A listener writes “I was driving in Kansas somewhere just a few miles from Norton. It was about 730 in the morning, the sky was clear blue, no wind, just cold. Out of the blue I felt something hit the back end of my car. It hit me hard enough to look in my rear view mirror…I saw nothing.

Then I looked in the Sideview mirror and saw something that looked to be about the size of a small pony or large dog…running across the road. The fields were empty, just fences and fields getting ready to be planted. I got a clear view of it. It had long flowing brown and white hair, like what you would see on an Afghan hound.

On the whole body, my brain immediately thought I should stop because I assumed it was a dog. In the middle of nowhere then I saw where the head should be and my brain couldn’t compute at all, because it was a human face looking right at me as it ran across the road.

I do not understand what I saw but the vision is clear in my head two weeks later….my son thinks it was a skin walker, or dog man…but I don’t really believe in that so I am not sure what to think…I am just curious if there have been any other similar sightings in the area or if I saw something that I just can’t explain. I would love your opinion.”

Mysteries Unknown writes “In tonight’s podcast I talk with Swampdog who has had several Class A Bigfoot encounters in the New Jersey area starting back in 1989. We are going to be going over his first encounter but later in the podcast we are going to talk about an encounter where two Bigfoots charge a group of teenagers.

Swampdog and his wife were in the area and believes that he saved their lives that night. This encounter has it all and you do not want to miss it. One of the teenagers fathers was a State Trooper and now is a believer in Bigfoot.”

Yarnhub Mystery writes “Phantom Pilots, Ghost Planes from another era, and Broken Radios playing speeches from the war. All of these apparitions and more have been an almost constant feature of Montrose Airbase.

Mainly attributed to the ghost of the pilot Lieutenant Desmond Arthur ,he and his plane have been seen by many. The hauntings became so prevalent that by 1949 any newcomers to the Montrose airbase were given a printed document as part of their familiarization with the base informing the staff that the camp was haunted by the youngest ghost in the Royal Airforce, an officer named Flight Lieutenant Arthur.

The Hauntings continue to this day…..”

Tonight I will be speaking to Trey. Trey grew up in FL on a farm that had these creatures on it. He had a very strange encounter many years later near his family farm.

Trey writes “Second Morning of Archery 1999-2000 Timeframe – I was dropped off by swamp buggy in the area I was hunting that morning. This was in a Florida WMA. When I got off the buggy I instantly felt eyes on me. As I was slipping on my back pack it was so strong I looked back over my shoulder into the darkness. A friend was handing down my bow asked me fi I was all right.

I looked up and said I’m good. It was well be before daylight. They had a good ways to travel further into the WMA to their stands. I stood there for a few minutes letting them drive off and letting things quiet down before I walked in to my stand. It was maybe a 15 min walk to my stand down an old road on the mound. I got about 50 feet down the road and got this massive feeling of pressure from my left. I didn’t have my headlamp I had left ti hanging on my stand the previous morning. I hunted a different area the evening before with one my of friends. There was some moonlight I could see the trail fine but not into palmettos and trees. The hair stood up on the back of my neck. I knew I wasn’t alone and I was being scrutinized. My first thought maybe a bobcat, panther or big hog. I’m standing there listening in the dark and I get this flash in my mind of what is standing in the palmettos. I made a quick decision either return camp crossing a lot of water in the dark or continue to my stand. I said to myself get to the stand and get off the ground. I walked my normal pace. I slipped my KBar out of its sheath. I walked with bow in my left hand and it in my right. When I arrived at the stand I didn’t bother putting my pack and bow on my pull rope. I hung my bow on my left shoulder and climbed right up. That stand was a 16ft ladder stand. I nocked an arrow and put my bow in its holder. I put my gloves and mask on. I settled in to wait for daylight. I still had the intense feeling of being watched. I hadn’t been sitting there very long when at my 10 o’clock this impossibly loud owl hoot goes off. It echoed through the woods. I looked in that direction and I thought that’s one huge owl. Mind you the day before I hadn’t heard any owls at al. Then another hoot at the 12 position. Then again at the at 4 and 2 positions. I’m thinking wait heck is this? These hoots keep coming from those positions. After about 15 minutes of this I start noticing that they don’t sound quite normal. They would also be softer from 12, 2, 4 and trail off a little funny. The ones from ten were always loud and intense. What I am about to say is the God Honest Truth. I will take a polygraph to prove its validity. Out of nowhere a Great Horned

