Bonus: A Christmas Short Story

Here is a short story I was working on for Christmas Day. I am releasing to you to get your feedback. I hope you guys and gals enjoy it. This is the same story heard on The Confessionals Podcast

Below is a retelling of an encounter titles: A scary night in the Smoky Mountains.

The Great Smoky Mountains are a mountain range rising along the Tennessee–North Carolina border in the southeastern United States. They are a subrange of the Appalachian Mountains, and form part of the Blue Ridge Physiographic Province. The range is sometimes called the Smoky Mountains and the name is commonly shortened to the Smokies. The Great Smokies are best known as the home of the Great Smoky Mountains National Park, which protects most of the range. The park was established in 1934, and, with over 11 million visits per year, it is the most visited national park in the United States.

I heard that story before but it is really much more compelling in this Christmas format! Something kids can listen to by the fire and let their eyes get big!! Loved it!

  2. Ernest M

I’ve heard the original and the only difference between it and this version is this version mentions the University of Tennessee where as the other does not. Also, this is shorter, more substance please Wesley. Also, if you could do a once a month reading that would be great.
    MERRY CHRISTMAS EVERYONE

A fun, sitting by the fire, narration. Your voice sounds great on the podcasts.
Thank you for the amazing, professional job you do for each one of your shows.
I look forward to the New Year and another 500 encounters!

That was a story from one your guest. I remember that one because the guest was really animated telling the story. I live your version with all the sound effects. Great job. Been listening since your first year…. miss this count down intro it was good to hear you bring it back for your special 500 epeisode. Which was awesome by the way. Merry Christmas and thank you for all you do!
    ????????

I heard this story before on YouTube but because it happened In the winter it fits the Christmas theme!
Merry Christmas to you and your family and God bless you!
Every Friday and Sunday night for the past 2-3 yrs you have given me a a great gift. An escape or a happy place that allowed me to wonder; think; and use my imagination which I think we all need in the crazy world. I have never seen a bigfoot but I am a Believer because I believe in you!
THANK YOU FOR YOUR WEEKLY GIFTS! THEY MEAN ALOT TO ME!

WES, Thank YOU for the encounter but many more thanks for playing TRANS SIBERIAN ORCHASTRA that’s my all time favorite Christmas song! The band is from my area [TAMPA FL] and locally they used to go by the name SABOTAGE. I’m friends with the base players brother. A DJ from one of the radio stations played that song back around 1990 and the calls started pouring in. The DJ sent their music to a DJ in NY City who used to be in Tampa and the rest is HISTORY!

Feedback?! You want feedback? OK, here goes……Love your reading of a story – we like your voice but I know what you mean when you say you don’t care for the sound of your own voice – I feel the same about mine.
Anyway, I hope you have a great Christmas and New Years…tell Woody hello for me…..
Just one small thing…..the cheerful Christmas music during the most dramatic part of the reading…..really?

Wes, You have the greatest taste in music and such a talent for narration, it is all dramatized so beautifully. I think you could have made it as a professional of some kind. Maybe BROADWAY! Well…I don’t know. But please do air it and remember “Jesus is the reason for the season”. That’s important. Make Him forever. Love ya Wes. Merry Christmas.

  12. Jeremiah S

Excellent teaser Wes. I really liked it. The story mode with sound effects was pleasantly unexpected. It made me feel as if I was there in your experience. Looking forward to the rest of the story. Always quality. Merry Christmas!

Yup always enjoy the sound effects and narration nice work Wes . Hope u do more of them next year btw merry Xmas have a good rest and looking forward to 501

  15. Howard W

Tim Hall is the guys name that tells this story I believe. While Wes’s version is good it’s also very entertaining watching how excitable this guy gets as he recounts his experience. ESPECIALLY when he makes the sound the bigfoot made.

This intriguing story was well told by you, Wes, and the music perfect. I could listen to your voice all day long! Thanks for all the hard work you put into making these podcasts for us. Much appreciated. Merry Christmas to you, Woody, your staff and all your family from beautiful British Columbia ☺

  17. David J

    Wes,
Your narration is rather good! Very few people are able to create mental images through their words that are complete in all the details. I felt as though I was actually there.

  18. m99

Wes, you are the original trooper. Thanks for the extra content. Hope you can relax now & start enjoying Christmas Holiday. We love you and wish you and yours the very best Christmas and New Year to come. XO_ us…

  19. Bryan G

Merry Christmas Wes! Two shows in a row talking about the Smokey
Mountains! If you are ever this way give me a holler and we can head up there and see what we find. You almost pronounced MT. Le Conte right, just a little more southern twang! Lol

  20. Donna K

Merry Christmas Wes and Woody!!! Love the show! Congratulations on the 500 show anniversary!!! I have followed since the very beginning… keep up the great work!!! We appreciate YOU!!!! ?❤️?

  21. David G

Thank you Wes! I appreciate all the work you put into the podcasts.

I enjoyed the short story. Only problem is they are too short. LOL! You have a nice voice to listen to. The extra sound effects are a good addition. I could do without too much added music. Although I liked the songs you chose this time but maybe not the next time. Also, I like the count down intro.

As a side note… What happened to the Crypto PTSD guy? Is he OK? I heard the interview you did for him most recently. Was good. I like his podcasts also. At the moment I cant recall his name. I’m losing my memory at 55. Yikes!!!

Merry Christmas to you and your family..
    Thank you.

    Merry Christmas, Wes!
Thank you for sharing your talent with us! Ive never had an experience with the big guy but the way you treat people with kindness and respect made me a fan! Hope your new year is the best yet!

  23. Christian L

I’d rather have heard you interview the real witness with someone indepth Q & A. I remember the actual witness (he never actually saw the creature but he damn well heard it outside) had serious fear in his voice during the retelling that struck a chord w me but dont remember anyone actually questioning him about it…just his story…was it on another show ( not SC?) Not bad but the music wasn’t mixed in at appropriate times….. fun to listen to but I preferred the actual witnesses story. Regardless…kept me awake and entertained on a dark Christmas moonlit night driving up the Maine coast…no road crossing sasquatch seen unfortunately….Merry Christmas everyone.

God Bless and have a great 2019…Hopefully we’ll get a body this year Amen to that….
