A listener writes “Had multiple encounters in the Daniel Boone National Forest in the 90’s. I think it’s still a hotspot but most people won’t talk about it. Most of my encounters were brief except for one. I had a bear walking towards me and one came running down the mountain and actually chased the bear off. I was walking back down a gravel road as my car was broke down.
It actually jumped into the road, slid in the gravel before coming to a complete stop. Turned towards me and bluff charged me twice to push me out of the area. It was 7.5 to 8 fat tall, browns oh red with white hair which made me think it was an older one.
Right before it turned towards me I could see it looked like it had “road rash” on the back of its left shoulder. You could see it had hair missing as it looked scabbed over. Kinda like the aftermath of sliding in gravel while wearing shorts for us. There are a lot more details about that encounter but too many to type up.”

Happy new year Wes and welcome back! It sounds like you’re working on lining up some great guests. I’m glad you had some downtime but I’m also looking forward to my Friday night rendezvous with SC!

Oh please try to get this person on the show! Would love to hear more details.

Sounds like an awesome interview could be done. Thanks Wes!

Look like a whole lot of folks contacted you during the Holidays and have some awesome tales to tell. Going to be a busy 2022, good for us.

Living very close to DNB I would love to hear more from this listener..
I’ve mine own stories to tell..The DNB is a wild place and not many people go very deep there…
I feel like there are many stories to be told …however most Kentuckians are very reluctant to speak out for fear of ridicule…its a damn shame.

A number of the Kentuckians I spoke with at the conference also said that it was just a part of life, fact not fiction, so it wasn’t always reported or talked about like an unexpected event. Can’t imagine.
