5. Ryan M

Thanks Wes Ribs are no joke sounds dumb but get a big pillow or teddy bear to hug when it hurts or coughing laughing. Thats what they have trauma patients do open heart surgery accident victims. They hugging moves the pressure to the back. Great show btw. Once again you deliver even admist personal issues!

  6. Maynard w

I would love to hear from Ketchum. Her results made sense. The publishing is sketchy, as I understand it. I am sure no one would touch it. I would like to hear her speak to it to an understanding audience. Mitochondrial DNA from a single human female about 10 thousand yrs ago and primate explains the variance in phylogeny. Hybrids are not always sterile especially in extremely genetically similar species. If they are sub-species its probably not a problem at all.

  7. Shelly S

Maynard-But what is an understanding audience? Not necessarily the BF community. As Rich said she lost her livelihood speaking out. Just saying. I would love to hear her speak, also.

  8. Shelly S

Thank you, Wes. Thank you, Rich. This really struck a chord with me. You said you felt you have a responsibility to share what you know. I listened and my thoughts on what they are has, once again, shifted. Stay true to yourself. Thanks for being so open.

  9. Eric H

He is exactly right!!! This western culture has our brain tore up from the floor up, exercise self autotomy the ancient texts tell you all you need to know, hope you feel better Wes! Thanks awesome show

  10. Maynard w

Thank you for reminding me m99. Going to listen to that interview again right now. Its been a minute. I like to think that SC is an understanding community. Trolls are everywhere, but we are not the BF community. Thank you Wes and Rich.

    • m99

How true Maynard, we are Not the Bigfoot Community. A while back my husband asked if I want to go look for BF? I said no the heck no! I have no desire to do that. Thanks for the terrific points too.

  11. Joseph M

Problems I have with his conclusions.
    1. There is no objective evidence that Sasquatch follow you home or know where you live. NONE
    2. There is no objective evidence that Sasquatch is a relic hominid and not an ape.
    3. There is no objective evidence that Sasquatch can mind speak to ANYONE.
    4. There is no objective evidence that Sasquatch can make you feel guilty for putting out cameras.
    5. There is no objective evidence that Sasquatch can cloak, disappear, fly with aliens, travel with ghosts, play poker with mothman, etc.
    6. Just because EVERYONE does not have an encounter when they go looking does not mean BF is more intelligent than man, it just means he is more intelligent than THAT man.
    7. There is no objective evidence that Sasquatch has access to “both worlds”.
    8. If he wants to go into the woods unarmed because he feels he is some kindred spirit to BF thats his choice, but I will never ever do that. It is just stupid on so many levels. However, I will not shoot one unless I am cornered, threatened, and have no other recourse or escape. Maybe I would not be able to stop the attack on me or family, but I sure as hell would prevent the next attack on someone else’s family because I assure it would die eventually from infection or blood loss. That is of course assuming the Greys don’t come down and rush them off to a BF hospital in the Galactic Federation.
    9. Ketchum is her own worst enemy. She should have kept her mouth shut and let the evidence speak for itself. Instead I hear she is mind speaking, had sex, and other crazy stuff with BF.
    10. Ketchum is NOT a geneticist. She is a veterinarian.

I do not want the BF mystery solved. I love the mystery of it. I love hearing the stories of dangerous encounters whether it is with a bear, big cat, or BF. I don’t want the overbearing ever present omnipotent US Govt telling me I cant go into the woods because the green spotted, farting-moth is in danger and we cant disturb its natural habitat.

Wes you are a nice guy and I respect that you don’t call your guests out on some of the things they say. I , however ,am not the host and I can. I don’t discount what he says, of course I listen and put it into the back of my mind to see if it corroborates any additional evidence. But much of what he states is just conjecture.

    • m99

Wow Joseph, you’re a real expert aren’t you? Maybe you should start your own radio show with all that critical thinking skill you possess.

