Upcoming Show: It shook me to my core

A listener writes “I’m an Army Veteran, a husband, father, and a great admirer of the outdoors. I have always loved hunting and fishing since I was a young kid going with my dad. I always had an interest in supernatural things my entire young life and have had a lot of different experiences growing up that showed me that things aren’t so cut and dry in the world that we inhabit.

That being said, I was never really a believer in the phenomena known as bigfoot or sasquatch growing up. I thought it was an interesting thing to read about and completely put it in the category of things that just could never exist in the real world. I thought that things like this were just stories that people made up and passed down to scare kids and keep them from wandering to far from home, or to keep them inside when the streetlights would come on. I spent a lot of time in the woods growing up building Tipi’s out of sticks, pretending to survive eating wild onions, and taking my BB gun out and making the local bird and squirrel population fear for their lives with friends. For as much time as we spent in the woods as kids, we never had any experiences that would have led me to believe there was such a thing like bigfoot in the world. In high school a couple of friends and I liked to go coyote hunting at night in the mountains above my friends’ home. We had gone multiple times and never had much action; we would usually go up just for the thrill of going if I’m going to be honest.

There was something exciting about being so deep in the woods at night with only a flashlight and a gun. On one occasion three of us decided to try out a different location a little bit farther up the mountain on a trail we never really went up to hunt before, some guys that leased land off of my friend’s grandfather had an impromptu blind built out of old fallen timber and we thought it would be a perfect spot to drive his 4×4 mule up to sit and do some predator calls to see what we could do. We drove up the trail and parked about 30 yards from the blind and got all of our things situated. We maneuvered to the blind quietly and squeezed into the small makeshift structure. We decided that one person would face down the mountain and to his left side of the blind, the middle person would rotate between up the mountain and down and the person by the entrance (myself) would face up and to his left side of the blind. It was a pretty steep and rocky-ish area where we were located not so steep that you were looking straight up the mountain. It was almost perfect visibility that night, the moon was shining fairly bright enough that after your eyes adjusted you could see relatively well. We were waiting about 25 minutes after settling in to start using a distressed rabbit call and called on and off for about 5 minutes or so, we waited another 40 minutes in complete silence before my friend in the middle tapped me on the shoulder and whispered, “Hey man I see something.” He pointed and I followed his finger up to a large tree with some vines hanging from it. It took me a second to make out anything strange he would be seeing but just when I was going to ask him what he saw I could see a large silhouette standing just off to the left of the large tree approx. 50-60 yards away from where we were standing. I stared at it for what seemed like forever, but it couldn’t have been more than 15 seconds.

I couldn’t believe what I was looking at, I turned to tap my friend watching down the mountain on the shoulder to get him to look and see if I was seeing things I told him, “Hey, dude I see something by this tree up here take a look and tell me if you see it too.” by the time we all turned back to the tree there was nothing there. We never even heard a sound. How could something that large not make a single sound? I was filled with this overwhelming feeling of dread at this moment and could just feel that something was off. I explained that I saw something standing by the tree that I didn’t know what it was, we all became very uncomfortable for about 10-15 minutes more before we decided to leave the spot and retreat back down the mountain. On the way down my first friend that tapped me on the shoulder asked exactly what I saw, he couldn’t quite make out what he was seeing but he felt that something was there.

I was visibly shaken a bit but explained that what I saw was a dark figure accented against the backside of the mountain standing slightly off almost leaning around the tree staring straight at us. It had huge broad shoulders and very long arms I couldn’t quite make out the head exactly, but it barely had a neck. It was head, traps and shoulders straight down to arms. It’s right arm was hanging straight down, and I assume the left arm was behind the tree it was attempting to peek out from. There was some brush in front of the tree as well so past the right thigh-ish area I couldn’t make out through the undergrowth.

It messed with me for days after and I wouldn’t really say anything to anyone. My mother noticed something was off with me and kept pressing me to talk, she finally had enough and asked me what the hell did I do? I explained the whole story to her and to my relief she actually believed me. I was so scared to even talk about it for a long time because of the ridicule that people get for these types of things. To this day I rarely hunt alone, and I am very vigilant when I enter the forest. For years after the incident, I wouldn’t even go into the woods. I don’t know what I saw in the woods that night, but what I can tell you is that it was very large, broad, 7-8-foot-tall bipedal creature that was staring straight at me, and it shook me to my core.”

I have been a paying member since the beginning. This podcast has more missed episodes, than any other to which I subscribe, for the flimsiest reasons. Shows were promised on Monday and Tuesday but, nothing, not even an explanation. If you have plumbing issues call a plumber. If you can’t handle the technical issues hire somebody that can help you. If you are sick or have jet lag have some shows on the shelf waiting for these occasions. Please put a higher priority on providing the content we pay for. I still love your podcast more than any other.

@All ~ There are hundreds of episodes on this site, many of which you’ve probably never taken the time to listen to. During this time, you could humor yourself like everyone else does.

There are hundreds of other than this sites episodes, in his blog, with excellent content, many of which you’ve never listened to either.

With all this content plus a forum, what’s the problem? For $7.00 a month you guys are being rude at friend (Wes), who happens to be the best interviewer on the web in this genre.

Really? Someone said you better do this or else. What’s that mean? That you’ll leave the site?

Stop threatening Wes and try to relate to his predicament. When he started this podcast there were many less people here than now. Apparently the site crashed and he has/had to work on it. Can’t you relate to that? SC is more than a podcast. We’re all friends who support Wes. And by the way, will continue to support Wes.

Really, I can’t believe grown ass men act like this. Grow up already & give Wes some support. Or I can offer you some some whaa-burgers and some french-cries?

      Whatever!

To the snarky commenters, poor things. Your car ever break down? You ever have a flat tire to find your spare is flat? Ever have to walk 15 miles back to the gas station? I doubt it. Perfect people dont have thise issues.

Ever have to call in sick with a nasty boss? If so, did he/she ever give you a hard time? Ever have a negative life experience at all? Or were you pansy asses just born with silver $7 spoons in your mouths. Hehe

Wes does more in five minutes for people with his hands tied behind his back than you’ll do in a lifetime. Get over it.
