SC EP:256 I ran so far away

The witness we welcome to the show tonight was out in the forest late one night when he had an encounter. He writes, “So I start walking down the mountain to where I was sure our campsite was, I started to feel like I was being followed and watched.

I started hearing sticks break in the distance. I started getting a little spooked so I told myself to go to where the road was. I knew it was on my right side, so I started heading to my right. Heading that way for a while I wasn’t seeing the road. I started getting nervous. I stopped by this large tree and looked around me to get my barrings. About a minute later I hear this heavy deep grunt. And  its CLOSE. I almost felt like it was on the other side of the tree.

My first thought was that it was a bear. I stood very silent and listened. My mind kept racing… maybe its a mountain lion, maybe my friends are messing with me. So it felt like an eternity but I didn’t hear anything else. So I decided to just start moving. I slowly and as quietly as I could started walking away. I honestly didn’t look around cause of how scared I was. As I was walking away from that tree I heard brush and sticks kinda wrestling back and forth. I pulled out my phone and turned on the flashlight. I turned around and shined it in the direction of the noise. The noise stopped when I raised the flashlight. I didn’t see anything. I started making noise, yelling HEY and I picked up a rock and threw it towards some trees.

When the rock hit the tree I instantly felt this booming growl. I don’t really know how to describe it but it was deep and loud and I FELT it in the bottom of my stomach. I remember saying out loud, ‘Oh f**k’ cause I really thought it was a bear about to charge or something. With my flashlight out in front of me I start slowly looking around in that direction. Barely out of my flashlights reach I think I see this figure standing halfway out from behind this tree. I am fixed on it and trying to figure out if its my imagination or if its a tall massive man looking at me and I hear this deep breathing like someone had just ran a marathon. I thought about turning off my flashlight to see if I could see it better when my eyes adjusted to the dark but I was too nervous.

Just about that time I saw a arm come up and around the front of the tree. almost like he was hugging the tree. I KNEW this wasn’t my imagination anymore. This was someone looking at me. I have never felt fear like I did in that moment. I honestly felt like who or whatever this was wanted to do me harm. I started thinking about my newborn baby and how I thought i was never going to hold her again and Id never see my wife again and all these thoughts came shooting through my mind. and about that time I see this GIANT manlike Bigfoot step out from a tree and walk from right to left. He was about twenty maybe thirty feet from me. I could not believe how massive this thing was. I saw him in such great detail that there was no possible way this could have been a bear or a monkey or a guy in a costume or ANYTHING. I could see muscles and he had longish brownish grey hair and he was massive.

I have a friend that’s a bodybuilder and he is 6’2″ and huge but this thing was beyond human size. He was about 7 to maybe 8 feet tall and just GIANT. Broad shoulders and his arms swung when he walked. his hands where fists and they went down to about his knees. I was so terrified that I started shaking and I have NEVER done that. I remember he turned and looked RIGHT at me right before He disappeared behind another tree and I knew he stopped walking because the footsteps stopped. His footsteps where so powerful. I stood there shaking not knowing what to do.

Let me tell you that I have been around a bear before. When I was younger me and my dad came across a bear and I was scared but not like this. This had such a drowning effect. It almost felt like he just sucked all the air out around you and you couldn’t move. I KNEW that if I were to run he would just catch me in a matter of seconds. I always carry a pocket knife but I didn’t feel at all like that would do ANYTHING to protect me.

It felt like SUCH a long time just standing there waiting for something to happen. Then I heard a car. It was somewhere behind me. I didn’t even think about it I just remember I turned started running toward the sound of the car. As soon as I turned I saw headlights driving down the canyon road. I remember running so fast I was afraid of tripping on something and I knew that if I fell that… that would be it. I remember kicking my knees up to my chest as I ran to make sure I didn’t trip. Honestly all I thought about when I was running was PLEASE GOD let this car see me. I started yelling at the top of my lungs and bolting towards the car. I’ve never ran faster in my life. I came close to the road but not seeing the hill down towards the road.

I completely lost my balance and fell down the hill towards the road. I remember a pop in my collar when I hit the road. I got up just thinking that that thing was right behind me. The car had already driven past but I started running down the road. I knew I had broken something, (my collar bone) I kept running and running praying that thing didn’t come grab me. I never stopped. I finally got a car to pass again and I stopped it. It was a woman and a man. They asked if I was alright. I was so exhausted that I basically collapsed. They took me to the little ranger station area at the mouth of the canyon where a ranger went up and got my friends. They came down and were so surprised seeing me the way I was.

All of it was a blur when the couple found me. When the lady and man found me I was so distressed I was crying and breathing so hard. I don’t remember them asking me anything and I was too overwhelmed to tell them anything. When my friends got to me I tried to regain my composure but I just lost it again and started crying uncontrollably. My best friend took me by himself to the hospital and I told him what happened. I was shaking so bad that he had to pull over and calm me down. I got my bone aligned in the hospital and my wife came to pick me up. I told her what happened that night but I feel like I just cant describe it well enough.