    • Scott D

Since you want to bring “critical thinking” into this, a few points to make:

      1) Claim 1–you are not privy to all evidence available so your claim is baseless. It is merely your opinion. When you can demonstrate that you have all of the available relevant evidence, and that it has been assessed properly, you can make a claim like you did.
      2) See Claim 1.
      Claims 3-5, no contention.
      6) Your conclusion doesn’t necessarily follow. It could all be luck and have nothing to do with intelligence at all. More so, if they are primates, they may be operating on instinct and not intelligence at all. This is conjecture on your part.
      7) No contention.
      8) Personal preference, it seems you would have to have the very objective facts you desire to correctly assess the threat level accurately. Practically, I agree, as I would go armed as well.
      9) No contention.
      10) But vets are trained in genetics and she has the background to assess claims in a relevant manner.

Personal testimony can always be called “conjecture”. However, as courts of law support, testimony can be reliable and truth conducive. More so, anticipating the traditional Elizabeth Loftus comments about testimony being unreliable are comical when considered in particular contexts. While someone may not know what they are looking at, they know it is big, walking on two legs, and a particular color. Match that up with known primates and it doesn’t fit. Are there hoaxes? Yes. Especially those that occur 20 miles deep in dense woods away from civilization, with someone just waiting to hoax someone. Critical thinking requires that all evidence is considered, not just direct evidence but circumstantial evidence too.

I found this one of the best interviews Wes has done. I don’t agree with everything the speaker said, but I think it was worthwhile and illuminating.

      • m99

Thx Scott, great points too. And as far as I was concerned, I was just playing a bit w/ Joseph because he made valid points. Sorry if I said “critical thinking”, and hurt feelings or caused people to get defensive. I’ll try to be more reserved here.

  12. Maynard w

I am not an apologist. Dr Ketchum is a veterinarian. She has done extensive forensic work. As I understand it she has separated canine DNA from two human samples (assailant and victim). She knows her way around a genome. A lot of the Woo allegations came from outside sources which she has addressed. I would love to hear from Dr Bryan Sykes also.

    • m99

I’m with you., not one to defend or refute Dr. Ketchem . I do know she worked on the DNA project to do with the 911 recovery process. She’s a PhD too. I don’t think I’ve ever heard she mind speaks, or has had sex with the big guy. Just never heard anything to that affect.

  13. Martin Z

Hey Wes, I sure hope this bruised rib of yours isn’t going to continue getting in the way of you putting out podcasts. Sorry Wes but your podcasts are so good that I don’t want to miss any of them. Lol

  14. Martin Z

Also I remember at the beginning of SC when Wes And Woody gave Dr Ketchum such a hard time and literally laughed at her findings. I for one believe Ketchums findings. The human part of the test was throwing everyone off. How could the test show human, there must be a contamination. The reason her alalysis was showing half ape half human is because this thing we all call Sasquatch is in fact half H U M A N!!!!! The government knows she’s right and did everything to discredit the poor woman.

  15. Greg T

Listened to the show this morning and then ate a fortune cookie this evening that read, “The mystical is not how the world is, but that it is.” Enjoyed the show as always.

  16. Glen K

(New Jersey) Excellent interview. Rich Is intelligent and well spoken. He has really put a lot of time and thought into the subject. When discussing evidence, I was surprised the Freeman footage wasn’t mentioned. I find it to be very compelling video. Anyway, a great show! I really enjoyed it!

  17. Kim C. L

Thank you Wes, for that interesting listen! Especially since you don’t feel 100%
I think the wide spectrum of opinion expressed in the comments is a good indicator of the quality of the show,
in that, it really got folks thinking.

