Encounter In Ohio

A listener writes “Here is a little background about me. I grew up in rural Ohio close to Salt Fork State Park. Now I live in South West Florida. My encounter took place in the fall of 1983 or 1984.

Me and a friend were coming back from getting Pizza around 6:30 at night as you know in the fall the sun goes down early so it was quite dark along this stretch of road. This road was 2 lanes with a 3-foot berm that was 2 or 3 feet lower than the fields beside the road. we were coming around a corner and we saw a dark mass standing on the side of the road. When we got closer we could see it was brown and very tall, my friend had a Subaru that had a sunroof in it and when we drove by it looked down at us it’s head was over the road and I look through the sunroof and its head was right there. I couldn’t make out any facial features but the eye shine was red. We just looked at each other and said did you just see that we both agreed we did and agreed not to say anything about it. Because people would think we were crazy.

I did go back to the location the next morning and looked around but I didn’t see any tracks just some mashed down grass.

Judging from the distance from the road it had to be a least 9 and a half to 10 feet tall.

That was the first and last time I saw anything.

I have heard things in the woods. And after listening to your show and others it makes me think I might have heard the creature instead of for instance an owl call that was not quite right or tree knocks that at the time I just thought they were being knocked together by the wind.

I moved to Florida a couple of years after this encounter and nothing happened until I started working for one of the large box stores. I worked the night shift and spent a lot of time outdoors loading and unloading trucks.

Now our store backed up to a marshy wooded area and I would often smell something that was like a cross between a skunk and wet dirty garbage. I never did see anything but just the smell.

People asked me if it was a skunk but I say no because I have lived in Florida over 25 years at that time and have never even seen one. I know they don’t like wetland.

You ask people all the time what they think Bigfoot is.

Here are my thoughts on it.

I think they are a smart left-over race of hominids that survived the ICE age and just want to be left alone.

As far as not finding the bodies I think they are sentient enough to bury their dead as we do.

People wonder where the missing link is, I say find a Sasquatch and you will find our missing ancestors.

That could be why all the DNA evidence comes back unknown human primate.

Thanks for the great show keep it up you are doing a great job.”

Salt Fork Lake area, part of the Coshocton triangle has it going on. I hope someday, Wes, you will come to the spring conference and meet a whole bunch of your fans. Bob Gimlin has been there numerous times.

I live near there, closer to Coshocton. Had a siting when I was around 8 years old with two friends. Also had other activity for years after. They are definitely here

(New Jersey) Amazing! That just figures. This guy goes out to pick up a pizza, and runs into a 10 foot Bigfoot!! Unreal!! I go out to pick up a pizza, and I’m lucky if I run into a damn squirrel !!! Do I sound bitter? Damn right. I guess some people have all the luck. Oh well, maybe some day….
