I remember 15 years ago or more that a Mexican researcher named Jose Escamilla was conducting extensive research into this phenomena. All sorts for theories came about, especially alien life. Jose and others were able to catch these in flight by slowing the camera motion, but they did not seem visable to the naked eye. Others did research studies that put out nets and slow motion photography showed the rods entering nets. Upon inspection of the nets only moths and other flying insects were found. It was labeled as an optical illusion of slowing the camera recordings. I have no idea, but sure do not hear much about them anymore.

It has something to do with the insect wing speed and the camera speed creating an optical illusion. It’s just bugs.

Sorry, but IMHO this is a moth or some other nocturnal flying insect.
