I lived in the Mohave Desert ( Palm Springs ) for 11 years. Getting outside the city limits at night can be quite spooky. In Dec. 1995 my neighbor and myself camped out on a small mountain between 29 Palms base and Joshua Tree National Park, absolutely no one around for miles, to use a metal detector around an old gold mine operation. Around 3am Chris woke me up in a frenzy saying there is a mountain lion outside and it was going to eat us. I raised up and there was definitely something walking around out tent. However we were armed and I was dead tired. Although I heard no canine sounds I just told him it was coyotes and to go back to sleep, which I did. Of course years later after reading about the Yucca Man and other Bigfoot encounters in this part of the country, I do wish I had stayed awake some to discern if the prowler was on 4 legs or two.

i spent some time in Joshua Tree a few year ago and loved to hear the locals talk about “elementalists”. i’ve tried to research them since but information is scarce. do you know anything about that? would love to hear it if your do.

Hi Louisa g. I would think they were talking about this place in the town of Joshua Tree, however this is a guess.

My first wife and I attended services here for about 6 months, it was just so far to drive from Cathedral City, Ca. It was an entirely new spiritual philosophy for me and something that has always stuck with me to a degree. I vividly remember one Sunday there when that life force they talk about swept through my whole body. You just just feel this energy in every cell and it was wonderful and awesome, very hard to explain.
