The Moehau is a New Zealand cryptid. Described as a large, hairy hominid cryptid in the Coromandel-Moehau ranges of New Zealand’s North Island.

Nz has no fossil record of any primates and was separated from Australia 85 million years ago . We have no large natural mammals all our large mammals were introduced types like cattle. deer.ect . We did have very large flightless birds called Moa the large ones were over 10 feet tall ,there were several sizes of these birds but they all all became extinctic with the arrival of man .Sorry but the facts just dont stack up that it is possible for us to have such a creature . Given that we know hominids have only been around 2.5 ish million years and we have be isolated way longer than that and the closest land is 1200 miles away i doubt any could cross from Australia and arrive in any number able to sustain a viable population .
