I Could Not Move

A listener writes “This incident happened in September of 2008. I was on I84 in Oregon. I had pulled Into the weigh station in Farewell bed to find a parking spot. Alas, it was all full, so I continued west.

I stopped a few exits past and found a gravel lot in which to park. Ot was about 10pm when I did park. There was no other trucks or cars there. There was a closed (out of business) diner across the road and I could see a house up a hill in the distance (couple hundred yards). It was totally dark. No moon, no lights. The only light was from the house up the hill.

I do remember peeing on my tire before bed. I did fall asleep in the sleeper berth and my curtains covered the front windshield and the side windows.

I was fully loaded close to 80,000 lbs. So my truck was HEAVY. I was awoken to a hard thump on the passenger side of my sleeper. I thought another truck backed into me. As I jumped out of bed and started pulling my clothes on, the whole truck started rocking. Imagine if you will, a group of football players trying to shake a smart car. My truck was ROCKING. I almost pulled open the curtain the see what dumbass was repeatedly backing into my truck…

…then I heard the scream. It was as loud as a freight train and was long. I was completely terrified… I have never heard anything like it..I jumped back into my bed and curled up as far away from that side as I could. I could not move, I could barely breath.

After about an hour of total silence, I started the truck, pulled the curtains back and hauled ass out of there. I was to scared to get out.

I sat there shaking and the truck shook a couple more times. It stopped as suddenly as it started. I still just sat there and shivered. I am 6’3″ and a former Marine. I do not back down from anything or anyone. I have never been more scared in my life.

Upon further reflection, the way the truck was shaking, it would have had to have been being pushed from closer to the top of the 13″6 sleeper. Just like trying to shake a van, its easier to move it closer from the top, than at the bottom. I did try to shake my truck at a different time, and I could not duplicate what happened to my truck.”

Very scarey. My husband was sitting in the dark in the cab of his pickup once and something was screaming outside the truck, it got louder and louder; all at once, something hit or pushed it so that it rocked, and it felt like something jumped into the bed of his truck. My husband has been around the world 3 times in the Navy and has had lots of challenging stuff happen, he said this was one of the scariest things that has ever happened to him.
