Mothman Festival

18th annual Mothman Festival
SEPTEMBER 21 , 22 2019

Mothman Festival is an annual event held every third weekend in September that commemorates the 1966 Point Pleasant, West Virginia Mothman sighting, which gave birth to the infamous red-eyed winged legend. People from all over the world gather around our charming Main Street to celebrate their favorite cryptid during this one of a kind event.

I have gone to that event and it was a lot of fun. The best part was that I got to speak to three local eyewitnesses and they were so interesting. One lady was very elderly and perhaps doesn’t participate now, but she was very interesting. She also spoke about numerous people seeing UFOs during that same time. I had never spoken to eyewitnesses before and it really changes your ideas. I asked her if she saw a UFO herself and she said, “Honey we all did.” “The UFOs opened up like roses and were the most beautiful colors.” She said that she felt sorry for the Mothman because he looked so sad. They were all local people with no reason to lie. It is not a big money event. We also got to tour the former military TNT area. I don’t think that they allow that anymore, which is just as well as I felt like I got three diseases just walking through the area. It was a green, swampy, dead place. If Mothman was a mutant, it could have happened there. If you go, there is a park nearby with a beautiful view of the river.