  18. Christian L

Some previous guests postulate BF can detect the cameras due to odors of the technical components and plastics or they are sensing some sound or harmonic of the camera mechanisms, capacitors etc that we can’t detect but is in a frequency range they are sensitive to…finally they likely have some sort of ability to see in a slightly wider range than we can and can possibly see to some degree in the light range of night vision illuminators which explains their nocturnal habits. And don’t forget as we stealthily place cameras they may be watching us the whole time placing the cameras. Bottom line BF is master of his domain…just as a Killer whale can swim and kill with impunity wherever the Hell they like these things know their environment to depths we can only imagine that make some people jump to the “woo” conclusions….I am not baffled at all that they seem to avoid game cams….the “woo aspect” may be real but I’m not seeing their avoidance of game cams as evidence of interdemensional woo powers…..as they roll in their own poop and tear off the heads of dogs, cats, disembowel deer for fun….not behavior I would expect from galactic travelers….just sayin. Great show and interesting perspective ..

  19. Michael S

Great show Wes, one of the best I’ve heard! And I’ve listened to all of them.

It’s also good to hear you admit that these things are more than flesh and blood.

As a former military officer (and LEO) I’d like to hear more from military encounters, more specifically the kill team members.

  20. pam

This interview came at a time where a lot of use are morphing our thinking.
I have always wondered from day one : how come so many investigators looking into this critter, seem to end up in the “woo”???

I could list SO many that started out as died in the wool ‘apers’ (me included) -some even made terrible remarks about those that said there was a woo factor-then they became “knowers-of-the woo’ !
Do we all end up finding out more than we want to know?

I am with Rich; I will not go out actively looking re-see the thing I saw . I enjoy looking around for sign when I am out, but if I did find sign I’d leave. Rich’s statements were all spot on! His assessments of the sightings facts and the reasoning on the governmental reactions are undeniable and the best answer to why the govt. and it’s scientists do not leap at the chance to declare a new species.

Thanks Wes, again. This was an interview that came just at the right time for many of us who are thinking long and hard about the true nature of these creatures.

  21. EDWARD D

…quantum physics……..??? Enjoyed your encounter but please stick to what you know and don’t postulate bull@…t. There are maybe a couple of hundred scientists around the world who have a thorough handle on quantum physics. As the great quantum physicist Richard Feyndman said “if you think that you understand quantum physics , you DON’T understand quantum physics”. This is NOT a layman’s term to bandy about whenever something unexplained happens.

    • F S

      Wes:
Keep saying what you believe. NO ONE should edit you regarding quantum physics, or any other topic.
As for Dr. Ketchum, things were said about her on this show that were neither kind nor generous. That’s another choice that was made. It it what it is and was a part of that free speech we all have the right to employ. I don’t think we should feel that her decision to not do an interview is her short-fall. It is self-preservation. She has lost a great deal that more than most people know.
I do believe that you have evolved and broadened your view of what these things may be. That is commendable. That does not take away what was said.
As for Dr. FEYNMAN, he also said:
“The first principle is that you must not fool yourself and you are the easiest person to fool.”
(If you’re going try to insult someone else’s intellect, you might want to be sure you at least spell names correctly least you look like a tool.)

  22. mescha m

I really liked this episode. my friend who i visit her ranch frequently is right where he is talking about. I asked my friend who has lived there 40+ years. he said he has never seen anything. but recently there are strange trails coming up from the creek. deer are EVERYWHERE out there. Also.. I used to ride horses out in Dewatto, which is only a few miles from my home. (((shiver)))

  23. Carolyn R

Wes, here I go woo again. Did you ever consider “orbs” ? I don’t believe that Sasquatch can follow you home from that distance that’s talked about. I do believe that orbs could. Didn’t you say there was an intelligence about them? I started to tell you of my belief about orbs when in my interview but I took off talking in another direction. I must be related to Bear and Combo…….

  24. Sam C

This was one of my favorite episodes so far. I can relate to pretty much everything he said. Anyone arguing that there is no evidence to what he is saying isn’t smart enough to realize that’s basically what he’s saying also. He went into the field trying to gather evidence and all he gathered was experiences. After having experiences most of my life, I’ve managed to get one definitive footprint photo, pics of unnatural tree structures and a lot of strange things happening. The one thing I can say is the weird things are the one guarantee you’ll get if you really spend the time in the woods looking into this. And they CAN show up at your house.

