I saw the face

A listener writes “I am a retired from the US Army. While I was stationed in California my son and I went on a Bigfooting Expedition in October of 2010 in No Cal near the Klamath River.

My son who was only 7 at the time was with me. This was our first and only time Bigfooting. I’m pretty sure both my son and I were hit with infrasound. I’m sure that the animal in question was attempting to prey on my son and I am absolutley positive had I not been armed me, my son , and the lady who was with us on the trail we were investigating would have been dead.

I found this group through a friend who knew I was interested in Sasquatch. My friend introduced me to this group and because I am an Army Ranger who had access to FLIR and Night Vision they couldnt invite me to their next expedition fast enough. I took a 12 gauge mossberg and my Colt 1911 with me because I wont go into any mountain lion / bear / illegal pot grower area unarmed. I also brought my nods and thermal viewer from my companys arms room with me. When I got to the Expedition area and met up with these folks they were happy to see my technology but not my firearms. I was not too keen on leaving my guns in my truck but i did manage to sneak my 1911 in with my vest and concealed holster.

The Encounter: There were 10 of us on this expedition including my son and I. First night was uneventful. The second morning my I went with one of the group leaders a lady named Melissa to check our camera traps. My son was with us and like any 7 year old boy he was about 40 yards ahead of us. He came up to a thicket of briars and stopped in his tracks. I knew something was wrong when he fell over in his tracks. I ran to him when I got there I noticed he had wet himself and was in a trance. Suddenly I was confused and sick to my stomach. I looked up and no more than 10 yards away concealed in the thicket I saw the face of the animal. I was completely confused but somehow managed to fire my 1911 in the air. This seemed to wake me up and I was able to pick my kid up and get the hell back to our campsite. Melissa was affected differently as she was terrified beyond belief and I had to drag her the 2 miles back to camp as well. Needless to say we left as I wanted to get my boy looked at. There is a whole lot more to this incident but I dont like to write /type.”

Sounds terrifying. The agency I work for has a very strict “no children” policy at field sites for this very reason. Kids are naturally curious. They like to explore. Granted, our underwriters are concerned with known predators rather than Sasquatch, but the sentiment is the same. Glad it all worked out.

Can you please explain to me how you can simply walk into a company arms room. Sign out a pair NODS and FLIR googles worth tens of thousands of dollar for your personal use??? I’m pretty sure that’s not how it works. Either you worked in the Arms Room and snuck them out or you had a friend in there who let you “Access them” for the weekend.

This is a fascinating (yet terrible) encounter. There are some very interesting details he speaks of- I, for one, would love to hear the whole story but there aren’t too many (if any) times I pass up an encounter lol ?

I bet that group leader (Melissa) changed her mind abt going unarmed on future expeditions, if she ever went again, after you drug her back to camp! Would like to hear your story on the show.

I grew up in WA, and OR and have never been on an official Sasquatch hunt, it sounds like an adventure! I have now lived in Alaska 38 years and hunted, fished, hiked, snowmachined deep into the wilderness, and at 57 still do, and on dirt bikes (places we have gone in too would make your head swim) while i have never seen a Sasquatch or any signs of one yet, I am always looking! I am of the same conviction and belief of our guest here tonight, my friends and I would never go into the wilds alone, we are always prepared to defend ourselves and fight to the death any of the (large shaggy beasts) that lurk with in the shadows of the far north. most of our exploring is done during the summer and we have lots of light so the use of high tech NV is of no real help to any of us. But if i was living down in the lower 48, I would with out fail acquire high quality NV gear be it civilian or military grade period. It’s one thing to be within 10 yards of a 900 pound bear, or find yourself being sized up by six 200 pound wolves probable more as there is two more in the tree line you didn’t see, and owh did metion this is all in broad daylight and you can see how small you really are. Yes there is terror and some times the pee has come out. I am at a loss to comprehend why an indivual would put him or herself in to that type of situation at night with a known canibalistic predator that has every advantage over the human. Those people should empty there day pack of trail mix and chocolats, and start carrying bacon, or smoked fish.

I find this guy’s reasoning abilities to be lacking. A 7 year old going out into the woods that deep? Taking him out there with a group of people he had never been out with before? Taking taxpayer funded equipment out there without proper authority? Has “Bigfoot” hunting really become a past time that you take your young children on? Terribly messed up thinking. No wonder the government is covering up the creature’s existence. The fools that have no common sense that would go out there seeking them is unthinkable. Over the past 40+ years the American population has been almost completely dumbed down through the ruined educational system and the media. If these cryptids wanted to commune with humanity they would not be living as far out in the wilderness as possible.