Owl lands on a limb of tree right next to me. I could have reached out touched it. It was that close to me. It turns its head looks at me. I was thinking to myself no one will ever believe this. Another hoot goes off from 10. That owl turned its head towards it and then looked back at me. I whispered to it see it’s not me doing it. This owl sits there with me for a good 5 minutes listening to the hoots. A couple of times it ruffled its feathers after hoots but not once did that bird answer those hoots! When it flew off I never felt so alone in my life. The hoots started getting more intense after it left. It felt like they were trying to intimidate now. This carried on till first light. When it started breaking daylight it was like someone reached up and flipped a switch. The woods went absolutely Dead Silent. That was only time I have experienced that dead silence. My first thought was here we go. Something is about to happen now. I was literally sitting there bow in hand in this soundless void waiting to be charged at any moment. The slight hum of the powerlines behind me to west was gone too. This lasted for more than an hour. When the sound came back it was very weird. I could literally hear the sound of woods in the distance coming back to me. I still had a slight feeling of being watched. It wasn’t that intense feeling of being scrutinized. I stayed in the stand until 0930. While sitting there every once in a while, I would hear land something land in the water behind me.

Just a small plop sound. Looking back now, I believe they were throwing acorns at me. I never saw anything airborne though. It’s the only thing that makes sense to me. It wasn’t the sound of fish popping something on top of water. When I climbed down from the stand I decided I wasn’t just going beat feet out of there. I put my pack on and nocked an arrow. I started my walk back to camp which is maybe mile or so. When I was about at ten o’clock position from my stand I stopped to take a look around. There was a little turn in the trail there where you could watch my stand pretty much unnoticed. I turning around in circle looking for sign I bumped something with my right. I look down and laying there on the ground was big human looking turd you have ever seen. It was at least 18 inches long and 3inches in diameter. I broke it apart with an arrow it was full of deer hair and acorns. I wish now I picked it up brought it to back to camp. tI was laying there in the trail like a big F You. I had a Nextel Radio at the time. I wish I had a smart phone that day. The trail was pretty hard there weren’t any discernible tracks. I started walking again when I notice a trail going into the palmettos on my right I noticed walking out the previous morning. There about 10- 15 off the trail was a little open area. In it was collapsed little one-man tent. It was blue and black in color. It looked in relatively good condition and was a little weathered. The snap together poles to hold it up and the weather fly weren’t anywhere to be seen. There was not any sign of fire pit or camp fire.

There was some trash strewn around the site. There where some power bar wrappers and etc. I was standing there thinking who would abandon their shelter. The longer I stood there more it started to give me a bad feeling. I backed to the trail and headed for Camp. I didn’t do any more poking around after that. I just did my normal walk back trying not to look bothered by them. I still had the slight feeling of being watched al the way back to camp. Once back at camp I changed clothes and sat in the cook shack back against the wall watching the wood till everyone returned to camp. I didn’t mention any of it to anyone and still haven’t to his day. As for the tent I believe the Florida Trail passes through that general area passing from that WMA into an adjoining WMA. Maybe a hiker was forced out their camp. It’s quite a long way to civilization from there in any direction. The camps to the SE are private and empty most of the year. I like to note that the hunt the morning before was one the best I spent in the woods. The woods were full life that morning. I saw deer and turkeys. The oaks were full of squirrels running back and forth the entire time. The next morning was like walking into the tomb. Something strange did in occur during the silence that I will only share with you Wes. I feel after listening to all your episodes and being a member, I believe I can trust you with it. Thanks for taking the time to read this and sorry for any typos I missed.”