  25. jennifer g

Fascinating interview Wes and Rich, merci beau coup , I’ve been thinking about it all day. I commend you Rich for following what you felt after the last sighting, really. I think you and Wes approached the woo factor, on air mind you!, in a most honest, thoughtful and prudent way and it was impressive and refreshing.. Well done mates! That’s why SASCHRON is the best. WORD ! Look at all the comments!!! Too funny…..Keep on being the awesome HOMO SAPIANS you are, both of you!

  26. Jack A

One of the best interviews I’ve heard to date. Love it, Wes. I really like how you asked Ron M “what’s some of the weird stuff that’s happened to you.” Think that’s a great question to keep asking guests.

  27. Chris422

This was a very nice interview. You had well thought out questions and his answers were interesting and thought provoking. I’ll take shows like this anytime.

  28. ROBERT V

    Hello,

What is annoying about modern “science” it really isn’t “science” its a religion without God. “Science” as we know it today is so biased against anything spirtual or that points to a creator it’s absolutely ignorant.

This is one of the best interviews ever done. It’s easily in the top five. I like this one just as much as the guys who shot the hell out of the Sasquatch at the guys house.

Anyway; I’m unsure of what Sasquatch is. I do want to say I never saw one, but my son did. What I’ve had run in’s with spirits and the like. The same feeling I get when I’m in a house or place with a spirit is the same feeling I would get around my grandmother’s yard at night. I want to mention one of the most terrible experiences I ever experienced was with an orb. Same feeling. Actually I slept in my car away from the campsite because I felt as though the orb would have brought a Sasquatch into the campsite. I really want to believe Sasquatch is an ape, but if the DNA evidence is correct, it’s something else. I also wonder about the dogman as well. I have a very strong feeling if I ever went to look for a Sasquatch they’d come to me. It’s such a strong feeling I’m never going to look for them. I really believe, soon, the reality of the spiritual, natural, and science are all going to come crashing together. Is this what the Book of Revelation is about? I don’t know. But it’s obvious science has limitations. The problem with “scientists” and “science” and “education” especially at public school and the university level; is their inability to accept their form of science is way off. What is interesting, is the fathers of science, were Christians who felt science proved God and the Spirtual realm.

    Bob

    • Carolyn R

Bob you are so right, especially about the orbs. That is exactly what I was trying to say in my bumbling way….. you are so right about the spiritual, natural and science soon to come crashing togather. Verse 56:9 of Isaiah. Especially the basic English translation. In my opinion that verse should have been in the book of Revelations.
      Carolyn

    • Carolyn R

Please Rich now you have a real idea of the way this is all going please don’t quit. Keep on keeping on! We as the public need to know the truth…
Thank you so much for sharing your encounters. 🙂

    • F S

      Thank you Rich!
I found you credible, insightful, and honest. Years of writing reports has served you well as you are a gifted story-teller.
I don’t know what these things are, nor do I know all they can do, so I’ll keep an open mind.
      Stay safe.
      God Bless.

  29. Jeremy J

Thanks for not bullshitting around the bush Rich! I am certainly glad that the truth is now starting to come out. I’ve known their abilities for quite a while now, since Mike Paterson came out with the Nephatia recordings and I first heard the sierra sounds. All you fucking trolls without the ability to think critically need to stfu and really look into this with an open mind and leave the religion of scientism.

  30. James E

Wes, my man… This one may be the best. Rich is incredible…! So sincere, so believable, so we’ll spoken… Fantastic episode…! Thank you buddy…!!!

  31. Rich G

I’ve been a bit taken back by all the comments regarding this podcast and the original youtube interview. I was hoping people were ready for this and it seems they were. I had waited since 2010 to really tell it, I’ve told it before to a handful of people with mixed results.

