Wolf, I just finished reading the entire collection, great stuff! I like how you are accurately portraying behaviors of both humans and the BF’s. It’s been keeping me on the edge of my seat. Thank you very much!

Wolf, we are having a sudden heat wave. 2 ft. of snow on the ground and 42 F. Rather pleasant. But I live at 7,200 elev. The higher mountains have 4-6 ft. of snow. Makes the skiers happy and brings $ to town.

Wolf, thanks for posting these. I will read as time permits. We’ve been getting some big snow events in SW Colorado and I’m busy with snow plowing and shoveling. Plus getting acquainted with my new non-electric pellet stove. We just went through some single digit temps. Some nearby places have had some -20 F nights. The drill this time of year is plow snow and keep warm.

TCM, I’ve heard of copy cat sirens, back up beepers and train whistles coming out of the woods.

Cone head with a twig stuck in the hair? The last image looks like the forest floor.

A good (affordable) booger rifle is a modern 45-70. The .375 H&H is a longer cartridge (although adequate), but realizing that fewer rounds can be stuffed into a tube magazine. There are a lot of larger calibers perfectly suitable for box magazines. In my opinion, I think semi-auto and lever rifles can cycle much faster than bolt actions.

I apologize to the readers for taking this thread off subject and into a weapons discussion. There are ample firearms threads already on this forum, so back on subject.

This is an interesting read on some large and dangerous game rifles. Some of the modern calibers should be fitted with a quality muzzle break and recoil pad to reduce punishing recoil. I’ve come to appreciate the Remington Super Cell recoil pads. The lighter weight sporting rifles would have an advantage over a 25 pound .50 BMG when it comes to extended carrying and swinging on target for fast moving animals.

@ TCM The DM are serious business. Don’t bother with 9mm or 5.56 NATO rounds. The other team at Taylor turned A DM from attack with a .338 Lapua, It took 4 hits and still got away. And if you mix it up with them, they will seek revenge.

The other recent DM attack up in New York State took a 12 GA slug, blew off it’s pectoral muscle and still kept coming.

The Michigan attack took several 30-06 rounds in the chest and it didn’t go down. I’m not sure, but I think the rounds were ballistic tips, a big game hunting round.

I think it’s gonna take a 50 BMG loaded with Barnes solid copper expanding rounds that retain 98% of the bullet weight. Or M79 or M82 grenade launcher in close quarters. One would want multiple round capability in pump or semi-auto platform. And lots of team players, solo would be not good.

Another option may be a SAW (squad automatic weapon) in 7.62/.308 loaded up with barnes solid copper rounds.

Myself, I don’t prefer the spray and pray weapons, but one shot, one kill discipline.

The DM attack in Georgia on a sleeping hunter took 6 rounds of .357 pistol in the mouth and head, point blank, and 7 rounds from a .44 mag lever action hunting rifle before it turned and ran off.

Be very careful out there brothers.

Welcome TCM. Are you people gonna take nuisance dogman calls? Taylor Mississippi has some history, recent also.
