A listener writes “I wanted to share an experience that my friend Ken, his girlfriend, and I had while camping on BLM land in Michigan in 2019. It remains one of the most unusual encounters I’ve ever had, and the only way I can describe it is as a possible adolescent Sasquatch sighting.
Shortly after setting up camp along an overgrown vehicle trail, we began hearing distinct tree knocks. The sounds were deep, deliberate, and unlike the random noises of branches settling or falling. Ken and I tried to recreate them using both fallen sticks and freshly broken branches, but no matter what we tried, we couldn’t produce the same deep, resonant sound. Eventually, we stopped trying and dismissed it as part of the surrounding forest.
On our second to last day at camp, we were sitting around the campfire when we saw something suddenly drop from a tree roughly 50 feet away. It landed upright on two legs, turned its upper body toward us as if to look in our direction, and then sprinted into the woods. Ken immediately wanted to investigate, but judging by its height approximately 5’7″ to 5’9″ I thought it might have been a juvenile.
When we finally went to inspect the spot, we found a distinct impression in the ground where it had landed. Out of curiosity, I tried jumping in the same area myself, but I couldn’t reproduce the depth or shape of the depression.
We broke camp the following day, and to this day, I do not know exactly what fell out of that tree and ran.”