I really just am trying to get this off my chest and hopefully get some closure or something. I don’t know. I just wanted to write in and tell my account cause it sounds like you all take this very seriously and also have had experiences as well. Thank you for your time and I appreciate your professionalism on the show about this.”

That poor guy! I really hope he feels better after talking to you Wes; that has to mean a lot that someone who has the experience too, understands. It’s different I’m sure when you’ve been there, than it is with even people who are sympathetic. I’m a believer, but I would have no idea what that kind of terror feels like. That he kept running was a sure sign of pain and shock, but also of need. I’m so glad someone ran into him and helped. Thank you, Lord for that. Great show Wes – I really appreciate your efforts and the outcome is spectacular.

If you do go back out in the woods, make sure you have at least one other person with you.! The Sasquatch seems real opportunistic and sneaky and seems to go after people alone or someone who has strayed from the group. It might be good for you to talk to someone else that has had an encounter. At least you know you’re believed. Wes could probably hook you up with someone in your area. God Bless You

    Amazing show Wes:)
    The first witness interview…
All those times you’ve been out camping in the woods,
most-likely Bigfoot has been watching you, your family and friends. I believe you have survived the worst part, witnessing one first hand. Bigfoot didn’t harm you,
it could of I’m sure of that.
Live your life, be “more aware” of your surroundings from now on. Talk about your encounter, more want to hear your story than you know!

The first witness interview, you did a wonderful job
    talking with Wes:)
Someday, I hope you will look up; “Sybilla Christine Irwin” Bigfoot artist. You describe to her what you witness, she will create an amazing likeness of what you remembered many years ago.

Cougars, bears, wolves, ect. Don’t play in the dark in their environment . Great encounter but come on man. The 1st guy is blessed, I’m glad he made it. Thanks Wes. Good job.

So many people that tell of their experiences say they be lieve these crappers are all over the place. Wes always say 1 in 50 to come on and tell of the encounter they had. People who don’t want to believe are the ones in the dark, you have seen it and you know, and my conclusion is, don’t go back in the woods until YOU are ready and then stay with the group. No games. Thanks.

Wow, this poor guy! You can hear the fear in his voice.
As woman, I think it is really telling when a guy is so shaken by one of these encounters, because we think that guys are sometimes so much more impervious to being scared ( NOT!!) That said, I know that even the toughest of guys feel fear and can be shaken to the core. It’s something that put you in fear for your life, and that is no different from male to female- fearing for your life is fearing for your life, period.
I broke my collarbone when I was 16, and it takes a lot for you to get up from a seated position, let alone run for your life- that’s adrenaline for you.
??? I feel for this guy. Yikes!

Relax! Everyday you were ever in the woods ever, they were already there. If you were hunted, we wouldn’t be having this awesome conversation. Sharks are what have lead me to think Bigfoot could totally exist. As a SCUBA diver from south Florida for 30 years, there are sharks everywhere, all the time. If you have gone swimming in Florida, you have been with sharks. They know you are there every time, and they usually stay away. Most people have no idea what is just outside of site. Areal footage will show you schools of sharks patrolling the shores, avoiding bathers in wide arcs. How do they Know how far to stay away from us? They too are masters of their environment. It took me a while realize an eye-to eye 12′ hammerhead encounter could have easily been it. Total environmental supremacy. As helpless as block of wood bobbing in a bath tub. Bait. But I wasn’t on the menu. Its just like that. No other reason. Push back in your head. You were not on the menu.

First of all, thank you for sharing your encounter Wayne. Sorry your encounter wasnt well received by the first individuals you told. Hope sharing it with Wes and everyone out here helps. A home run Wes as far as I am concerned. Not just a great, but horrifying, encounter interview but also a great conversation between two individuals who have shared experiences with these creatures few have and the after effects of it.

John B’s comment is a good one to consider and applicable to an extent. The difference being the public at large has known about the existence of sharks and, whether consciously or subconsciously, makes a cost-benefit analysis on whether or not to scuba, snorkel, surf, etc.,
From the perspective of someone who has not had an encounter with a cryptid, but has witnessed a UFO at a close distance from me, my experience shocked me to the core and caused me to re-evaluate my belief system(s). Just a glance down the rabbit hole pulls anyone who isn’t on an automatic drip of the government’s toxic koolaid further down a path searching for truths about the world in which we live. Christopher Columbus wasn’t the first to discover America, the Men in Black do exist, what’s this about the Reptilians, the CIA and MK Ultra, and underground military bases, chem trails, and black ops budgets & how does it connect to The Illuminati and what does David Icke mean when he speaks of Perception; Deception. You Can’t Unring The Bell. Truth IS stranger than fiction. There is no shame in searching for truths; only in not asking questions about what you are told.