I really don’t care what people think but I wanted my story to come out publicly when I thought people would see it for what it is and to encourage others to come forward and tell their stories. I think the eyewitness accounts documented throughout history are the most significant evidence, the witnesses stories corroborate each other from the ancient eyewitness accounts told on rock walls to the peoples accounts we have today. It shows that people were experiencing the same things then as they are now but maybe now we actually know much less than our ancestors did.

I believe this coveted phenomenon may be the most accessible doorway into humanities true past and that’s why its so hard to crack. I can tell you that it has strengthened my confidence and realigned my belief system, where once I had faith I now have fact in many parts of my life. For me I feel like some of my innocence has been stripped, like I don’t get to make the same mistakes now as everybody else, like maybe I need to be more accountable, because I have gotten a glimpse into something which is supposed to remain hidden from us. I feel like I was given this “gift” or “curse” satisfying my thirst for knowledge just enough to change my behavior and divert my path.

    My thanks and my thoughts.

    • Sam C

Thanks for sharing all of this Rich. When an average person comes out and tells people some of the wacky thing they’ve experienced relating to this topic, people can roll their eyes and automatically right them off as anoth crazy person, but when an experienced investigator like yourself comes forward with the same subject matter people might actually listen. I have a feeling you probably haven’t even shared everything that’s happened to you, cause if it’s anything like some of the things I’ve experienced you even start to question your own sanity. And I’m sure you know that once they know you’re aware of the things they can do, they usually take it up a notch and that’s when stuff really gets bizarre. They’re always one step ahead. It’s paradigm crushing for some individuals and again I thank you for coming out with the truth about what you’ve witnessed.

    • Blanche D

Really very thought provoking interview. Many thanks. I left a comment before reading your comment here about holding a court like an actual courtroom with a real judge etc. Forget about waiting for the establishment to enlighten us about reality. Best wishes.

  32. Sue H

Thanks Wes and Rich. Amazing experiences you’ve had out there Rich. I’ve also been following The Olympic Project and am anxiously awaiting the next update about the ground nests your group has found. Please be safe out there and come back on SC when you have more to share.

  33. Bryan G

Belief-Bias Effect. The Belief-Bias Effect refers to the results that happen when an individual’s own values, beliefs, prior knowledge, etc. affects, or distorts, the reasoning process through the acceptance of invalid arguments or data.

When examining data this effect is one thing we, as humans, need to be aware of. It can hide the answer right in front of your face. Follow the evidence/data and conclude from results.

  34. Darrell O

Interesting interview and everyone listed above covered it pretty well. The one statement that completely stood out to me was his blanket statement of everyone in this mordern age doesn’t believe half of the Bible. He might believe that but he sure doesn’t speak for me! My God is big enough to have accomplished everything in his word!!! I am not preaching a sermon, I just couldn’t let that statement go unaddressed. Whew! With that said thanks Wes for another great show. I hope to get to meet you at the International Bigfoot Conference!

  35. Rita S

Rich, I believe that you are onto a much greater truth than most people have the paradigm to place it in. That’s all I’ll say about that. I do appreciate you speaking truthfully about it. So glad you survived the journey!

  36. Evelyn L

This is a very good episode. There will always be people (even BF “investigators” and fans) that refuse to accept anything that is beyond their ability to understand in this flesh and blood realm. Just the fact that this creature has been seen for hundreds of years (maybe even thousands) on every continent and yet no one has even been able to produce a body or even a clear picture – should cause people to begin to realize that there is something very odd about this creature beyond what we know about other wild animals. It most likely has abilities beyond what we understand at this point.

