A Hairy Humanoid Creature

I’ve recently stumbled upon the podcast recently and I feel obligated to let you know about my encounter. I live in Central Wisconsin and I have heard no talks about this at all.

No one believes it’s real but ive seen first hand. My first encounter was in the spring of 2019. I was driving on a county road after midnight on a weekend when I saw something hairy in the ditch. I layed on the brakes because I thought it was a deer but out of the standing water a hairy humanoid stands up and stares directly at my truck (although not sure how much it could see with led headlights and a light bar on the bumper), it paused for a brief moment and then it walked with urgency into the cedar swamp adjacent to the ditch.

The encounter that shook me up was October 31st of 2020. I’m an avid waterfowl hunted and decided on that weekend to try for some geese. I hunted about 5-10 miles south of the county highway I had my first sighting on, in the Buena Vista marsh area in between plover and Wisconsin rapids.

Usually I go with a friend, generally means we will get more birds but everyone I usually hunt with couldn’t/didn’t want to go. I made my way out there at about 430am, the spot is on the edge of a cornfield that butts up against a hardwood forest area with thick underbrush. I sat at about 430 and waited because you can’t place your decoys until an hour before shooting light. I heard what I later found to be tree knocks(from the north, I was facing south into the field), but at the time I didn’t think anything of it, I’ve heard some weird noises in the woods. But at about 5 I heard high pitch shrieks(again from the north) that startled me.

I’ve heard bobcats make some weird noises but this sounded different and shook me pretty bad, I was scared shitless. None the less I stayed put and set up my decoys at I believe 530ish and went back to my layout blind. Just before shooting light I had a pine cone land to the left of me, which didn’t make any sense, I was not sitting under or hear a pine tree but I knew there were a couple farther back in the woods scattered around. At this point I was still freaked out but didn’t think much of the pine cone, later I realized it was thrown at me. Shooting light was approaching fast and I was beginning to feel more comfortable and exited to shoot some geese. I began calling in geese as shooting hours came, legal shooting light is still dark especially when you have a treeline to the west of you. I heard a branch crack about 10 minutes in to shooting hours, I looked over expecting to see a deer but was I wrong.

I looked to the west where the noise came from but I saw a hairy humanoid creature again, what I believe to be 8-9 feet tall facing my direction, again it was still not light out but light enough to see half way decent. It was 10ish yards back into the woods and about 50 yards away. It stood there for about 5 minutes, I was frozen, I couldn’t move. After the 5 minutes it slowly began to make its way towards me, I began to yell, I couldn’t think of anything else to do, every time I yelled it made a noise that sounded like a human talking jibberish. I was clutching my Loaded shotgun in my hands, I have never been so scared in my life, it wouldn’t stop coming closer. As it got to about 25 yards away I stood up in my layout blind and yelled “if you’re a person fu#### with me walk away I will shoot” it responded in jibberish again. As it got to about 20 yards I shot a 3 1/2 in double B shotgun shell right next to it, and it just frose where it was. I expected it to run away this scared me even more. I shot the remaining 2 shells and it just stood there. Immediately after my gun was empty I booked it back to my truck, I hopped in and took off like a bat out of hell leaving all my decoys and layout blind where they layed. I told my dad later that day but he just laughed and didn’t believe me saying it was probably a black bear, we have them come around occasionally. It was not a bear, I know what I saw. I returned back that afternoon to get my things and found all my decoys knocked over and my blind flipped over but I found no footprints at all, it puzzled the hell out of me. That’s about it and I haven’t seem anything since. I feel like I can’t tell anyone because they think I’m nuts like my father. I don’t know who to talk to about it but again I felt obligated to tell you my story. Thank you for what you do.”

I’m sure that was a frightening ordeal and it’s terrible you had to carry it alone.

That’s fascinating about the verbal or jibberish response it kept trying to give you after you yelled. I wonder what it was communicating to you?

Also the way it never attempted to run all the while being shot at is telling. They must believe that staying perfectly still and calm is the answer to most situations…..and maybe it is!?

How terrifying! It’s so hard to experience something so incredibly frightening and see these creatures too and then be completely unbelieved! I’m glad you found this Podcast, it’s definitely a safe place to share your encounter and no one will judge you. I hope you will consider telling your encounter on Wes’s show? We all learn something from every story and it will help you to continue to process everything you’ve been through.
    Thanks for sharing.

Thats a hard way to find out they are real,,, But dont worry, Many of us found out the hard way, And thats why we are here,
But dont let that encounter keep you from hunting, But I can tell you what really sucks after seeing one, You will never relax

You told your experience very well. I live about an hour away from the Buena Vista marsh area and have 2 friends that had experiences about 20 yrs apart. (A white bigfoot near Dexterville approx 1980!) Wisconsin is weird. Glad you are OK, but shaken I’m sure.

Kinda makes me wish everyone wore police body cams. Maybe not running ALL the time, but where you could activate it with a quick press of a button. In your situation, it could have at the very least recorded the jibberish.

You’re making me think… since I deer hunt alone, usually going to the blind before daight.

I can’t imagine the astonishment you had when it kept coming towards you even after firing warning shots.
My parents married in the 1960’s and for a time lived in rural Wisconsin . I grew up with hearing them use the phrase “watch out for the Wisconsin Wooly Wooly”. They are gone now so I cannot ask if they were meaning sasquatch but I suspect they were.
