SC EP:154 My Hunting Trip

Tonight I speak to Mike who is from Idaho and describes a strange encounter he had with a Sasquatch while out on a hunting trip. Mike just returned from active service and went on a family hunting trip when their tent was pushed over the men stepped out of the fallen tent to see a creature about 30 feet away. Mike said “I had no idea what it was, it ran off and I gave chase”

Totally believable. I can’t imagine why anyone would chase after sasquatch, but his explanation is understandsble. He was young then & just out of the Marines. After so many stories i would not want to get close to a squatch.

A bit random yet again guys, but I read something earlier that definitely peaked my curiosity. Are the cryptids that we are encountering, sasquatch, dogman, etc., possibly animals that we as humanity considered extinct but were not?? I’m not exactly sold on it but it’s thought provoking nonetheless. Are they unclassified undiscovered animals or are they previously classified animals that we foolishly assumed dwindled into extinction?? That’s the million dollar question right there

Interesting encounter- good show. I hope Mike stops chasing them-no doubt it could turn into an ugly scene in an instant. Would like to see pics of those structures…

Think about this. Think about what! Think about how humans don’t chase squatch, they chase us. What were you thinking. Ran 400 yards, that is 3 football fields and then some. SURE!!!!!

    • Brian M

Janetta, I’m not sure if you’re expressing doubt about running 400 yards, but if you are then you’ve probably never been a highly trained marine, a cross country runner, or a young man full of testosterone.

When do we get a cup to buy….been waiting. .We said he would. …We Needs a good man helping him into the movies Hollywood thing and off you go you have a orppertaty situation here bro ..hope you font get burned in this business. .I know people that can help you….I am going to put a team together and shot one take it out with a chopper overhead….u will see…

Cross country runner, Marine, or Olympic sprinter, nobody could keep pace with one of these creatures, not unless it wanted you to.
The Sasquatch was obviously toying with him or leading him into an ambush situation as speculated.

    Another good show.
    Thanks!

    Hey Wes,

To quote Wes Germer “I can’t thank you enough” for such a cool Show. Laundry is piling up, the yards a mess but I’m getting caught up on the episodes. I got a couple witnesses that I get together with and we discuss the show. Lots of fun man. Gotta renew my membership pretty soon too. Thanks for everything!!

  7. Robert W

Would agree with Wes…. He is taking chances by doing what he is doing. Gifting with marbles, and bringing inexperienced people with him in the field. Be careful Mike.

I am new to this website. Can anyone tell me where or how to look up images or pictures which the guests and Wes refer to on the podcasts ? I don’t see a link anywhere.

Squatch eat almost anything & appears to be an omnivore, just as bears are, so I don’t doubt that they do eat people. I’m much more afraid to go camping now in areas where there are big foot. Was in Yosemite this summer & nighttime creeps me out. And we have kids with us. I also believe they can shape shift…

  10. Papa - Yeti

Hello Mike, I am Papa – Yeti on S.C. forums, I believe your encounter Mike, but then disproving or debunking peoples encounters / attacks is not my interest, I had spent five years in the mountain ranges of northern Idaho. Mike be careful, as you were perhaps being led into the dense forest for a ‘bushwhack’ done and over and things happen very fast.

-Your three most vulnerable times for a attack upon you, will most likely be while you’re sleeping, when you step of the trail to take care of you bowel evacuations, or while you are highly focused upon gutting our and skinning a deer, or elk. The Sasquatch / UBE’s will know your vulnerable / not alert times.

-I highly recommend that you read of two encounters, one is of a Military team of elite, that were on a navigational training mission and not one of them were carrying live rounds. By the end of tracking the huge Sasquatch, the team leader had determined that the creature they were tracking though deep snow in remote Alaska was running in an evasive mode, where it knew it was being hunted, so it’s course was of its avoiding trekking out into open meadows, it was staying within the tree lines, the team broke off the pursuit when the creature screamed out filling the valley with its voice. These are very alert and they are complex thinkers. They are not animals Mike; they are very close to Human – like.