  37. Evelyn L

It wasn’t Melba that came up with some weird idea. She just got the tests organized and the samples to the proper labs and then collected the data and reported it. She did not go into the lab and conduct the tests! Why are people treating her so badly? There were many samples, not just one, and she had the guts to trust the results of those scientific tests and report on them. It is sad that people are so ignorant and bone headed that they would deny scientific data just because they refuse to accept something to be true that is outside their very limited realm of possibility.
Science today (that we are allowed to know about) is at a standstill due to the fact that it allows nothing that is outside the flesh and blood aspects of what we can see and feel. There are reports that the astronauts have seen strange things while orbiting the earth and yet it is kept hush hush because “we the people” might just get the wrong impression if we knew the truth about what is out there. What UFOs can do defies the science that we know of today. The “powers that be” are desperate to keep people trapped within their theories of what they say is truth. They would rather deny the truth than allow others to realize truth.
The ancients knew that there is another realm. They wrote about it openly and that other realm was accepted as truth right up until the 20th century when elite atheists and Free Masons began taking over the most prestigious colleges and universities of the western world. During the mid 19th century they began infiltrating those higher learning institutions with the ideologies of modernism and Darwinism that deny that other realm and makes everything about what we can see, touch, and feel in this realm. The once Christian western educational system is now completely atheistic and totally unaccepting of anything “other worldly.”
We recently had a former Air Force pilot say on national television that he had seen a UFO that had technology that was “not of this world.” What he and many others have seen denied all the laws of physics that science knows of today. There are so many other things that have been seen above the earth and on the earth that do not fall into any category that we flesh and blood beings can understand and yet they are being seen and experienced by good reputable people around the world. Those good reputable people are then no longer good or reputable if they tell anyone what they have seen or experienced because our educational system and the corporate owned media have made it unacceptable to even speak of such things unless they are in the realm of “science FICTION.”
“We the people” are being forced to think and believe only what we are told by the educational institutions. Nothing else is acceptable. The media reinforces whatever the educational system has ordained as truth. Many of the attitudes about cryptids today are the way that they are due to the stance that the entertainment industry and news agencies have taken on such things. They may make movies about cryptids but they are always science fiction. There may be a news report here and there about the subject but there is always a tongue in cheek attitude weaved into those stories. They just cannot take a witnesses testimony seriously and treat that person with respect.

  38. L. Oriana S

One of the best interviews you’ve ever done, Wes. This guy PROVES that solid evidence (including clear DNA showing half-human hybrid genes) is being kept from the public, and that there is a cover-up of this creature’s paranormal abilities. Five stars!!

  39. Blanche D

Another award winning. Bit confusing to start with possibly due to another similar interview recently having taken place already, mentioned later in chronicle. Nevertheless fascinating. If I had a million dollars for a project, l would hold court. Get a real retired judge, get 12 jurors that don’t believe in sasquatch/open-minded, defender and prosecutor – real ones, and then present the case. Witnesses like Stephen and researchers could be cross examined. It could be fimed live on YouTube lasting several days, weeks, seasons. Peeps like me in UK could pay a fee and those able to attend could purchase ticket. I would love that. Start crowdfunding. Another thing to note is that ESTABLISHED science such as quantum field, quantum mechanics, other dimensions etc, when experienced in the field are totally ignored by established scientific institutions, which when you think about it it is shameful. Subatomic particles can be in 2 places at once, bosons travel through matter, Werner Heisenberg theoretical physicist and pioneer of quantum mechanics said “reality is not what it seems”, though been much adopted by the next gen of physicists in the field. Aliens are real so why can’t a hominin have developed quantum cells that can tap into other dimensions? Even a simple Robin (EU/UK), uses such cells in their eyes to migrate by sensing the earth’s magnetic field.

  40. Brad C

There’s a kindred sentiment between Rich and many, many investigators/researchers. Once you really dig in to this topic or the UFO/Abduction topic you keep hearing the same topics coming up in different contexts. You hear very similar experiences hidden inside much different surface descriptions of events.
Are UFO’s/Aliens really related to this topic or is the same thing behind them both – simply wrapping itself in the visage most disturbing and confusing to the experiencer?
In truth the UFO topic is the only reason I found my way here. To my knowledge I’ve never had a Bigfoot/Sabe encounter but the descriptions of the unnatural and artificial levels of fear, the communication in some cases, the missing time, lights in the woods, there’s just too many points of commonality. I wanted to flood myself with information from this community and decide for myself if there were any answers here.
