Not sure about around Bham, but I’m episode 203 down towards Alex city. I fully believe they could run the whole Cahaba. Perfect habitat
In my intitial encounter around my vacation home when I was alone, the whole encounter began by a light single tree knock, very soft, and then other single knocks further way, much louder. Also since have found where a sentinel is constantly positioned and will most always bang on some sheet metal or something similar when I pass by the location on foot. Other walkers occasionally pass by but their intent is clear, just on a stroll.
If it’s close proximity, and an imminent threat, the head/mouth shot is going to be the stopping shot or shots. A monster round means zero if u miss first with a bolt action and other big guys around. If u are shooting from distance, where the danger is greatly diminished, big stick all day. There is just not much of a imiinet danger self-defense element with range involved. A big bolt gun would work if u were a freshly retired Delta Force Sniper. Generally speaking
Off subject but they are fully aware of the outdoor nv security cameras width and range. They will crawl right underneath them against the side of the house, have woods cover to begin approach, to lay below the back steps and peer in the back door for hours at night. Have a crummy Walmart camera indoors pointing out where I can see them peeking, pic quality is crap. Going to put out a more powerful indoor camera facing out the back door. Will see what happens
I have hit them pretty close with a green iprotec strobe and they didn’t like it all and moved away. Also have used a cheap green laser, very bright, from inside the house. Point and pan out the glass portion of the back door to the cover they approach and observe from at night when I know they are there. Seems to send them packing
Cheap iprotec green light flashlight with strobe function will stop them immediately. Also cheap green laser sight from amazon works like a charm. You can use it like a flashlight. For the home multiple cheap game cams as stated before facing in multiple directions, they will not get in front of them. Not speculation, has worked for me at least.

Dealing with it right now on a consistent basis. Very unsettling to say the least. Keeping the shutters closed currently but they still come up an try to peer through the cracks. Usually just flash them through the shutters with a powerful flashlight and they stop for the night. Though many hours of lost sleep
