A listener writes “I grew up and live in the mountains of western north carolina. I became interested in the phenomenon after remembering/ reconsidering some past experiences from boys scouts. A year ago I started looking around noticing structures and breaks. I also some heard strange things a few times while was out. My latest encounter was by far the most extreme. Around midnight, a couple friends and I went up a mountain which I had been investigating and knew had a very large bush craft tree shelter at the top.
We hooped and howled, banged on trees, broke branches, and did the classic “bigfoot hunt”. We were actually making quite a ruckus and made it very clear why we were up there. It was mainly just to have some fun and none of us actually expected for anything to happen.. but I can see why we may have been perceived as a threat After closely inspecting the structure (which was very well constructed and had large rootballs on each corner) we decided to go a few steps farther and thats when we heard a single howel from roughly 200 feet away. seconds later many more joined in, moved closer, and then surrounded us leaving only one direction – back down the trail. they tracked us beside the trail and screamed the whole time until we were gone. It was absolutely TERRIFYING.
It was as if hell itself opened up and a whole clan of screaming demons surrounded us.
I don’t go bigfoot hunting anymore. I used to hike/ bike this area regularly when I was young, sometimes I went alone, at night! Now I am terrified of the woods and I’m constantly on guard if I go out, and I never go alone any more.

I don’t know where you got that pic Wes (the one on this page) but it’s freakishly close to what I saw…..the nose and eyes especially….. canines are too sharp though.

Hello,
This is an example of why you don’t “play” with these creatures. It’s all fun and games until you come across one. I never witness one, my son did, but I believe they’ve been around me. Just the feeling of them around me was enough never to go “Look” for them. You combined this with the orbs and I’m content with tent camping in State Parks. Even then, I’m not sure I’m going to.

Want to add…the creepy thing about these creatures is how much they watch us. I’m certain they used to watch my Grandmothers yard all the time. Don’t have the proof but it makes sense.

Well your not the first in line to turn into milktoast when hearing them or getting chased out of the woods…. It has a EFFECT that rattles the SOUL…. I havent stayed out of the woods myself, But I sure as hell dont blame anyone that does…. Daytime IS alot safer when looking for evidence…. ATLEAST my reckoning …. but if you do camp in BF AREAS, they will visit you at night… I scary but very cool … Oh by the way , l do go ARMED , WITH HI CAL WEAPONS…. I BRING THEM IN DURNING DAY LIGHT AND LEAVE THEM VISIBLE…. seems to quell them some… but still there CURIOSITY gets the best of them , and they will play games all night long with you…. As they say be careful what you wish for… Most folks do not believe this stuff and go out making a fuss and it brings them in and well some times it does not work out very well in the end.. I am glade they made it out alive.. He needs to come on and tell what happen so the next person that tries this won’t try it..

I am glad they were only taught a lesson and lived to tell the tale. Completely terrifying that was. I hope this person will do a show with Wes and we can get the details. Really sorry for the PTSD aftermath. A really hard lesson to learn.