I don’t go where the sharks live, and I don’t go where sasquatsch lives and I hope to God that neither land sharks or city dwelling sasquatch doesn’t decide to come into mine! The more I hear, the more I realize how little I know… We actually do live in the Twilight Zone! I wish you the best and remember, there are many, many people like myself who have never had an encounter but through self educating ourselves, we now know the truth about their existence. I get frightened just hearing these stories. I actually get an upset stomach! But can’t stop listening night after night.

An encounter of any type seems like a short circuit to square one. At that precise moment the ice starts to creep and the muscles around each hair follicle feel like a starry night on your scalp, you are at the tip of a pin. What next? Like when your dive light goes off in the corner of an underwater cave…that is BLACK. Were you compelled? Frozen? To? Away? Kill? Communicate? Your head is screaming- but what?? This is the root of civilization. Are you a builder or a destroyer? Its a numbing joke that we have evolved to isolate each other, starve each other… fear has molded civilization. Fear of other. What would you do? What did you do? What is courage? What is strength? What is your right? That’s what is sooo badass about the Chronicles. Its like stories of our origin as seen though hundreds of eyes…. people that have made it off the pin.

  12. Scott D

Scary encounter. I’ve been in that area many times. My brother in law lived there and never had anything happen, I asked him, But, it is downright creepy at dusk. This guy is still being affected by this, you could hear it in his voice. I believe him.

  13. Don O

Thank you, Wayne, for sharing that encounter. I appreciate the guts it took to tell your story. I also appreciate Wes for providing an outlet for folks like you who have a traumatic experience with these things. There are so few people that you can relate to once something like that happens, I know. It’s like being alone with something that won’t stop eating at you until someone…..anyone….really listens to you and takes it seriously. It only adds to the stress that you are already under, and most people don’t realize that. Here at Sasquatch Chronicles, people aren’t laughing, they seem to be listening and taking this shit seriously. As everyone should. Good luck to you in the future….I sincerely hope you can find your way past this and learn to enjoy the wilderness again. Take care.

I Understand how these Feral People are very Large. But You have to Put yourself’s on IT’S Footprints. Just like the Episode where the Hunter shot one of these Things with a 22 Pistol. They ARE Feral. to say Wild. They do not have Medicine , to fight off Infection. So even if it does Get You ? If it was Wounded in the Process ? Then that wouldn’t be worth the Effort – Almost a Suicide attempt.
They do Not have Hospitals to go to. I am sure even if you only had Firecrackers ? You could hold one of these Things at Bay.

  15. SantiamLady

?Wow!!! Terrifying encounter! Wayne recounted it sooooo well, that I could feel his terror! ? It was visceral. I felt like I was right there, fleeing for my life right beside him! And to get up and run with a fractured clavicle and drooping-flopping shoulder?! ? Like Wes said, pure adrenaline, in a race for your very life! Horrifying! ?

I used to play nocturnal hide and seek games like that when I was a teenager. Only we played on horseback. So if confronted by the big guy like Wayne was, I might have had a better chance to escape. My horse was fearless and very fast, but you never know! ??

Ironically, as I write this, after listening to Wayne’s horrifying encounter, my hubby and I are in our truck-camper, laying over before heading out at 5am on a out of State Bigfoot searching excursion! ????? I’ll be sticking close to the camper at night! That’s for sure! Thanks for sharing your encounter with us, Wayne. And Wes, thanks for being such a great host who is always so kind and gentle with his traumatized guests. You are awesome, sir. Keep it up!
Oh, and I too loved the 80s music as a lead in! Perfect song for the story being told! ???

  16. Sunny N

Thank you for having the bravery to tell your story. I know going back out into the woods is forever changed, but try not to let fear beat you. go prepared forbear ect. Hugs and prayers for you.

  17. david a

Wayne- you have just told your story to a whole lot of people here who do believe you and we do not think it was a bear. Even if most of us have never seen one ourselves, we are on this site because we know something is out there and it sounds like you saw that something.

  18. L S

Terrifying. Glad he escaped that horror movie. I can’t imagine his peeps not asking him about it. He’s obviously been deeply affected by what he experienced out there and it’s really changed him. I’m sure that’s got to be obvious to the people around him. How can they just brush it off and not talk to him about it? I don’t understand that. Wes, you’re awesome. You were downright heroic in how kind and understanding and encouraging you were to him and are all your guests. You’re just an awesome human being. It gave me chills (just like the terrifying encounter did, but in a happy way. LOL.)

  19. Blanche D

Very spooky, looking into the wood and thinking you can see something, then seeing something, then a frickin huge sassy steps out. My head would have exploded and I would defo piss my pants.