Earth teems with a staggering variety of animals, including 9,000 kinds of birds, 28,000 types of fish, and more than 350,000 species of beetles. What explains this explosion of living creatures—1.4 million different species discovered so far, with perhaps another 50 million to go? The source of life’s endless forms was a profound mystery until Charles Darwin brought forth his revolutionary idea of natural selection. But Darwin’s radical insights raised as many questions as they answered. What actually drives evolution and turns one species into another? To what degree do different animals rely on the same genetic toolkit? And how did we evolve?

“What Darwin Never Knew” offers answers to riddles that Darwin couldn’t explain. Breakthroughs in a brand-new science—nicknamed “evo devo”—are linking the enigmas of evolution to another of nature’s great mysteries, the development of the embryo. NOVA takes viewers on a journey from the Galapagos Islands to the Arctic, and from the explosion of animal forms half a billion years ago to the research labs of today. Scientists are finally beginning to crack nature’s biggest secrets at the genetic level. The results are confirming the brilliance of Darwin’s insights while revealing clues to life’s breathtaking diversity in ways the great naturalist could scarcely have imagined.

Evolution – What Darwin Never Knew

I will be welcoming Ron to the show. He had an encounter back in the early 1990’s. Ron said “We were on vacation, staying in this cabin in U.P. Michigan. The family was down swimming and fishing. I came back to the cabin and I thought someone was in there. I got to the room I thought an intruder or a thief was in there but something told me not to go in there.

Sasquatch never crossed my mind.

As I grabbed my shotgun it ran out. I followed it out but lost sight of it. As I walked into the forest looking, the intruder got up and ran for the water and jumped in. It wasn’t human, it reminded me of non human primate. I never saw it come up for air, it could have swam around the bay in an area I could not see. It was the strangest thing that ever happened to me.”

The encounter happened in Wisconsin. A listener writes “When I was 10 years old I walk down stairs to use the bathroom and and it was about 2 o’clock in the morning and I just happened to look out the window and it was a full moon and out the bay window, I saw a man like thing walking a across the field about 75-100 yards from that window walking along the woods on the edge of the field and it just walking south towards a different woods I stopped and just watched it for about 10-30 seconds.

It covered about 150-200 yards and then few seconds. The moon light just got sucked up by this thing it was pitch black like darker than the sky it’s self I was just froze with fear and felt like this thing could holding me there. My first reaction was to just go hide I went to my parents room they just told me I was dreaming but I know I was awake and seen this thing walk across the field.

The thing that really threw me off was for about a week straight I had the same weird dream over and over again. Id walk down stairs and everything was green like a night vision When you look through it. And it the creature would be at the door or in my house just standing there for walking around. And I had the same thought of freezing at first and couldn’t move. But before I started listing to your show it made that laugh or giggle or like the noise you play in the intro of like gibberish. And I’ve never heard that before u till I listened to your show and it really just brought that fear back into me. I walk outside at night and just have a feeling of being watched all the time.

Then this goes into the other thing. I’m an avid bow hunter it’s about 10 miles from my house where I hunt I can send you pictures of the map. And it’s right next to a tree farm and I can hear stuff walking in there regularly and it’s so swampy and thick the deer struggle to walk through let alone a person but it’s just a odd sound that could be anything but oh well. But there multiple times I sit in the stand feel something is watching me but I never seen anything. But I’d hear that gibberish or it sounds like people talking in the distance you know like you hear a conversation but you can’t understand the word but the thing it’s really close to the point where I should hear them and understand them. But I don’t.

And it’s sounds like yelling between 2 people. But that’s all for that’s then about 15 mins south towards Kewaunee Wisconsin a girl I met lives on a farm and she hunts actively and and we talk about it and send each other game photos that her brother get and she sends me a picture ( down below) of this lady or thing standing in here field and they only got the one photo but it made there newspaper they tried looking for it many nights but never found anything or anyone there. But it’s like hundreds of yard’s from any roads and the camera is kind of in the middle of nowhere like nobody should find it. But I’m not quite sure of it. But thanks Wes I hope you understand to have interest about my experience I have nobody to talk to about it or anything just thought to reach out.”