-Also Mike, there was another encounter in the Oregon Cascades volcanic region, not far from here, there was mention of another tree structure / where the witness climb up crawled up a tree to the top of the tree gathered trees, which were gathers and laid inward crude tee pee like which an opening at the top, all dragged up through the muddy meadows, these huge trees were heaped. And down within, was a creature vigorously digging away, excavating the hard moist ground with a wooden spear / shaft. If it was in fact a Trap / holding pen, it would be impossible for any captured game of human to be able to escape from within.

-Mike in your mentioning of bring your son along with you, that scares me, I know you’re ex marine, but do consider the size choice of the caliber for your weapons. In going back here pertaining to the tree structure the creature was busy excavating, it could have been a birthing den, a fortified den. Or it could have been a holding pen for captured prey. Seriously think that over before you continue to explore structures, especially if you’re -bring your son along. Mike, are you a paid active member here on Sasquatch Chronicles? Let me know, if so I will search out those two separate encounter episodes of which you really should read before you continue your investigation of dens / tree structures.

-I am not familiar with Lowman area, it is western border, and below Lewiston? But I am familiar with the climate and the mountains of northern Idaho; I have survived hell and delirium of hyperthermia (It was an unseen mistake). / And the onset of frost bite, while Kayaking a newly thawed lake with a hard head wind and an aluminum shaft double blade paddle, and the unexpected wind –chill factor almost took my fingers. Be careful out there Mike.

To let you know, I’m not payed for anything. I use to be a person that you name the animal and if it was in Idaho I could show it to
you. That was even before the fish game brought in wolves. There was wolves.

  11. Papa - Yeti

I encountered a lot of awesome things while there, but in five years time, I never even found a (BF) foot print, or heard a scream for a Bigfoot day or night, never came across deer with wound up broken legs and a snapped neck. My ex wife she had a Wolf, it would encircle my little girls while they were out walking to protect them. I suppose if I was a cattleman or had sheep, I would think differently upon the matter of Wolves, acting and being as they were born to be. But to tell you now, that If I had known then what I have learned from the Encounters told here upon Sasquatch Chronicles, I would have never spent all those night in those mountains, at least not without a Henry 45 / 70 guide gun and a hell of a lot of bullets. I laugh now because one of the guys I use to mountain climb with, at times, he carried a tiny .32 Buretta, rolled up in a sock and at the bottom of his backpack. Me, a lot of times just a clanging tin cup and a small cowbell clipped outside of my Pack. ‘Here Mr. Bear, here Mr. Sasquatch I am a juicy bovine just walking through this meadow, nibbling grass… If I had the knowledge which I do now, I would have been gripping a Henry 45 /70 lever action in my sleep.

I just joined and would like to view the photos on this blog but cannot seem to find where to “click” to view them. Any guidance will be greatly appreciated!

Hey Mike, great encounter! I grew up in Eastern Idaho on the Wyoming border, between Idaho Falls and Jackson Hole. I have hunted Idaho all my life and left for the military right after High School. I moved back to Idaho back in 2010 and have been a member of Sasquatch Chronicles now for over a year. Today I was going thru previous episodes that I missed and realized that your encounter happened near Lowman. My dad had a gold claim on the Payette river just outside of Lowman and we used to spend summers there. I am in the process of moving to Boise this summer and would love to check out the area that you had the encounter. I have always heard of stories the old trappers used to tell me about such encounters here in Idaho and I have been out camping deep in the woods and have heard things, such as screams and had sticks and rocks been tossed onto the trail in front of me. I hope to get in touch with you and hear more of your encounter. Thanks!

Weren’t there sketches done by this gentleman that were posted? I just listened today and I remember Wes mentioning that the sketch creeped him out and that he posted it..

  15. L S

This guy had pliers in the woods to pull a marble inbeded in a stump out. How can you grip an imbeded marble with pliers?

I wouldn’t call fhis guy’s story telling style humble or terribly accurate.

  16. craig d

LS suppose it could be one of those multi tool pliers n not the flat nose type. I try my best to accept these accounts n not be too quick to dismiss as remember not everyone is comfortable on radio type interviews.
Folks be nervous and make lill mistakes.
