Not a bear

A listener writes “I’m a 53 year old construction guy, former marine, and seminary grad (how’s that for an intro). I was hoping to get your input on a possible sighting here in Spotsylvania, Virginia.

This past Friday I was driving home from work and took the back roads home because I had to drop off my laborer at his house. After I dropped him off, I was driving the last stretch of road (he lives about 35 miles away and we work on n. Virginia/DC area). Anyway, I was driving down post oak road, about 3 miles away from my house and as I was coming down the road, I saw this… I don’t quite know how to put it into words… a sasquatch, woodbooger… maybe something else. Basically I was driving through this part of the road that goes woods-farm-woods-farm with a few houses tossed in here and there and right at the wooded patch, this thing comes out of the woods and crosses the street faster than I’ve ever seen something move. It was one step, two steps and gone in the blink of an eye. Kind of a dark mocha with a hint of red/orange. Not a bear. This thing was probably 8 or 9ft tall I’m guessing because it ruffled the overhanging branches as it crossed the road. . The only real physical description I can give aside from the height and color is that the hair on the underside of his arms was extremely long and it looked thick. The area it came from was wooded, a 3 foot bank dropped off to the road and back up another 3 foot bank and over a 4ft farm fence.

As the crow flies, I’m maybe 3/4 to a mile through the woods from my house to the road.”

Sure would be great if you could come on the show. Don’t know why but I wonder if you haven’t lived there long to see them before or if you have lived there for awhile and maybe this guy is following the deer as they move around during the rut. Thanks for sharing your story with us.