From The Shadows writes “Suzanne Ferencak of the Mansfield, Ohio chapter of the BFRO (Bigfoot Field Researchers Organization), began as an eyewitness and since become an investigator. She shares with Shane her experiences with a Bigfoot creature, as well as eyewitness reports she’s investigated in North Central Ohio.

If you have a sighting in North Central Ohio and would like to report it to Suzanne, please reach out to her on Facebook Messenger. She is also helping organize the first annual Mohican Bigfoot Festival in Loudenville, Ohio on September 20th, 2025.”

A listener writes “We moved into this house just outside of Ocala,Fl in Aug. i have have heard these Moans/howls occasionally from the back yard but mostly accompanied by dog barks. This morning I stepped out to go to work at 6am and heard it off in the distance and was able to get a snapchat vid of it.

I had heard the rooster first and was trying to get vid of that then heard the howl in the back ground.

There is a ton of Horse pasture land and forest around our new development and areas of “greenspace” set aside to never be developed. If I’m facing out the door like in the video the sound off in the distance is coming from the south. We have many black bear around the area. Tall pines and oak forests with palmetto undergrowth. Ill attach the video and some photos of location. Maybe you can verify the distant howl or clean the audio a bit.”

Strange Familiars writes “First, George shares stories of growing up in a haunted house, as well as an intense visit from a nighttime invader – was it related to his father’s experience with a UFO/missing time? Then we share some listener stories about Sabe/Sasquatch encounters and a plane frozen in the sky.”

Strange Familiars: A Haunted House

A listener writes “I’ve listened for a while now and have been very hesitant to write in, but, as I went through the archives and listened to several episodes in a row that talked about the “laughing” that people heard, I don’t feel as silly telling my brief story.

Roughly 30 years ago, my father and I were deer hunting near Maytown, KY in Wolfe county. The area that we were hunting was directly across the hill from where we lived, and in a holler. At the head of the holler was a large pond and we were sitting at the base of the dam of the pond in a tree line. As we sat there, we hadn’t seen anything other than watching a skunk through binoculars.

As it was getting dark, from somewhere behind us in the woods, we both heard something that we can only describe as “laughing.” We both looked at each other and I asked my dad what that was. He said he had no clue, but we immediately got up and walked out to where we were parked (you would have to see the layout of the geography of the area to understand why we drove in from the opposite side of the hill).

For some reason, we never spoke of this incident again until about 10 years ago, and even then we both had no clue about what it could be. Even though I have been fascinated with bigfoot/sasquatch ever since I was a kid, at that time, I had no clue that bigfoot had ever been sighted in KY as that was pre-internet. Unfortunately, my dad passed away in May of last year, before I ever heard the “laugh/chatter” on your intro, so I wasn’t able to get his opinion on a comparison of what we heard.

That is basically the closest thing that I’ve had to an encounter, but, it still altered me in a sense, as every time I ever entered the woods after that, it always ran through the back of my mind.”

Strange Familiars writes “Alison interviews Timothy about his new book, I Have Never Minded the Loneliness: Hermits and Their Stories. We discuss the book, hermits and their pets, John Smith, John Stink, the Hermit Queen of Happy Hollow, the Giant Hermit of the Adirondacks, the Old Leather Man, and more. Timothy reads the stories of hermits Left-Handed Charley, who was caught in a lie by Theodore Roosevelt, and Truman “Commodore” Downs, who claimed the planet Mars as his birthplace.”

Mysteries Unknown writes “In this episode of Mysteries Unknown, Darrell Denton shares a truly terrifying and bizarre Class A Dogman encounter that took place in the Land Between the Lakes (LBL) alongside Martin Groves. What started as a routine outing quickly turned into a nightmarish experience that defies explanation.

But that’s not all—Darrell also recounts another chilling night in the LBL where he and his group found themselves completely surrounded by both Bigfoot and Dogman. With strange sounds, eerie movements, and an overwhelming sense of being watched, this encounter left them questioning everything they thought they knew about these cryptid creatures.”
